gasp say it ain't so! 😂. As an avid GP player I actually end up buying and playing more games than I would have otherwise.
I never buy CoD new as I only play campaign. At least in GP I can play sooner. While MS typically keeps most of their active IP on GP, not all games stay indefinitely. I tend to bounce around on games and more than a few times I've come back to a game and it left GP so I buy it on sale.
I'm excited for an Xbox portable. While I can play GP on the Steam Deck, I want to be able to play my library and GP. While MS has started streaming your library, it's too few games and there is no guarantee all games would get included.
MS can really be a bear with hardware, but they've made some good strides with the Surface. I'm hopeful they can push out a serious competitor to the Deck.
@CaptainCluck Google's propensity to abandon projects doesn't mean streaming isn't the future. MS realizes that. Sony does too but their fighting to hold onto their cash cow of exclusives as long as they can.
It should be obvious to all but the most obtuse now that it's not. Stadia showed MS the future and they paid attention. MS is evolving the platform to make money. That agenda currently benefits players. More games on more platforms means more players aka more money. I honestly don't understand how people can't see this.
MS isn't a fanboy doing this to be magnanimous. They are doing it to make money. They got greedy during the XOne release and got burned. Now they found a better way to make money and gain player base. It's currently a win win as long as they continue to have competition.
To all the folks whining about being betrayed, bye and shut up already. Go to PS and then pay full price for all the games owned by MS. MS makes more money off you anyway. However, don't be surprised when more Sony Devs also go cross platform. It's economics.
MS is doing what it needs to expand the brand beyond console. They realize they lost that market at the same time they realized said market would soon be irrelevant. They don't need to chase a dying metric. The cost is too high to appeal beyond the serious gamer. As portables and streaming gain traction, consoles will be last in priority. We might end up with a smaller niche market but the majority will move to streaming.
You gotta love folks who come here to sh*t on other people's enjoyment of a game. Get over it, the game is popular whether you like it or not. 😂
@Weebleman you nailed one of the fun points for sure. I'm always tickled when a convenient ladder or bridge appears after connecting a porter. It's completely different from anything I've played before. Occasionally, it can be a bit grindish, but still part of the fun.
I played this a couple times on pS5 and totally missed several non-story critical porters! It's been a blast replaying focusing on achievements. I've discovered whole sections of the game I missed.
@gollumb82 you can connect your steam account to the GeoForce app. The caveat is the game has to be available on GeoForce as well. Any game not supporting by Nvidia wouldn't stream, but their catalog is pretty large and growing daily.
If you think traditional consoles aren't slowly dying your living in a dream world. Well be lucky to see 2 more generations of consoles. We could extend that with hybrid portable systems. You might end up with a niche market for consoles for the absolute die-hards but that won't be the driving force of the market.
Expect mobile to become a larger part of the brand as well. (I'm not thrilled about that personally as most of the mobile market is crap)
"Access" to gaming will be a priority over consoles. As they push out having GP AND your own library available to stream, it will only decrease the demand for console. I can currently access my GP library on steam decks and other portables, Nvidia's GeoForce service, a variety of direct stream TVs, and via browser/computer. You're delusional if you think consoles will be a priority in the future or even necessary.
But....they already confirmed the next gen console is in development so y'all can calm down for now. 😂
I totally missed the Ludens Fan porter when I played thru on the PS5! It's on the first map if anyone else missed it. Up on the cliff just below the Mule base.
Truly one of my favorite games and glad to finally have It on Xbox. Replaying it and trying to hammer the achievements this time. A couple tips. Set performance mode to Quality and be sure it's set to widescreen. The latter makes a huge difference. PS. Don't miss the Luden Fan mission in the first map!!
For those who've never played, it gets sh*t on because the cut scenes can be long, especially in the beginning.
I love QR. Only issue I've ever had is with always online games. That isn't MS fault though. Some games don't lend themselves to QR because of game state settings.
Not surprising at all. MS will continue to make consoles at least for the next gen, but we are likely to see traditional consoles morph into hybrid portables before eventually becoming obsolete.
MS is playing the long game and laying their infrastructure for the future. I can already play GP in so many different places, I barely need a portable most days when traveling. As they add game library to streaming this will escalate the irrelevance of a home consoles.
