Maybe Playstation have a much lower yield with their SOC as compared to Microsoft, because of their very late decision to overclock the thing to look more competitive with the series X.

Tombraider nice and all, but finish Perfect Dark first please, and make it a good game, well this news will up the price for CD ofcourse , but maybe the deal to sell CD to Microsoft has already been done behind the curtains.

Great they optimised the game for controller, but like @Widey85 I would really have liked the option of mouse and keyboard for the Xbox.

FSR does not require any special hardware or dedicated machine learning transistors to work , it's just an (very good) processing algorithm, so it can work for basically anywhere, version 2 does require some work on the dev-side of games, but it also works on Nvidia, and therefore I expect it to show up on the Switch too, for docked games, the tegra chip they use doesn't support any form of DLSS I believe.

@k3lt0n About the same here, maybe a little lower on the digital side this year, will buy physical when they are dirt cheap, bought Assassins Creed Origins Gold edition physical from Ubisoft directly for like 8 euro's which was even way cheaper than any deal in the xbox store.

Good news, they got snubbed so many times, a multitude of nominations everywhere, and what I heard they only got one at the golden joystick awards for best xbox game.... Played the first one, and still have to finish part 2 (too many games, too little time atm).

The team isn't working on Marvel Avengers anymore, Square Enix have hired out the whole team (Crystal Dynamics) to Microsoft for completing Perfect Dark, so any work on updates is basically a surprise to me.

Well this is awesome news, they keep updating (and probably nerfing ??) the game...

The voting of the shareholders should be a formality, seeing as Microsoft is paying 95 dollars per share, and share price now is hovering around 79.
As for the FTC (DOJ won't intervene I heard) the other 2 big deals in entertainment Warner-Discovery and Amazon-MGM were eventually not opposed by the FTC recently, which bodes well for the completion of the deal.

Some thins on the list:

Skull and Bones, which was supposed to be releasing in 2018, production cost like 150 million bucks, so no wonder they didn't cancel this, now coming in 2023....

Beyond good and evil 2, in development hell for the longest time.... announced in 2017 I think....

@Grumblevolcano would love a new Kinect, and if so they should make it full backwards compatible with the Kinect 1, cause I got a lot of 360 kinect games on my shelf, but my 360 with kinect were stolen.

We were expecting the streaming stick , they more or less announced that already... so it could be something else entirely, so I hope a steambox (custom steamdeck in a partnership with Valve).

Started Dying Light 1 (bought the platinum edition real cheap), then I heard of this upcoming patch, and stopped playing. I get that people are frustrated with the one x and series s not getting the same treatment as the series x, but hey it's what people are saying , they didn't have to do it, it's free... so it shows commitment to their games even after 7 years...
Got a QHD monitor so gonna try the balanced version tonight see how that looks.

Gonna be optimistic, they're gonna team up with epic to bring redengine to ue5, maybe this will speed up development time and release in 4 years.... relatively bug free, Witcher 3 was also buggy as hell at launch but they fixed it in a reasonable time not 1,5 year like 77 thing

Videopac for me too, but was at a friends house, game&watch Nintendo donkey kong were was the first game I owned. After that MSX , C64 and the list goes on and on...

By the way great to see Sony providing all those nice gameplay video's for us , Hogwarts , Trek to Yomi...

Hope both are great, Starfield you get with gamepass, so not have to buy that, and will definitely buy Hogwarts, my wife and eldest daughter are serious Potterheads...

@XxEvilAshxX Exactly that, it was called an AAAA studio because of the sheer total of incredible resumés the people had (have) on that team, all of them seniors I believe, from the likes of Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Crystal Dynamics... It looked like the dream team, but with so much "alpha's" in the room, no wonder it doesn't always work....

@themightyant Great rule, maybe something for me too, bought a lot last year which I haven't even started yet, I've always been a hoarder, scored a lot of physical (xbox one and 360 games) which look great on a shelf but I've yet got to put in the box, some I've already played but want to go back to.
But in 15 years when I retire I get to play them all and clear my backlog.... lol.. who am i kidding right.

Just two, bought Dying Light 1 Platinum edition and Elden Ring (which I haven't even installed yet, saving that for this weekend).

