Re: 'Is Xbox Ending?' - The Official Answer Is No, But A Recent Interview Clearly Caused Panic

Weebleman

Things like this create new problems. Thats a lot of searches and I imagine very few would look to places and articles like this to clarify. That could be potential lost sales from a large part of the casual market.

You start with 'is xbox closing' and then start seeing 'xbox releasing all games on PS' and then its another sale to Sony.

I really want them to turn this round but im struggling to see any world they do it.

Re: Opinion: Xbox Should Consider Cancelling Halo: Campaign Evolved For PS5

Weebleman

The genie is out of the bottle and its gonna be a nightmare to get back in. Once they start changing direction (again), folks will just stop paying attention as it feels like its all they do these days.

Regarding GTA 6, its highly likely to sell a few xbox's but, more than likely it will sell a boat load of PS5's. Maybe even Pro's if it utilises PSSR 2.0 well to nudge performance a touch better.

Bottom line is, who knows. Everything Asha says at the minute will have been filtered through PR, so we need to wait and see what she does as these words will be designed to get folks on side.

Yet, as always with all these companies, its what they dont say that usually becomes the reality of it all.

Re: Poll: How Optimistic Are You Feeling About The Future Of Xbox?

Weebleman

Sadly for me I dont see much of a future in it. I think they are far to down the rabbit hole with the direction they took to turn it round. By cancelling out any of things they have done, they will essentially have lied to anyone that bought into that and lose more trust.

Then, similar to all the rumours/whispers/reports about the next console, there are equal amounts of rumours/whispers/reports stating that the new folks have been brought in to sunset the console side of things. We cant say theres no truth in one set of these and then say theres truth in the others as really they are all speculation, but theres usually no smoke without fire.

And thats the problem, uncertainty. Nobody, probably MS included right now, is certain on the direction xbox will go. And while they take time to figure that out, the bulk of folks apart from the small quarter on sites like these are moving to other ecosystems. Theres even some of them turning away.

Its easier to pick the one that feels more certain and hey, you will get all xbox's games there anyway 🤷‍♂️

Re: Xbox's 'Pivot Away From Console' Had Been Failing And Questioned At Microsoft, Claims Report

Weebleman

The problem is the same problem they had all gen, nobody is buying them. Nothing they have tried has changed that, even before all this everything's an xbox. Doing another change of direction is just going to annoy anybody outside of places like this as it just looks like confusing messages. Everyone else has already ingrained themselves in another eco system, and they wont drop that.

Personally, and im sad to say it, I just see them flapping around for a bit longer, throwing buzzwords out and calling it a day.

Re: Xbox President Sarah Bond Is Also Leaving The Company, Microsoft Confirms

@Fiendish-Beaver yeah, im with you there. I simply dont want to stream my games as the technology isnt there to make it feel like a local version. I have a horrible feeling this will be their way though. The ROG ally x is advertised as 'play all your games' and that is technically true, only with streaming though.

The new boss is there to maximise and grow the service. They wont pull in new people by simply having a powerful machine, exclusive games, gamepass, play anywhere, etc... as this has all been tried and didnt work.

The bottom line is people built an existing digital library last gen and they will not walk away from it. The majority of sales are from folks who simply stick where the stuff they bought will be, as has been proven this gen.

So to maximise growth, as ive said all along, you sell your stuff where people are playing. Apps to access a dashboard, multiplatform games and i would bet my left leg on an xbox studio only version of gamepass popping up on PS and Switch within 12 months.

Re: Xbox President Sarah Bond Is Also Leaving The Company, Microsoft Confirms

Weebleman

@Gemini53 I mean, as long as you can access your library, its an xbox. Thats the end goal with the 'full screen experience'. Its basically an app overlay on windows. Only a matter of time before it has an android version, ios version, etc...

The ROG ally is already doing it and sadly, i fear this is the end game. I mean an xbox/pc hybrid... sounds awfully like a pre built pc that just boots straight into an app doesn't it...

Again. Im desperately hoping im wrong.

Re: Xbox President Sarah Bond Is Also Leaving The Company, Microsoft Confirms

Weebleman

@Gemini53 it does not sadly. Its hard to feel any hope or excitement when you look at the CV of who's now in charge.

@Fiendish-Beaver like I said in another thread, the next xbox will basically be an app to the 'full screen experience'. Cheaper, easier to get 'growth' and is already in the wild. The bit in the statement that said focus on consoles, for me at least, will just end up being about making sure you can access your library. Anything new will just be the PC version.

Really hope im wrong.

Re: Microsoft CEO Shares His Thoughts On The Major Leadership Changes At Xbox

@Sol4ris Phil did an interview (with destin whatshisname) about a year ago in which he was asked about retirement. He very clearly said he had no plans to retire any time soon. That may have just been a corporate line, but its odd he left before the 25th anniversary. Then the fact Sarah, who was allegedly there to take over, ups and quits the same day. Just feels a little to coincidental and off for me.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

Weebleman

Well, whatever you think of the guy, its the end of an era. And I gotta say, im not excited for what's coming next.

Personally I dont think we'll see another xbox, be it a console or a hybrid. I reckon its gonna be announced they are focusing on publishing games instead within a month or two. I dont like it but between nadela and the head of AI, its done.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Ranked 5th In List Of Platforms Developers Are Most Interested In

Weebleman

@fatpunkslim sigh its not my playstation.

There are more not on it than are. But who cares. I own multiples of all the consoles and enjoy games on them all. I dont need an xbox or a pc to play PS games, just as much as i dont need a PS to play xbox games. Next gen, I wont even need an xbox. I recommend you broaden your horizons as well.

No xbox doesnt have twice the monthly users. You are lumping PC users in. They are not on xbox. Again, im not standing up for playstation, but i dislike misinformation.

Im just tired of your absolute inability to look at things from a balanced view. Like when you were wrong about day one games. Your immediate reaction is let's put a line under it and move on. After months and months of you say the facts show this, the facts show that, only for it all to be fanboy nonsense. Yet you say i dont like a discussion.

I will say it again. I want xbox to thrive. I want them to do well. I just see what they are doing as a way to bail out and become a publisher. Which I do not want.

Lets just end it there to save you the effort of moving the goal posts or using some AI driven 'fact' to make yourself look sillier.

Enjoy your day mate and play some games.

Peace out.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Ranked 5th In List Of Platforms Developers Are Most Interested In

Weebleman

@fatpunkslim but it wont let you play everything. Want to play gran tourismo? Sorry. And thats just one in a long list of ps games not even on PC.

They already stripped windows in the rog and its widely considered to still be a pain in the backside that stops it feeling like a console.

PC gamers already have rigs that will do all of this and yet PS is selling millions more than xbox despite that. Just because it has an xbox logo wont make them drop what they already have.

And then theres price. This is going to be a big thing and from the signs we already have, its gonna be a costly boy.

Look, it will have a market for people like yourself who are ingrained in the ecosystem. It may even tempt a few outliers, but it wont even sell series numbers.

Lets just agree to wait and see what comes in the future and we will see what the outcome is as all this, on both sides, is speculation until we know.
