Re: Three More Games Have Been 'Hard Delisted' And Removed Off The Xbox Store Entirely

GlasgowGuy

I bought Marvel Puzzle Quest when it came out on my XB1 and it still is on the hard drive, although it cannot be played. My Series X is now my home console & I cannot move it over to it. (There were reports that it is playable offline on your home console)

It no longer shows in my available to install section & when I copy it onto an external harddrive on my XB1 (and it shows up as being on both the external & internal drives) , the Series X doesn't recognise the game as being on the external drive, but the XB1 does

I'm really hacked off about this as I didn't buy the 360 version when the store was closing down as I had it on my XB1
Mystified how it cannot be copied over when it is definately on the external harddrive
I suspect that the game was delisted incorrectly and everybody's rights have been revoked erroneously instead of a normal delisting

Re: Hands On: Black Ops 7 Is Amazing On The ROG Xbox Ally X, As Long As You're Not Offline

GlasgowGuy

The above details exactly why I dislike PC games

Let me just turn on a game & play it and not have to faff about with settings: 17w mode, FSR 3, turbo mode, recommended graphics, recommended performance and all the time watching the FPS & resolution and stressing I am not optimising what I am playing & worrying about frame drops & can it be fixed by tweaking something deep in the menus or is it my PC

Consoles for me, choose performance or resolution and invert the Y axis & I am good to go

Re: Xbox Fan Lists 13 Games That Are Currently Hidden From Players' Libraries

GlasgowGuy

iDarb is #iDarb
Still showing for me in my Games with Gold tab - although I have it installed & even bought some DLC for it
I have now added a group in my games for some of these delisted games so they should be easier to find in the future- I have 5 from the list although not all installed so will have to see if I can get them back
Project Downfall was pulled & then released as Neckbreak with seperate achievements

Re: Opinion: Far Cry Should Double Down On What Made It Great, Not Become Another Live Service

GlasgowGuy

I'm not a massive multiplayer fan but Far Cry 3 multiplayer has to be one of the best experiences I've had and was gutted when later games went from 4 player to 2 player co-op
The completely different missions & the competitive sections were so refreshing - loved the section where 3 of us were on a raft going down river as part of the mission & it then changed to an in game competition to see who could shoot the most of the attackers around us
The characters were a bit special with the sweariest being the Glasgow ned football supporter
Just a fun co-op game & still pretty unique in my opinion & disappointed the remastered version dropped the co-op side of things

Re: Talking Point: If You've Played It, What Do You Think Of The Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Playtest?

GlasgowGuy

You can change the controls to the normal Right Trigger setup, but I think I had to do it at the main menu once you had completed a race (3 control options in total)
Was a bit of a game changer for me as after playing Speedstorm pretty much daily for the last 2 years I was not getting on with the game's controls at all, and to be honest the car handling is a bit stiff for my liking and they do not slide as much as I am used to with Speedstorm
I do prefer the Grand Prix setup rather than the live service of Speedstorm

Re: Final Fantasy Boss Says 'There's No Real Need' For Next-Gen Consoles Like A Series X Successor

GlasgowGuy

My take is that Backwards Compatibility has caused the problem of indistinct console generations
I love having B/C games on my XBoxes & Playstations and have hundreds of them downloaded on my consoles, even last week I got excited when the PS 1 versions of RE2 & RE3 appeared on PSN
However, it used to be you would draw a line under one generation & move on to the next
This just doesn't happen now and drags out previous generations so you have the current situation where using a PS4 is almost as good as having a PS5 and I would imagine the same will happen with the PS5 when the PS6 comes out (and running a PS4 is still potentially still a valid option when the PS6 comes out)

Re: Random: Xbox Fan Installs 1000 Games To See How Much Storage Space They Take Up

GlasgowGuy

Got just over 4000 installed - thank goodness MS allowed drives over 16Tb to be used - got 2 x 16TB + 1 x 18Tb

I tend to keep all my games on the external drives & copy Series X games over to the internal or expansion drives as I play them, that way I can delete them immediately off the internal/expansion drive with out having to copy back to the external drive

For info, even though the games are installed the licenses can be revoked & the installed game will not work, this happened to me with FIFA15 for some reason

I know this is an stupid amount to have and even playing 1 different game a day for a decade would only be 3652, so I have way more games than I could realistically play in a lifetime, before even thinking about my Playstation & Switch games.....

Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See A New Type Of Forza Game In 2026?

GlasgowGuy

I wouldn't mind a Forza "World" that allows you to revisit the locations from previous Horizon games
It's the rights to the cars & music from the old games stopping them being sold - why not just let you select from the old locations (+ current one) and let you race on them with the current set of licensed cars
I'm sure it wouldn't take much to spruce the locations up as most still look pretty good even today, although FM#1 might need more work done

Re: Xbox Quietly Releases New 4TB Expansion Card For Series X|S

GlasgowGuy

Its really frustrating when games that do not need to be on the fast SSD memory are mandated to be installed there by Smart delivery
Much better to give you the option to install on an external hard drive and give them Gen9 Aware status rather than being Gen9 games and forced to the SSD drive
There are understandably games that require the faster drives, but surely games like Pinkman & Epyx Games Collection do not need to be on the SSD memory
Is there some mandate that stops games being certified as Gen9 Aware rather than Gen9?

Re: Xbox Reporter 'Pretty Sure' New Console Is Set To Launch In 2027

GlasgowGuy

My take, for what is worth, is that they go down the Surface route and manufacture a high end & expensive console (£1000+)

MS will not be competing with Sony or Nintendo in hardware sales but will be by then mostly a software company as "everything is an XBox"; however I would expect them to want to have a console to show off their games as best as possible

From a games preservation point of view I really hope it is not some Cloud based hybrid machine
I would be OK with it being some sort of PC in console form, as long as it is still recognisably a console

Re: Xbox Is Adding Support For Even Bigger Storage Devices In 2025

GlasgowGuy

@themightyant might just have been me, but the 8Tb I was swapping over seemed to be showing the hard drive icon at the top right of the screen every time I powered it up for a few days. It was easier to keep my PS4 as a VR console & PS4 Pro as my main one
Even then there were times I have had 800gigs free & it would say I didn't have enough space for some relatively small updates. It is easier to delete the game & then do a fresh install.
Frustrating doesn't cover it !! You can't even uninstall DLC from a title - somehow one of the Lego games had DLC showing as installed from another Lego game I didn't own & no easy way to uninstall it - resorted to going with a fresh install
The way the PS external hard drive system works is a mystery to me - even installing to the external drive, I have had messages saying I need to clear space on the internal drive
I have a suspicion that if there is less than, say, 10%of the external drive free it won't let you install & if it is an 8Tb drive thats just under 800gigs- again just a hunch
But as this is an Xbox site I shouldn't be venting here !!

Re: Xbox Is Adding Support For Even Bigger Storage Devices In 2025

GlasgowGuy

Current max capacity is 3 x 16Tb drives attached + 2TB expansion card
I did try an 18Tb drive a year or so ago, but it would not format as it was bigger than the16Tb individual max, so the comments about having to reformat if using a drive larger than 16Tb seems a bit strange to me

The PS4&5 external storage is only 1 x 8Tb Drive and a nightmare to swap over as the index gets completely messed up when using a drive that has a different set of games on it & re-indexing takes days as it seems to require the console to be powered up on the dashboard. I maxed out my 8Tb back when it was only PS4 games I had to worry about

Re: Five Guesses For The 'Legendary' Surprise At Xbox Developer Direct This Week

GlasgowGuy

I thought there had been some separate rumours in the last week or so about a new Ecco game - would think that fits the bill with the XBox rumours
To me the wording of the mystery game suggested it was an older game & had been quiet on the release front in recent years - some of the suggestion in the article are too recent & have had recent releases

