Re: Redfall Dev Says The Team Is 'Continuing To Improve' The Xbox Title

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz Bro, Ghostwire is a perfect to me - tokusatsu, anime and the Japanese culture are pretty popular in Brazil, considering the big presence of Japanese colonies scattered in most big capitals - so, I grew up fascinated by all things oriental!
Not only this immersion in modern day Tokyo, but also, the deep folklore and vibrant color palette...this game is "chef kiss" to me.
I haven't finished it yet, but my initial impressions are great. And one more time, in my opinion, games...well, most products and services are NOT made for everyone, but for specific, target audiences- and in this case, lovers of the nipponic culture will feel right at home.

Re: Redfall Dev Says The Team Is 'Continuing To Improve' The Xbox Title

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz Man, I've been busy with my family/ jobs (plural)! But I'm still around! Bro, what a coincidence: I'm playing and having a blast with Ghostwire! In fact, I've barely got time for gaming, so I guess when I play something, I try to have as much fun as I can get, with flaws and all. Anyway, talk to you soon, mate!

Re: Redfall Dev Says The Team Is 'Continuing To Improve' The Xbox Title

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz Hey, man! We talked about this one a couple of months ago. Some fellows like us were hyped for Redfall. I downloaded it and gave it a shot last night, and I've gotta say: I'm enjoying it for what it is on my Series S too!
Definitely the game has got its flaws, but I was waiting for some mindless vampire slaying, and that's what I've got.
I don't know, mate, but recently I've taken a different stance on games and films: I judge them for what they ARE, and not for what they "SHOULD" be.
It's either that, or my age has lowered my standards! Sometimes I think people are just hard to please.
But, to each their own (I guess that's the saying - I'm not a native English speaker)!

@GodofCapcom Man, before I go back to work, I need to say that your nickname and avatar are just the best, because they took me back to the 90's, when I first finished what Street Fighter II that I had at hand: a bootleg copy for NES, probably from Chun-li's land! Bro, not only that, but if you jumped, paused the game and pressed any random button, your opponent would be immediately KOed.
Good times. Sorry for the rambling!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 15-16)

OldgamerDave

@Link41x Gotta say, my friend: your effort to beat games on the Vita is one that I can relate to, but Windows phone is really both parts cool and a mad quest!
Nothing modern? Aren't you into newer stuff, or just a vintage gamer?
That said, I've played Soul Sacrifice Delta on the Vita some time ago and it still holds up pretty well!
Happy gaming, mate!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 11-12)

Where are the fighting fans?! Guys, Guilty Gear is pure art and solid mechanics. I've been playing it on GP, but I'll definitely pick it up (DLCs and all), as soon as I've got the funds for that.
On a side note, I've bounced away from Atomic Heart: I was simply having no fun with it, as hard as I tried to...Has it ever happened to you, guys? I mean, being hyped and then, after some hours with a game, you simply stopped caring?

Re: Arkane's Redfall Releases This May On Xbox Game Pass

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz At your service, brother! It's nothing. I've seen some of your comments, and you seem a pretty cool guy!
Hey, I'm busy during weekdays, but I'm playing MH Rise, especially during weekends. Add me up as a friend on Xbox Live, man: OldgamerDM - it will be useful when we get to hunt vampire fools in May too.
By the way, there are some decent fellows here, and I'm reasonably new around, so I haven't seen where their gamertags are. Is there a place to share this, or invite people for some gameplay?

Re: Arkane's Redfall Releases This May On Xbox Game Pass

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz Bro, about Deathloop, let me share a few thoughts that may increase your fun:

  • Don't feel discouraged by dying- even if it feels like you're facing impossible odds - you'll get there; you've got this.
  • The plot will get more and more enjoyable and clear, as you progress.
  • If you're feeling frustrated, don't force yourself another go during the same session- maybe alternate it with a simpler game to compensate that.
  • You can change difficulty and even increase the maximum number of deaths per day, taking the pressure of your back, if you feel like just enjoying things in your own pace.
Sorry for the long reply, but I really enjoyed the game, so if I can help you find some good entertainment with it, I'll be glad, friend.

