Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC

DennisReynolds

@fatpunkslim "Maybe Schreier heard some internal rumors, but shareholders would never approve a decision like that, because it would mean less budget for the entire PlayStation division — and inevitably lower‑quality games for players"

You're an expert on shareholders then and know more then the biggest most reliable journalist in gaming who has the best sources for his info? Dude you're coping hard here just stop. As i said if Jason says its true then true unless Sony say otherwise. He doesn't report things unless he's 100% certain.

Also you're really not going to like when the next Xbox doesn't support Steam and is very different to what Sarah Bond wanted. I think the PCXbox is looking less likely with this new leadership. Of course i could be wrong i'm not an expert 😉

Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC

DennisReynolds

@Coletrain and people will prefer buying a $600 PS6 over a $800+ PCXbox. MS haven't found the secret sauce the PCXbox is a last hail merry and giving the heavy rumours the PCXbox was Sarah Bond's thing there's a good chance MS might change course with it. Either way the PS6 will still do far better.

Ghost of Yotei? Helldivers 2? Returnal? Horizon FW? God of War Ragnarok?

Re: Opinion: Xbox Should Consider Cancelling Halo: Campaign Evolved For PS5

DennisReynolds

Well here's the thing you care more about Xbox then MS does.

Fact is Asha has said nothing. Oh sure she's put a ton of PR statements but its all been purposely written so it will appeal to everyone while not actually saying anything. Its been pretty much implied 3rd party was MS doing not Phil and well he's gone and MS has installed someone who does what they want without question. Wouldn't be shocked if the PCXbox is cancelled as well as that was Bond's child.

Re: Talking Point: You're The New Head Of Xbox, What Do You Do Now?

DennisReynolds

Had complete control with no Daddy MS behind me? Go full 3rd party, close down the console side and release an app that can be played anywhere called MS Gamepass that can be streamed or if the device supports it download the games to play natively. I mean at least two 3rds of what i said will happen anyway so might as well go all in now.

Re: 'Return To Our Roots' - Xbox CEO Reiterates Her Goals For The Future

DennisReynolds

She's saying all the right things but that's the point of PR of course she's going to be saying the right things. Actions speak louder though and we all know she's just a yes woman to the real boss of MS gaming. I hope she proves doubters wrong though including myself but giving her background in AI and how much involved MS has become in its gaming side i don't have much hope.

Re: Seven Amazing Things Phil Spencer Did During His Reign As Head Of Xbox

DennisReynolds

Did the Series consoles launch out of the gate strong? It had no 1st party games and had to rely on Assassin's Creed to provide them something. Right out of the gate it had nothing of its own.

Will say Phil's commitment to BC is unmatched though. The fact most of the BC games look and play better is pretty incredible when he could have just brought them over unchanged and in a bare bones state. I also believe if Series wasn't so big on playing X1 games and such that Sony may not have supported PS4 games on the PS5, i do think Phil forced them to include it by having Series put a focus on it. I rarely play new games on my SS but BC games are always being played on it.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Martsmall I never said they did. They own the film rights and that gives them a ton of leverage. As i said while we don't know what the deal exactly is it is heavily rumoured that the Spider-Man game licence might have been a result of letting Marvel put Spidey in the MCU. As for the game yes Sony own the IP of Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel can stop sales but they can't control where it goes. Its why Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions will most likely never see a re-release and its because Activision own that kinda off, they can't do jack with it but Marvel couldn't just decide to port it to new consoles. Its the joys of IP nightmares and how complicated they are. Basically the Sony Marvel games will only appear on Switch/Xbox if Sony want them too, Disney/Marvel can't force it.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@BacklogBrad IP laws are tricky. Marvel's Spider-Man/Wolverine are an original take created, funded and owned by Sony. At most Disney/Marvel can stop sales but they don't actually control where it goes. Again why do you think Marvel Ultimate Allience, Hulk Ultimate Destruction and such have never a release once Activision lost the rights. Anyway your argument falls apart in thinking Disney cares about going against Sony expecially when its heavily rumoured Sony got the game license in an exchange for letting Marvel use Spider-Man in film. Giving the massive sales of SM on PS i don't think Sony or Disney/Marvel care about supporting Old Yeller.

Oh yeah the PCXbox supporting Steam and such was Phil and Bond's dream. There's a good chance providing it was ever going to happen anyway (press X to doubt) that MS will not move forward in wanting to lose more money in giving Steam/Epic all the money instead of Windows

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@BacklogBrad Wait till you find out Disney went to MS first for a Marvel deal.

