So basically Rare is no more. once you loose the heart of what made Rare so many years ago. Being I still have my Ultimate Play the Game games and many of the the N64 titles. when you look at the turnout of the games Rare has released under Microsoft it is dismal.
So is there anybody left at Rare that was with the company prior to the Microsoft buy out. Not including the tea Boy.
would be nice if it streamed your own games from the Xbox to your Meta 3.AS i have a 3s ALREADY. iF THE wIIU could stream to the pad , the Xbox should be able to stream to your 3s . get it sorted Microsoft.
for full back compat , it needs to be with a disc drive, whether the new generation of games will use the disc drive is another matter of course. but if you have Xone / Xbox series disc games you need a disc drive.
who knows what it will be , but i feel physical media on the new system will be a non starter, and for that matter I wont be jumping in. Good luck to those that do.
pick up my Switch 2 Thursday, (fingers crossed) watch the summer game fest on Friday after work. Again will watch a slightly delayed rerun on YouTube Sunday Night of Xbox showcase as again work gets in the way.
@Ricky-Spanish , yeah but i hate digital. , i don't mind paying more for a physical release. I only buy games digitally that are under £10 and sometimes i think that's to high.
its why i havent bought Avowed and South of Midnight. And i dont do gamepass as i dislike subscription services. And dont game online.
actually i might go for this. as i wont pay the high digital price. .. will have to see how it all pans out. Plus Limited Run still have to send me a bunch of games i ordered.
I skipped the original Switch, as i thought Kimishima or whatever his name is, screwed WiiU owners , with many games in development for the system transferred to the Switch. Considering WiiU owners where starved of games . I thought nah not gonna give Ni9ntendo money while he's at the reigns .
But with Switch 2 I will take the plunge. and Ill get to play some of those Switch titles I missed by buying them second hand.
Also with the way Microsoft are screwing up physical releases. and with no physical for Avowed or South of Midnight , it looks like My series X will get less use. And I wont be investing in the next Xbox as things look presently.
I don't do subscriptions really, so Gamepass is not for me. As I like to take my time with games. I don't concentrate on one game till i finish it. I often have many on the go across different formats at any one time.
Switch games I will only buy if on the actual cart. so most Nintendo games and the likes of Cyberpunk (which I never got before) . looks like the Switch 2 will become my new mainline console. While I use the Xbox to finish through the games i do own presently.
Considering I paid £455 for my X with Forza Horizon 5 Digital , if it was say back when i bought my series X a little under 18 months ago. Would I have paid £499 for the console alone? probably not. But there's always deals on , even if its a free game , a bundle or a small discount . i say if you save , £20- £30 then yeah it's worth it. And to be honest wait long enough and your grab a deal. I do think the Series S prices have creeped up to high . £300 for a 512gb model is crazy, cause you know within a month your need extra storage being a digital console. I paid £122 for my expansion card 1TB. now that makes owning a standard series S £422. you may as well bite the bullet on the series x at that point with a disc drive.
it actually makes the disc drive X look like a bargain, because you have a 4K bluray player. Onboard. Now everyone likes a Movie and watching in 4K is reall nice.
I reckon the S series might go up. it's the cheapest way to play current gen titles. Plus if they throw another £20/ e30 then i think it will still sell. As it will still be the cheapest option for current gen.
I think the X series will stay the same , as hiking it any more would completely halt any sales. especially that the next gen could be only two years away. No ones gonna spend £500 on a console that will be replaced in two years.
Anyway in the UK there are numerous series S and X out in the WILDS SECOND HAND.
Just pop into any CEX and your see them . and they give a five year warranty on them now.
@OldGamer999 yes but the Switch 2 is both a home console and portable. Now you could say well Xbox will have a portable soon, but that's another outlay. Plus if your into physical media , the new Xbox portable wont play your discs.
People are saying the Switch 2 offers PS4 / Xone style performance, maybe slightly better. For a handheld at £400. that's pretty good.
