yes of course everyone will think the leap to be graphical. but how far can you go, to be honest I don't want my games to look like real life. Games should look like games. from the past the best leaps where from the 8 bit era to the 16 bit , playing on your humble spectrum or Atari 2600 to having a Atari ST , Amiga or Megadrive was a leap. Next would put the 32 bit era to the Dreamcast and PS2,OG Xbox as a great leap as higher resolution graphics made everything look wow.
The 7th gen was a epic leap as effects in games got major overhauls, water looked real , games became bigger generally, and Nintendo got us all jumping about.
but since the 7th Gen i don't think the leap has been all that great. yeah we got seamless transitions in gaming. the odd new upgraded effect. shadows and reflections improved.
I still wonder why i got my Series X WHEN I HAVE A CAPABLE Xbox one. Bar having a few, very few i might add Series X only playable games.
Yes maybe they should have knocked the cross gen games a year after this generation came out. but many new games are still cross gen.
So we will never get to see what the likes of these new consoles before the next gen is upon us.
what would i like to see for the next gen! 1) well a console with a Disc drive is a must, especially for back compatibility 2) a New bigger compacity blue ray or type of disc. 200gb minimum 3)decent storage at launch. 4TB minimum 4)AI improved games with voice control and commands as well as having full blown conversations with in game NPCs 5)Cleaner dashboard options, i have the console , you don't need to sell to me by showing me adverts all the time. 6)Don't be stingy on USB ports. 7)A cool design. transparent with LEDs, or featuring a embossed case with all the Xbox game characters like Master Chief , ect 8)Advertise the thing , feature at large events. NOT just in the USA , but across the world. let people know XBOX has arrived. 9) Priority pre-order for all Series X S owners registered on Xbox 10) Give it some colour.
For those with large physical media collections on Xbox , this is a no buy. considering across generations I have approximately 200 or more games physical . i wont be able to play any of those. unless they come up with some complicated authentication process. sorry but I'm OUT.
I voted 2013 Tomb Raider as i thought it was a refreshing game for the time
Yes the originals are totally different games, but as i have those on original hardware My original on Sega Saturn - the game blew me away back then and still does.
the only other Xbox one i really enjoyed was Guardian of Light due to tis more old school style of gameplay.
Kung Fu Chaos 2 Ralisport Challenge 3 Ryse 2 Blinx 3 A New Bruce Lee game Project Gotham Racing reboot Mad Dash Racing 2 A Gears of war meets Halo crossover Recore 2 Tao Feng 2
Troubling to the collectors of the world of which i am one. I do love physical and rarely buy digital over £10. But i must say the minute the games companies go all digital i am done. buying new hardware
I will just get more into the retro scene where some great indies are being physically produced for the likes of the Megadrive, Dreamcast, Jaguar , I purchased Three new Dreamcast Indies last year and one Atari Jaguar one.
I suppose in the meantime it looks like Nintendo and Sony will be the final generation of games on physical media, I guess I will heading over to them before the final Nail in the coffin for Physical is hammered in.
I'm getting very tired of these subscription models. . Just about to cancel my streaming services. after seeing all I want to see on Disney. And Primes new scam to get us all paying extra for no adverts . I'll be putting that money to buying DVD and Bluray.
Lots OF DEVS WAFFELLING on, but I suppose their trying to sell you the game. Highlight for me - Hellblade 2 , I'm a Ninja Theory fan , have all their games. , but I may not get this one as I only buy Physical for mainstream releases. , i don't mind a fiver or tenner for a indie , so unless it comes down in a special in the future i may not play it.
Indiana was ok looking, but yeah the whole first person view thing has me put me off. Xbox needs some good third person adventure games , its sorely lacking. Sony has so many franchises that use 3rd person and Xbox has this obsession with First person view.
Not that I am adverse to all first person games. but feel some just don't work. And having such a iconic character, players want to see the protagonist.
There's a reason why the likes of Spiderman, Horizon zero dawn , Red Dead and others sell by the bucketloads.
Avowed seemed interesting and though first person it looks like it suits the style.
Visons of Mana , though a third party game., looks like a fun and mesmerising world with great design and is on my watch list.
I've only had my Series X less then three months and i find myself not playing it as much as i thought. And am still putting a lot of time in my PS4 .
Starfield I tried on Gamepass, not taking me in , luckily i have loads of games from my Xone i can play . if wasn't for Gotham Knights , Sega's Judgement , which im playing I could still be playing on my Xone.
Really do need more Series XS only games Release HB2 physical then i be there day one.
@johnK ahh really , and its so small. I'm currently redoing my entertainment room and was looking at small drink fridges. I know you can get some quite funky looking ones for £100 or so and they hold three times as much as the Xbox one.
