@FraserG For me it's because they want to raise the price anyway. The additions are just smoke & mirrors to make it look like a good deal and not have people realise that it was always about the price increase.
I wasn't originally, but caught some preview videos and thought yeah I'm in. Looks really nice and a lot of fun. Saved some cash elsewhere and sold an old game so it worked out.
CD Keys (now Loaded seemingly) is the place to look. Saved a fortune getting pre-orders and game pass subscriptions there.
I used to LOVE these games back when the series first began on Megadrive etc. I had the very first one!
I came away from American sports for a good while but nowadays enjoy NBA 2K games, Madden and the College Football revival. NHL though strangely has lost its feel for me and I'm not sure why that is. I've dabbled a little on EA Play with older versions in the last years but it just doesn't quite grab me. I can't quite put my finger on why though.
@BAMozzy I just don't get why people have to overthink what's doing well and why and start getting all into intricate details about what articles mean about which is doing well and all that jazz.
At the end of the day there's 3 games releasing in one month which are big titles for Game Pass. Obviously some will like them more than others, but that's the news. 3 relatively big game pass releases in a month means it's a big month for Microsoft games and most fans of Day 1 games. Does it really matter if not all are exclusive or what this all means in the big picture of consoles and companies?
I find the same with wrestling fans. Rather than just enjoy what they enjoy and not what they don't, some just can't help getting into analysing which wrestlers draw more money blah blah, like they have some sort of management or financial interest in it or something. For me it's irrelevant, I just focus on good games coming to a service I have or which good games come out on the consoles rather than obsessing over what it all supposedly means for sales figures and corporate interests.
@BAMozzy why does it have to be a console war thing again?
3 big releases on Xbox but all 3 of them on Xbox Game Pass on Day 1. So obviously it's a big month for Xbox regardless of if some are also on PS5 (and they aren't going onto PS Plus anyway.)
I just don't get people's fascination with scrutinising what means which company are 'winning' or 'losing' all the time. We're getting 3 new releases on Game Pass. That's really good.
@Fiendish-Beaver essentially it began because you said if there had been a war then Sony would have won it, which he took issue with and then began saying why would Sony have won and Microsoft lost.
I find it amusing that two people spoke about and accused each other of still keeping up the console wars whilst both ironically doing that very same thing typing out essays to each other 😂
I just don't get why people feel the need to delve deeply into sales and business tactics etc. Just enjoy the consoles/games. We're not being paid to do business courses.
@Fiendish-Beaver I remember having 4 channels I think growing up.
My first movie in the cinema was the animated Transformers The Movie with my dad. I cried at Optimus Prime's sudden dramatic head swivel as he died in it 😂
@Ricky-Spanish That clown doll always creeped me out too!
I'm stuck here as I've spent a fortune recently but am tempted by this. I do have this nagging feeling that it means it's about to pop up on Game Pass like Robocop did though so it's a 50/50 situation!
I think Teardown is part of this sale? I finally got around to trying it on PS Plus Extra last night a couple of days before the damn thing leaves there and loved it! Serves me right for keep putting off trying new games out. It's dear on PlayStation but the various editions are on sale right now on Xbox and the Ultimate Edition is the cheapest of all versions.
I may give this a try now they have the Premier League license in fully. I used to love the old versions (the Championship Manager days were the best in childhood!) but the lack of licenses for the main teams always ruined it for me in recent years.
Speaking of Game Pass drops, has there been any ideas or rumours about F1 Manager 2024 dropping at all soon?
As 23 randomly appeared (much to my happiness as I was coming close to paying for it) last year, it's made me wonder if 2024 will follow but I haven't seen any news or rumours to suggest so yet.
I would have thought doing it one year would make the next likely?
I've been having a think and to be honest whilst I'm irritated that they've hiked the price again it's not the end of the world.
Whilst owning games IS better than kinda renting them on a subscription service...when I add up the price of new games today (around £60) and also factor in the sheer amount of games on game pass and how much keeps being added...it's still incredible value.
Now saying that I very much DON'T want constant increases or them seeing opinions like this and thinking "hmm, I wonder how much people would pay 🤔" because regardless of value it would still price me out going up by much more, but on the whole it's still good value and it still trumps the available selection on PS Plus by FAR (and I have access to both so no need for me to pick sides.)
People have probably said this but let me do Tom Hanks Big hand raise "I don't get it" here...
Surely increasing the price means you're just as likely to lose plenty of people already subscribing...so unless you're picking up A LOT of new subscribers to outweigh that (and how does "Hey guess what, we just put the prices up!" help that any?!) then surely you're either worse off than you were before or probably in not much of a different position after.
Meh, we have all the back catalogue of CoD games already and the last few take up a ridiculous amount of hard disk space so it's just another reminder that we're paying more money for one franchise that I didn't want for the most part.
Cloud gaming is very hit and miss and anything with even half decent graphics performs badly despite my fast connection aswell so it's not like that's a selling point to use them either.
Outside of doing challenges on Fortnite and career mode on EAFC (which has also waned a lot in recent years) I've found my gaming days seem to be long behind me for the most part up until recently.
See I love the IDEA of huge open worlds with a million possibilities, and I've stacked up a fair amount of those games on top of what's also available on game pass...yet I just get way too overwhelmed with these types of games. I either have way too much choice or the game is needlessly complex, or another pet peeve is the game is keeping me on training wheels so long that I get really bored and frustrated at just wanting to be let loose on the damn thing and let me figure it out myself.
