I'm squinting to find why this keeps being referred to as "Silent Hill-like" 🤔 The gameplay and setting are very much their own thing. Definitely one I'll play down the line but sadly at launch $60 is a bit steep. Too many games lately!
This was a fun romp that I played alongside Dead Rising 3 when I finally got an Xbone. The dialogue and NPC designs can be downright annoying, but the gameplay mechanics more than make up for it. One of the few times world traversal is a lot of fun without any type of vehicle or superpower (even though it can be argued the looney toons physics are a form of superpower 🤔).
Went ahead and threw in my cap to the Yes pile, despite buying it on Steam. Loving it so far, I get to re-experience one of my all-time favorite games and the QOL is very nice 😁🧟♂️ Also without saying too much, Infinity Mode also made some great adjustments to make each run interesting!
It's definitely misleading that they don't list these specs separately, I had to go back to ol Google to reference the Series S performance when I found out my PC is a little below-spec to reliably play the Steam version. I was also upset that Xbox/PS5 list Space Marine 2 at 70 while it's 60 on Steam, but that's its own can of worms 😑
@Markatron84 Oi! SA2 isn't TERRIBLE, at least the majority of the Sonic and Shadow levels are okay. Plus the Chao garden is an improvement! But yeah, rest of the game is rough for sure...😏
Thanks for the review! Saved me from picking up a hard copy knowing the game requires Internet for solo/bot matches. So sick of this practice, now the ability to play the game is tied to the player count 😞
I'll make some final decisions on Sunday, but as a whole I think I have what I wanted for the most part. My current objective is downloading all of the E3 montage trailers between 2007-2011 or however many are on there.
I'm glad they're at least acknowledging the blades with this background. It was a pipe dream to expect it to have any classic functionality 😮💨 The current console gen really lost their way with good UI.
I used to just renew Game Pass the few times a year they'd offer 3 months for $1. Now that they don't do that anymore for existing users, I only renew GP for a month to try out a new game or two that gets added that I may not want to buy immediately. As it stands, I'll renew for a month in November for MS Flight Sim 2024.
The first game is legendary, warts and all. While I enjoy the other entries (yes, even 4 to a certain degree), they never beat out Frank West at Willamette Parkview Mall. I'm very pumped for the Deluxe Remaster and hopefully this leads to a proper return for the series!
This is awesome! Though I will admit it was fun dating the year of the old Vegas visuals based off of a Britney Spears tour advert on one of the buildings (my wife was the reference point for that info 😆).
Dead Rising! Right around the time I got a copy of "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks, I watched a friend play Dead Rising on their new Xbox 360. The idea of a zombie game where you're trapped in a mall using everything that isn't nailed down as a weapon was exciting. Still a favorite of mine to this day!
Xbox does what Nintendoesnt! Jokes aside, this is really cool of them to do. I've already snagged a few bargains from the current sale, so I'm excited to see what the upcoming sales will entail!
I've stuck with this game since the early flighting stages, and boy has it had its highs and lows. At this rate it almost feels more divisive than Halo 4 or Reach, but I still enjoy my time with it. If only it had launched in the state it's in now, and perhaps delivered on some early promises like assassinations in multiplayer or split screen campaign, it could have been more unanimously praised. 343i has had a lot stacked against them, but I'm glad they didn't get shut down or give up.
If your game consists of only ideas taken from other games, can you really claim to be the inspiration for other copycat titles? Note: I have a copy of Palworld on Steam and find it decently enjoyable.
The controller was great (still one of my all time favorites), the exclusives were awesome (Dead Rising sold me on the console), the various themes/backgrounds you could use on the menus, the music player during games if you wanted your own soundtrack, and having friends to jump online with.
It's not, I swear they just recently announced that it's a ways off (maybe as a reaction to TGA speculations?). There's no way they would be releasing a huge DLC in February and saying it's a ways off, nor would that info be absent from TGA. To clarify, I would love for this to be true so we can play it asap, but I'm also fine with waiting so it ends up worth the wait.
Several years ago I picked up a pre-owned copy of Gears 4 and to my immediate surprise, the inserts were still in the box for a digital copy of all previous games, and the codes were unused. So a collection wouldn't do me a ton of good, but would be cool to see regardless.
@GamingFan4Lyf That actually is pretty cool, I had no idea! I doubt it would be implemented in a similar fashion with OD, but I hope I'm wrong. Guess we can do nothing but speculate for now 🤷♂️
If their justification of empty space is realism, I start to side with Gabe Newell: "...I have never thought to myself that realism is fun. I go play games to have fun." I actually do like certain aspects of Starfield, but as a whole I found it a tad underwhelming.
Dead Rising 3 was the sole reason I ended up getting an Xbone later down the line (and before I had a gaming PC). Despite its MANY flaws (though not as many as DR4), there's still fun to be had, and the boss music still slaps.
gazes deeply into crystal ball This will have a low install base on release, and despite gathering a cult following, it won't be enough to cover the server costs, and shortly after they struggle to deliver the amount of content they have already announced, just like Babylon's Fall, the game will become dust in the wind.
The Xbox 360 era is second to none in my book. I'm nostalgic for the original "blades" theme, and releases like Dead Rising and Halo 3 getting tons of promotional download trailers, demos, and G4 TV spots was a lot of fun. The red rings were horrible, sure, but the fond memories outweigh that inconvenience.
I remember when I took my first 360 (still pretty new for me at the time) on vacation to Colorado, excited to play Dead Rising in the down time. The first night I plugged it in, it red ringed after about 15 minutes and I was crushed 🤣
@ParsnipHero You said it! It's great to see Infinite on the upswing. PvE making a return is huge! I'm also very excited for Mtn Dew Game Fuel's return, I'm very nostalgic for that Halo 3 flavor 😆
The big wigs that are publicly against Game Pass so far are also people that happen to be mocked/strongly disliked by the gaming community as a whole. Perhaps it's not a coincidence?
I still play Flight Simulator pretty regularly, especially weekend mornings when I can sip hot coffee and relax to the hum of a plane. Updates like these are awesome and a good reminder that I need to branch out with my flight paths outside of areas I'm familiar with 😅
@DropaBombOnEm This exactly. People seem to overlook this fact constantly when defending "always online". It's not a matter of having a constant internet connection (obviously in the modern era that's no problem), its these games having a very finite lifespan that they can be accessed/played.
When I got the Xbox One past it's "prime" I enjoyed the hell out of Dead Rising 3 and Sunset Overdrive on it. I still used Game Pass occasionally on that VHS player-sized brick until I upgraded to a Series S for Halo Infinite 😆
@BBB Good to know, and I appreciate the reply! I'm also glad that I wasn't the only one experiencing this 😆 It was definitely unexpected because Trackmania Turbo rarely had this issue, so I think they could work on better signs/arrows on the track itself so we don't have to resort to trial and error constantly.
When I played the beta for Trackmania I kept having constant issues with track legibility, as it wasn't always easy to tell which direction I was meant to turn on more complicated courses. It's not something I have encountered on previous Trackmania titles, so here's hoping that got addressed.