I first started Yakuza on PS2 , The first game on Playstation PS2 is tough as nails for m some of the boss fights. I never managed to do it. But then i am more of a Shenmue fan then Yakuza really. I still have the 0original as well as the second on PS2 which is sealed. And Yakuza 3 on PS3 , sealed. I am currently getting through Yakuza 0 on Xbox , then move onto the Kiwami editions of 1 and 2 as i understand their more forgiving.
I bought Yakuza 5 and 6 in the sale on PSN for my PS4 , SO THERE WAITING.
I recently did start Judgement on Xbox, which is great fun and like some of the alternative ideas and gameplay style of the game. I thought it might just be Yakuza in a new skin, but it does play differently, it's just set in the same game world.
I also have Ishin to install on Xbox once i Finish Judgment.
Now I'm off to the arcades as I need some down time during this investigation of the eye gouging murders.
YEP I WOULD GET ONE OF THESE, I DO LIKE TOAST, Currys in the UK have the Mini Fridge at £69.99 at present. I am tempted but feel it may be to small , a larger one would be better.
Microsoft tried to buy Sega in the 90s , they turned them down. It was Sega who helped set up the Xbox Live system on OG xbox. Sega wanted the XBOX og to be back compat with Dreamcast but Microsoft turned them down .
It wont happen now. Sega is huge now , since their merger with Sammy . Creating Sega Sammy corp. Their gaming division is what keeps the bucks rolling in, Their inhouse teams may be less then in their console days. But they still have the AM2 , RGG formely AM3. Now Nagoshi has gone more games are being annopunced as he was in charge of overall game developement and continusley refused to greenlight projects brought forward, so he could poor resources into Yakuza.
They have set up a new studio to help develop more games. Add to this Atlas, their Western studios. Creative Assembly, Two Point Studios, Relic Entertainement and their massive PC presence with Total War and Company of Heroes. And they just bought Rovio for 1 Billion. The success of the Sonic movies and all the merch and Mini consoles. Sega is fine where it is. and being Japanese it aint gonna happen.
Activision is ok to buy after all the KOtick crap which ruined the companies image. And if Activision goes through we might get some of those long lost IPS resurected that Activision hold.
Return of the Skylanders , Crash, Pitfall, and more.
Can you imagine if Sony lost Yakuza, their would be a meltdown on Pushsquare. But honestly , Sega are best as a multiplatform or as a returning hardware competitor where they make all games exclusive their own console and PC , but we all know that wont happen unless as previous poster said they enter a lower power more fun centric market.
we could really have the old Sega Nintendo wars back. Now that i would love,
Cor a XBOX you cant give away once owned, I take it if I throw it , it will come back to me. If I win it better not smash against the wall when I try it. Because it wont be fit for the purpose, it's Thors hammer for gods sake.
As far as the extended showcase concerned, I thought it was OK, A couple of trailers for games I did not notice in the other show. which was nice. I thought the best part was the way the Flight Simulator update info was done with the tour of the Smithonian Museum,. The Bethesda part was pretty boring for me. Grounded looks fun, I played the beta and found it quite fun for a bit. The game I really dont like the look of is that Dusk to falls or whatever it's called. What a horrible graphic engine, Why would I want to watch that, they talk about it how it deals with mature scenarios in real life, then put a graphics engine like a comic but worse, reminds me of the old video based filmation games everyone made when the CD era hit, like all those Mega CD, Phillips CDI games.
Have they not played Life is Strange series , now thats how you do a mature style of game. I gave it a B as the Flight simulator section was good and the dev is so passionette about the Simulator. Plus Grounded looks like it will be a blast in its full version. And not forgetting the surport and showcase for Ukraine I thought the Bond Woman was gonna lose it at one point. She held it together though.
@AtlanteanMan a good breakdown of how the industry needs a shake up. In a time of coming of Covid, the terrible War and the global recession where all heading for, it would be nice to have some games that are fun, and a bit more exprimental. The constant glut of FPS and rogue like indies, and the batlle royal influx that targets the multiplayer groups that moved over from phone gaming just does not excite . But it seems that all the big three will not really take a gamble anymore. The only thing I'm glad about is the fact I held of getting into the next gen, and still use my WiiU , Xbox One, PS3 for my normal gaming. Nothing out there to make me part with the cash for a Xbox Series X or PS5 at the moment.
I do believe a lot of the problems with these showcases are the presenters to, a fine balance between a dev explaining something that viewers find totaly boring, because a lot of these people do come across as boring personallites, we need people on stage that can express their wow of the game and come across in a way to make you not just look forward to a title but make you want it, even though you may not have even thought about it. Maybe their scripted to much, we need some spontanious outbursts to catch us off guard.
