Alright, so we've had a couple of days to process the news, and it's now beginning to sink in. We're not going to be playing Bethesda's Starfield or Redfall this year. It's a shame, but it is what it is.
Now, all we know is that both of them are scheduled to launch at some point in the first half of 2023. Fingers crossed we're not going to see any more delays to either title, but as we've seen before, it's always a possibility.
So, for the purposes of this article, we've put together a couple of polls below for you to give your predictions on when you think Starfield and Redfall might finally release in 2023.
If you want to, you can vote for the second half of the year or even 2024 and beyond. Hey, it could happen...
What are your release date predictions for Starfield and Redfall? Tell us down below.

Redfall Feb and Starfield May based on zero experience and zero insider knowledge
Starfield will be first around April/May and I think Redfall will be around June just after their E3 showcase
I've been thinking about the marketing cycle for Deathloop and Ghostwire, and we basically saw snippets of gameplay for both in June of 2020. So the fact that we've seen nothing of Starfield and Redfall outside of reveals, really says to me these games could both be a year or more out.
Starfield 11-12-23 (it adds up so it's still clever)
Redfall September 2024
Redfall in October 2024 and Starfield in 2023 November. Its not going to be first half of 2023.
When is Easter? I'm sure they'll be aiming to get one out by then.
I'll answer my own question without even editing - 9th April.
I think, based on absolutely no knowledge whatsoever, that Redfall will be out before Starfield. In fact I think, again, based on no knowledge at all, that Starfield won’t arrive until quite late in the year.
I know a lot of ppl will disagree with this bit, I hope they do a shadow drop on next year's showcase for either game
They've probably both been given 6 months extra time.
So Redfall in Feb and Starfield in April/May.
@SplooshDmg well Bethesda usually shows the first gameplay a few months before release which I think is usually fine. Redfall is more concerning though since we seen nothing about that yet. Of course we will get something on the June showcase and based on that we can predict better I guess
@Lavalera Yeah, I honestly really didn't expect Starfield to be delayed due to what is the main studios typical marketing cycle. Show it at E3 then release in the fall/winter, but now that we're looking at probably whatever we're calling E3 now, then launch sometime later, it just beats me. A lot just isn't adding up to me now. Even with Halo Infinite's rocky road, we were getting screenshots from the campaign, yet all they've really shared with Starfield is concept art. I get that XGS and Bethesda still operate as somewhat separate publishers and I'm not trying to be negative, I'm a Bethesda die hard. BGS is one of my favorite studios in existence, but stuff just doesn't smell right to me at the moment. My take away from the Deathloop and Ghostwire marketing is that they were both officially delayed once and then both released in good shape, so hopefully this is just that again. I'm sure we'll see them both next month, I'd surely hope so anyway.
I think Redfall will be March and Starfield will be June or 2nd half of 2023. From what we know about Redfall so far, it sounds like a live service game so it wouldn't be wise to launch it close to a Halo Infinite season. Unless the 6 month seasons continue after season 2, the seasons will be in early February, early May, early August and early November hence why I'm predicting March for Redfall.
As for Starfield, it feels like the kind of release that'll get 1 final pre-launch promotion push at Summer Game Fest and/or E3 2023. Also that way Starfield would avoid being buried by BotW 2 (I think BotW 2 will be March 2023 coinciding with new hardware around Switch's 6th anniversary).
@SplooshDmg there was a ex Bethesda developer, he worked on Starfield and actually talked about the game. He said the new engine they were using for the game was terrible. The graphics weren't great, the flying mechanism was horrible and shooting wasn't fun. I think the game has been overhyped by Bethesda and the community and only now do they realise that it's not good as promised hence the sudden delay. Also there's no way its coming out in the first half of 2023. I think it'll release at the end of next year.
If you remember a few days back there was a image shared by Xbox on social media where Phil Spencer went to the studio to see the demos. I think something happened during that visit. I this visit is the key, the other xbox executives probably looked at the game and thought something bad.
