@FatGuyInLilCoat There's a bunch of games coming over the next year+. State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Gears E Day, Grounded 2 Full Release, FH6, OD, Blade, Project Mara, some unnamed Toys for Bob game. That's not including the couple still slated for 2025.
I'm sure Obsidian will put out maybe 3 more games before lunch tomorrow, they're good at that.
Herdling was pretty great. Didn't like Rogue PoP at all. I should have known better starting another action roguelite. As soon as I die and my progress resets, the odds that I'm gonna go back are close to nil.
Only Gears I've played is 5 so I might try that out at some point, maybe after E Day and play the series in chronological order.
@ButterySmooth30FPS it wasn't hearsay, it was a public statement by MS. They weren't asked if there was a deal. They were asked if the game was coming to xbox and their response was that they couldn't comment on deals between other parties.
@Lup the thing that bums me out is that it's a huge success, and now all jrpg will copy the combat, which I didn't care for to say the least. DQXI had traditional turn based combat and it was an amazing game, but no one seemed to care, and now, because this is how the industry works, everyone is going to copy Clair Obscur.
I liked the game overall, but I had some real issues with a few story choices, and I really hated the way they made one ending obviously the "bad" choice.
I like GOG, but GOG Galaxy is a universal POS. It's hot garbage and they've never seemed to make any improvements to its performance over the several years I've been using it. I do have a lot of games there and with Epic though, so hopefully when they announce an actual console or pc hybrid or whatever they're doing with actual hardware that isn't a handheld, I can unify those libraries, and never have to use those other launchers again.
@awp69 Herdling was a beautiful little game. I got 100% in about 3 hours and had a great time naming and decorating my Calicorns. I really loved the ending.
Having played and enjoyed the other DA games, I've been waiting for Veilguard to join ea play, so that's been on my list, but games like Herdling are why I love game pass.
I skipped the reviews, as I usually do for GP games I know I'm going to try, and I played the first 3 chapters in one sitting. It's fantastic. Great pace early on getting you into the story and learning the controls, as well as how quickly you unlock the skills
Play with headphones, the sound design is so good. The setting is so alive with music and wildlife, I found myself watching the critters or the landscape a lot. I watched a snapping turtle take 4 minutes just walking into the water lol
It's a lot more adult themed than the art style would let on too. There's some messed up stuff going on in this swamp. It feels a bit like playing a Tim Burton movie
I dunno, I think they've made some massive improvements in the last several months. It's easier and less time consuming now than it was a couple years ago because it's much more passive. No more half hour quests playing PvZGW for the 19th time, no more daily achievements, no more dealing with that horrid Rewards app on xbox. Just play any game and earn streaks.
It also used to be a chore just to find out what the hell was available. I was watching Rewards Hunter youtube channel weekly and following the subreddit just to stay up to date. Now everything that is available is streamlined to the site or the app.
The searching has definitely become more tedious (those stupid botters ruined it for everyone), but it takes roughly the same amount of time, just spread throughout the day. I don't always get all the searches done, and I'm fine with that. If I only did 3 searches per day to get the streak and puzzle piece, I'd still earn 10k per month.
@LaurenceJ1987 basically exactly the same as I feel. I really hope the quick time events in the turn based combat don't get old in Clair Obscur. The overworld map looks amazing.
Blue Prince sounds novel, and worth trying.
I think Tempopo looks insane lol, like Lemmings or Bridge Constructor Portal in a way. It may not be great, I might never finish it, but I'm very interested in trying it.
And I'm hoping South of Midnight will carry the month either way. The art style looks so good. Really looking forward to it.
I've actually been getting the itch to jump back into WoW with Classic, but unfortunately I used up my one good mousing wrist playing WoW religiously the first time around. Nowadays I can't play anything too intense with a mouse, so I'd love to see a native console port with proper controller support, and a sub included with GPU of course lol
@Cherip-the-Ripper I finished it a few days ago, doing all exploration, side quests, etc. and came out just under 90 hours. If you read the lore lying around, if you explore every nook and cranny, if you talk to people, it's pretty meaty. I think you can breeze through the story in under 40 hours easily if you're not really interested in the other stuff.