Fun fact Sony own the Marvel's Spider-Man IP. Disney can take the Spider-Man IP elsewhere but not the one funded, created and owned by Sony. Also i expect Sony made sure as part of the deal they can't be forced into anything. Why do you think the Activision Marvel games haven't seen a re-release under Disney/Marvel? They don't actually own them that's why.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@BacklogBrad Why would Disney force them? Also i expect Sony has a deal in place to protect them from that. The next Xbox if you can call a more limited PC a real Xbox might play GoW but it might face issues running it if Sony don't verify it "Xbox compatible". By the time Wolverine comes out on PC the PCXbox might have had the plug pulled by then who knows.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Gabrie What's coming exactly that only Xbox players can see? The PS5 and Switch 2 are printing money. The reason MS is pivoting to a PCXbox is because its a last hail mary. Its not MS seeing the future its MS hoping this one last chance might work. Giving the Ram situation right now if anything MS is more doomed then ever as they need it more then Sony and Nintendo do.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@BacklogBrad Yet Sony and Nintendo are still growing strong and Xbox is near being put down. Do you think God of War and Mario will be on Xbox? That's the difference here. Sony is happy for PC releases and putting live services elsewhere but i doubt Wolverine will leave PS/PC.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Fiendish-Beaver Daddy MS got involved because Phil's choices led them to it. If Phil had led to Xbox to great success things would be very different. Gamepass and 69B on Activision got daddy MS taking notice and that's on Phil. He sank Xbox harder then Mattrick because Xbox is all but dead under him. If not for an AI bro taking over i would be celebrating.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@BacklogBrad There's a reason Mario and God of War aren't appearing on other consoles. The reason Halo is coming to PS5 is because Xbox isn't making enough money, Gamepass is eating game sales and Phil thought spending 69B on Activision was a good idea. If Xbox Series was a success MS would not be porting anything. They're porting over because they have no choice. Like seriously were you not around for Dreamcast and the fall of Sega? Xbox is near death and that's under Phil and his former master Mattrick. Xbox is now going to be run by an AI bro that's a depressing future.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Fiendish-Beaver The fact Halo is coming to PS5 says it all. The fact the Series gen is the worst gen ever for MS. The amount of studios that have been closed under Phil. The billion and billions spent on Activision. The fact Xbox is on the verge of not existing anymore.

People forget Phil was a Mattrick follower.

Re: Phil Spencer Announces That He's Retiring From Xbox

DennisReynolds

As i said on PQ i bet Sony are happy right now.

I would say good riddance but things will only get worse for Xbox because of this. The end is nigh. An AI bro taking over only spells bad things for Xbox. Anyone with sense should avoid the Next Xbox giving the dark future currently being painted for it.

Re: Insomniac Shares Cold-Hearted Response To The Chances Of Spider-Man 2 Coming To Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Daffy-Duck Its called an educated guess. Yeah handhelds have this but remember the "xbox" handheld is just a standard Asus handheld with Xbox branding, its also a terrible way to use Steam as its very much a Windows machine, overall MS don't care all that much on what people do with it after they bought it. With a console though its different as they can't have its entire playerbase buying off Steam as that would mean MS is making nothing off them. I think Steam on Xbox is a foolish pipe dream like how Phil dreamed of buying Nintendo this gen.

Re: Insomniac Shares Cold-Hearted Response To The Chances Of Spider-Man 2 Coming To Xbox

DennisReynolds

@Daffy-Duck So let's say the entire Xbox playerbase decides to just buy off Steam how exactly does MS make money? Oh they cut a deal with Valve? The same Valve known for not wanting to play nice with others? Why would Valve cut a deal where they have to give MS a bit of the % when Valve will have a competing "console"? Either MS or Valve is going to suffer with this next Xbox so i would be shocked if Steam will be on it, Valve DOES NOT NEED MS. Could be wrong of course but Valve are not ones for taking cuts and MS need to make money somehow. Also even if Steam does run on it the console will cost a small fortune as it will have to fully use PC parts rather then what they typically do for consoles. There'a a reason there's no PC that can equal a PS5 Pro for 700.

Re: Silent Hill: Townfall Not Coming To Xbox At Launch, Along With A Few Other State Of Play Titles

DennisReynolds

@StylesT Timed deals and money hatting exclusives is actually MS's MO. Guess you skipped the 360 era. MS famously thought they could buy Nintendo, hell they thought they bought Donkey Kong when they bought Rare 😂. Remember in the X1 era with Tomb Raider and Dead Rising?

Sony and MS are as bad as each for doing timed deals and even Nintendo are getting big on it as well. Welcome to capitalism MS, Sony and Nintendo are not are friends and will do what makes them the most money. Nintendo literally money hatted a GOTY level game last year do you take issue with that?

Re: Silent Hill: Townfall Not Coming To Xbox At Launch, Along With A Few Other State Of Play Titles

DennisReynolds

@StylesT No i admitted i was wrong but also said it doesn't matter. 76 isn't 120 but 76 is still a massive number.

Clearly when MS do timed deals its fine but when its Sony doing them its bad. You talk about bias but well pot kettle black. Funny thing is i haven't once criticized MS over this all i've done is point out the hypocrisy on here. Let's face it if MS announced they have a one year timed deal on GTA VI you would be defending and celebrating it.

Re: Silent Hill: Townfall Not Coming To Xbox At Launch, Along With A Few Other State Of Play Titles

DennisReynolds

@Questionable_Duck I didn't get upset i pointed out hypocrisy. I could have played Stalker 2 anytime i wanted in that year as i own a SS, i decided to wait as it launched in a rough state and i wanted to play it on more capable hardware. I don't care about timed deals i just it annoying when people moan about Sony/Nintendo doing them while ignoring the fact MS also do them. 76 might be less then Sony but 76 is still a high number, if it was like 15 or something you might have a point but 76 isn't that far off from Sony.

Re: Silent Hill: Townfall Not Coming To Xbox At Launch, Along With A Few Other State Of Play Titles

DennisReynolds

@Questionable_Duck Timed deals are timed deals and Sony like MS give support to nearly every deal they make.

A good portion of Indies and AA games that release Day 1 on Gamepass don't hit PS until much later. Still even IF Sony do more it doesn't change MS also do it along with Nintendo, going to moan Hades II isn't on Xbox? Or like MS do Nintendo get a free pass? They all do timed deals but it seems Xbox players are the only ones who get upset when its anyone but MS doing them. Maybe blame MS for not caring one bit abouts its players or Xbox.
