Price is key, also whether it has a disc drive for physical media. No disc drive and people are better off buying a Steam Machine , which is looking to be a nice piece of kit and you'll get all those deals on Steam games.
I reckon if the new Xbox is more then £600 has no disc drive then they will loose a lot of customers to PS6 and the new Steam Machine..
But then saying that , the current systems should still be good for another five years with support going by the amount of games still releasing for the Xbox One generation.
So a new Xbox isn't something i would jump into day one as Im ok with the current system.
I'm enjoying it, gave it a 7 so far. It does what it promised i guess. Though i had never played 2 . so recently i bought a 360 version of no'2 . I have started both games in Tandem. Graphically i think number 2 is more of a feast for the eyes.
Colours pop and the gameplay has the edge . Ninja 4 is a little to grey and muted colours detract from the enjoyment slightly .
But being as i like Platinum games overall i am enjoying 4. Also recently bought Rangebound on Switch and yes its a classic Ninja Gaiden game. Which is a reminder of how hard core and simpler games where back in the day .
update: I have also seen that there's a Xbox only version and a Xbox and Windows version, which is quite confusing , which some stores only stocking the Xbox /Windows version.
Quite odd, when the point of buying the box is to get it on disc. and the dual release is a digital code only.
Talk about sales getting lost due to different box versions out there. Bit of a mess if you ask me.
@SMJ There is no disc version for Xbox , just a code in a box. hence why I'm not supporting it. PS5 I think the game is on disc I believe. but will have to check reviews of that.
of course the price is insane. But for me the outlier is if you have a physical Xbox collection of games you are unable to play them on the Ally.
It would need a connection to the Xbox , so for instance if you wanted to play a physical game it could transfer that game direct from your Xbox series X which would say give a code from the inserted Xbox disc that shows you have the physical disc. This could be a timed limit so once the game is installed your have say 14 days of play on that game. If after 14 days you wanted to still play that game you would have to reconnect your Ally to the Xbox and insert the disc confirming you still had the physical media to get another 14 days use.
Its a simple idea, one which would give the Ally a much needed boost.
it could work a bit like the Switch 2 's game share . but presently its NOT a Xbox if I cant play my physical media on the device.
it is a big jump, it depends how you game, i for don't jump into a new game and have to finish it asap. I kind of go in And out of games, Some times can take two years to finish a game, i kind of get my monies worth.
So i don't use game pass really, i might subscribe to try out a really big game I am wanting to buy in case i hate it.
So as a Xbox user this whole game pass thing does not affect me. If i want to play online with a friend Ill buy the lowest tier for a month and play.
I put all the money i have into actually buying the games. whether at launch or later down the road at a discounted price. .. So yeah Gamepass going up crazy money doesn't really effect me.
But it is a blow to players who play mostly digital and say have bought a series S . GamePass is where they got their fix. For them I feel it is a bad decision, adding old Ubi games and a Fortnight pass does not really cut it. Its just adding fodder to bulk out a Plan which is now not really worth subscribing to.
really love the classics from Japanese car culture. but would like to see the oddballs like the Toyota Crown, Datsun 180, Datsun Cherry, Honda Civic, just because their cars people would have seen or owned from a working or middle class perspective. They don't all have to be super cars.
it is a nice piece of kit, wondering how many are dedicated Xbox gamers getting this or is it just that the market for this device stalled when the Xbox variant was announced.
how where Rog Aly selling in general before the Xbox release, where their figures down, or stable.
Yes they sold 58 consoles the other week in Japan, up a a few units., compared to the lower sales in the West where the console is stalling. Mainly due to this play anywhere, multi platform malarkey. you gotta laugh at these crazy statements.
It's gonna be expensive, and out of many's league. Considering the likes of Indiana Jones and possibly Starfield coming to Switch 2 , surely a unit for £400 was possible.
this really is a system for the rich kids. Its like the Neo Geo AES was back in the day with it's £150 +cartridge games
it's crazy times when a gaming handheld can be £800
it was a Given from recent rumours of Inin suggesting it. I bought a PS4 to play Shenmue 3 . i haven't finished it yet , but it is just a graphically improved Shenmue story, included are all the old traits of the original , but maybe thats what i like about it.
Its Shenmue and I love it. Even though no'3 is limited to a single play area and its more about honing your skills then moving the story along at any great pace.
i love the AA route. I use rechargeable AA's and AAA's in all my console controllers, TV remotes ect. there easy to use, , replaceable at a decent cost and without the flaff of opening up your unit. Plus they don't die and leak if you haven't used a item for a while, you just have to charge them.
+The Atari Jaguar game is so bad, you just die, awful collision detection. I have it still, purely because its one of the worst games ever made. Though i would have to put Highlander the Game as equal , both the 8 bit and 16 bit games are dire.
if you want to upset a gamer , buy him Busby and Highlander. . they may cry for a month.
its a smart idea ! haha i always thought that the Xone version was on disc. And you had to download the series X version. But with Tony hawk it seems the other way.

I will use my Xbox One Elite in my main room to play my Xbox games on my projector. So being able to install compatible games to my Xone is imperative.
yes its been around since the dawn of time, but i wouldn't loose my head over it. HAHA!
only ever used it to see what's new out. never purchased anything on it.
DVD's and Blurays are readily available for most of the films i want to see. And do buy a lot of those . then i use Prime purely because its convenient and you get the free delivery. .
Plus there's nothing like viewing a film at the cinema. which though not cheap anymore, is a nice night out.
As long as you can still access your purchased movies , Not sure how it worked. but if the movie or series is downloaded to your hard drive , can you not just transfer them to a external drive and put them on PC or a media player. amid watch them there. or do you need a certain program to watch the content ?
Anything that has a physical disc. Ninja GAIDEN IV floats my boat. Outer Worlds 2 looks good. but i doubt it will get a physical release, unless it comes to PS5 to.
Ill end up getting a PS5 by Christmas anyway to play exclusives on the platform. so any games not physical on XBOX usually geta physical on PS5.
SO ILL GO THAT ROUTE. Probably pick up the physical copy of Oblivion for one platform or another. plus just having got a Switch 2 I shan't be short of new games to play. Like METROID 4 / Splatoon Raiders and whatever Nintendo unleash over the coming monks.
It was of the games I bought my Series X for. upgrading from my Xone video player. I really liked the game at first , but find that the slog to get anywhere quite tiresome. going to planets and finding you don't have the firepower to overcome the hostiles , resulting in you legging it to another place to find more of the same.
It's like the opportunity to progress is stifled by poor implantation of being able to actually have enough resources to actually complete any missions. The idea is great but its damn frustrating at times.

I doubt Xbox will be in my sights next gen. they don't seem to able to get it right. A shame as good competition to Sony and Nintendo is good. But now they seem like the odd one out at a party sitting alone who everyone ridicules.

Re: Five Years On, Xbox Series S Is Still A Fantastic Place For Current-Gen Gaming
It would have sold more if the unit had a disc drive say for £40 more at launch.
I think a disc drive version may have put the overall units sold for Xbox at around what the Xone sold at least.
Its what kept me away from next gen for more then two years , eventually getting my series X at a decent price with ForzaH5

@kelomaniack OK, but if you want the standard edition its a code in a box. This is the one most of the sellers in the UK are promoting.

I don't see the appeal of Hot wheels , is it me? Hot Wheels is a on rails type of game, your restricted by the track.
Fast and Furious Arcade however does interest me. gives that San Francisco Rush vibe from the looks.
