Roundup: The Results From Our Xbox Games Showcase 2026 Predictions

As always, the staff here at Pure Xbox HQ published our prediction list for the Xbox Games Showcase a couple of weeks ago, and as always, we didn't get them 100% right. We're not psychics or mind-readers after all!

Nevertheless, we thought we'd take a quick look at the ones that came true - 3/8 of them in the end. This also provides a chance for us to ask about your predictions and how they fared, so please tell us in the comments down below.

Here are the results from our Xbox Games Showcase predictions:

What We Got Right

1. "Gears Of War: E-Day Will Open The Show, Release Date To Be Announced"

Yep, this was spot on! Gears of War: E-Day did indeed open the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 this year, and we got a release date of October 6th, 2026 in the process.

What we didn't anticipate is that the game would be announced as an Xbox console exclusive, which obviously has been dominating the headlines over the past few days. Still, we're counting this as a successful prediction!

2. "Halo: Campaign Evolved Will Also Appear, With A Summer 2026 Release"

The rumours had been flying around prior to the Xbox Showcase that Halo: Campaign Evolved was getting a July release date, so it was no surprise when it was announced that July 28th, 2026 is that date.

We didn't mention it in the predictions at the time, but we also assumed that Halo would be getting an early access period through the Premium Edition, which has also since come true. Again, this wasn't really a big surprise though.

3. "New Limited Edition Xbox Hardware Will Be Shown Off"

To be honest, this was more of a hit-and-hope prediction from us! To get a limited edition controller is one thing, but we were absolutely stoked to see that a new Xbox Series X25 limited edition console is also coming out this year.

Asha Sharma even went one step further and promised a free console to everyone in attendance at Xbox FanFest LA, which certainly wasn't something anyone would have predicted (and we're insanely jealous of those people!).

What We Got Wrong

Sorry to say, we got five of our predictions wrong this year. We thought some of these were pretty safe bets, such as new backwards compatibility titles and the reveal of the Elite Series 3 controller, but perhaps those are being saved for later this year instead.

  1. "Xbox Finally Unveils The Elite Series 3 Controller"
  2. "New Backwards Compatible Games, Possibly Shadow Dropped"
  3. "Asha Sharma Brings Back An OG Xbox IP For Long-Time Fans"
  4. "Banjo-Kazooie Finally Returns To The Xbox Stage"
  5. "A Major New Xbox Initiative Will Be Announced"

It's pretty telling that even despite missing out on these announcements, we still thought the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 was an all-timer. It feels like it's one of the most highly-praised events in Xbox history, and if some of these predictions do come true later in 2026, they're only going to add to what's already proving a busy year for Xbox.