@LaurenceJ1987 For me it's Zelda , i have a few Mario games, but Legend of Zelda is what does it for me on Nintendo platforms. I just wish for a new Wave Race , Fzero and 1080 snowboarding.
Shenmue rightly deserved. It pioneered more open worlds in games, a true action RPG with some fine mechanics and firsts. Like the QTE . There are so many games it has inspired. I doubt where have the Yakuza series as it is without Shenmue. even the newer Xuan Wan Sword 7 is inspired by it. Yu Suzuiki is a true pioneer of video gaming.
Super Mario bros of course inspired the many platformers in the past 40 years. And the Ocarina of time , thrusting Link into a full blown 3d world , I loose count of the time spent on that game.
But as BAFTA are saying the most influential games of all time. I cant believe the likes of David Braban and Ian Bell Elite game. Way of the Exploding Fist pioneered modern fighters along with Yie Are Kung Fu. And forget you NOT Jet Set Willy , Knightlore and JetPac
It's crazy that viewing your own game libraries of games installed on your console and or own is not actually permanently on your actual console. Its basically only a bunch of artwork whether it be digital or a disc based game. Its like on 360 , no internet connection and you get no icons , just blank blocks.
Never liked it, tried it at Launch. not for me. I'm a single player game fan. So now they have the next five years planned out. Don't look like Ill be playing any Rare games soon. And I have been following them since the Spectrum days. When they really where the ULTIMATE developers.
I would have said Steep. as I love some skiing and snowboarding games. But then don't Microsoft own the AMPED IP ?. Go on Microsoft , give us a new AMPED. love THAT GAME.
Any handheld would have to support your library of owned games. But of course if you have many physical games then they would need some kind of workaround so that you could download to the handheld via the home console where the disc would provide the license. code which could be wirelessly transferred to your handheld device. It could be possible. with some clever programming. it would be a game changer that would entice more purchasers of such a handheld. I rest my case Microsoft. Get it sorted.
No physical games basically means no , digital games are only worth a ten to twenty pounds to me. . I refuse to pay anymore. With a disc even if the game is part only on disc and the game installed. I have the license on the disc. I can play it when servers are down. and if they all get taken off line.
I haven't bought Avowed because of no physical. And i wont till its dirt cheap in sale. but by then i probably wont bother. Looks like Ill be getting the new Switch. cause at least it will have a physical library.
Thing is PC gaming is cheaper because of all the deals and humble bundles and such like. I'm sure a more PC like Xbox wont see us getting more affordable games. Often PC versions of games are hugely discounted digitally long before the console versions are. Maybe I'll just game on my old systems in the future and forget future generations.
It seems to many Microsoft titles are only digital now which I think looses them more sales then they think. Or if they do go physical many are produced in such low numbers that tracking down a copy physical is game in itself.
Robocop was at full price for ages, I waited ages before i could geta copy at a decent price. I remember everyone was raving about it. yes its on a big discount now digitally but then many games get crazy deals on the digital shop. And a sequel would only be made if the first one did decent numbers. but if you haven't yet played Robo then i suggest everyone dive in.
hahaha, Yes Starfield is intriguing at times. Story wise it like many other futuristic space shooters. Red Faction has a better story.
But when talking about a amazing narrative that holds you, surly the likes of Shenmue , the Yakuza series, The Last of Us, Heavy Rain are more legendary than Starfield
Well I buy mostly physical, and when it comes to walking into a shop and buying physical it's becoming problematic. Game are more or less finished now. CEX is only good for your used copies, with new releases used at crazy prices. Plus they don't get tracked. i suppose because that copy has been sold at new retail in the beginning.
So people do buy physical , just not new. I went into Smyths toys and there selection is so so. but prices vary . some good deals at times and others at Full RRP.
I have this past year bought more physical games than in past years within a 3 month period. but i use online sellers like The Game Collection and Bazaar Bazaar for imports . I even purchased a few limited run games. but i guess they don't count as their imports to.
