I'm in the minority on this for sure! I gave Clair Obscura a try but I couldn't get into it. I enjoyed the story but I found the world to be not my style and the actual gameplay/combat was also not for me. I struggled through play sessions until I finally admitted that I didn't care for it despite all the accolades and others claiming GOTY.
I played completely through South of Midnight and I enjoyed if for the most part. The style, world, and story, were incredible. I thought the gameplay was okayish. I really like this game, but I question if it should even be nominated for GOTY.
I'm currently playing Blue Prince. I really like this game. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere though.....but I want to keep trying. It's very unique, as I've never played a game like this before. I won't claim it as GOTY until I complete it or move on.
I'm not sure what to pick this year. I don't own a Switch 2 so I haven't played Donkey Kong and I'll probably not own one before Metroid releases.
Last year I would have said Balatro or Indiana Jones for sure.
I'm probably the only person to vote for Kinect Party. I know it's not really even a game, but my kids loved that one and I have so many great memories because of that game.
It's sad. I've gamed more this year than I have in the past 5-6 years, and I credit that to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. I thought the service provided great value, but at an additional $10 a month, I don't know if I'll continue past when it's time to renew.
I think the content in future EA games will not be effected by this the way people think. This isn't the first time investors from that region have backed gaming companies and in those situations, they have not interfered with the day to day or what those companies have produced. In my opinion, I think there are many positives from EA going private. When a company is publicly traded, the best decisions aren't always made in order to keep the shareholders happy.
I finished the game 100%. I'm not sure about the DLC. That was my favorite game I've played over the last 12 months. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. There's just waaaaay too many games that I want to play so I'm on the fence about diving back into any game that I completed.
Anytime you hear about a game going always, no matter if it's an original, sequel, or remake, it sucks; but I would prefer that recourses be geared towards the sequel if it were up to me.
I don't think it needs to be limited editions that are crazy different. What about just different colored systems or with designs based on some of the Xbox owned games? Keep it simple, but mix it up.
Personally I'm not double dipping on any systems, no matter how cool they look.....but when I'm buying a new system, and if one exist, I would most certainly at least think about it.
I think the price point also determines whether or not I'm buying.
I gave this a go but couldn't get into it. The story was cool but the combat portion wasn't fun IMO. Having a retry option maybe would have kept me playing. Maybe I'll go back for a another try but not anytime soon.
Personally I feel Moon has created unnecessary drama with this announcement. Why not just say the Xbox version has been delayed or we're working through something with Xbox. I think the original statement they released is confusing and created negativity.
The game looks awesome. It's on my radar. Ultimately it depends if it's on a platform that I have access to.
When I clicked on the link for 3 months of ultimate for $49, it showed up as the normal price of $59. I'm assuming Amazon has already closed this sale.
I personally really enjoy Xbox at the moment. It's been great on my Series X and our PC. Game Pass is really good value.
I think the writing is on the wall about the future of the brand's hardware. But I'm gaming in the "now". I'm currently enjoying the system and games. Who knows what system or service I'll be gaming on 3+ years from now. It doesn't mean I'm happy with this direction, but I am really enjoying the current run of awesome games they're putting out.
I was about halfway through the campaign on Ultimate Edition when they announced this. I decided to put a pin in that session and wait for reloaded to come out.
I agree with other's post above, they need to do this with 2 & 3, specifically 2. Gear 2 was the reason I purchased a 360!
I love achievements, but not achievement hunting. When I'm playing games I'm really enjoying and planning on finishing, I really do try to lock down as many as I can, but I also don't get too stressed if I miss some either.
I'm not planning on purchasing games on this list, just to boost my score. I'd rather my money go somewhere else.
I just started this game last night. I made it through the prologue and stopped after the cut scene at the beginning of Act 1. I'm playing on Expedition difficulty but I'll admit that timing the dodge and parry has been a struggle for me. Story seems cool so far.
I'm now a couple more chapters into South of Midnight and I have an update in regard to my placement of South of Midnight not being as good as Indy. I still think Indy is a better game, but South of Midnight is closing he game a little. The story is good and the world they are building in South of Midnight is very unique and fresh! I'm loving it.....just not as much as I enjoyed Indy.
Even if I started that game the day it dropped on gamepass, there's absolutely no chance that I would have been able to finish it in that time period. Add in the fact that there's so many quality games competing for gamer's attention, that low number doesn't surprise me at all.
Personally, I'm much more likely to start Avowed, Clair, or Doom first.
I just recently finished Indy and immediately started South of Midnight. I'm only about 4-5 chapters into South of Midnight but from what I've played, I prefer Indiana Jones overall. I am really enjoying the story and style of South of Midnight, but in my opinion, the controls and camera are not near as good as Indy. I'm excited to get to Avowed, Doom, and Elder at some point.
I've owned most Nintendo Systems throughout the years. I will continue that with the Switch 2. But it will not be on day one. I can't justify the purchase right now with the backlog of games I have on PC/Xbox/Switch.
I've owned systems from many companies, I tend to keep coming back to Xbox and Nintendo. Personally, gamepass is awesome! I do probably 75% on Series X and the other 25% on PC; but primarily it's just games on gamepass.
I had gamepass last year for a couple months for the PC. It was okay at the time but we found ourselves playing the same basic games that were cheaper to straight up buy.
We got a Xbox in December and we've subscribed to Ultimate since then. All I can say is that it's been A++ since then. However, if I had to pick the strongest month, I would agree that it's probably been April.
Is there a better subscription than Gamepass at the moment? I have no regrets spending my hard earned money on Ultimate.
I'm guessing I'm about halfway through Indiana Jones. Next up is South of Midnight. Then it's going to come down to Clair, Oblivion, or one of the many other banger titles on the service. Doom is right around the corner!
I had probably over 300+ hours into the original Fallout 3 back on the 360. I just got around to finally playing and finishing Fallout 4. As much as this pains me to say, I don't know if I'm too interested in revisiting the wasteland anytime soon.
Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games though. (Fallout 4 is pretty great as well!)
There are sooooo many great games included in this sale. If I didn't subscribe to Ultimate and have a growing backlog of games included with the pass, I would definitely pick a game up.
We owned this on PS4 but I never really played it back then for longer than 15 minutes. Others in my family did and loved it. I played 3, Vice, and San Andreas a lot. I bought 4 but never gave it a chance because I was really into some other games at that time.
I will definitely pick this up while its on the pass.
I have no comment about the practice of selling hard copies of games but needing to install additional stuff to make the game run.
I will say that I'm finally playing through the game and it's awesome. It was a bit of a slow start and I questioned if I should move on from it, but I stuck it out and I'm loving it now. It's really good if you give it a chance. I just arrived in Egypt in the game.
So, I've spent most of my time since December finally playing through Fallout 4. I did spend time playing Balatro during this time period too. I finally finished Fallout last Friday and was going to wait patiently for South of Midnight.....but I instead I started Indiana Jones instead. I will say that Balatro is my favorite game that I downloaded this year but I also think that came out in 2024 so I'm not sure that counts. Lonely Mountains is really good for what it is.
So I'll say that because most of the games I've played are older, and because that limits my choice, I'll go with Indian Jones. The game looks amazing. The experience is cool. The story is cool. I just don't think it does anything groundbreaking.
@FraserG Maybe I did something wrong because I currently subscribe to Gamepass Ultimate, but for some reason, the version of Madden I thought was incomplete. Maybe I missed something in game, but I thought it said I couldn't do ultimate team in Madden.