Now I'm finding that games like Brotato, Wreckfest and similar are pulling me back in because they're simple to just jump into and have fun. It feels like games are now developed like blockbuster movies. It can be fun once in a while but not every game needs to follow that route.
Also I'm enjoying The First Descendant a lot right now and that's because even though the levelling up and whatnot seems complex on the outside, it's so easy to just jump in and keep blasting waves of enemies without having to overthink it.
I just got another 3 months from CD Keys which takes me up until December. Was just under £22.
As people have said, it isn't a drastic increase but the fact they keep notching it up and more that they lied about making changes after blowing so much money buying up studios is what rankles.
On the whole it is still value for money for me and mine, especially buying codes which I'll be interested to see what price they are later this year.
If they're going to continually bump it repeatedly though....
Have been trying The First Descendant this morning. I also plan on trying the Dead Space remake, The Callisto Protocol and Death Loop this afternoon. May also try a bit of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and also Wildlands aswell.
I want to play it as I like the feel of the game from the intro...just it keeps freezing up then crashing at the exact same point when Karel has captured Bunny.
This will be huge. I've almost delved back into Football Manager a couple of times (was a big Championship Manager player in my youth. The glory days!) but lack of licenses kills any realism for me. Now I can actually have a go. Hope it's on Game Pass again.
I was a PlayStation guy through and through for the life cycle of the PS1 and PS2. Loved them and didn't see that ever changing. I also thought the OG Xbox looked like a massive brick and wasn't overly impressed with anything about it.
Basically what happened was I was planning to upgrade from PS2 to PS3. I had the money ready to go but the PS3 kept getting delayed. Eventually I bought an Xbox 360 Mag (I miss the days of magazines) and kept feeling tempted by what I saw coming out there, to the point I folded and bought a 360 instead.
LOVED it and have never looked back. Now on Series X, game share with a mate that has a large catalogue of games on top of what I own and us having Game Pass which we've both paid for at different times over the last year's.
Actually intrigued by this. The Madden series stagnated years ago but I wonder if this will feel a lot different or if it will just be another EA cash grab 🤔
@nomither "i dont know, i buy games just to look at them in my library, maybe play the tutorial and then hop off. i blame live service for doing this to me."
I get this too but find one thing that really messes me up is said tutorials.
My attention span doesn't last very long so I get seriously impatient when games force me to hold their hand for ages coming in. I get why a lot do but give me the option to just mess around and figure it out for myself if I want to!!
I feel there's so many games I love the look and sound of but the tutorial or even the thought of it most likely having a tutorial puts me off ever playing them.
Still Fortnite a bit each day, although I think I've gotten enough out of the battle pass to be happy with it now after a few bonus items. I do enjoy the game mostly though either way (on zero build at least!)
Brotato is still my daily fun time, as is a bit of Lonely Mountain Downhill, both from Game Pass.
As I'm looking forward to Trail Out soon I've also gotten back into Wreckfest and working my way through the latter stage competitions. Still a really fun game.
The people saying about private hikes being inevitable and fine etc are also glossing over the fact we just had one. You don't raise prices every 5 minutes.
This is such a gamble if they did because for every potential sign up you also risk a mass drop of current subscribers. I really don't think it balances out well or goes up as well as they imagine it will.
Me and my son will play CoD occasionally, but we own almost all of them anyway and the size of each game (the newer ones especially) means we don't even have them installed most of the time. I'm not paying another price hike for CoD games to be added.
These companies also have to remember there's a cost of living crisis going on all over. At some point people can't afford to keep getting hiked for entertainment services and will just drop them. It's why I no longer use Netflix or Disney etc because the price keeps going up purely for me to have the option to watch things...most of which I then don't. Eventually people realise they're paying more and more for this scenario and it's not worth it.
Awesome. I hope they improve some of the janky crashes and driver behaviour, along with making it easier to negotiate with staff (it feels impossible at the moment because you just have to guess how much to overpay and often fail trying) and make the world feel a bit more real by adding more feedback and things like personalities and rivalries between drivers etc.
The game is very very good so those things would really put it over the top I think.
If it were around £15 a month for GP AND Ubi+ then yeah...otherwise nah.
The fact that Ubisoft has such a small catalogue but charges more than Game Pass is a slap in the face. The more these models and pricing structures are encouraged, the higher the pricing and the lack of physical content owned will increase.
I recently stopped subscribing to Disney+ and I won't go back to Netflix either because I end up paying money every month for the possibility of watching several things...most of which I end up not watching so I'm literally throwing money out of my window. This is how they want everyone now, paying for the OPTION to do things which mostly you don't or can't have enough time to even do.
As people stated above, there's too many subscription models around already on TV and now Ubisoft have decided to jump on and offer an overpriced service which only encourages others if people support it.
If it's going to happen, then ONE service like Game Pass should be it. Going higher than £15 though would be too much in my opinion.
I would try a month but having just got Assassins Creed Mirage, owning all the rest except Rogue and also having a good amount of the rest of their games, it just makes it seem not worth it.
Pretty sure the price is also high in comparison to game pass? I'd do a trial if one popped up.
@Lup is it worth dipping into this or any of the others if you've never played one before?
I have this habit of thinking I must play through game series in order...which only means I end up never playing the majority of great games I want to!
I've had to force myself out of that to start enjoying certain games from certain series, but I'm aware that some series are much better played in order or with some experience than others.

I have this habit of thinking I must play through game series in order...which only means I end up never playing the majority of great games I want to!
I've had to force myself out of that to start enjoying certain games from certain series, but I'm aware that some series are much better played in order or with some experience than others.