I don't think physical is dead. its slower and many people import to find the right deals.
But then years ago game shops where everywhere . the likes of Game and Electronics boutique with their 2nd hand buy backs and return polices at the time drove out all the small independent shops. In London there's none left.
So yeah the big boys ruined the independents and once done they drove up there prices , changed their polices , and everyone hates them now.
Plus this year has been a funny year with new releases. , no big hitters till end of the year , as someone here else mentioned.
As far as physical declining , yes it has , modern gamers don't have that attachment to physical from a collectors point .
Will I buy into next gen if there's no Physical , basically NO . I still buy DVD, Bluray, CD, and the resurgence of Vinyl is exciting . Happy New Year all. and let the games flow.
Lovely game, one of the five reasons I bought my Xbox One. Ryse Recore Forza Horizon 3 - the best of the series Gears of War 4 Scalebound - well it was still coming when i bought my Xbox One.
I always say a console should have five games you want to purchase the system.
Must admit that was hard going when I bought my Series X. I was under the Impression StarField was going to blow me away. Unfortunately it didn't.
Its hard to find five games exclusive to Series X/S that would sell me on the system. But I bought for the 4K upgrade .
But it looks like there's a few games coming like Avowed, South of Midnight which look se to put things right in my book anyhow.
I for one enjoyed the show, there are many Xboxers , as i like to call them that joined Xbox after Sega went mulitplat, they like me did this to play Sega's Xbox games. As well as many other Japanese games. For a show aimed at the Japanese market it was a good showcase. and for fans of Japanese games it was cool. m just cause your not into Japanese games does not make it a bad show. Not everyone is into constant FPS and multiplayer online Western games.
So well done Xbox for showcasing some cool Japanese games.
Maybe that's how they keep it all worth while. And help fund the next Xbox.
Some may remember during the 8bit and 16bit days that Sega licensed their games for the likes of the Zx Spectrum,C64,Amstrad cpc, Atari ST and Amiga.
It probably gave them loads of money which helped promote their own 8 bit and 16 bit consoles.
I always wondered if SEGA had done the same during the Dreamcast and Saturn era if Sega would be a hardware manufacturer today.
In the end money talks and if that means we get the next Xbox (I do prefer the controller) all well and be it. And all these games are releasing some time after being on the Xbox platform.
I reckon the next one might be Hellblade 2, as the original was on PS4.
very interested in this. but if the combat is is to much like souls then it will drive me mad. I bought Bloodbourne on PS4 and just cant be bothered with it. Just constant dying. Life of Pi on Series X , another toughie one that I just gave up with.
They should get rid of the adds in total, it takes up vital space , on XBOX one i could list in groups my various games. Having six or so groups . on Series consoles I get two , because the rest is Microsoft trying to sell me stuff. For gods sake I bought the console, bought the games. ruining my dashboard with pointless adds drives me mad.
I like local co op, of course its main era where the 90s and early 2000s . would be nice if more games offered it nowadays. But then I try and avoid paying for online play. last time i did was a a couple years ago. In truth local play is more better when offered now as most people have large screen TV's 50 inch or above.
back in the day we all used to huddle round a 20 inch tv trying to see our portioned five inches of play area. Haha
No skin off my nose, and haven't most who wanted the original already bought it. Considering it has been available on the storefront for ages and at crazy reduced prices.
Anyway I have the original physically on PS3 and digitally on 360
Well there marketing is pretty abysmal. When was the last time you saw a XBOX advertisement, on a billboard, on a bus , Train or railway stations. The cinema, we see PlayStation adverts everywhere.
Also it could be the recent speculation of a New Xbox in 2026. Why would you invest in a console now for it to be replaced in Two and a bit years.
But overall this generation has a been poor with all the cross gen titles that we can still play on Xbox One and PS4 .
Who Knows the next gen could be a eyeopener or a confirmation that gaming has moved on from the having that box by your TV.
