It would honestly be smarter business decision to abandon the ecosystem in general. They would be smarter to just make and publish games at this point. They eliminated the need to be in the ecosystem. They will sell less than 15 million 1st party consoles next gen.

Eliminates the need for xbox to exist as a platform.

No need to announce what we already know. I am sure South of Midnight will jump to PS5 someday too.

@Lup I agree, I typically buy them when they are pushing $15 or less. I like to jump in play 3-5 hours and never touch again.

If they have multiple store fronts on their next first party console. They will lose out on millions of dollars. It also devalues the need for Xbox play anywhere. You could just buy everything on steam and bypass the Xbox store.

The sad truth is, Xbox will lose most 3rd party support soon.

There is a change I pick one up, id honestly rather have a PS portal type device.

I sadly think the next announcement will be Xbox sidelines or cancels the next gen 1st party hardware.

@Neither_scene Bald guy at Microsoft is a huge fan of killing things for short term gains. He admitted he is mad about killing Windows phone as it eliminated the platform. Yet he is doing it again with Xbox.

Too many games at once will result in higher bounce rate. Common sense.

What is the point this when you are going to eliminate any point of your store by having steam on literally all devices.

I bought my first PlayStation in over 30 years just for FF7 remake and rebirth. Exclusives matter. (I've only owned PS1 in the past)

I will probably rebuy it because I'm an animal.

Might be a good game for playing on my phone with a backbone controller.

@donv2135 your mind is thinking too small. Without exclusives the entire ecosystem dies. Gamepass has very little growth. It will continue to have little growth with annual price increases too.

Microsoft wants out of the hardware market, this is going to help them do it. They are only releasing next gen hardware only in false good faith. When next gen sales only 10 to 15 million they will fully bow out of the hardware market. (They will continue to make controllers)

@donv2135 Next GEN Xbox will sell at Wii U numbers or worse. Then the support will end especially from 3rd party devs. After that your library will start to suffer.

I am calling it now. Next gen Xbox console will sell less than 15 million devices. Xbox will release everything day and date on PS5 by 2028. Xbox will no longer create games for Xbox consoles by 2035.

@MjJmediablogger They barely sold 30 million units this time around. Next will be half that, resulting in the death of 3rd party support.

@BacklogBrad Sony will never put a Sony studio developed game on Xbox. You might get lucky and see Sony published titles like Helldivers.

First question I would ask if I was one of these companies is. How do you plan to stay relevant and how do you plan to increase user base, playtime, and monetary spending in the Xbox ecosystem?