For what it's worth I think it's the most interesting, complex end game choices Obsidian has ever done (I haven't played Deadfire yet), including New Vegas which I loved. Many small things that are unmarked will impact the way the game plays out. All but one of the companions were pretty great too imo. Their banter in camp and out in the world really carried the minute to minute gameplay for me. I loved what they did with the combat, exploration, and main narrative choices. I've been thinking about it a lot for the last several days since finishing. Compared to the Outer Worlds, which I thought was pretty good, I realized I can't remember what happens in that game at all, and I can tell Avowed is going to stick with me.
@Residentsteven I've got eneloop rechargeables that I've had since the end of the 360 era that I'm still using in SX controllers. I just keep a couple extra ready to go and it's never a hassle. I would never want to trade for a contained unit that can fail and brick the whole controller, which I've had happen with multiple ps4 controllers
@FraserG you can get a charger with 4 AAs for $20 bucks (used to be $10) on amazon. It's way cheaper than buying a whole new controller or buying single use batteries which really add up. After my play and charge kit failed on 360, rendering my wireless controller forever wired, I switched to rechargeable and most of them have lasted for 15+ years
@S1ayeR74 I own, on dvd and bluray, less than 1% of tv shows and movies I've ever watched. I donate almost all my books once I've read them. I don't need to own every game I've ever played. I'm fine with renting 95% of them and buying the few I know I want to keep. As long as there are new games coming out I'll never realistically go back and play games I've already completed anyway
Still a massive value. In the last month I've played Rolling Hills, Octopath 2, Callisto Protocol, tried out Steam World Dig and Humanity, currently playing Immortals of Aveum, and will definitely be playing Flintlock and Kunitsu Gami in a few days. That's roughly a year's sub right there
When I was a kid I'd rent a game at the Video Zone for a few days once or twice a month and hope my save wasn't deleted. I'd get one game on my birthday and one at Christmas. Maybe one more with my own money during the year. Occasionally I'd buy used, years after their release
I never played so many games, especially new games, before game pass. A few extra dollars changes nothing for me. Hell, I used to pay tobacco companies more than that daily to slowly poison me to death lol
I always turn off chromatic aberration, film grain, motion blur anyway. It ran great last night, played chapter 1 on performance mode on SX and Oled with VRR, no issues.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the movement like I did with Atomic Heart, immediately felt how clunky and slow it was. I'll look at the deadzone and see if it makes a difference, but honestly felt fine to me.
I don't do game previews anymore after trying Grounded a few times in early access, then getting progress reset, then deciding to wait until full release and absolutely loving the game. The resets are just too frustrating and no achievements really seals the deal. I understand the benefit to the developer, I just wish they weren't billed as big additions to the service when they're unfinished with no achievement support.
Well that sucks. Guess I'll have to move my pc out of the office to hook it up to the tv. For people saying we used to do 30 fps and it was fine, old tvs weren't as affected by it. I know for my Oled 30 fps is brutal. It's nearly perfect at 60-120 fps, but it doesn't handle low frame rates well. If only they could add a 40 fps option for VRR sets. It worked fine on Plague Tale.
@rustyduck Ghostwire has 3 modes, Quality 30 fps ray tracing, Performance 60 fps, and High Frame Rate uncapped on SX
I love Terraria but there was an update several years ago that destroyed the console UI and I refuse to play it again. Hopefully this game has a decent inventory/crafting interface that isn't designed for PC and just slapped on the console port. Looks pretty good in that trailer
@themightyant If you were choosing not to complete those quests before you were leaving hundreds of points on the table. That hasn't changed. If you were choosing to complete them before, the increase in time is negligible.
It took the exact same amount of time to get 3 kills in PVZ mp as it did 1 year ago. It took 1 min longer to get 28 kills in Outriders than it did to get 20 a year ago. It took 3 mins longer to get 100 days passed in Cities Skylines than it took to get 50 days passed 2 years ago. 4 minutes in 3 weeks... that's like 10 seconds a day.
