GTA 6 Extended Look Causes Spike In Xbox Series X|S Sales In The UK

Although Xbox has just recently increased the prices of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S by a substantial amount due to the ongoing component crisis, they've enjoyed a spike in sales in the UK over the past few days.

This is according to Nielsen IQ via The Game Business, which says that Xbox Series S and X sales "leapt 34%" last week due to the GTA 6 Extended Look broadcast on Netflix, which clearly generated a ton of extra hype for the game.

Here's the exact quote from The Game Business report:

"According to Nielsen IQ, UK PS5 sales jumped 33% last week, while Xbox Series S and X sales leapt 34%. 31.1 million people watched the Netflix deep dive into Grand Theft Auto 6, which has caused game consoles to sell out at retailers worldwide. In the UK, just one model of the PS5 Pro is available to buy outright via Sony’s website, with almost every third-party retailer out of stock."

It makes sense that people are desperately trying to get their hands on Xbox and PlayStation consoles ahead of the GTA 6 release in November, as there's no sign of a PC version right now - and it almost certainly won't arrive in 2026.

That means people will be willing to pay over the odds for a new console even despite the price increases, and we assume similar reports of increased sales will come out of other regions in the near future.

If you were in any doubt of how huge GTA 6 will be, this is yet more evidence of a massive November ahead!
