Re: Talking Point: As We Approach GOTY Season, What's Your Pick As Things Stand?

dkxcalibur

I'm in the minority on this for sure! I gave Clair Obscura a try but I couldn't get into it. I enjoyed the story but I found the world to be not my style and the actual gameplay/combat was also not for me. I struggled through play sessions until I finally admitted that I didn't care for it despite all the accolades and others claiming GOTY.

I played completely through South of Midnight and I enjoyed if for the most part. The style, world, and story, were incredible. I thought the gameplay was okayish. I really like this game, but I question if it should even be nominated for GOTY.

I'm currently playing Blue Prince. I really like this game. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere though.....but I want to keep trying. It's very unique, as I've never played a game like this before. I won't claim it as GOTY until I complete it or move on.

I'm not sure what to pick this year. I don't own a Switch 2 so I haven't played Donkey Kong and I'll probably not own one before Metroid releases.

Last year I would have said Balatro or Indiana Jones for sure.

Re: EA To Be Acquired By Consortium Of Investors For $55 Billion USD

dkxcalibur

Right or wrong, I'll leave for others to discuss.

I think the content in future EA games will not be effected by this the way people think. This isn't the first time investors from that region have backed gaming companies and in those situations, they have not interfered with the day to day or what those companies have produced. In my opinion, I think there are many positives from EA going private. When a company is publicly traded, the best decisions aren't always made in order to keep the shareholders happy.

Re: Talking Point: Should Xbox Bring Back Limited Edition Consoles?

dkxcalibur

I don't think it needs to be limited editions that are crazy different. What about just different colored systems or with designs based on some of the Xbox owned games? Keep it simple, but mix it up.

Personally I'm not double dipping on any systems, no matter how cool they look.....but when I'm buying a new system, and if one exist, I would most certainly at least think about it.

I think the price point also determines whether or not I'm buying.

Re: Xbox Founding Member 'Not Pleased' With State Of The Brand In 2025

dkxcalibur

I personally really enjoy Xbox at the moment. It's been great on my Series X and our PC. Game Pass is really good value.

I think the writing is on the wall about the future of the brand's hardware. But I'm gaming in the "now". I'm currently enjoying the system and games. Who knows what system or service I'll be gaming on 3+ years from now. It doesn't mean I'm happy with this direction, but I am really enjoying the current run of awesome games they're putting out.

Re: Lots Of Xbox Games Have Quietly Received New 1000G Achievements

dkxcalibur

I love achievements, but not achievement hunting. When I'm playing games I'm really enjoying and planning on finishing, I really do try to lock down as many as I can, but I also don't get too stressed if I miss some either.

I'm not planning on purchasing games on this list, just to boost my score. I'd rather my money go somewhere else.

Re: Xbox Fan Shares & Compares Recent Aggregate Review Scores For First-Party Releases

dkxcalibur

I'm now a couple more chapters into South of Midnight and I have an update in regard to my placement of South of Midnight not being as good as Indy. I still think Indy is a better game, but South of Midnight is closing he game a little. The story is good and the world they are building in South of Midnight is very unique and fresh! I'm loving it.....just not as much as I enjoyed Indy.

Re: One Month On, Oblivion Remastered Has A Pretty Low Completion Rate On Xbox

dkxcalibur

Even if I started that game the day it dropped on gamepass, there's absolutely no chance that I would have been able to finish it in that time period. Add in the fact that there's so many quality games competing for gamer's attention, that low number doesn't surprise me at all.

Personally, I'm much more likely to start Avowed, Clair, or Doom first.

Re: Xbox Fan Shares & Compares Recent Aggregate Review Scores For First-Party Releases

dkxcalibur

I just recently finished Indy and immediately started South of Midnight. I'm only about 4-5 chapters into South of Midnight but from what I've played, I prefer Indiana Jones overall. I am really enjoying the story and style of South of Midnight, but in my opinion, the controls and camera are not near as good as Indy. I'm excited to get to Avowed, Doom, and Elder at some point.

Re: Talking Point: Has This Been The Best Month Ever For Xbox Game Pass?

dkxcalibur

I had gamepass last year for a couple months for the PC. It was okay at the time but we found ourselves playing the same basic games that were cheaper to straight up buy.

We got a Xbox in December and we've subscribed to Ultimate since then. All I can say is that it's been A++ since then. However, if I had to pick the strongest month, I would agree that it's probably been April.

Re: Roundup: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Getting Incredible Reviews So Far

dkxcalibur

Is there a better subscription than Gamepass at the moment? I have no regrets spending my hard earned money on Ultimate.

I'm guessing I'm about halfway through Indiana Jones. Next up is South of Midnight. Then it's going to come down to Clair, Oblivion, or one of the many other banger titles on the service. Doom is right around the corner!

Re: Bethesda Reportedly Has More Than One 'Remaster' In The Works

dkxcalibur

I had probably over 300+ hours into the original Fallout 3 back on the 360. I just got around to finally playing and finishing Fallout 4. As much as this pains me to say, I don't know if I'm too interested in revisiting the wasteland anytime soon.

Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games though. (Fallout 4 is pretty great as well!)

Re: Two Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 15)

dkxcalibur

We owned this on PS4 but I never really played it back then for longer than 15 minutes. Others in my family did and loved it. I played 3, Vice, and San Andreas a lot. I bought 4 but never gave it a chance because I was really into some other games at that time.

I will definitely pick this up while its on the pass.

Re: Indiana Jones PS5 Fans Not Happy With Xbox's Physical Media Habits

dkxcalibur

I have no comment about the practice of selling hard copies of games but needing to install additional stuff to make the game run.

I will say that I'm finally playing through the game and it's awesome. It was a bit of a slow start and I questioned if I should move on from it, but I stuck it out and I'm loving it now. It's really good if you give it a chance. I just arrived in Egypt in the game.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Game You've Played In 2025 So Far?

dkxcalibur

So, I've spent most of my time since December finally playing through Fallout 4. I did spend time playing Balatro during this time period too. I finally finished Fallout last Friday and was going to wait patiently for South of Midnight.....but I instead I started Indiana Jones instead. I will say that Balatro is my favorite game that I downloaded this year but I also think that came out in 2024 so I'm not sure that counts. Lonely Mountains is really good for what it is.

So I'll say that because most of the games I've played are older, and because that limits my choice, I'll go with Indian Jones. The game looks amazing. The experience is cool. The story is cool. I just don't think it does anything groundbreaking.
