Re: Reaction: Bethesda Delays Make June's Showcase Even More Important For Xbox

OldgamerDave

All right, now that's just ridiculous. I've just read the delay news and it's definitely not looking good for Microsoft/Bethesda and whoever else (I don'tcare). I know, I know, "you can't rush art", "crunch is bad", "let them have the time they need"... those are all valid arguments, for SMALL studios, with limited funds and few team members. HOWEVER, we're talking about multi-billion corporations here. Get a grip and get things done already! I'm honestly so full of this weak management, pathetic excuses and those endless delays, from the LARGEST companies in the game industry...that's why I've been investing my time and cash on indie games: they seem to be more competent and more authentic in their products and overall transparency.
Sorry for the rant.
I'm out.
(Drops mic in anger/ disgust)

Re: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase Confirmed For This June

OldgamerDave

Yo, guys! I just wanted to share that this will be a memorable date for my family: our first baby girl will be born on June 12th (or sooner...). So I won't be able to watch this thing, but I'll definitely be checking out Pure for some info. Please, send us some good vibes on that day!

Re: Random: The Microsoft Windows Twitter Account Sure Is Interested In Persona 5

OldgamerDave

Man, what a weird business strategy is that: keeping potential customers from buying your products?! Persona 5 is not gonna sell many copies exclusively on Playstation, considering its basically "old". However, if it was re-released on Switch and Xbox, people would surely buy it, or even double dip! Help me out here, fellows: what are the plausible reasons for Atlus's hesitation??

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Hits 18 Million Copies Sold, Witcher Series Now At 65 Million

OldgamerDave

Man, I was talking to the wife about CP2077 yesterday night, and she reminded me about Keanu's special moment on stage...my hype was surreal! However, after the reports of the sorry state that the game was released, I tuned my hype down to zero and waited...until last month. Well, I'm finishing up my run with the game tonight on my XSS and I gotta say: it's not bad at all! I mean, it's nothing like the revolutionary experience CDPR promised us, but it's a cool little campaign with great voice acting. That's it. Not great, not terrible, but overall I'm happy with my time with it. What are your impressions, guys?

Re: The Witcher 4 Announced By CD Projekt Red

OldgamerDave

@Casco No, they don't. And the same goes for people who STILL pre-order games, especially digital copies, considering that scarcity isn't even a thing anymore, and actually the "complete package" will be released 12 months or so later.

Re: Digital Foundry's Elden Ring Verdict Shows How Important VRR Is On Xbox

OldgamerDave

@Moto5 Glad to hear that, friend. The slight possibility of feeling sick is what's kept me away from vr experiences. I can only imagine your situation. But you're absolutely right: there's so much cool games that what we actually lack is the free time for them! On that note, I've been hearing good things about the newly released Shadow Warrior 3: solid pacing and simple gameplay loop - if you're a shooter fan, maybe you could give it a try sometime.

Re: Digital Foundry's Elden Ring Verdict Shows How Important VRR Is On Xbox

OldgamerDave

@Moto5 Good point! But I was just mentioning it in the name of a simpler time: we just had fun (or not, due to those pesky difficulties!) and that was it. Another example I can think of is Castlevania Symphony of the Night, on PS1 - it had lots and lots of frame-rate drops, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Let me rephrase that: I know it is important to demand quality for a product you've paid for, but, at the same time, maybe we should relax for a bit and have fun.
I've been playing Elden Ring on my XSS and I've been having a blast - with issues and all!

Re: Digital Foundry's Elden Ring Verdict Shows How Important VRR Is On Xbox

OldgamerDave

Guys, lately I've been wondering: aren't we becoming too obsessed with technical stuff in our hobby? You see, yesterday I was watching some retro gameplays on YouTube with my dad (I'm 36 and he's 60, by the way) and we had fun remembering some good old Atari2600/Nes classics...What I mean is: maybe we (myself included, of course) could have more fun, if we didn't dwell that long on the tech side of gaming. I know I've been trying to.

