DOOM Eternal Blasts Its Way To Xbox Game Pass In October

I am super excited for this! I've been wanting to purchase this, now we get it with Game Pass and it's right around the corner.

I mean, in still gonna get the Switch version, but this is amazing.

Bah only on console and i don't get one till November. Can't wait to try it. Gamepass is just checking off my shopping list, was gonna buy Star Wars BFII....on EA play, was going to buy Doom Eternal...no need. Ill have plenty to play so no rush but AC Valhalla would be a nice inclusion as well at some point.

This game is freaking incredible. Such a step up in difficulty, presentation, combat and even story from the 2016 reboot. Definitely pick this one up on Game Pass if you haven't gotten the game already. A definite GOTY contender imo.

Because of the great moves Microsoft have been making, I signed up to game pass. I’m not really a fan of subscriptions, but for value, game pass is a phenomenal service. I will def be playing doom eternal on game pass.

Going to make an assumption that as this is now owned by MS it has to stay on game pass forever now? Really looking forward to this game but can't get hold of the Series X yet so as long as its true that all MS owned games stay on Game Pass I can chill knowing it'll be there waiting for me...

@Dezzy70 I don't think they've announced a date yet, not to my knowledge at least.

Bought this at launch and didn't enjoy it as much as the last Doom game but its still very good

Great news now I can rip and tear on XSX on November 10th before Cyberpunk 2077 on 19th November.

@Dezzy70 no but Xbox will put some focus on that now as without Halo Xbox would love Eternal to look it's best. I wonder will Eternal even be upgraded for PS5 now.

@Somberpizza seriously doubtful (just like add on for Outer World's was extra) it will be paid albeit possibly discounted if we are lucky. Great generation for Xbox coming up.

A thing that gets to me, recently I got tons of digital Bethesda games on sale, despite having the disk versions. Now they all are coming to GamePass, permanently, making me feel a bit foolish 😅

Don't mind too much, though, even if technically I don't think I'll ever make use of those purchases.

Moments like this, I wish we could re-sell digitally owned games.

I’ve been playing on XBOX ONE X, with a 55inch 4K TV and Doom Eternal is hell on Earth!

Radically different to Doom 2016, with puzzles and platforms to overcome but an incredible FPS experience.

Who needs a Series X when you’ve got a ONE X 🙊

@Rikdangerousxd I was going to buy Eternal for my PS5, but now that Bethesda belongs to MS, I will definitely want to have their games on an MS ecosystem, even if the PS5 Doom Eternal receives an upgrade.

@TheFrenchiestFry is it playable for someone who is not as good a twitch based shooters? I’ve heard it’s very fast paced.

I'm hopeless at twitch based shooters but will definitely be first in line for this, as I've got game pass ultimate. Loving life

@Tharsman same including Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2 and Prey. But i’m not that fussed. Im not gonna stop buying games out of fear they will come to gamepass in the future!

JK, I don't regret it, honestly. Although I might hold a bit back on buying games simply because they happen to be on a big discount, at least not from big publishers that do regular sales, unless I have time to play them soon after purchase.

Hell, might play Prey now before it goes into GamePass, and then i can justify it. 😋

@Tharsman okay fair enough I hovered over Like A Dragon on the store and then hesitated due to Gamepass myself. Argh! Maybe i’ll just wait for Launch day.

@xMightyMatt14x It's definitely playable, and there is a difficulty select for the campaign itself just like 2016 DOOM but twitch reactions are definitely more rewarding for players just as a heads up

@Tharsman I bought a few wolfenstein games and doom 2016 recently. Decided to hold back on doom eternal bc at the moment I didn't want to spend more than $20 on one game alone. So I kind of know what you mean on the feeling foolish part.

I played Doom on Game Pass, it's classic fun with new (and brutal) visuals. I also played Wolfenstein The New Order on Game Pass, I liked the story but the level design is sometimes non-logical and it's quite difficult. I'll play Doom Eternal and the other Wolfenstein games on Game Pass but I was surprised to like the new Doom more than the new Wolfenstein. Do I like Id more than Machine Games? I think so. I want to try Black, that game that looks like Goldeneye 007 (which I love).

@BlueOcean That's nearly impossible to happen. There was some company trying to do a hostile takeover, and just to make sure even that was not an option they changed the contract of every employee to add a poison pill clause (usually a clause that would grant all employees tons of money and, potentially, drive the company bankrupt.)

I don't think they want to be acquired by anyone, and because of the above, even a hostile takeover is impossible. Not that they MS would try hostile takeovers, those never develop any good will and its hard to keep a company running afterwards. Those are usually practices employed by investors that truly want to destroy the company and gut it to pieces (See Toy's R Us.)

@Tharsman I know it won't happen, it was a joke. It seems that Microsoft and ZeniMax (or Bethesda) have been friends for a long time, it seems a logical acquisition. Microsoft won't acquire any studio that doesn't want to because they are granting the studios autonomy. Ubisoft is huge, can't believe they started as a French studio. How far they have gone.

@BlueOcean I also think ZeniMax was a private company, a VERY rare thing among huge publishers like that.

I always assumed ZeniMax was publicly traded, but cant find any info of it being so before this announcement.

Being private makes the acquisition process a LOT smoother.

It is a shame that Phil was not in charge back then (and/or had not earned the trust of Nadella yet to open the cash vaults,) because I could see a scenario where Capcom was getting ready to shutter the Dead Rising Studio, but Microsoft walked in and purchased it from Capcom to continue Dead Rising as first party IP.

@Ralizah i read the deal doesn't get closed fully until mid year 2021 so I'm not sure what their plan will be. I imagine Microsoft would want to add a game a month just to show something big n new each month but who knows. Ill be downloading this when I get my x. Game looks a bit crazy, drop an edible and enjoy the ride.

@FraserG It's pure classic fun, the game seems designed exclusively around the gameplay and it doesn't even feel repetitive. Wolfenstein The New Order is not a bad game but there are some serious level design epic mistakes.

@Justifier They will add all ZeniMax games, just wait a bit 😉.

The Evil Within games are very good, too.
