I'm now feeling a bit more confident about my Series S purchase! After seeing so much amazing Series X stuff lately, I was starting to worry I'd made the wrong choice.
I chose the S over the X and hearing things like this is reassuring! I'm not fussed about 4K, but I'd still very much like to get decent performance (especially when it comes to frame rate). Considering how much it costs, the S seems like an absolute steal!
Tweets like this annoy me. To assume that Xbox haven't thought about this a million times already is just plain stupid. Of course they have — but as Phil says, it's one of many things they're trying to do and these things take time. It's not a case of simply flicking a switch and it's done.
Anyway, this would be a great feature to have eventually.
Somewhat related question: how is Wasteland 3 on console? The idea of playing it on xCloud is a huge plus for me, but not sure if I'm denying myself the best experience by not playing it on my PC. At same time, I currently spend all day sat at the same desk and so being able to lounge on the sofa with my phone would be fab.
I have finally committed to beating Ori and the Blind Forest. I got the game back when I bought my OG Xbox One and got about halfway before moving on for some reason. No idea why, as it's a fantastic, beautiful game and it plays so well. I've just rescued the Ginzo Tree — and the stress of reliving the escape section has brought back painful 'Nam-style flashbacks XD
Otherwise, some Sea of Thieves with chums when we all can! Last night I blew up a 3-person Brigantine with a stronghold gunpowder keg. Everyone on board (including me) went out in a bang. The other players didn't appreciate my "Well, that was an explosive introduction, don't ya think?" while on the Ferry of the Damned...
I'm curious — how does it work with Xbox Play Anywhere? I would guess that if I go from console to PC that I would need to still save my game (be that auto-save or manual) and my PC would load from the save? And not where I'm at in quick resume?
Perhaps doesn't need to be essential, but I would very much like it to be the norm, especially in fast-paced action games (and competitive multiplayer titles).
It's my girlfriend's birthday on 10 November, so my chances of playing my shiny new Series S are already scuppered! But the day after, I'm thinking of saving Doom Eternal for it. My friend and I are planning to play through Vermintide 2 together as well.
My mate and I are super hopeful that Sea of Thieves will get the Smart Delivery upgrade at launch. We both play on PC currently, but his rig is a bit older and getting a performance boost from the new console would be fab. Especially as you can still use keyboard and mouse with it!
I'm very close to finishing Children of Morta. Otherwise, I'm working my way through Tell Me Why and Hotshot Racing. Am really enjoying them all.
I'm playing Children of Morta on PC primarily, because the load times on console/cloud are unbearably long. The other two have mainly been on cloud, although TMW is also installed on my PC — looks fantastic on that!
It generally works without any problems for me. Did encounter a weird issue last night where I'd keep losing connection temporarily, but perhaps launch day traffic is to blame?
It was superb throughout the beta, and I'm glad to see it's still delivering. I played Tell Me Why during my lunch break today and it was so smooth. Also looks great on mobile!
For anyone experiencing stuttering/freezing (or perhaps a constant low signal notification in the top left): make sure you're definitely connected on a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection. I've found that my router will often (re)connect me to the 2.4GHz band without me realising it.
It should be possible to configure your router to have two different connections you can select — one for each band. I still need to set this up on mine.
Alternatively, do what I was doing and re-connect your phone to the Wi-Fi while standing right next to the router. (I'm such a heathen, but it works!)
I am so happy with this launch line-up. So many games, and I'm particularly happy to see lots of indie titles in there. I really enjoyed the beta and was thoroughly impressed by the performance. Let's just hope that remains the case once it goes public!
I gave Hotshot Racing a go yesterday and it was really good fun. As Fraser says, the AI are sufficiently irritating! (Although the British character I was playing as was arguably even more annoying!)
Otherwise, I'm gradually making my way through Children of Morta. It's a real gem of a game, and way more atmospheric and emotive than I was expecting.
Interested to hear from PJ about how Black Desert is. I've been intrigued to see what it's like for a while now. Guess I could just play it though!
This was an incredibly useful read. Nice to hear that you can download next-gen games to a USB hard drive and then transfer when you're ready. Also means my current 2TB drive is fine for X1/360/OG games too!
I'll probably get the 1TB expansion at some point though.
I think the Series S may be the way to go for me! I have a gaming PC and intend to upgrade that in the near future, so think the X might have been overkill (and too expensive for my wallet) in addition to that.
Provided the specs are all right, I could see this as being an excellent companion console for when I'm not able to use the PC or just want to sit in the lounge and enjoy Game Pass games.

Re: Another 6 Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Later This Month (Oct 30)
Very glad I recently played through Tacoma! Immersive game and only takes about two hours to beat — so get in before it goes, people!

Re: Talking Point: What Happens To Your Xbox One When You Go Next-Gen?
Am thinking my OG Xbox One will go in the bedroom. Not sure how often I'll use it though!

I finally finished Children of Morta. It's a fantastic, beautiful game and I really recommend giving it a go.
Am now focused on finishing Tell Me Why...when I'm not being a terror of the seas in Sea of Thieves.
Re: Microsoft Explains Why The Xbox Series Expansion Card Is So Expensive
Fair to say, I think a lot of us are going to be waiting for this to come down in price. That or we could sell a few kidneys between us?
Must say, I could definitely do with it. Children of Morta is currently so painfully slow to load on console and Android...

@playstation_king Good shout on the Razer Kishi. I have one and I absolutely love it.
Re: These 5 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass Soon (Sep 17-24)
Chuffed to see Night in the Woods on there. Been on my Steam wishlist for a while now, so this will be the motivation to finally play it!