Gamepass is the best value in gaming, I've got so much to play, played Tunic this week, which is fun, and tried Paradise Killer last night, which is a weird af game, but there's something about it that keeps me going, still finishing the last achievement in 'Nobody Saves the World' (which is basiscally playing the whole thing again, new game+), Infernax still playing that, FAR Changing tides almost done.... too much too play and too little time. Oh yeah GOTG which I started, also great, ME trilogy... sigh...

Yep it's a great game, played it for an hour , really tough at times but satisfying too.

This is supposed to be a cross-studio team, which will help Undead Lab with the previous 'janky' animations in SOD, so this sounds promising.

I believe 'The Initiative' is a small agile prototype studio, they conceptualize a game (gameloop , mechanics, graphics style, global narrative) and then hand it over to a full-blown AAA development team (Crystal D. in the case of Perfect Dark) to finish the product, and then move on to a new concept, so maybe the people moving on from the studio thought their work was done on the 'Perfect Dark prototype' and got a different opportunity in the games industry somewhere else, like people said here, people move around in the gamingindustry alle the time.

Well 2 hours sounds a lot better than the 8 hour (it really seemed that long) indie show of last year

Great month imho, so much I want to try, even F1 I'm gonna dabble with, but Zero escape, Crusaders, the Dungeon game... too many games.

My 6 year old daughter is stoked for the Spongebob game... so hope she will enjoy it, probably will.

Infernax, nostalgic platformer just beats ME trilogy for me.

For PS5, balanced mode targeting 60fps in QHD...... weird to me, as far as I know the PS5 doesn't have 1440p support (yet) right? or am I missing something here.

@Shigurui Thanks, being the older gamer that I am, I'm still amazed about that 40 gigabytes is considered a relatively small size these days, gamed on a c64 with 48 kilobyte free ram, waiting for an hour to load a game from a audiocassette

Back to the drawing board, refund everybody, and come back with BF 2023. Saw steam player count yesterday was 1700, that's basically on life support, but clinically dead.

Don't see it mentioned, so how big is the game in GB?, I think this will be important information for people wanting to pre-install, got decent fiber internet so won't be much of an issue for me....

@Grahamthecracker, same here, so many times I forgot to login to the gamepass app on my phone, even missed the 1k monthly quest cause of it, so I don't really mind the omission of that one, overall I really like the reward system, it's free store credit after all, 95% of the quests aren't that difficult, it's basically just play games, which we all do right?. Last month or so I spent all my points on Dying Light Platinum edition, and now I'm almost at 10k points again (got the 20 week quest streak which netted 2.5 k).

Too bad those 2.5 k point thingies never happen to us in the Netherlands (I think the whole of mainland Europe as well)

Very cool, Sony should take note of this, not every upgrade has to cost 10$.

Yeah I also got VRR working, on a series X with a Iiyama monitor (freesync premium pro 165hz) which is a hdmi 2.0 monitor.

I voted for Far Changing Tides, but definitely gonna try Flight Sim on my phone, with a controller, no touch controls as of yet, that would be awesome btw, during commute flying casually round the world....

I was gonna buy it, but glad I waited, because despite its stellar reviews, people are having serious performance issues ,especially on newer consoles, like the one x/ps4 pro versions run better than current gen versions like @Medic_Alert mentions, so I wait till there are some more patches out.

I hope they have some real traction on gamepass, cause the game is so much fun at it's core, but it has been a long time in the game preview state, they are still updating it, but smaller updates, I hope the money they get from gamepass will allow them to flesh out the game more, and more importantly make the promised xbox version of the game!.

finished it, now for the last achievement 'nobody saves the world twice', doing it all over again (with maxed out characters), pretty tough dungeons this time.... but still a lot of fun, also recommend it highly to people who skipped it, it's so well done, and absolutely flawless, no bugs whatsoever, in my experience, which is rare these days.

Awesome game, thanks for the review, I probably would not have touched it, but now I tried it, and really loving it, getting a real nostalgic feel with the soundtrack and the graphics, yeah it's really hard at times, but there are a good amount of save points, so still have it in the classic mode (the harder one).
