Remember Metal: Hellsinger? This awesome rhythm-shooter was a day one launch on Xbox Game Pass back in 2022, but unfortunately the studio behind it has announced its closure on social media.
The studio is/was known as The Outsiders, and the team has been affected by layoffs at publisher Funcom. In a post on BlueSky, the studio's founder shared the news along with hope that they can "continue on in some form".
Here's a look at it:
When we first played Metal: Hellsinger a few years ago, we actually gave it a fantastic review — an "Excellent" 9/10 to be precise — praising it as a "fiendishly satisfying arcade game that sucks you right into its twisted hellscapes and refuses to let you go". It's no longer on Game Pass these days, but it's well worth buying if you like the sound of it.
As you can see, the game was a high point for Outsiders founder David Goldfarb, and now we're just hoping as much of the team as possible can transition to something else that helps them make another equally amazing new project.
Our best wishes go out to everyone affected by the news at The Outsiders and Funcom.