It's still 10 mins a day on average, to complete all offers, on pc, mobile, and xbox. It's still ~18k pts a month, if you choose to participate. 25k in the US
@themightyant you're wrong. It was never the case that you could collect all the points from game pass quests by "natural play". That's what FatalBubbles was referring to when he said he always skipped the ones he didn't want to play. There were always featured games that required specific objectives to earn points. The points have changed over time, several times, but the objectives are mostly the same and the total points available to earn per month hasn't decreased.
These quests that take time to complete, like the PVZ quest, have been a part of it for years. That one has been on there at least 4-5 times in the exact same format, and the 250 pts it's worth this week is the most it's ever been. Some of them have increased requirements for completion, but the amount of points offered is proportionally more than that increase. Outriders 1 year ago required killing 20 enemies for 75 pts, last week it was 28 enemies for 250 pts. In no way is that a nerf.
@FatalBubbles You were passing up hundreds of points skipping those quests before and you're passing up hundreds of points skipping them now. You get out what you put in, same as ever
@themightyant The monthly quest he was referring to is for completion of quests throughout the month. It was from that monthly quest, which required doing a certain amount of weekly and daily quests, that they moved points into the current weekly quests.
I already mentioned the PVZ quest, it's been done before in the exact same format, get 3 mp kills. It takes 10 mins, same as it did when they offered it last year and the year before. They used to offer 50 pts for the same quests. Cities Skylines used to be "pass 50 days" for 50 pts, recently it was "pass 100 days" for 250 pts.
The same amount of total points are available for completing largely the same activities as have always been on offer. 10 mins a day is what I told my friends when they had never heard of rewards 4 years ago and that is still true. "Not worth it imo" fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Saying it's been nerfed is false. Stop spreading the narrative that rewards has been diminished. It's bs
@FatalBubbles again, that's your choice, not less available points. There were hundreds of points a month from monthly and weekly quests that required playing games before. Were you skipping those too?
The PVZ GW2 quest this week is exactly the same as it was before, get 3 kills in mp. It's on cloud, takes 10 minutes to complete. Choosing not to do that is completely valid, complaining about the rewards program offering fewer points when you're actively choosing not to participate, is not.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Death's Door joined game pass 6 months after release. It's still on the service. Much like the Falconeer, added 3 months later, although that is no longer available on GP. Explorator could be the same as those.
@themightyant It's always been the case that rewards vary by region. Any region that can access this quest already needed a GP sub to access the thousands of points from the other GP quests.
@FatalBubbles Are you not doing the weekly quests? What specifically changed that's causing you to earn less?
@Reptilio same experience for me. Hogwarts was perfect for a few hours, Hogsmeade too. But there is no immersion. Choices don't matter at all. The open world was just pitiful.
There were already thousands of points a month locked behind a GP sub. Anyone who wants to earn these points can just buy the sub with points they earn from other places. 12k pts for 1 month sub can easily be earned without the sub in less than 1 month. There's about 25-26k pts available per month now.
@themightyant They haven't nerfed anything. The only change is they moved the points from the monthly quest to the weekly quests. Same activities, some are slightly longer, same amount of points. More points are available from new offers also. Stop spreading this narrative, it's false.
@RentedPanda Sounds good. Yeah looking forward to trying later when I get some time, always enjoy the surprises from game pass
@ParsnipHero I'll check it out, I love slay the spire, monster train, even tainted grail was not too bad. Basically any new take on magic the gathering style mechanics
@awp69 @ParsnipHero yeah this one caught my eye. Hadn't heard of it. I love deck builders, how does it implement the deck aspect of it? Can't really tell from the trailer.
I played through a couple crossings and then stopped in the middle of one, and just didn't go back to it. I think I would have liked it more if it was one longer journey where you got to form connections with the characters you meet along the way through your own story, rather than playing several different characters.
The concept was good, but because my character was resetting each time it didn't feel as meaningful to me. It felt disconnected, just little vignettes that I had no attachment to.
I got the Lunar Shift because it was on sale around Christmas. I might have to get this next Christmas. That looks so good, and I usually don't really care as long as it works.
I took the survey. Loved Wo Long, best day 1 3rd party since I've been on game pass starting in late 2017. But my real jam is ROT3K. I would love to see ROT3K XI added to pc game pass or even ported to console somehow.