Yes a sad day for the 360. but at least there are some big game bargains. unlike when the WiiU store closed as it was mostly indies getting the discounts.
past week i have bought. Star Raiders - hard core shooter Yars Revenge Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil 5 Red Faction Guerrilla Street Fighter X Tekken - fun game The Evil Within Dark stalkers collection some DLC for the Original Tomb Raider reboot. and all for about £20 total.
Shame some of the other publishers didn't get in on the act. Koei Tecmo still wanting full price for their titles. many could have taken a leaf out of Capcoms book.
I liked the first, but alas. NO physical and a no buy for me. Id rather buy retro games physically then purchase a digital game for £50. I've always said the day it all goes digital is the day i stop buying new games.
Yeah like many have said , just create your own liveries.
Instead of licensing all these cars which are already in the game because of their movie connections , how we have some new cars that the series have never had.
give us some classics. like the Reliant Scimitar Ford Cortina Mk3 Gilburn Invader Triumph Herald / Vitesse Peugeot 606 Rover P6 I would pay for fresh new cars. for many that play these games its a nostalgia factor. we either remember these cars as kids, our family owned one or even owned them. one thing i find with Forza , GT and the like is they use the same cars year in year out. its actually getting boring. seems pointless to keep on buying the various iterations.
I only got my Series X last year November . so NOOOO. if i hadn't got one i would have opted for the new disc drive beast. as storage is a joke at 1TB. I already need a expansion card. waiting for the deal on the Western Digital one, i have seen them sell for £120 for 1TB. bit crazy as i have all my non series X enhanced games on a 2TB external hard disc. which was originally connected to my Xbox One Elite.
I liked the first game, it was unusual as is most of Ninja Theory's games. I actually bought my PS3 because I wanted to play Heavenly Sword. And as Just Add Monsters they had that brilliant Kung Fu Chaos , which i would love a sequel to.
They just make good games. Even their take on Devil May Cry is good. Yes some fans where not happy but its still a good game.
I think their games have always been a 7-8 out out of ten. good. each of their games have a unique element, its not just cookie cutter. Reviews are funny, cause if you look at the guy who posted the Netherlands gaming scores it got praised across the board. Probably because of the Nordic linage. If it was set in Old school England with Knights would it have scored higher. Games are all about their connection to the players. I'm from a Pagan background, so it gels with me. Yet their are games I hate because of their depiction or topic. What makes Hellblade stand out is the focus on its authenticity to its characters. and its underlying message.
Something Ubi has got completely wrong with their latest AC games character depiction.
In all Id rather have a couple of games from the likes of Ninja Theory who have a passion for what their doing then then games from the UBI production line of how many games can we get out of this engine .

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2025?
Also ending with COD was a soo lame.
From the opening cinema of the final trailer , i was thinking what could this be,
is it Kojima's new XBOX game, a old IP reinvented, ?
Then it went o COD , LAMO
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2025?
No Perfect Dark was a disappointment, , some nice games shown, but as most are cross platform, (PS5) IT takes the excitement off a bit.
Also how many of these will get physical editions. probably not that many.
so that kind of leaves very few I will play.
Well not until i can grab them in a crazy sale for £20 or under.

Its hard to find five games exclusive to Series X/S that would sell me on the system. But I bought for the 4K upgrade .
But it looks like there's a few games coming like Avowed, South of Midnight which look se to put things right in my book anyhow.
Re: Phil Spencer Congratulates Tokyo Game Show Host On Doing 'An Amazing Job' For Xbox
I for one enjoyed the show, there are many Xboxers , as i like to call them that joined Xbox after Sega went mulitplat, they like me did this to play Sega's Xbox games. As well as many other Japanese games.
For a show aimed at the Japanese market it was a good showcase. and for fans of Japanese games it was cool. m
just cause your not into Japanese games does not make it a bad show.
Not everyone is into constant FPS and multiplayer online Western games.