Re: Jurassic World Evolution 3 Roars Its Way To Xbox This October
I thought 2 was a very fun game. I don't know if I'll grab this day 1 but I will check it out at some point.

I never played this game but I've been interested. How does it hold up?
Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Replay Games?
I think Fallout 3, Windwaker, and Gears 1 & 2 are the only games I've ever replayed outside of games from the NES generation.
Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Anniversary Update Brings New Game+ To Xbox
I love the game but I don't think this is enough to make me revisit.

Re: ROG Xbox Ally Prices Finally Revealed, Pre-Orders Now Live
I'm more likely to pull the trigger on a Switch 2 than I am for this.
.....but that's just me.
I'm extremely happy with my Xbox X, PC, and Game Pass Ultimate.
Re: Alinea Analytics Says Gears Reloaded Is Tracking Well Behind Forza Horizon 5 On PS5
I think this is common sense. I wouldn't have bet on Gears to out perform Forza on PS5.
Now if they put Gears 6 on PS5, that would be a different story maybe.
Re: Talking Point: It's Not On Xbox Game Pass, So Will You Be Buying The Indiana Jones DLC?

Gears 2 & 3 for me! Although the OG, especially the remake, is also really good.

The sale is incredible. So many great games on that list.
But for me, the current backlog is too large for me to justify a purchase.

Re: Review: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Xbox) - A Sublime Debut And One Of The Freshest RPGs In Ages

There are soooo many awesome games and just too little time.

@Kaloudz Same here! But I'll probably DL it to play short sessions.
I don't think I'm interested in any of the other titles.

So, I've spent most of my time since December finally playing through Fallout 4. I did spend time playing Balatro during this time period too.
