Re: Microsoft Gaming CEO Congratulates Xbox's Game Awards Nominees

LoquaciousB

@DennisReynolds I don't think they can really include Diablo IV as an Xbox Game Studios title but it's the right thing for Phil to commend the studio for their work on the game.

That being said, there is a fairly common narrative, in certain circles, that Xbox is somehow to blame for Modern Warfare 3 being crap this year so I guess it should work both ways. I expect the people floating that narrative to move the goal posts and be the absolute hypocrites that they are though.

Re: Phil Spencer: We Will Think Of Nintendo & PlayStation Users As 'Part Of The Xbox Community'

LoquaciousB

@rustyduck No, that has never been Phil's mission. Microsoft were all but ready to throw in the towel and get out of the console sector after Don Mattrick nearly killed the Xbox with his idiocy. It was Phil that convinced them otherwise, it's taken him a decade so far to right the ship and he's almost there. So to say it's been his mission to get out of the console business from the start is an absolutely absurd statement.

Re: Alan Wake 2 Dev Explains Two Biggest Challenges Of Working With Xbox Series S

LoquaciousB

I've always thought the memory was the biggest issue with the Series S. When the specs were originally unveiled for the Series consoles, the small amount of memory they gave the S compared to the X boggled my mind. I just didn't get it. It could've done with another couple of gigabytes, at the very least. That being said, my Series S is in the back room as a backup console, just in case something goes wrong with my X. It's still a great wee console for the price though.

Re: Starfield: Digipick Guide - How To Pick Locks, Where To Find Digipicks

LoquaciousB

Lock picking confused the crap out of me early on. However, once I figured it out, it was brilliant.

Ranking up your security skill is definitely key, as when you get the blue highlights to show which layer a key is compatible with makes it a bit easier.

Use auto key for more difficult locks to give you an edge but, when you're at a higher security level, don't frivolously spend picks to dispose of unneeded keys, unless the puzzle is really pickling your brain.

Re: New Starfield Test Suggests It Could Run At 40-60FPS On Xbox Series X

LoquaciousB

@Kienda From what I understand, the game is primarily CPU-bound not GPU-bound, therefore lowering graphical fidelity will result in only minimal increases in performance and even then, only in areas where the GPU is being taxed. I'm no expert though and I'm only going by what I've watched and read online. I'd still appreciate it if they offered a 40fps or VRR mode though as those would surely make a bit of difference to those of us with compatible screens.

Re: The Xbox Series X Is 'At The End Of The Beginning', Says Phil Spencer

LoquaciousB

@Aimergamer I think you mean "some" or "a few" developers. Many more clearly have had no significant issues at all, which is evidenced by the fact they are actually releasing games that run fine on the Series S with feature parity. You can't just use the narrative from a few devs to try to prove a point and assume that all other devs agree just because they haven't said anything at all.

That being said, I think the biggest mistake they made with the S is too little RAM.

Re: 'Xbox Console Wraps' Are Launching This Year, Pre-Orders Available Now

LoquaciousB

@K1LLEGAL Yes, it is available in the UK. I clicked on the link and it took me to the UK store and I purchased the Starfield one for £44.99.

Edit: Just checked and it would appear they're now sold out as it says they're out of stock. I wonder if the scalpers scooped up many of them 🤔. Hopefully they'll become available again.

Re: Starfield Backstory Reveals What Happened Leading Up To 2330 A.D.

LoquaciousB

@rustyduck They absolutely should implement a performance mode as an option for those that would like to try it, IF it is even possible on current console hardware. However, there are plenty of games that have 60fps and 120fps options on Xbox. Much the sane as PlayStation, when developers implement higher frame rates, something else has to be cut back. Whilst this probably isn't too challenging to do with most games, I suspect it's a far more difficult thing to do with Starfield due to it's sheer size and scope. It'll be interesting to see what PC specs are required just to get this game to hit a stable/locked 60fps, as I think that'll be very telling.

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

LoquaciousB

@Kaloudz I'm in agreement with you. I don't understand the furore over the "ads". I would only consider them problematic if they were advertising crap, like we get littered all over websites on our browsers. It's just content promotion as far as I'm concerned and if I'm not interested, I just ignore it.

I think the new dash is far quicker than the previous iteration, which was painfully slow at times. I'm happy with it.

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

LoquaciousB

@KoldFire Given that it's a feature that existed around 12 to 15 years ago on Xbox 360, I'm sorry but, your position doesn't make any sense. It seems you're simply annoyed as they didn't give Sony any credit in their article. To call it negligence is ridiculous. Both Sony and Microsoft "borrow" ideas from one another and it's nothing new. Heaven forbid someone doesn't mention in their article, about the new Xbox dashboard, that this limited and pretty inconsequential feature already exists on your precious PS5. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

LoquaciousB

Anyone know how you actually enable the option to show the game art of the currently selected title as the background art? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Edit: Never mind. I had to force the new dashboard to default settings and it automatically started working.

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

LoquaciousB

@KoldFire Pretty sure the game art used to show full screen when you highlighted the game that was in your disc drive way back on the Xbox 360 NXE dashboard. Therefore, it's not a new thing that they've literally just stolen from PlayStation. Hell, if an idea is a good one anyway, why not implement it, just as Sony did when they launched PSN which many would argue was copying Xbox Live. 🤷🏻‍♂️