@TheSimulator you're not paying attention. They won't need a console because they'll basically be able to stream from anywhere; hence, their gaming everywhere push. We're likely to end up with hybrid portable/consoles, but stand along consoles are quickly moved by to obsolescence.
Gaming everywhere is an excellent strategy considering stand alone consoles will be obsolete in 1 or 2 generations. MS is playing the long game.
Fans "leaving" because MS isn't focused on exclusives or consoles anymore will end up making MS more money by buying games to play on other platforms. It's a win-win.
The hitman games were fun but the 3rd one just seemed to be pandering. I appreciate they including 1 & 2 with 3 though. That was a solid benefit to players.
My biggest concern is this new game will just hitman with different names/skins.
Yeah be nice to have just one app. Seemed silly to have two apps. I think originally they were kept separate as they were managed by tie different teams internally. /rumor
Sony isn't even pretending anymore. ita just a pure money grab. I guess since they lost CoD this was their solution to recoup some of that lost revenue.
I bought the Pro versions of the XOne and the PS4 and the differences were minimal. Most games "optimized" for the Pro versions had tiny differences. Was hoping they wouldn't even bother this time.
I have an XSX and PS5, I'm definitely not buying the Pro especially for that ridiculous price. I wouldn't buy an Xbox Pro either.
It's good to take some serious changes to win me back. The constant reuse of content as "new" every season is fraud IMO. Beyond that, at least they are openly admitting the game is just tired now. I doubt they'll ever regain the player base.
Rockstar proving they continue to lower the bar out of greed. A small give back on royalties would have been a win win. More musicians should offer the same statement
His statement seems silly. You don't get assururances in M&A unless it's in writing as part of the contract. Buying a company for their IP and then closing or selling it off in pieces is pretty common. They also got gobbled up right next to the ABK acquisition.
That is not to say it was the best thing to do from a PR point or view. We all know MS has a terrible time with PR and optics, even on good decisions.
As for the previous owner, if you sell your company you don't really get to complain about what happens to it in the future.
I just finished the final Galaxy jump. So excited to see the team bringing so much love to this game. I'm still finding things to do all these years later.
We could only hope other devs pay attention and go back to really caring about their games.
Or...or they could stop trying to monetize every aspect of gaming and focus on quality over loot and in-game transactions. I know it will never happen but the shareholder affect is destroying gaming. Not every game needs to an online multiplayer.
I generally think MS is doing things right, but this is an area where they continually drop the ball. The PR arm for MS has always been a lumbering beast slow to respond or even get ahead of potential problems. The indie program has been riddled with problems for easily a couple years new and they've done little to get it on track. It may not be a high end profit area, but I'd argue the plethora of non AAA titles on GP adds to its value.
When people make assumptions about your products and you do nothing to put out the truth or fix issues, then that becomes the reality whether true or not. MS needs to get on this, regal of the value of the game(s).
@TheSimulator Did you really think that comment thru? Exclusives only give an edge when selling consoles. Consoles are dying. We'll be lucky to see 2 new generations before they are obsolete. Or we'll see consoles becoming hybrid portables like the Switch, Steam deck, etc.
The market is all but demanding that game makers make their games cross console to increase revenue. MS is capitalizing on it now.
The updated version of CP is a solid play. This seems.lke a prequel DLC released as a stand alone game. Maybe they want to avoid the original negative reviews?
First, everyone waa claiming MS was abandoning consoles. Now we have a next gen already in works and a possible portable.
Then everyone is complaining MS is opening up its IP to other platforms will ruin the franchise. MS releases expanded sales and increase player counts.
Wrong on two for two so far, but yeah Xbox is dying. 😂 🙄.
I'm living for the comments! 😂🤣😅 The hand-wringing fits are my fave.
MS is going to maximize its IP portfolio. Making it widely available is good for gamers and makes MS money. This idea that they need to keep all their IP as exclusives is stupid and outdated. Console sales are not what makes MS money, but it does help get gamers in the door. Just look at the Series S sales. Stop whining and go if your so selfish. Bye. MS will make more money off of you that way anyway.
Meanwhile, Im enjoying multiplayer games with a wider player base, game pass, and saving money.
I'd love to see all MS games cross play or available on other platforms. They'd earn a lifetime customer in me.
