Subscription ran out today. Done. Started in on PS5 physical backlog purchased on the cheap - older "big" games like infinite wealth, avatar, cyberpunk.

This is the line many companies float when they can't keep up with their actual "biggest competition".

I'd covered 9/12 months or more with rewards. I'm canceling but I'm probably a subset microsoft is trying to weed out.

Picked up Dragon Age physical for $18 or something and had a great time. That + Gears and Persona to me is a great 1/2 month. Plus Herdlings is a longshot for me but who knows ...

Finishing up my 2-year, 100 hour Valhallla slog - needed long breaks - and knocked out Mirage in the midst. Good timing. Ill need a 6 month break which should mean a nice discount on Shadows when I'm ready.

Probably looking for a larger Game Pass pay day, as it seems likely to end up there eventually. Can't fault them that really.

Like many have said, if a company does not like the compensation terms associated with GP, don't put a game on GP. If the terms and outcomes are bad for a majority of organizations, GP will go away or terms will change. Not an existential crisis.

Yes, Xbox S is a Game Pass Machine for me and was a perfect pickup at a perfect price a few years ago. Also introduced me to all things Xbox. Will play it out until doesn't work as such anymore. Would need a similar value proposition for future console purchase, but doubt that's going to happen.

Increase in price of games sucks across the board, but I always wait for deep discount, so no impact personally. On consoles, I will scale back from all 3 to 1 for next 'generation'. Likely a switch in 18-24 months then new PS in a few years after. Not Xbox as it is a nice to have for GP, but they way Rewards have been throttled, won't be using GP much in the future.
*First party Nintendo games being the exception. But will be much more selective w Purchases there

There's really no debate. CORP A agrees to pay CORP B money to feature game. CORP B accepts money. Subscribers pay CORP A money (or Reward Points!) to access that game and others. Everyone is happy. Those that aren't do not have to partipate. No one is "hurt".

That's a shame. Played a LOT of it on Game Pass last couple of years. Won't shell out for it though. Too many other options teed up for my attention to chase it for $70.

Switch 2 can serve as a serious revenue boost for MS with some solid ports without trying to fit COD proper on Switch. Few years time, goal should be an MS handheld that rivals, beats Steam Deck, etc in power and extras

Have a number of these offered. And the prices are great! But as noted, I've played all that are on offer for me via GP. Personally I'm not interested in purchasing a digital copy, even upgraded, of them.

Ha! Only played a couple hours. From that limited sampling only thing I'd disagree with are visuals. Ugly imo.

I turned to this article expecting to see a whole lot of good stuff I'd forgotten about. Glad to see I'm not bothered by this list. (I gave up the Silksong watch a couple of years ago.)

Holy hell. $800. I get that gaming PCs are expensive. Just need a minute. To the points made here, I'd think that XBox handheld price point would have to be closer to Switch 2 price than this.

So, I use reward points to obtain GamePass sub each month? Are they free for me? Or do we count opportunity costs where I could be doing something else instead of getting reward points?

Personally pretty happy. Haven't played Steamworld and Still Wakes looks very cool.

Not a game about dragons that appeals to someone other than grown adults! Good hair is a must. I'm in.
