Even though Asha Sharma has been very active in making improvements for Xbox fans over the past few weeks, we still haven't seen her speak publicly on camera as Xbox boss — or at least, not until a GDC vlog went live over the weekend.
A YouTuber known as Mr. Wright Way was in attendance at GDC 2026 back in March, and while speaking to Phil Spencer about his retirement from Xbox, he happened to bump into new Xbox boss and Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma at the same time, prompting her first on-camera appearance for Xbox (at least that we know about!).
The exchange is a sweet one, with the vlogger wishing Sharma all the best in her role, and also questioning Spencer about his retirement plans. Sharma enthuses about how she's excited to attend her first GDC, while also joking that Spencer will spend his retirement snowboarding - which he concurs with!
Of course, even though this is our first on-camera sighting of Asha Sharma as part of Team Xbox, she has been involved with various interviews in recent weeks, and there may well be other recordings out there that have yet to surface.
This is obviously just a little random meetup at GDC, but we assume Sharma will take centre stage at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 in June, which is likely where we'll get our first formal appearance from the new Xbox boss.
As for Spencer, he's still sticking around until the summer to help Sharma get acquainted with her surroundings, so perhaps he'll have a parting message to share with us in June as well. We wish him all the best in retirement!
