Re: Digital Foundry Explores Why Some Games 'Run Better' On PS5 Than Xbox Series X

Moby

There is also the backwards compatibility support. My understanding is the system take a small hit as part of supporting older titles, whereas PS does not.

As a user who has both consoles, I often find cross console games look slightly better on my xbox. Weirdly back when Stadia was a thing, loading it thru the console browser was better than direct thru my TV. There are a few exceptions but overall I stick to XSX not only for better controllers but slightly better graphics.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Feel About The Future Of The Brand In 2024?

Moby

@Mustoe very true. 😂 Both Sony and MS, at the end of the day, really only care about their bottom lines. Currently, MS is making moves to improve its standing that happens to benefit gamers more. "Fanboys" need to realize neither company cares about gamers.

OT: Many seem to have forgotten Sony was originally planning to release the PS4 with most of the same restrictions planned for the XOne. Sony's sudden about face destroyed MS's marker share. MS's arrogance and tone-deaf approach almost destroyed the XBox completely.

Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In June 2024?

Moby

I played Callisto Protocol when it first came out and the game was so ridiculously hard in areas I walked way from it. I tried again on GP and was pleasantly surprised to see they had made significant changes to the game play and fight mechanics to make it more playable. I even switched to a harder mode mid game. It gave a solid challenge while leaving enough room for you to complete the game. I even sprung for the DLC on sale and thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Feel About The Future Of The Brand In 2024?

Moby

The comments did not disappoint as usual. 😂

After the disastrous XOne release, MS needed to right the ship. They've done so and then some. While there is an inherent need to continue making consoles, they don't care if you're not buying the next gen Xbox hardware. They end up making more money if you don't, so tying their success to the outdated idea of console sales is completely missing the big picture. Gaming is fast moving past consoles and MS is already way ahead of Sony in that area. (Don't get me wrong we need Sony and MS battling it out for the competitive edge, which benefits gamers.)

MS making deals for cross.play is just another ploy to remove any edge Sony holds. And if they bring a native handheld to the market, it will be yet another huge boon to their bottom line. (The current Sony "handheld" is an absolute joke.)

MS is playing the field to line up their strengths and cement their hold on the gaming market.

Re: Xbox Patent Reveals What 'Keystone' Streaming Device Might Have Looked Like

Moby

Broadband availability I think is a real hindrance. But a stream-only console is likely to happen with the next gen. They'll need to add your personal library as well as GP though. Seems from previous articles they are already working on the latter. MS can offer bundles with GP to reduce up front costs. Many gamers can afford a slightly higher monthly fee vs a large upfront cost. It's a big sell to immediate game play.

One of the best benefits of streaming IMO is no wait time for download and installs. You can just play, especially if you aren't sure you really want to play a game.

Streaming is the future. Nvidia is definitely making strides. Their GForce app is pretty solid. MS is still playing catch up on the quality of streaming.

Re: Former Redfall Studio Head Already Looking Forward To What's Next

Moby

It became the *it" thing to sh*tcan this game when it came out. For all its flaws it was still a solid game. Many games have come out in the past with worse flaws for sure. For many it was the cost in the beginning for a below par release. It was obviously an XOne game brought forward to XSX. However, the dev kept at it.

I played it early on GP and again after the 60 fps update. I enjoyed the game. I didn't care for the graphics style but it was a mild annoyance. I played again on hard mode and found it a good challenge. I haven't played since they released the last patch, but I'd say it's worth a play on sale or thru GP.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

Moby

The S isn't the problem. Multiple devs have already come out stating modding for the S is not a problem... provided you actually plan to do so. If you don't build knowing the game will need to run on a less powerful version of the X console, then of course it's going to cause delays. Sony didn't offer a low end version so many devs design for the X and PS5 without considering the S. That's a developer issue not a MS issue.

A broader argument could be had over the need for an S console, but considering its popularity, it is unlikely MS will get rid of it. IMO for the next gen, MS should make one version but offer the subsidized console via a GP commitment or additional monthly fee. This would still offer broad appeal and do away with the extra work for devs.

Re: Xbox's 'Slimy Platform Things' Comment Draws Attention Of Former PlayStation Boss

Moby

MS isn't magnanimous, just look at the XOne release disaster. Granted not under Phil but it almost destroyed the brand completely. MS is still recovering from that disaster.

I'm glad MS is making more games available cross platform but I'm not understanding any illusions they wouldn't f**k us over in a heartbeat.

Strong competition keeps them both honest, so to speak. MS fortunately sees the writing the wall and is moving away from exclusives.

Re: Report: Xbox Is Working On A Halo Remaster, Also 'Considering' PS5 Release

Moby

Lol Comments don't disappoint as usual.

For the people in the back, MS doesn't care if you buy a PS5 or the next one to play MS games. They make more money off of you if you DON'T buy the console first. Lol Your threats to not buy the next Xbox isn't hurting anyone but you.

I'm happy to see more games going to PS. The fewer exclusives the better. More players playing is good for gamers and MS (and the developers for non MS titles)

Re: Destiny 2: The Final Shape Servers Collapse Under Increased Traffic

Moby

I logged in late afternoon yesterday and it was fine so they must of got on it quick. Been disappointed as of late with D2 and the "seasons", but it's been a wild ride since the beta. Glad to see they made some changes and I'm vested to the end of the story arc at least. Lol

No regrets overall. However, D3 would have to be fundamentally different to current state of D2 for me to even consider playing it.

