Re: Talking Point: Do You Think This Generation Will Be A Short One?

JakobU

It's a difficult question. I don't think... that better graphics make better games. HD is ok for me.
Portability means something nowadays.
The more beefy hardware, the more expensive the games are to develop.
The Xbox Pass and cloud gaming could rupture this circle of potent hardware - though this wouldn't resolve much for the developers, just for the end user.

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza The Best Racing Franchise Of All Time?

A funny note;
When describing Padel Tennis compared to normal Tennis to people, the easy explanation is:

  • Padel is like Mario Kart. If you know how to use a racket/controller, you will have fun immediately!
  • Tennis is more like Foarza / Formula One. Requires a lot of work before you feel like you've accomplished something.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 2-3)

Cities Skylines. And enjoying the pictures posted of Starfield. No way I'm gonna invest in that game. Way-WaY-WAY to big and time consuming. Want to play games where I feel something's been accomplished within minutes (or perhaps hours on a Sunday). If I'm gonna explore space I'll listen to Richard Pogge's astronomy podcast series. 45mins, well entertained and also a bit more educated:)

...and that length of a game is why I'm not gonna buy it. I also have to care for friends, work, sleep, dog, food. Gaming is supposed to be a fun and relaxing endeavour. A game this size more seems like stress for me - When will it finish? When will it finish?
I'll be watching some of the videos published online to grasp the awesomeness of this piece of art. But I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna play it.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Xbox Live Memory?

JakobU

Played online once on the Xbox Live service. Got slaughtered immediately, and have since then switched to Nintendo online gaming. Can't remember the name of the game. It was a beautiful setting on an ice planet full of monsters and a good story. I had finished as singleplayer, and wanted to get some friends online. Never happened.

Re: Forza Motorsport's Multiplayer Looks Awesome, But Split-Screen Didn't Make The Cut

@JayJ I'm a seasoned man. 50 orbits around the Sun. Complex graphics and never ending gameplay doesn't necessarily make a good game for me. Right now I'm rediscovering NFS Most Wanted on my PS2. Look at the current version of Mario Kart from Nintendo. It's been out for almost a decade, still in top ten and still sells at day one proposed price!! The recipe for a successful game includes a bit of everything and normally ... not too much of something.