Koei Tecmo has existed for so long, I would also love to see some kind of sega arcade or rare replay style compilation where I could play their old games going back to ROT3K 2 on SNES, and Tecmo Super Bowl on NES
I keep it at about 50-60% on both the internal and expansion card. Right now that's 55 games, not including the several pre-ordered or pre-installed. I have fast internet and high data cap, never felt the need to keep every game I've ever purchased dled at once. When I finish a game I usually uninstall, there's always new stuff coming to game pass to make room for.
Wo Long by a mile. I have played quite a bit of Civ 6 since finishing Wo Long though, it's a good entry in the series. I tried Ni No Kuni and just like the first I gave up after a couple hours because the combat just isn't very good.
@Sakai totally agree. It's the best 3rd party for me too, since joining in late 2017.
Try it if you haven't, it only takes 10 hours. I think it's a better game than Control, which didn't tell an actual story, but did have pretty good lore. QB suffered from launching on Xbox during a time when people just didn't really give anything on the platform a chance, but much like Sunset Overdrive it was arguably some of the studio's best work.
If Control was a shotgun blast of lore that fired more storylines at us than it ever intended to follow through on, QB was a sniper shot of tight storytelling. You never had to backtrack through areas full of Hiss you had cleared dozens of times. You never got red herrings, like her brother was the entire reason Jesse went into the Oldest House and they just sort of resolve it off screen with a throwaway line after hinting that they might be different manifestations of the same person.
QB delivers a concise plot that is carried by great performances from a stellar cast in a linear act by act structure that just plays better overall than the fever dream that was Control. I think Control's worst sin was that there really are no consequences. The hiss is still in the house, Jesse is still the director, everything is basically the same as it was when you start the game, nothing you do changes anything.
In QB there are choices that matter, and you see those choices borne out in the show. It attempted to blend the medium with film in a way I had never experienced, and without playing QB I probably would never have given games like Late Shift, Bandersnatch, Telling Lies, or Immortality a chance. It changed the way I look at what games can be.
@LordFunkalot "These Merlin trials won't get the best of me" yeah because they're insultingly easy. Merlin had SUPER low standards apparently. The ones where you have to jump on 4 platforms without touching the ground, you can just fly from one to the next on your broom lmao
Again though, decent game, just not goty, and many people crowned Hogwarts immediately
You only need 2 by the way. On Rewards Hunter youtube channel he showed the first 2 Ben 10 achievements and I completed only those two and that was sufficient.
@LordFunkalot if I could do it over I would just focus on the story missions, the main story is pretty well done. I felt like I needed to clear the map and it ended up being unsatisfying. Lesson learned.

Outriders 1 year ago required killing 20 enemies for 75 pts, last week it was 28 enemies for 250 pts. In no way is that a nerf.
Re: Xbox Unveils New 'Daily Achievement' Xbox Game Pass Quest
It's bs
Re: Xbox Unveils New 'Daily Achievement' Xbox Game Pass Quest
@FatalBubbles again, that's your choice, not less available points. There were hundreds of points a month from monthly and weekly quests that required playing games before. Were you skipping those too?
The PVZ GW2 quest this week is exactly the same as it was before, get 3 kills in mp. It's on cloud, takes 10 minutes to complete. Choosing not to do that is completely valid, complaining about the rewards program offering fewer points when you're actively choosing not to participate, is not.
Re: Fantasy FPS 'The Explorator' Steals The Show At Xbox Indie Event
@Cherip-the-Ripper Death's Door joined game pass 6 months after release. It's still on the service. Much like the Falconeer, added 3 months later, although that is no longer available on GP. Explorator could be the same as those.
Re: Xbox Unveils New 'Daily Achievement' Xbox Game Pass Quest
@themightyant It's always been the case that rewards vary by region. Any region that can access this quest already needed a GP sub to access the thousands of points from the other GP quests.
@FatalBubbles Are you not doing the weekly quests? What specifically changed that's causing you to earn less?
Re: Fantasy FPS 'The Explorator' Steals The Show At Xbox Indie Event
Kinda reminds me of Tinkykin. With guns. And dinosaurs.