Re: Report: Call Of Duty 2024 Will Launch Day One On Xbox Game Pass

Moby

Where did all the "sky is falling" folks go today? Lol.

MS doing exactly what they said they said that would do. For Xbox, it's on GP day one. For everyone else it's buy the game as usual. It now has a broader player base and xbox players get another reason the GP subscription is more than worth it.

Sounds like a solid plan.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Planning To Bring More Games To PS5, Despite Some 'Unease' At Microsoft

Moby

Came for the "world is ending comments"...not disappointed. 😂

The sky is not falling and MS gaming isn't dying. THEY MAKE MORE MONEY IF YOU DON'T BUY A CONSOLE. Even though they've already committed to making consoles and are working on their own portable, consoles are sold at a loss. How dense do you have to be to not get it?

I'm eager for more devs to jump on the cross platform bandwagon so exclusives can die off! Worst idea for gamers ever. MS is making it easier for more people to play their games (aka buy their games) and y'all are losing your minds. That's like winning the lotto and then refusing to collect because they only offer it 100 dollar bills. 😂

Re: Xbox Reiterates Every First Party Title Is Coming To Game Pass 'Day One'

Moby

Being someone who only plays campaigns on CoD, being in GP is a win for me. The few CoD games I own I waited to buy at hella reduced prices. I like GP specifically because I'm not stuck with a game if it sucks, but I still get to try it out. Considering the price of games are going up, a price hike on GP would still be worth it.

Re: Xbox Is Reportedly 'Considering' Hellblade 2 For PlayStation 5

Moby

Came for the usual "the world is ending "comments, not disappointed! 😂 For all these folks screaming about abandoning Xbox consoles, you know MS makes more money if you don't buy the console right? You're tantrum isn't hurting anyone.

@Phil-Spencer-Gate I tend to agree with you except I believe MS will continue to push out consoles as long as they are relevant. They've committed to the next generation already and it's debatable if there will be one after that. Plus, they could continue to offer a "free console" with a GP subscription and/or a GP with a slight higher monthly fee.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Considering Game Pass Price Hike To Accommodate Call Of Duty

Moby

The hysterics of it all! First, when in the history of acquisitions/mergers has a new larger company not done layoffs? ....Never. And I fully expect more before it's over.

Two, I certainly don't want GP to go up but it's massive now compared to 4 years ago. Even multiple articles here have alluded to eventual price hikes. It is inevitable. The value still far outweighs the monthly cost. If you disagree you're delusional.

That said, I wonder if they've factored in how many more players would subscribe to GP to gain access to the new CoD? I only play campaigns so I'm probably not a statistic they care about, but it seems like it might be putting the horse before the cart right now. Of course these are conversations not actual announcements.

Re: Microsoft CEO Comments On Xbox's New PlayStation Store Success

Moby

Lol "Oh no MS is making more games available to more players. How could they?!" Grow up already.

The death of exclusives can't happen soon enough IMO. Sony will hold on to its exclusives for dear life because it's all they have now. Why do you think they fought the ABK merger so hard.

Re: Poll: How Are You Getting On With Evil West On Xbox Game Pass?

Moby

I'm surprised it didn't get more hate like Redfall. Visually, the graphics were a bit dated,, but the game overall was fun. Most of the baddies required only tenacity to kill vs any real skill. However, the last boss was a b*itch! 😂

It did seem a bit short but overall a solid GP addition. I never got bored. I probably would recommend waiting for a sale price if you plan to purchase.

Re: Phil Spencer On Porting Exclusives: 'Every Decision We Make Is To Make Xbox Stronger'

Moby

@GrandValkyrie how are you harmed if a game is available on Xbox and PS? Sony didn't want cross play either but got dragged into it because yMS supported it. Then the devs and players hounded them until they relented. I'd say that's a win for all.

Why do you care about Sony as a "loyal Xbox fan"? Even if no other third party dev made games for Xbox moving forward, MS has a large enough studio base to continue making a plethora of games for decades.

So how exactly are you screwed?

Re: Phil Spencer On Porting Exclusives: 'Every Decision We Make Is To Make Xbox Stronger'

Moby

Gamers: We hate exclusives, why can't we play with our friends on other consoles? Why can't we play on portables?
Microsoft: Were making more games available elsewhere, even some of our exclusives....
Gamers: How could you do that to us, we've been so loyal?

Lol The hysterics here are truly laughable. If leaving Xbox because they want to make it easier for gamers to play together (while they make money, no one doubts that), then you were never loyal. You were selfish. MS was the first to support cross play btw. Sony only supports it begrudgingly and would still love not to.

If you don't buy an Xbox console but end up subscribing to GP somewhere else, MS still wins and makes more money than if you had bought the console. You get access to more games, regardless of hardware. How is that bad?

Does anyone think it's coincidence they finally confirmed they are also working on a portable? MS sees the future and it's not console sales, even though they plan to continue building consoles. GP is currently quadruple the size of PSN and now MS has the merger behind them, they have even more games coming to GP. It's all good IMO.
