Purexbox writers, you might want to check out the lack of availability of dlc content (paid or free) on FH4 as of June 27. I can't access the free and paid for dlc car packs. When I clicked on some car packs paid for, it said something about server errors.
Why do I get the feeling that the laser sword and Mega Man weapon would be purchasable with real currency? Those two unlocks required time and effort. The RE series has some infinite ammo weapons as DLC. To be fair, they make the games accessible with those wanting to spend more $$,
Why can't they just loop the festival playlist infinitely? As I understand, the current playlist has already been on a loop for a while. It gives people something new(ish) to do. The Trial is a nice way to race cooperatively with other players against somewhat challenging AI.
@Mustoe Good point. While I have enjoyed Redfall when playing with household members, I do see why Gamepass would skew the audience on the game.
I wonder how many % of consumers would pay $70, $50,$35,$20, $10 on Redfall. On my old school view, it's worth a rental.
The same with video streaming services. I have wondered how many trending movies would actually be seen on the big screen by those praising it if they have to drive and pay a higher entry fee for the movies.
Did you do the hideout/safehouse side missions? I think that is a newish update, and it really makes the world less empty. Plus doing them improves the state of the hideout/safehouses. So many aspects of Redfall reminds me of the first Division. That's why I can't say it's terrible or below average
A household member is playing it. 60fps on the XSX contributes to a passable experience at best. Even on normal solo play, enemies are bullet sponges and silenced weapons are way too depended on RNG drops.
I'll just download a user created livery and put it on the Delorean. That's good enough for me. There's enough quality Jurassic Park liveries for the Jeeps created by passionate creators on Forza Horizon.
Stranded might be worth downloading. I have to remind household members that Atomic Heart's one year stay is coming up. It's taking up a bit of space on the external drive.
Finishing "High On Life" and "Bramble". Hopefully, MS will announce the next departing Gamepass titles this weekeend.
@everynowandben The humor and dialogue of High on Life is the main strength and the reason I obtained 28 out of the 32 base game achievements. Without the humor and tone, I would have been way more critical of the gameplay. I like that they threw out a sequel bait in the same comedic tone of the game.
High on Life and Bramble are good and easy completions as well. The first one even gives those who finish it an achievement for spending 15 hours in an alien strip club
Callisto will be downloaded. I finished the first two Dead Space games for the first time this year. Even the sequel is very good thanks to the XSX upscaling and resolution boost. It didn't even feel "old" TBH.
It really is that similar to Forza Horizon during the open beta. I would get Motorfest, but FH5 keeps getting updates with the weekly playlist. There's always something new to do in FH5 with the updates.
The ingame prices of cars in Motorfest is a concern and too high. It looked very grindy and the racing rewards too partly. In addition, the Motorfest equivalent of the "weekly playlist" requires placing at certain high percentages against the whole population to get the top rewards. In comparison, FH5 just basically gives new exclusive cars away if you race 1 hour per week
@jesse_dylan I'm aware that the 4080 and its AMD equivalent have problems running the newest demanding games at 4k even when ray tracing is not factored in. I also agree that native 4k is not realistic with current gen consoles. However, the PS5 and XSX are powerful enough to run games at 60fps. Look at Forza Horizon 4-5, Redfall, Starfield, and the Spider Man games on PSN. The 60fps on console can be achieved at lower resolutions on some games.
I'm glad that more consumers are not ok with 30fps. The "cinematic" excuse was bullcrap back then, and it's even more ridiculous in 2024 when consoles are more powerful.
If the Activision merger and acquisition is cited in a future price increase, Xbox should have different tiers like Netflix or HBO Max. The highest tier would have the Activision products and equivalent to the 4k/HDR video streaming. The lower tier won't have that, but have a lower price point. They might as well throw the cloud streaming on the highest tier, but keep a lower price on the lower tier
@Meehanuk_1987 Try Astro's Playroom. It's already installed on your PS5. It's a charming platformer. Those type of games are not common on PSN and Xbox
Good for people who haven't played it. Rcoskatar games don't stay long. With millions of copies sold, it can be bought cheaply used. The copy I bought for the household came with the physical map and the zombie mode disc.
AC Japan is the first one I'll skip intentionally even if the gold version "just for you" offer is less than a cheap chain pizza down the years. The lack of East Asian male representation is a concern.
The last six male leads of AC games have been native/ethnic matches of their lands whether it be Greece, Egypt, Scandinavia, UK, Middle East, or France. Yet somehow, Ubi can't be bothered to have a male East Asian as a lead. I've heard that song and dance before. I'm not even disappointed. I've seen the same scenario a few too many times to even be surprised.