Re: New Redfall Trailer Highlights The Telekinetic Abilities Of Layla
@Total_Weirdo "We're fast approaching the release of Redfall on Xbox Game Pass on May 2nd, 2023"
Ghostwire and MC Legends and Benedict Fox are April though so hopefully those make you happy too.
Re: Talking Point: Show Of Hands, Who's Still Waiting For Hogwarts Legacy On Xbox One?
@Reptilio same experience for me. Hogwarts was perfect for a few hours, Hogsmeade too. But there is no immersion. Choices don't matter at all. The open world was just pitiful.
Re: Xbox Unveils New 'Daily Achievement' Xbox Game Pass Quest
There were already thousands of points a month locked behind a GP sub. Anyone who wants to earn these points can just buy the sub with points they earn from other places. 12k pts for 1 month sub can easily be earned without the sub in less than 1 month. There's about 25-26k pts available per month now.
@themightyant They haven't nerfed anything. The only change is they moved the points from the monthly quest to the weekly quests. Same activities, some are slightly longer, same amount of points. More points are available from new offers also. Stop spreading this narrative, it's false.
Re: Xbox Game Pass Kicks Off April With Two Surprise Arrivals
@RentedPanda Sounds good. Yeah looking forward to trying later when I get some time, always enjoy the surprises from game pass
@ParsnipHero I'll check it out, I love slay the spire, monster train, even tainted grail was not too bad. Basically any new take on magic the gathering style mechanics
Re: Xbox Game Pass Kicks Off April With Two Surprise Arrivals
@awp69 @ParsnipHero yeah this one caught my eye. Hadn't heard of it. I love deck builders, how does it implement the deck aspect of it? Can't really tell from the trailer.
Re: Review: Road 96: Mile 0 - A Fantastic Prequel That Builds On Road 96's Heartfelt Adventure
Re: Starfield Leak Reveals First Look At Stunning New Xbox Controller
I got the Lunar Shift because it was on sale around Christmas. I might have to get this next Christmas. That looks so good, and I usually don't really care as long as it works.
Re: Koei Tecmo Wants Your Suggestions For New Xbox Game Pass Titles
I took the survey. Loved Wo Long, best day 1 3rd party since I've been on game pass starting in late 2017. But my real jam is ROT3K. I would love to see ROT3K XI added to pc game pass or even ported to console somehow.
Koei Tecmo has existed for so long, I would also love to see some kind of sega arcade or rare replay style compilation where I could play their old games going back to ROT3K 2 on SNES, and Tecmo Super Bowl on NES
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Series X|S Owners, How's Your Storage Looking In 2023?
I keep it at about 50-60% on both the internal and expansion card. Right now that's 55 games, not including the several pre-ordered or pre-installed. I have fast internet and high data cap, never felt the need to keep every game I've ever purchased dled at once. When I finish a game I usually uninstall, there's always new stuff coming to game pass to make room for.
Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In March?
Wo Long by a mile. I have played quite a bit of Civ 6 since finishing Wo Long though, it's a good entry in the series. I tried Ni No Kuni and just like the first I gave up after a couple hours because the combat just isn't very good.
@Sakai totally agree. It's the best 3rd party for me too, since joining in late 2017.
Re: Another Eight Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon (April 2023)
Re: Xbox Console Exclusive Wins BAFTA 'Best Game' Award, Beating Elden Ring And God Of War
Re: Microsoft Rewards: How To Complete April's 'Save The Day, Save The World' Xbox Punch Card
You only need 2 by the way. On Rewards Hunter youtube channel he showed the first 2 Ben 10 achievements and I completed only those two and that was sufficient.
Re: Xbox Console Exclusive Wins BAFTA 'Best Game' Award, Beating Elden Ring And God Of War
@LordFunkalot if I could do it over I would just focus on the story missions, the main story is pretty well done. I felt like I needed to clear the map and it ended up being unsatisfying. Lesson learned.
Re: Microsoft Rewards: How To Complete April's 'Save The Day, Save The World' Xbox Punch Card
@miniw76 usually it's 3 total from any of them. Doesn't have to be the same game