Re: Indie Dev Questions Whether Xbox One Is Worth Developing For In 2025

GlasgowGuy

I don't understand why there aren't more Gen9aware games, especially XB1 games - it gives the best of both worlds & utilises the Series X/S enhancements but does not need to be installed on the internal velocity drive
Why a basic game like Pinkman needs to be installed on the internal drive baffles me; the recent Assassins Creed Syndicate was a Gen9aware update & runs fine off an external drive

Re: Xbox User Insists Some Owned Games Are Being Hidden From Players' Libraries

GlasgowGuy

I have noticed games with the same name disappearing and only 1 version showing in my library eg Prey (360 & XB1) and Doom 3 (360 disc & XB1); they usually reappear after powering down the console
The only one I am aware I have lost is FIFA 15 (XB1) after it was delisted it disappeared from my library & even though it was installed on my console it would not start as I no longer had the rights to it - according to MS support, everybodys rights had been revoked (!!)
Usually if you go to the installed game tab & look at the metadata info, it will usually show an acquisition date for it, if you bought it. If its a disc install I don't think there is a date shown.
In my case with FIFA15 the acquisition date was missing.
I suspect that in the early days of XB1 there was a learning curve in how the digital rights to games were established and recorded on your account.
I suspect that if FIFA15 had an acquisition date or support could access & amend that data, then my rights would be re-instated

Re: Xbox Cloud Gaming Will Reportedly Let You Stream Your Own Games Very Soon

GlasgowGuy

From a personal point of view I am keen to see if my digital rights for FIFA 15 will work
I bought the game digitally & have the MS receipt email but after working for a few years, it no longer starts on any of my XBoxes as it says I don't have the rights to it & according to MS support when questioned, everybodys rights to the game have been revoked !!

Re: Three More Xbox 360 Games Get Discounts Ahead Of Next Week's Store Closure

GlasgowGuy

@Beetlebum91
Most game updates are <5mb and saved to the cache
However only about 5-6 updates can be saved there, with the oldest being over-written
Where updates are >5mb, they are typically saved to the hard drive as a "DLC" to the game file
For much larger updates, they are sometimes listed as mandatory update DLC in the Marketplace, or even disguised as free DLC with extra characters/levels/etc to encourage players to get the DLC
It is the latter larger files that are of concern as the DLC will be delisted next week
The small 5mb files are the ones that concern me more as there are only a few stored in the cache and are typically used to allow DLC to be identified by the game, so in theory if they are no longer downloaded, DLC will stop working

Re: Rumour: Xbox Planning To Bring More Games To PS5, Despite Some 'Unease' At Microsoft

GlasgowGuy

I can see Microsoft selling off the XBox division
That way MS become software focused & can still sell Game Pass to XBox users. Sony & Nintendo may allow GP on their consoles as MS would no longer be a hardware competitor
MS could possibly get away with having to have games day 1 on XBox and then sell copies for 6 months, say, before adding to the service - that would avoid the would CoD issue of losing sales from day 1 on XBox
Also, how long until Phil is on "gardening leave" ??
I would have him down as heading up investors if XBox were to be sold off

Re: Burnout-Like Racer 'TRAIL OUT' Crash Lands On Xbox, To Mixed Reviews So Far

GlasgowGuy

There is something weird with this on XBox - the games is a 17.8gb download but it also adds another 17.6gb in Reserved Space to take up around 35gb in total
For reference most games use very little reserved space, the worst that I had noticed were GTA V & RDR 2 with 16gb each
From what I played it is not worth the download - a very poor Flatout clone and I would say the OG XBox games played better....

Re: Talking Point: How Many Microsoft Rewards Points Do You Have Right Now?

GlasgowGuy

Currently only have 6823, but my lifetime total is 1,362,342

Spent that on £5 & £10 gift cards over the years - I did go through a phase of buying games from the Brazil marketplace which seemed to give you silly amounts when calculating the points due. Thats stopped now as you can only get points from one region a day and it's easier to do the daily stuff on a pc
