@somnambulance and it probably was never meant to be an answer to what you are looking for. Xbox 's presentatiin earlier in their year was clearly their big event with big reveals. This was never going to be anywhere near that level.
It's extremely good value for what it is. Absolutely love mine.
Still find it funny people a few weeks ago claiming that Microsoft selling the Series S was a mistake that they regret when it has clearly helped their sales massively.
Very happy to see this! It is such a brilliant game and definitely my GOTY! The universe Bethesda has created is just so much fun to explore and I'm no where near finding everything to do yet!
The Bethesda roadmap made it pretty clear it was a few years old. Thankfully, there was nothing too shocking or unpredictable that was shared but still a massive shame that it happened.
@BrilliantBill similar to how I feel. A discless Series X isn't surprising considering the Series S and the PS5 digital edition both exist, and the fact the PS5 will soon be discless as standard. A new controller really isn't too surprising either.
The next gen stuff is the most surprising stuff, but their direction of it isn't too surprising in terms of increaseing the integration of the cloud, which is a direction both Xbox and PS are moving in.
Many of the Bethesda games we knew about anyway. A few surprises, but nothing that shocking.
As you said, the leaks weren't that surprising and could have been a lot worse for Microsoft and Xbox.
@Pichuka97 firstly, they are moving towards digital because so are consumers. A significant number of purchases are digital so of course both Sony and Microsoft are moving towards that as well. If the consumers didn't buy digital, the market wouldn't go in that direction. We also don't know it if will or will not have an optional disc drive like the new PS5 will have.
Secondly, how do they look weak? They seem to know exactly their place in the market which is about letting people play Xbox wherever they through gamepass and increasing cloud usage. That is a pretty strong desire and matches what they are currently doing. It's hardly weak and it makes it seem they know exactly their place in the market. Sony is ahead with consoles themselves so Microsoft are pushing gaming onto mobile devices and PC, which is pretty good idea considering the millions of Windows devices about which gives them a great opportunity to bring Xbox, Game Pass, and Cloud Play onto more people than ever.
Thirdly, Xbox is probably among the best for game preservation considering how many older games are on their store and on game pass. It is ridiculous to suggest he's lying when his record says the opposite.
Yep, it wasn't good, but the good thing is that they have appeared to have learned. We have many games in the pipeline, with releases seemingly becoming a lot more frequent across 2024 onwards.
@species8472 it is inevitable and is clearly the direction both Sony and Microsoft are going in, and to be fair, consumers as well. If consumers weren't buying digital, the market wouldn't be going in this direction.
Cloud gaming is so good when it works, and it mostly does. Definitely happy to see it become a bigger part of Xbox, especially when they'll have had more time to get everything working as best as it can.
@species8472 you are not meant to be interested in it. It's a revision for new customers and, similar to the upcoming PS5 revision, will likely have something that makes it cheaper to make. These revisions happen all the time, most are just small enough that no one really notices.
I think people need to get used to a digital future as it's clearly where we are going considering the significant proportion of digital purchases. Plus, Playstation is also revising their PS5s to make them digital only as standard, with an optional discdrive. They are clearly pushing people towards discless.
I've been playing it and it is definitely fun. The world is also really good to drive around. Forza Horizon is definitely better than it, but still going to spend a lot of time in the Motorfest.
@OldGamer999 i don't disagree and their strategy is clearly working, but still doesn't stop many feeling a bit disappointed with Sony as the moment with the PS+ extreme price rises for no reason, a lack of knowledge of upcoming games, and them obsessed with expensive hardware.
One of the worst presentations from the three main gaming companies in recent memory. I have absolutely no hype for the future of Playstation at the moment
I don't know why they are so unwilling to show footage of games that they are working on. That's how you generate hype. Not this massively secretive thing they seem to have going on.
Playstation need to change their slogan to "For the Payers" as they only care about selling expensive hardware at the moment.
At least with Playstation I have Spiderman 2 to look forward to. I'll be playing the Avatar game on Xbox with Ubisoft+
Really good numbers, but definitely not surprising. Despite the odd online comments and reactions at times, a lot of people love the game, myself included. It is easily my GOTY and is the kind of space game I've been waiting for.
Absolutely loving it so far. It is what I expected Starfield to be and is what I wanted it to be. Exploring the universe that Bethesda has created is so enjoyable and catches the feeling I wanted in a space game. The quests and NPCs are really interesting and engaging for me. Can see myself spending many more months playing it!
Completely deserved. The game is brilliant in my opinion and I'm enjoying it a lot. Easily the best exclusive on any consoles I've played for years. Looking forward to exploring the rest of the Starfield universe and meeting all the different characters!
@Ralizah but the game has to have the entire universe in it with an ever changing story with no loading screens and this exact thing that no game developer will ever be able to put in a game this century, and if they don't do all of my specific desires, then it is a terrible game.