You know I watch a few of these guys on Youtube who put up game review videos and such like and they just go for it. there passion comes across so fresh and honest it make you enjoy the video ,. People like Metal Jesus and Radical Reggie should host the Xbox show. what a crack that would be .
Be nice to see some info on games after the 12 month period, but I guess we wont. As far as Starfield it looks like any other Bethedsa RPG in it's format , they just make the area bigger and change the skin, Medevil, Victorian, Dystopian, and now Space. I think if they created a system where you could talk to NPCS in the game via the mic it would be cool. Think if by conversing with in game characters you could just say what you wanted and they would react.
When you think about it many have lost the art of gameplay advancement and its all graphics and shaders, raytracing and such like. These devs need to go back to the days of the home grown programmers like in the Spectrum days when they came up with ideas to blow your mind, Go back and look at Little Computer People on the Spectrum, how the hell did they manage to do that game on 48k. It still blows me away today.
Plus Xbox need to go back to their early dyas and uncover some of the IPs they own, there where some great games in the early days, I like many would love some PGR more so then any Forza title, because it brought a balance between the open world arcade style of Horizon and the simulator style of Motorsport. But then I feel PGR was a big title in Europe more as we do have different gaming tastes to the Americans. Give me PGR Ralisport Challange Kung Fu Chaos Midtown Madness AMPED- why do we not have a reboot of this magnificent snow based game on Xbox now I must admit Xbox has started to bore me latley with the same ole, same Ole. As a lone gamer I prefer single player centric campaigns and such, It seems XBOX is clearly not viaing for my atention it seems. I just dont like the thought of buying games that are Multiplayer centric, relying on you having a friend online to play that game with. It was different in the ouch co-op days when you all huddled round the TV to face off.
Some TV's are so expensive, seems crazy, I just a bought a electriQ 43inch 4K tv FOR UNDER £250.00 They are a British brand whose products are full of features for a low price point. I looked at the Hisense and found that modern TV's have very few legacy connections. The electriQ HAS 3 hdmi , VGA, RCA ,Composite , Mini Composite, Mini Componenet , 2 USB and Optical out and a headphone jack. So I can get all my legacy stuff wired up. Not even high end LG's have any of those connections. Xbox 360 and PS3, Wii U look amazing on it. and so far have my Megadrive, Jaguar and N64 wired up as well as My Dreamcast to the VGA port. Gets on my tits that modern high end makers drop all older connections, yet the smaller brands offer more. Plus the electriQ TVs come in 55 and 65 inch to. Under £500 for a 65inch TV. And they make some nice gaming moniters to . If on a budget there worth looking at. Not tried my Xone on it as I have that hooked up to a projector .
Before I buy any console it has to have five games that are out or confirmed for the system. Scalebound was the fifth game in my intial list that made me buy a Xbox One. Then it got cancelled, which I was well peeved at as I'm a fan of Japanese games and Platinum.
Though Platinum games dont usually sell massive numbers as they are niche, the likes of Bayonetta did well and I think Scalebound would have been in that Ballpark.
I have most of Platinum's games across various systems, I think the only one I dont have on a actual system I own is the TMNT game they did.
So would I like Microsoft to give Platinum another chance at delivering Scalebound? Yes as it's concept is one I liked and being a Platinum game they always have certain play mechanics. Another developer would not capture that.
So yes I would like to see Scalebound get a second chance. Of course it wont be on my trusty Xbox One. But it would be a game going towards that list of five to convince me to get a Xbox Series X in the future. At the Moment there's only one title coming to the system thats making the count and that's the new King of Fighters game. As everything else I want to play on Xbox is playable on my Xbox One at present.
Note to Phil , you need to make sure new games now are Xbox Series only as what reason do people have to upgrade ,
@JayJ Bit I do find that Xbox is quite rampant with them. Yes Cinematic games are abundant but more so on Sony's consoles. Its just a shame these days that the big boys just wont take a risk anymore..
Dynasty Warriors 9 SOUNDS NICE. Love a bit of Mousu. Wish the Total War games where on Xbox, just dont own a powerful enough PC to run them. Plus I prefer to sit back and game rather then to sit at a Computer desk.
How these develeopers can sit there year after year making the same game baffles me. OK Im sure their all comfortable. But how soul destroying... How many COD games do you need? I think I have four or five out of all of them, I havent played them all even. There all right for a blast around. But why do people just keep buying them year after year. I once bought a used PS3 of someone, it came with every COD game on that system and a couple of Battle fronts.. I thought here's a gamer that diversifies. I sold all but one of the COD's and recouped half the price of the price i paid.. Hey it was 60GB PS3 fat , the holy grail Boxed. But i thought whats with all the CODs ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Enough with the FPS wagon, stop it . so fed up with constant FPS drivel. Dont you just get bored to death with running around shooting people .. ahhhhhhhh!
