Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Gears Of War Game On Xbox?

Definitely Gears Tactics but Gears 5 and the first Gears of War are close behind.

2 is the best. I only play gears campaigns (multiplayer in shooters tends to end with me breaking something) and gears 2 has an incredible campaign. The opening to Tip of the Spear, all the way to the final boss (the part where you gotta topple the tower with the centaur can go to hell however) is just the coolest thing. Makes me glad I’ve got an Xbox, since 2 and 3 are still Xbox exclusive all this time later

I'm a sucker for sequels, so it's Gears 2 for me.

Gears 2 is my favourite game of them all. It improved on the first in every way making it darker and much larger scale than before - I won't spoil anything, but this for me was the pinnacle of the Franchise.

3 was great too but not as dark/moody and 4 & 5 had taken the 'War' from the Series entirely. Judgement just isn't Gears and I couldn't care less about Tactics - that's NOT what I expect a Gears Game to play like. I don't have any issue with them taking a completely different genre and wrapping it up in a Gears skin rather than make a 'new' IP and try to sell that, but that won't make me play it. I played Gears because of the Game-play Loop, that Third Person action cover shooter with Active Reloads first and foremost and why I played ALL the others despite the fact that since Judgement, the IP has not been made by Epic and certainly not reached the heights or impact of the Original EPIC Trilogy.

I know 4 and 5 get some hate, but I looooved 4.
That final boss fight is some of the coolest dumb ***** I've seen.

I beat gears 1 first time ever last year on hard and it was great. One of the best games i played last year.
Thats a rare case that I might even replay it to due to reloaded. Maybe on max difficulty this time.

Gears of war 2 for introducing horde mode. But gears 5 has the best horde mode so far.

I think each successive installment was better than previous (yes, including Judgement). So for me - Gears 5. It was just shockingly good.

I have played them all which is cool because my first Xbox was Xbox One. I liked them all except 5, but Hivebusters is also a lot of fun. Awesome gameplay and vibes (until 5).

Gears of war 2 had the best campaign but gears 3 was the best overall by far for me met so many Xbox friends on that game joined a clan for multiplayer and spent hundreds of hours playing it!!
Scrims and beef with other clans it was such a laugh!!

Shocker! I love 'em all...! I went with GoW2, but I had to give it some real thought.

I never touch PvP multiplayer, so I cannot speak to that, but I love Horde. Indeed, I met my two best mates playing Horde in GoW2, and am Godfather to one of their children now (well, have been for the past 8 years!).

Horde was improved upon in GoW3, and I spent thousands of hours (literally!) playing that mode with a group of 4 other mates, and we beat every map on Insane, and also managed a couple of top 100 scores too.

Horde has become better with each passing game, although I thought it was little weaker in Judgement.

I play Gears 5 Horde now every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and we do an Insane run as either a duo or a trio, and I have now managed to rack up around 2000+ on the Horde mode alone, and am currently number 88 in the world as a Mechanic.

Personally, I have enjoyed every GoW campaign (including Judgement) and I play through them all every year. I have soloed them all on Insane or Inconceivable, and love the challenge they bring. No other game does it better, and Insane or higher is where the campaigns are at their best.

Having really enjoyed 4 and 5, I am might miffed that they are not concluding that story before moving on to E-Day, but I guess they felt they needed to start with E-Day for the PlayStation crowd who I think will be enjoying that game day one with the rest of us...

All three Gears games are awesome, Gears 2 perhaps the most entertaining of the three.

This is my favorite IP in gaming. For story Gears of War 2 for PVP Gears 5. Can’t wait for Reloaded and E-Day!

@Ricky-Spanish agreed. Gears 3 multi-player was the best! I spent a lot of time with that one, the maps were great too.

First and second hands down

Beat the whole series in coop with a buddy. Great fun all of them, but Gears 3 is the one I liked the most.

Best ones are 2 and 3. worst one by far is 5. those open world areas where a pain.

I think 2 from memory although 1 is a classic. Stopped after 4. Need to try Tactics and 5.

I didn't olay any Gears games until 4. I did play the first remaster but I would day 5 was my favorite.

Gears 3 was the best two was fine but I remember it being very Brown and the levels uninspiring especially when you went underground 3 just had better variety of levels also had a better story and a great finish to the series That Should Have Ended there.

Gears 1 is my favorite game game of all time, The Campaign was dark and had a great story, plus I think the Multiplayer in 1 is superior to the sequels..

Gears 3 was great in both campaign and multiplayer. Gears 2 is also great if only for the campaign.

Gears 5 is a good game if you only want to play chapter 1....

I took Gears 5.
I completed this game last year for the first time and in the end, I was really surprised in how great it was. I didn't believe it, but in terms of graphics, presentation, atmosphere and gameplay variety, I think this was the best of the Gears games.
After 5 comes 2 for me and than 1.

@jikflet really? That were 2 chapters with the bigger world. I actually liked them as a mix of gameplay. It played fast and didn't take too much time.

I strongly agree that Gears 3 might be the best in the series.

Gears 2 still is the best, don’t know what they were thinking on the later entries. Could have been good if they just kept the gore and the executions tight. But they had to introduce yellow glowing enemies in the third game, and then robots in the 4th and after that the series was dead to me. Like thanks Microsoft for trying to make it a Rated E game when it should have been always almost a Rated AO.

Tactics is the only one I have any interest in

I'm going to go with the 1st one. Just seemed like something special to me and I remember picking it up on day one at Gamestop. The good old days of physical media. Seems like it was a completely different era and time.

Gears of War 2 for sure. I was glued to the screen playing the campaign.

Gears Tactics is a fantastic game. I beat it on Insane last year and felt it to be a great achievement because that game is not easy! I loved the XCOM style of gameplay, and really hope they make a bigger and better sequel as I am interested to see what comes next for Gabe, Reyna, Sid and Mikayla...

@nomither6 in 3 the French dub is full of homophobic slur so I don’t keep good memories of that one (I should have played it in English but I was in France back in the days).

Short answer: Gears of War 2

Gears of war 3 was so good so it gets my vote. I did enjoy Gears of War 2 and got it a day earlier thanks to good old play.com back in the day. Once they fixed the bugs and rubber banding then it was a better game. Gears of War 3 launched so well and I enjoyed the extra weapons and maps that it brought with it.

I've actually never finished a gears game yet! I started the ultimate version on PC while waiting for the series X launch but apparently the save data doesn't transfer from PC to console so i dropped it. I've installed it twice since then to finally play it but with the new version coming i once again deleted it and will play it through for the first time this year.... hopefully

Gears 2 was the first one I played and I love it! I've played 1,3,4,5 since, but 2 will always be my favourite.

Gears 2 & 3 for me! Although the OG, especially the remake, is also really good.

Gears 2 by far. Gears 3 is the most "complete" Gears but Gears 2 campaign is perfect.

Hello there fellow gamers;
My personal favourite Gears of War is Gears 3, followed very closely by Gears 2.
Absolutely loved both games campaigns and even the multiplayer, and I´m not a multiplayer kind of guy.
The first Gears game will always be a classic though.
I also really enjoyed Gears of War 4 as well, minus the opening hours. Then it becomes the Gears of War experience I know and love.
Very excited for both Gears of war Reloaded and E-Day.