So well done Xbox for showcasing some cool Japanese games.
Re: Review: Kena: Bridge Of Spirits (Xbox) - Slick Combat & Cute Companions Smooth Over Some Rough Spots
@Cakefish Cool, I might give it a go.
Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week
Re: Review: Kena: Bridge Of Spirits (Xbox) - Slick Combat & Cute Companions Smooth Over Some Rough Spots
very interested in this. but if the combat is is to much like souls then it will drive me mad.
I bought Bloodbourne on PS4 and just cant be bothered with it. Just constant dying.
Life of Pi on Series X , another toughie one that I just gave up with.
Re: Xbox Attracts Controversy Over New McDonald's Ad On The Dashboard
They should get rid of the adds in total, it takes up vital space , on XBOX one i could list in groups my various games.
Having six or so groups . on Series consoles I get two , because the rest is Microsoft trying to sell me stuff.
For gods sake I bought the console, bought the games. ruining my dashboard with pointless adds drives me mad.
Re: Talking Point: Is Local Co-Op On Xbox Still Important To You In 2024?
I like local co op, of course its main era where the 90s and early 2000s . would be nice if more games offered it nowadays.
But then I try and avoid paying for online play. last time i did was a a couple years ago.
In truth local play is more better when offered now as most people have large screen TV's 50 inch or above.
back in the day we all used to huddle round a 20 inch tv trying to see our portioned five inches of play area. Haha
Re: SEGA Confirms Partial Delisting For OG Sonic Generations On Xbox
No skin off my nose, and haven't most who wanted the original already bought it. Considering it has been available on the storefront for ages and at crazy reduced prices.
Anyway I have the original physically on PS3 and digitally on 360
Re: Xbox Console Sales Struggling As Hardware Revenue Nosedives At Microsoft
I await with baited breadth.
Re: PSA: Today Is The Final Day For Microsoft's Xbox 360 Marketplace
Yes a sad day for the 360. but at least there are some big game bargains. unlike when the WiiU store closed as it was mostly indies getting the discounts.
past week i have bought.
Star Raiders - hard core shooter
Yars Revenge
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
Red Faction Guerrilla
Street Fighter X Tekken - fun game
The Evil Within
Dark stalkers collection
some DLC for the Original Tomb Raider reboot.
and all for about £20 total.
Shame some of the other publishers didn't get in on the act.
Koei Tecmo still wanting full price for their titles.
many could have taken a leaf out of Capcoms book.
Happy 360 gaming everyone.
Re: Hellblade 2 Apparently Failed To Crack Top 100 Game Sales In Europe Last Month
I liked the first, but alas. NO physical and a no buy for me.
Id rather buy retro games physically then purchase a digital game for £50.
I've always said the day it all goes digital is the day i stop buying new games.
Re: Forza Horizon 5 'Universal Icons' Car Pack Brings Star-Studded Lineup To Xbox
Yeah like many have said , just create your own liveries.
Instead of licensing all these cars which are already in the game because of their movie connections , how we have some new cars that the series have never had.
give us some classics.
like the Reliant Scimitar
Ford Cortina Mk3
Gilburn Invader
Triumph Herald / Vitesse
Peugeot 606
Rover P6
I would pay for fresh new cars.
for many that play these games its a nostalgia factor. we either remember these cars as kids, our family owned one or even owned them.
one thing i find with Forza , GT and the like is they use the same cars year in year out. its actually getting boring.
seems pointless to keep on buying the various iterations.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Interested In Any Of The New Xbox Series X|S Models?
I only got my Series X last year November . so NOOOO. if i hadn't got one i would have opted for the new disc drive beast.
as storage is a joke at 1TB.
I already need a expansion card.
waiting for the deal on the Western Digital one, i have seen them sell for £120 for 1TB.
bit crazy as i have all my non series X enhanced games on a 2TB external hard disc. which was originally connected to my Xbox One Elite.
Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Xbox's Hellblade 2