I have never seen so many entitled gamers as I have with this game. So many people say that the game is rubbish (yet go on to enjoy it) just because it doesn't have one specific feature. It's ridiculous.
Thankfully, most of the world doesn't use twitter (or X) or these gaming sites so they'll likely have had no expectations and will simply enjoy it if they are having fun.
@Reptilio "decent"? Seriously? It has 86 on metacritic currently (with some stupid criticisms dragging that down). A huge number of sites gave it their best score or one less than that.
It did not get "decent" reviews. It got excellent reviews.
Some people were completely unrealistic in their expectations. That is not the fault of the game and should not be a reason to criticise the game.
This game is exactly what I expected and is exactly what I wanted and I'm having a brilliant time with it. Best exclusive on any system I've played in a long time.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I'd give it 10/10. Have had absolutely no issues with it and am enjoying it massively. This is exactly what I wanted Starfield to be.
@Reptilio most sites have given it perfect scores or just dropped 1 mark. Have we seriously gotten to the point where the best score or extremely close is disappointing?
I know you mentioned the game changing aspect, but it does feel like people have gotten a bit odd with reviews. Starfield has reviewed extremely well, yet some people are acting as if it was terrible (not specifically you in this case, just adding this onto the discussion).
Feels a bit odd to put that it isn't a game changing game in the negatives. Practically no games are, no matter how much the developers say it will be (and I don't think Bethesda said it was very often. I don't remember a single occurrence).
For me, it's GOTY. The universe they have created is just brilliant to play in and I've only really just got started.
Loving it so far. Such a brilliant game and lots of fun! Don't think I'll ever get bored of exploring the worlds and meeting all the different characters
@IOI for me, maps discourage exploration. All I do is just spend the time looking at the map rather than the world around me. Definitely like how it is within Starfield.
Going to unsubscribe from PlayStation Plus when I can. It's just not value for money. The games on the extra tier tend to be a few years old and on sale anyway. The essential tier is getting quite expensive for what it is, especially when most of the multiplayer games I play are on Xbox.
Xbox Game Pass, even with the higher Ultimate tier, is way better value than PS Plus with the main reason being day one exclusives. Can't see myself unsubscribing anytime soon, even if there are a few more price increases.
@Cikajovazmaj I don't think many casuals would even notice that this deal existed and that it has been removed, and if they did, they wouldn't care. Most would end up just seeing it as a temporary special deal, which is perfectly normal.
Makes sense considering the number of big games coming out and how easy it is to just keep creating new accounts to take advantage of the offer considering Game Pass isn't exclusive to consoles. It's the same reason why most companies have stopped free trials/cheap offers.
Game Pass is still a brilliant deal considering the number of day one releases it gets.
@Cikajovazmaj you are using "precedent" to leap from "one game misses one minor feature, possibly temporarily" to "many games will be missing half their major features".
That isn't precedent. That is using one event and massively overreacting and somehow using it to justify the existence of something that hasn't happened and based on what we know, will not happen.
@Cikajovazmaj absolute nonsense. This is one game. Almost all games have released without an issue. It is a massive overreaction to act as if one game missing one minor feature (which could be a temporary missing feature) will mean that games will now be releasing with half their content missing.
September and October have so many games I'm interested in. Starfield, The Crew Motorfest, Assassin's Creed Mirage, Forza Motorsport, Spiderman 2, Super Mario Wonder, and to a lesser extent, Disney Speedstorm.
Who decided that they all needed to release within a few weeks of each other?!
@Jenkinss I think you are overestimating the impact this will have massively.
Many Series S players won't have even heard of this game and the news that co-op being dropped will pass them by, and even if they do hear it, they'll propably react the same way that mant have here - they don't really care.
This is one game. It is hardly a major issue that will create a terrible reputation. Nintendo released a few New 3DS exclusive games. Most people have likely forgot this ever happened.
@InterceptorAlpha because some developers will likely just start being lazy and dropping features that could be on Series S, but just take time. That would obviously be bad for the consumer.
I think exceptions being allowed rather than it being dropped altogether it clearly the better thing to do.
Don't have a problem with this and this is probably how it should be if developers can't make it work. Small features like this being missing will disappoint some, but it isn't a major thing, and it's better than not having the game at all.
@Kevw2006 the evidence that most games haven't had any major issue is clear to almost everyone else. You are the only one having problems with this and making up baseless arguments.
Sorry, but you're talking utter nonsense. Based on what we know, almost all games have released without issue because that is what has happened.
You can go on about hypotheticals all you like, but they are completely baseless and don't help the discussion at all. There is absolutely no point speculating about Starfield. It is completely baseless to even bring that into this discussion.