Yeah it all seems a bit of a coincidence. Xbox are on a roll and spending and after more then Twenty years they decide to confront Microsoft.. Proabaly thinks its a good time to get some dosh.. Microsoft will pay up rather then risk delay to the TV show. And it will be like pennies to them and their be in good stead. Yes you do hear often how corperations basically steal music via dubious ways and the original composers get shafted. But Twenty years just seems so long to get things moving.
Back in 1999 Halo would have been Dreamcast bound from what I have read. It was moved to Xbox after Sega's withdrawal from the Hardwear market in 2001... Wonder who the original Publishers would have been back then, if it was Sega, Sega would have gone , Yeah we got no money , go swivel.
Love Titanfall 2, I found Fallen order quite fun as a small fan of the Star Wars universe. I only played it on Gamepass unlike Titanfall which I bought. But Respawn are good at what they do and any new game from them is a welcome thing to look forward to.
Hi all, Yes the Series S is great for those entering the new generation on a budget and who are more casual gamers, where gamepass is what they prefer. But for many hardcore gamers the Series X is what they want, But I think not so much for it being a 4K beast.
Being digital is off putting to many hardcore gamers , yes many will argue the modern age is the digital age, but for myself and many we like physical games. Yes to hold in our hand our purchase is what we want. Nothing like opening that new game , getting that shrink wrap of and placing it on your shelf.
And like myself , many just can not afford a console like the Series X or PS5. The most I have paid for a console is £300.
And as I dont have a 4K TV, and probably won't have one for some time as I play most of my games on a 80 inch projection screen using my 1080P budget projector.
So what would be ideal for me is the Series S+ = A SERIES S with a disc drive. sell it for £299.00 and it well sell like hot cakes . Physical media is not going anywhere to soon, and when it does I will not be taking part in any gneration of digital only gaming. I will hang up my gaming hat , well I will just play my old stuff to be honest.
In my opinion Microsoft have the chance to clean up with a cheaper disc drive machine aimed at 1080P players, because I would jump in right away.

Re: Poll: When Do You Think Xbox Will Release Its Next-Generation Console?
I think 2026 is possible , that's what i voted. But yes 2027 makes more sense.
but in the end its not something i would buy straight of the bat.
and NO disc drive would be a no buy from me anyway.
I always said once any of the big three go all digital , i wont bother any anymore and stick with what i have.
Might as well buy a Powerful game PC and get cheap PC games on steam or the like when that happens.

Project Gotham Racing reboot
Mad Dash Racing 2
A Gears of war meets Halo crossover

Give me PGR
Ralisport Challange
Kung Fu Chaos
Midtown Madness
AMPED- why do we not have a reboot of this magnificent snow based game on Xbox now
I must admit Xbox has started to bore me latley with the same ole, same Ole.
Re: Best 4K TVs For Xbox Series X
Re: Hideki Kamiya Is "Totally Serious" About Reviving Scalebound
Note to Phil , you need to make sure new games now are Xbox Series only as what reason do people have to upgrade ,
Re: Hands On: CrossfireX Operation Catalyst Feels Like A Decade-Old COD Clone
@JayJ Bit I do find that Xbox is quite rampant with them. Yes Cinematic games are abundant but more so on Sony's consoles. Its just a shame these days that the big boys just wont take a risk anymore..
Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (February 14-18)
Dynasty Warriors 9 SOUNDS NICE. Love a bit of Mousu. Wish the Total War games where on Xbox, just dont own a powerful enough PC to run them. Plus I prefer to sit back and game rather then to sit at a Computer desk.
Re: Call Of Duty 2022 And Warzone 2 Details Revealed By Activision
But i thought whats with all the CODs
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Re: Hands On: CrossfireX Operation Catalyst Feels Like A Decade-Old COD Clone
Enough with the FPS wagon, stop it . so fed up with constant FPS drivel. Dont you just get bored to death with running around shooting people .. ahhhhhhhh!
Re: Halo's OG Composers Are Suing Microsoft Over 20 Years Of Unpaid Royalties
Re: EA Confirms Respawn Is Working On Three New Star Wars Games
Love Titanfall 2, I found Fallen order quite fun as a small fan of the Star Wars universe. I only played it on Gamepass unlike Titanfall which I bought. But Respawn are good at what they do and any new game from them is a welcome thing to look forward to.
Re: Xbox Series S Deal Drops Console To Its Lowest Price Yet In UK