@Chaudy Eh, I mean, there's a lot of hearsay on the internet. Creation Engine is terrible, but it's also wonderful in it's own weird janky ways. Bethesda has never been famous for mind boggling graphics, and honestly, I'm not really looking for those in a BGS game. I Also, when has combat ever been fun in a Bethesda game? It's one of the few studios that even considers that maybe they're still making RPGs and not action games with watered down redundant role playing elements. I just spam the right shoulder button and whack crabs to death, then convince a guy to blow up the village next door. Bethesda isn't for everyone, but Bethesda is for me. I think the game will be great when it gets here, I'm just treading into really uncertain of when it's actually going to get here.
Lol it’s funny to see that most of us aren’t buying the “first half of 2023” for neither of those games, honestly I expect Redfall for September 2023 and Starfield on November, and I think I’m being optimistic.
No idea because until we actually see some game-play from both, some indication as to how far off they are, its very difficult to predict how much work they may need. For example, Starfield may well of been on track to launch in November but perhaps would be 'tight' and potentially risk being rushed in the last couple of months resulting in 'issues'. Therefore, remove that 'pressure' to 'crunch' leading to potential mistakes and of course additional stress and dissatisfaction amongst the staff. Therefore, it could release a Couple of months later.
Alternatively, it could be more like Fallout 76 was at launch and whilst that may of been 'good enough' for Zenimax Media to release, its not good enough and they want to spend 'months' on making sure they don't repeat that mistake again...
Same goes with Redfall too - but I don't really care exactly WHEN they release, I'm happy to know they will be coming in the future - something to 'look forward to', happier knowing that MS is willing to delay to ensure they are 'ready' to release when they do and have plenty of games coming in between to enjoy regardless. Yes its 'mildly' disappointing that the 'wait' is now a bit longer, but that was instantly overcome by knowing that the game is not being rushed out to meet that deadline when it clearly needed more time!!
Starfield May 25th & Redfall July 8th
If I had to choose the one I'm more confident in coming true it's the Starfield release date.
Starfield : August
Redfall : May 26th or June 26th.
or they release starfield the day after e3 2023 😆
I expect starfield nov 23. Redfall summer. Let’s pray Xbox has some releases in between!
When they're done.
Jeez, a lot of you guys are expecting these games to be really far off.
@Sakai Don’t sell yourself short. You have as much knowledge as most of these so called insiders.
Mid December. Coop won't be added until the following October. Fox ears will be $100 day 1.
I'm still expecting Redfall to be canceled.
Starfield is anyone's guess I'm expecting holiday next year though.
@NEStalgia Will Todd patch out all the fun bugs and leave behind all of the actual game breaking bugs? Or will he just stay the course and fix none of them, like usual?
@SplooshDmg If it's a real Toddy Award winning game, the remaster/anniversary will include all the original bugs again, anyway
What we do know for sure is that there will be at least a dozen races and over 200 NPCs. Both voice actors confirmed this.
Maybe the release dates don't matter as much for them financially if they are day one gamepass games. If millions of people are expected to play them through gamepass then the profits would be completely different. Also Starfield is probably going to give gamepass a big boost. It's like how Nintendo treat Zelda, I buy Nintendo consoles just for Zelda. Zelda creates the reason for the Nintendo consoles to even exist.
If smart will announce date no sooner than 6 months after guaranteed to go gold.
Unscientifically, I would guess that Starfield needs another 6 months, so I'd say may. Assumably, Redfall is almost certainly finished and in need of polish, so I'd think January or so. They'll want to give it it's own time window AWAY from Starfields release. But who knows?
They will totally push starfield to holiday 2023. That’s a system seller.
Starfield will be a launch title for the next generation (or maybe the generation after that!).
Redfall will take a stake to the heart and be cancelled...
dont release in march as march it will get packed as everyone else crams there games in to the end of the financial year.
wait till may as its usually pretty clear release schedule

@MiGke that wasn't my first comment though, that was my second comment which was aimed at the people moaning and bashing sony in which some of them were obviously xbox trolls.
@UltimateOtaku91 so i wasn't a troll after all, the others were, of course whatever you wan't, i won't be adressing to you anymore, continue with your propaganda. Be well.
As an Xbox fan (the only console I've got is an XSS), all I can say about those release dates is: Redfall - who knows; Starfield- before 2025 (maybe).
Yup, I am THAT disappointed. I hope they deliver us quality content on the June event thing. But if not, well... (man I hate feeling bitter about my platform of choice!)
