We've got a new version of the ROG Xbox Ally X on the way!

ASUS has officially unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally X20 handheld, which is very similar in design to the ROG Xbox Ally X, but this time features a few upgrades including a bigger 7.4 inch display and a much-requested OLED panel.

"Step into a wider world of play. By slimming the top bezel, we’ve maximized the FHD display to a more expansive 7.4 inches, keeping you fully locked into the action while maintaining a sleek, portable form factor. Brand new for the ROG XBOX Ally X20, this Nebula HDR Display features an OLED panel with breathtaking visual depth and a peak brightness of 1400 nits, while the ultra-fast 120Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium Pro support ensures every movement is effortlessly smooth."

It also includes TMR joysticks, designed to "resist stick drift and power consumption", along with a "new transforming d-pad" with "instant switching between 4-way and 8-way input". ASUS has redesigned the face buttons for "effortless sliding" as well, while also integrating rubberised grips for extra comfort.

The device was announced as part of Computex 2026 in the form of a bundle with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses. It has yet to be revealed whether it'll be made available standalone, but we assume it will.

At the time of writing, we don't yet have a release date or price for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, but we assume it's going to be expensive — the Xbox Ally X already retails for £799.99 / $999.99, so we're surely breaking the 1K mark with this one.

In fact, ASUS admitted that squeezing an OLED panel into the Xbox Ally X wasn't possible last year for multiple reasons including cost, as well as the difficulties of integrating it alongside the Ally's use of VRR. Since then, they've clearly managed to find a way to make it happen!

"OLED panels are more sensitive to heat than traditional LCD displays, so the thermal solution on the ROG XBOX Ally X20 has been redesigned to channel more airflow directly to the APU and help keep surface temperatures on the display as low as possible."

We'll obviously keep an eye on this and let you know when a release date and price are revealed for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, but for now, you can check out a couple of images from today's Computex 2026 ROG Press Event down below.