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (March 1-10)

OldgamerDave

@somnambulance Yup. Discussing opinions and disagreeing can bring up some cool debates,; but, attacking people personally, or simply being nasty is just plain stupid.
Take IGN comment section, for instance: I've seen people starting a discussion about a game/film, and, very quickly, things escalate and then, almost randomly, weirdos start arguing about faith, race, gender...you name it. To make things worse, because those topics break the site's rules, people do it in a (not very smart) veiled way.
So, again: we've got ourselves something nice going on here. (***and also, foreigners like myself get to practice their English, as a bonus!)

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Players Frustrated With 30FPS On Xbox Series S

OldgamerDave

@Titntin You've raised good points there, friend. I figure I gotta have both systems in order to enjoy what's to come, rather than run away from the Xbox ecosystem at the first sign of trouble... Buuuut, that'll have to wait, because my boy is turning 4 next week, and my first baby girl is coming along soon, so my budget for games is limited, to say the least! Well, that's ok, I guess I should just make my peace with the XSS and be grateful that I can afford it, right?

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Players Frustrated With 30FPS On Xbox Series S

OldgamerDave

@JayJ I wish I could, friend, but unfortunately South America is ruled by the so-called grey market, and even so, the XSX comes as "cheap" as $1100 or, 5 minimum Brazilian wages, while the XSS comes for a bit less than half of that. Maybe you're right, maybe we're asking for too much, but I guess my logic stands: we're millions and millions of users and maybe MS and developers should take that into account and put some extra effort into optimization.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Players Frustrated With 30FPS On Xbox Series S

OldgamerDave

Guys, I won't get into tech specific details here, because there are people who are way more qualified to do it, so I will bring another perspective. Many guys, myself included, have migrated from Sony to Microsoft this generation, trusting that there's a place for people like us, who CANNOT afford a top tier console, but still want to keep gaming on this generation. And, we've been treated with great titles running at 60fps, so we got excited and wanting for more. Now, 30fps is back and is here to stay, judging by recent titles like DL2 and CP2077...And it's just frustrating not even having an OPTION to choose modes. What I mean is: if MS doesn't start putting the pressure on these developers to optimize their games on XSS, we'll simply go back from where we came. Again, even though it's hard to pay for a PS5, if they start alienating us, that's where some of us are going to.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Is Showing Up As 'Optimised For Xbox Series X|S'

OldgamerDave

Man, imagine if their big announcement involves paid DLCs before their next-gen upgrades...nah, even better, imagine they decide to throw a Sony and charge something like $10 bucks for their so-called upgraded new versions. I'm sorry I sound bitter, but at this point that's all CDPR will get out from me. To put it into perspective, as a Brazilian, my disappointment with the way CP2077 released is compatible with my frustration with the legendary 7X1 versus Germany. Yup, I'm still mad about both!

Re: Xbox Gaming Revenue Up 8% YoY In Latest Earnings Report

OldgamerDave

@PhileasFragg Yes, friend, these are interesting times for MS. Like I said, many of us have, realistically, 2 options from a financial perspective: play older stuff, or get on board with XBSS. I'm not a fanboy in any shape or form - if I could, I'd be gaming in all platforms - but, right now, I'm "grateful" (yup, I know they're all companies solely interested in our cash) for what what MS has been doing this gen.

Re: Xbox Gaming Revenue Up 8% YoY In Latest Earnings Report

OldgamerDave

That's only natural: if Microsoft keeps up their momentum with pro-consumer strategies, they'll rule key markets soon.
Here in Brazil, for instance, we have to make our decisions primarily based on prices. So first, the Switch (standard) costs R$2500, but first-party games are R$300. The PS4 costs R$2800, its games are easily findable in second hand markets, but it's a last-gen console who many have already played the good stuff. Finally, we've got XSX and PS5 - never less than R$5500, so, no way for the common folk (our minimum wage is R$1200, something around $230).
Now, back to my initial topic: the XSS hits R$2500, with GPU subscription at R$45/ month. It's just a no-brainer. Most of my fellows are going back to Microsoft, sometimes simply because you cannot deny the value MS offers in markets such as ours.
In short: there's no cheaper way to play this gen of games in places such as BR, India, Indonesia and so many others. So, either Sony and Nintendo develop strategies and interesting value to attract us, or they've already lost this generation.
