FH6 is in Japan so should be left side of road and steering wheel on the right.

Just seemed the most together one out of them all.

I loved Horizon 2 but 4 is def the best so far.

I change my mind between Forza Horizon 2, 3 and 4 depending on which I played recently. I didn't enjoy 5 as much. If I had to pick - 4.

Each to their own but I cannot fathom why 4 is the favourite. The map is great but the campaign was bloody awful. There was no endpoint, with an endless amount of races amounting to largely nothing. At the same time every single piece of Avatar clothing you might want to buy were locked behind random wheel spins with only a few things being tied to the campaign. And to make matters worse every single European-looking guy had blonde hair. If you had black, brown or ginger hair you were out of luck. How many blonde men do you ever see in France, the UK or Norway?!

Each has their own plus points.

The first game still has the best festival setup and one of the best soundtracks in the history of gaming.

2 has the best weather and the lovely eternal summer vibes. The road trip was a nice idea and gave you a lot of endgame content.

3 had the most map variety. The biomes were nice.

4 has Mr. Whippy adverts.

5 has the best levels of personal customisation.

Here’s hoping 6 merges the best of all before it.

4. Don't really know what it is but I keep coming back to it. 5 looks and plays much better but I didn't really like the Mexico setting tbh.

4. No contest (imho). Loved street races in Edinburgh.

I loved the map in 4, but certain elements from the other titles were more well implemented in those games. I honestly didn’t like 5 much at all in comparison to the previous entries, despite it being the most technically impressive (at least until 6 launches). It’s still great, but something was missing. 6 could be the game where everything finally converges into racing perfection; the setting is unbeatable, the map should be awesome, the cars and tech should be the best they’ve ever been. Only way they drop the ball is if the progression structure is inferior in some way, but I don’t anticipate that.

I have to go with 4 just for the lovely representation of some very pretty parts of the UK. Gotta love tearing around in an old school Land Rover Defender across the English/Scottish countryside! Also loved the fantasy of owning a beautiful cottage on the coast.
France/Italy in 2 was lovely as was Australia in 3. I love the attention to detail of things like trees and other fauna.
I did like the Mexico map but I'm tiring of the festival nonsense at this point. I just want to free roam or race without the story stuff.

There's not enough for me to pick a favourite they are all basically the same game different location.
I do think they are great games but nothing stands out the games sort of just meld together in my mind.

Five might be my least fav

Forza Horizon 3 is still unmatched. Australia was a great map but the Hot Wheels expansion was truly special, makes the Hot Wheels in FH5 look void of creativity.

I can't talk about 1 because I missed that, but I love 3 and 4. I hope we'll be able to play 3 in 60fps on Helix. It's Play Anywhere but only the PC version runs at that frame rate. No offence, but I don't like 5 as much. As a half-Spaniard, the Mexican accent kind of confuses and distracts me too much. It reminds me also of Los Granados in Resident Evil 4 (2005). You know they sound hilarious if you are Spaniard.

I've only played 4 and 5. While I did enjoy 5 an awful lot, being a UK resident meant 4 just hit different. Plus the Lego and Fortune Island DLCs were way better than 5's DLCs.

I only played 4 and 5. Just checked my stats.

I played 4 for 37 hrs.

I played 5 for 485 hours.

There was something about 4, some kind of sweet spot. Not sure why, but it was comfortably my favourite.

@RadioHedgeFund acording to data, 86% of the poblation in Norway are norweggians. The vast majority are considered lapons, with the immigrant more prominent being polish. After that, there are other minorities which are somalies, kurds and turkish.

5, with 3 being a very close second

4 for me, even though 5 is my most-played.

I don't like how online works in 5. In 4, you're put into a server instance with up to 72 players in it and you can see the whole list of who was in there and where every player is on the map. In 5, they tried to "surface" players that were near to you so that the game feels more alive, but it really doesn't work in my experience. Often I'd drive around in the same place for ages and not see anyone. Sometimes people would randomly appear/disappear out of nowhere.

It was the same with the Forzathon Live vs. Horizon Arcade events. Often I'd just end up doing a HA event by myself, but there were always plays doing FL. I realise that the HA events are every 15 minutes instead of every hour for FL, but if the game is supposed to "surface" players who are congregated in the same area and interested in the same event, it just did not work.

I also preferred the map in FH4, cos while the one in FH5 is bigger, a lot of it is desert/scrubland. Also, while many would disagree, I liked the seasonal changes in FH4 more, even if it made it harder to do certain things in winter.

Ultimately though, I think both games are fantastic. Also, as I haven't played FH4 since FH5 came out, it's possible I'm looking at 4 with rose-tinted spectacles on. Either way, I'm super-hyped for FH6! I can't believe it's only a few days away!!

Played all of them, liked all about the same up until 4, but 5 was the weakest. The map was just uninspired.

