@Cakefish @RegnumSolipsi Microsoft/Xbox executives being pleased with Everwild's progress was the word of professional rumour-monger Jez Corden, so make of that what you will.
@Cakefish so is Prince of Persia. I wouldn't put money on Beyond Good & Evil 2 ever releasing.
@FraserG the article mentions six games being cancelled but the blurbs only reference five (Sands of Time and four unannounced games). Any word on what the sixth one is?
@Fiendish-Beaver my reasoning for a vague 2026 window being given next week is that Microsoft must - right now anyway - have a certain confidence that Fable will release this year to be giving it such a spotlight. This isn't a massive presentation with dozens of games, so by focusing one third (that we know of right now for certain) of a presentation on Fable, I feel like they'll actually say 2026. Of course, things change and I do believe it'll delay into 2027, but right now I think Microsoft will specify 2026.
I don't think they'll give any specific date for Fable at next week's Developer_Direct; I think we'll get a vague "2026 🤷♂️". Although, I'm with @Fiendish-Beaver on Fable, in that I think it'll ultimately get pushed again into 2027.
Who knows with Halo? Smart money would've been on November to coincide with the series' 25th anniversary, but then GTA VI happened.
Gears, I could see that in June/July.
@ILuvGames at this point it feels like we'll all be zombies before State of Decay 3 comes out.
I said to my wife when Larry went to Unity that, if I were working in that space, Unity is the absolute last place I'd go. Had he not been paying attention to what the company was up to, oh I don't know, around September 2023?
There's some cool looking games there. Barring any disasters, Forza Horizon 6 will be a rare day one purchase for me.
Also, I like Invincible but damn, that Invincible VS. is one ugly arse video game.
Also also, how many "XX Xbox Series X|S Games To Look Forward To In 202X" articles has Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake appeared in now? What with that and Beyond Good & Evil 2, Ubisoft is becoming to new king of vapourware.
I rolled credits on Pokémon Legends Z-A last night, so I'll be chipping away at Doom: The Dark Ages. Chipping away because, while I do like the game, it's so non-stop, fast and utterly relentless to the point that I can only play a chapter or two before I'm actually tired. I was the same with 2016 and Eternal.
Other than that, I have eShop credit burning a hole in my ePocket so I might see what else I can snag on Switch 2, and I might start The Rogue Prince of Persia.
Also, the citizens of Super Earth call for aid as always, so Helldivers 2.
@Titntin I agree that Microsoft - as a first-party publisher, with more developers than you can shake a stick at - should be absolutely striving for quality. However, that Eurogamer list is nothing definitive. It's their list, their opinion and certainly doesn't warrant close scrutiny. PX just found a tenuous way to link it to Game Pass in order to write another article about Game Pass.
@Weebleman I wasn't going to look up that game because I dreaded what I might find. Curiosity eventually got the better of me though. I'm actually none the wiser as to exactly what the feck is going on 🤣
Some cool looking games there. I loved Pragmata from my time spent with the demo, while the other big one for me in the first half of the year is 007: First Light.
Although, I still have unfinished business with 2025. I'm midway through Doom: The Dark Ages and Pokémon Legends Z-A. There are also a few things from last year I'm yet to get to, the big one being Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
the big quandary is whether "This is an Xbox" will ever resonate with those who believe "Xbox" should always mean "console" above all else.
I don't think that the "This is an Xbox" ad campaign is aimed at those people though, nor does it need to be. Those people are already entrenched within the Xbox brand and ecosystem and don't need convincing; they're going to buy the next Xbox.
I once knew somebody who, in their mid-20s, legitimately thought and swore blind that Mount Everest was - and I quote - "somewhere near Birmingham", and until today that was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard.
@RiverGenie I'm still getting regular emails regarding that. And every time one comes through, I think "oh, didn't I verify my age?" and go to do it... and it turns out I've already done it.

This. But replace Fable 3 with Fable 2.
Edit: No wait! I've played Fable: The Journey as well!
So Fable 2.