Re: Arkane's Redfall Releases This May On Xbox Game Pass

OldgamerDave

@Kaloudz Man, after watching the video more carefully now, I'm even more into it, especially because they've said that everything has been hand-crafted - I've been getting tired of the procedurally-generated trend.
Also, speculation time: do you think this world is the same one from Dishonored and Deathloop, perhaps the future?

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Monster Hunter Rise So Far?

OldgamerDave

One of my best gaming memories is from MHW, when I finished the story solo: it felt really great to kill the final boss all by myself - wife and kid sleeping, I was all alone, way past the reasonable bedtime.
Now, I've already spent some 10ish hours with Rise, and I'm feeling it will be just as epic!
Add me up, guys: OldgamerDM. We may go hunting together sometime soon!

Re: Former Halo Developer Blames 'Incompetent Leadership' For Layoffs At 343 Industries

OldgamerDave

@somnambulance Man, you've said it all! I've never been into the backstage of the industry, I was just an average guy who was into gaming. And while I've been quite satisfied with Gamepass, I always felt something was a bit "off" with Microsoft, since the end of the Xbox One era (I got one late, by 2019, I guess).
Now, in 2023, after owning a Series S for a yearvand a half and after been around this website for some time, I realize how unacceptable the situation is: MS's gaming division is a multi-billion operation, and still, they can't show consistent, original, quality content?
I wonder what they're lacking...talent, motivation, leadership, or a sum of all those?
Or perhaps they're satisfied with the 3rd place and that's it?
Regardless, I'll still support MS for a bit more, but honestly, if the PS5 wasn't so damn expensive here in Brazil, I guess I would've already pulled the trigger.
Well, 2023 is supposed to be THE year for Xbox, right?

Re: Xbox Exec Confirms Overall Length Of January's 'Developer_Direct'

OldgamerDave

@themightyant Arkane games are more of an acquired taste: at first, I didn't like Dishonored 1, on the Xbox 360, then, I tried it again on my Series S, and I've even finished without killing guys, ninja style! The same goes for Deathloop, which I initially dropped, then, after some days, I returned and played it exclusively, for weeks.
However, I've never played Prey... would you recommend it?
And yeah, I share your opinion: Redfall will be day 1 on GP, so, it's a win in my book too.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Series X|S Bring You Back To Xbox? If So, How Come?

OldgamerDave

I'm a working-class, middle-aged man (30's), proud dad of 2 young kids and tough Brazilian guy. That's my short resumé. That said, the Series S is not the best choice, but the ONLY viable one, from a financial and practical perspective for my lifestyle. In other words, in order to get a PS5/ XSX, I'd have to fork almost a month of hard-earned cash; as for the XSS, I got it for almost a third of the price at a local retail store. I must say it: I couldn't be happier with my little white toaster! I'm a single-player/ off-line only gamer, and Gamepass has got my back. I'm really grateful that gaming this gen has been made more accessible to more people, mainly due to Microsoft's entry-level strategy.

Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give TMNT: Shredder's Revenge So Far?

OldgamerDave

Guys, it's been at the same time a joyride and a trip down the memory lane. Let me share it with you: growing up poor, in a country where videogames are a luxury, I can remember going to arcades just to WATCH guys play; eventually, when I got a coin, it'd be over so quickly that I'd go back home bummed, to say the least. Now, to be able to finally PLAY it, as one of the guys, is honestly awesome. Have you people ever experienced this in gaming? It feels sweet!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 28-29)

OldgamerDave

I've been playing Sniper Elite 4, and as a first timer in the series, I really recommend it for stealth/action fans. It gives me Dishonored vibes: I always have a plan, which inevitably fails, and then it's just some mad killing fools' time!
I'm taking my time, so when I get to SE5 it will have been updated quite a few times, as games usually get released in rough shape these days.