@GeeEssEff Thanks. I've read praise for the Foundation for quite a while. I'm also cautiously curious about the live action Godzilla/Monarch show. The English language Godzilla movies are a a mixed bag for sure.
@brettvsgodzilla I've been hearing good things about Apple tv. The Napoleon movie, the Scorsese movie, Silo, and Severance have been on my watchlist.
I can see resubscribing to Netflix for one month or two at most during winter 2024. It will let other household members to binge on whatever they want to watch. The account sharing crackdown has been telegraphed for a while. It was a good deal when it lasted.
@Darude84 If Motorsport is not to your liking, try Forza Horizon 5. It's arcade like and more casual, but it's been better received so far. I've put tons of hours on it.
Be sure to try the first Plague Tale when you still have PS Plus. IMO it's the better of the two games. It's also an easy platinum if you're into that sort of thing.
@theduckofdeath You're right. There's still plenty of points to redeem for Gamepass or gift card for games. I still view MS rewards as a half full situation like you. I do miss the 50 point daily for an achievement. Even with less points for a daily achievement, I get to explore the Gamepass library at reasonable pace.
The 2024 nerf is nowhere as bad as the 2023 nerf. We used to get a 50 pt daily for just earning an achievement on a Gamepass title. People were claiming that they were easily earning 25,000 points monthly during 2023.
@ZYDIO IDK about getting laid with an entry level car.
Entry level cars come with inconveniences and unwanted compromises not unlike the lowest end gaming PCs or consoles like the PS5 and Series X. 20 plus years later, the horrible cornering of a mid 1990s Toyota Corolla I used to own still lives rent free in my head when driving. I actually miss the hand crank windows!
@PartyMarty I agree. The card system has the possibility of adding more replayability at higher difficulties. Just in case the publisher shuts down the servers, the AI don't act like morons as well.
That's unfortunate. Indies have been the highlight of Gamepass. Games like Tinykin, Outer Wilds, and Project Wingman have left such good memories. I have better experience with smaller games than AAA games in the Gamepass library.
@GeeEssEff -Daily desktop and mobile bing searches while watching tv/news/youtube -Additional points (click) on desktop and mobile bing -Mobile xbox app checkin
"Play" PC game (can be solitaire or vampire survivors) and claim points
Play a console game achievement for streaks and points.
The last part is the easiest since there are tons of Gamepass games and I have a TA achievement streak to tend to. I would have done a daily cheevo even if no points were given.
Even with the 2023 nerfs and now gone bonuses, I averaged around 14,000 points when a 1 month GPU autoredeem is 10,500 points. I don't do Jewel game because even the solitaire collection is more entertaining .
TBH, I would not do the boring mobile/desktop searches if I were not passively "watching" the news, youtube, or tv in general. BTW the pc game is now worth only 20 points. I only do it out of habit and primarily to check the xbox/gamepass desktop app for games/updates.
After 2023's nerfs, I'm not surprised that the bonus is gone. MS Rewards is still generous enough to pay for a month of Gamepass Ultimate per month. You can even skip that boring Jewel game and get enough points.
It's even better on a second playthrough at 60fps. The world it inhabits is like the X Files on steroids with a dash of Jedi powers and Twin Peaks. There's even a cigarette smoking man (Trench) for crying out loud. I like the weird collectibles on a 2nd run because I'm not rushing through the story.
Looking forward to replaying Control at 60fps. It came "free" with PS Plus when I had a sub. It was a decent deal to complete Control and FF VII Remake for $35 in 2021.
@Lup You're right AC1 made it to the PS3. It didn't have trophies versus the Xbox version which has achievements. Less than 3% of Xbox AC1 owners managed to kill every Templar. That's a lot of work.
The scale and scope of the games compared to PS2/ original Xbox games. I only got back to gaming in 2017. The likes of Dead Rising and the first Assassin's Creed were amazing. There were so many zombies, people, and buildings. I think both games never made it to the PS3 for some reason.
@Mindurbiniss You're right. It's not as often as we like. It's still a nice start to cycle the like of Maneater, Outer Wilds. Control, and others. Hopefully the trend continues.

Currently looking at the Apple TV perk. With "Netflix household" basically obliterating sharing accounts, the Apple tv for 3 months looks appealing.
I wish I watched Rebel Moon part 2 before the Netflix shared account got nuked.
Re: Fallout: London Suffers Delay, Dev Wasn't Told About Fallout 4 Update
