Well, the dust is sort of settling on all of today's fresh Game Pass news, and while the list of new benefits afforded to Ultimate subscribers is no-doubt cool, we reckon XGP Premium might now be the best-value tier for Xbox console players.

Coming in at $14.99/£10.99 a month (compared to Ultimate at $29.99/£22.99 a month), Xbox Game Pass Premium now contains a 200+ strong game catalogue, access to online multiplayer on console and crucially, Xbox-published titles will now be added to the library within a year of launching - except for Call of Duty which Microsoft wants you to get Ultimate for.

Now that Microsoft has added some clarity for when its own games go to Premium — and has decided to bump Ultimate's price up so much — this is looking like a much more attractive option than it did when it was known as Xbox Game Pass Standard. If you don't care for all of the extra benefits / Call of Duty and can wait a few months for Xbox's other games to move over, why not save yourself $15 each month?

To make this an even tastier proposition right now, Microsoft has added around 50 new games to the Xbox Game Pass Premium library, following consistent additions to the service in recent months. Here are those new XGP Premium games:

  • 9 Kings (Game Preview) (PC)
  • Abiotic Factor (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S)