The first one has to be the best game in the true sense of the word, because it nailed progression and it felt rewarding to win cars. It's also the one that capture the whole festival atmosphere the best. It's a shame the servers were taken down, because I loved to do the 1000 club challenges. I still fire it up from time to time to do some races

For me it is, and will always be, the first one. And i think I guess if i had to choose a second favorite it would be Horizon 4.

The first is the best and one I go back to a few times a year but I also liked what little I tried of...5 I think it was, a few years back.
I should probably buy it at some point and play through it.

The first one by a country mile. I even went back and replayed it recently just take sure it wasn’t just nostalgia. The others definitely had their wins—3 had my favorite environment and 4’s seasons were cool—but 1 was just the most fun to actually play.

Forza Horizon 6 is by far the best one I’ve played following today’s leak….. just kidding. But absolutely crazy that the whole game leaked already!

Honestly. My vote goes to PGR2 through 4.

I've only played 4 and 5 so I'd say 5 is my favorite. I live about 2 hours from Mexico so the settings were very familiar and the right lane driving was nice. I also discovered more songs I liked in 5.

Horizon 4 was actually my least favorite but maybe I need to revisit it. Horizon 3 is easily my pick. Australia was awesome to drive around and had the most diverse map imo. The progression also just felt great, too. But I love all the titles. There’s really no wrong pick.

@Oppyz666 I have zero issue with them having a diverse set of preset Avatars because the game is sold all across the world and appeals to all sorts of audiences. But all the western guys had blonde hair when very few western guys have blonde hair. No black, brown or redhead options at all.

@BleedingDreamer I feel the first one is the only one where everything came together. The setting, season, soundtrack, cheesy NPC opponents was and still is such a slam dunk first time around.

Each game since has improved on perhaps an individual element but none merged them so well as the first game.

@Grackler I actually think the UK map is utterly terrible, despite being from the UK myself. There is no way you’re driving up the M1 from the Cotswolds to Edinburgh in the space of 5 minutes. The collapsed nature of it all is utterly nonsensical.

A better idea would have been to confine the entire game to Cumbria, bordered by the Irish Sea on one side and the M6 on the other. Replace Edinburgh with Carlisle and you’re practically there.

All of them have been excellent, but if I had to pick, it’s between 3 & 4. Really can’t wait to play 6, I just hope the music has improved over 5. That was my main issue with it, barely any music I liked.

3 is the peak of the franchise.

4 had that 'local' setting which to me gave it the edge over 3 which I think was where the game-play peaked. 1 set up the Franchise and how it would differ from Motorsport, 2 built upon and refined what 1 did and 3 was where it peaked. 4 had the setting that I am most familiar with but by 5 I had outgrown the Game-play loop and the Festival structure in particular, wanting something different as it felt more like a reskin of what came before and fear FH6 will be just more of the same...

FH3 for me, as it was the best one for single player content. Even though more recent games have had SP races, they definitely leaned more heavily towards multiplayer races. I’m hoping FH6 will cater equally to both.

Forza H 3 , it seems more a get just stuck in kind of game, not keen on the character junk and clothes perks which are a waste of space .
Though i do like FH4 nearly as much overall due to being in the UK. Would have been my top choice if i could have raced around Piccadilly Circus and up the North Circular Road or down to Southend.

FH5 is just bland setting. it has no redeeming features.
I got FH5 with my Series X as a bundle, if i had purchased it separately i would have been gutted.

The main problem with FH is each iteration should have been more centric to the region it was set in.
I really wanted more older British cars included in FH4.
FH3 probably dint have nearly enough of Australians cars as so many different versions of cars where sold in the region from Ford and GM

I hope Japanese Forza has a better car line up , but i assume it will be the same ole stuff. Not sure if i will jump in straight away yet

I'm from UK so 4 was obviously my fav. 5 was just too much desert. Endlessly driving across empty spaces was not fun at all.

Neither. Have FH1 (got recently along with TDU1, Shift 1 & 2 360 as PS3 1.2 patch is eh for loading some tracks so progression isn't great, other games/genres 360 pickups).

FH2 (360 months ago, still have, wasn't impressed), FH3 & that's it (played bit of drift event, eh).

Haven't played much. Locations don't interest me, progression/events (very bad these days in racing genre so unimpressed with them, gameplay is just boring) & handling does.

Not played The Crew. TDU2 was 'fine' TDU1 looks fair.

But, tried Horizon 1 years ago, didn't think much of it, tried 2 for 360 for a few hours (as in like few months ago), didn't do much for me (no the Xbox One version won't change my mind) and tried 3 for a bit and eh.

It's just the series doesn't do anything for me. If this is the 'best' of open world racing games I'm not seeing it, like at all. I haven't played much of the NFS 2012+ era (bought up copies for PS4/Xbox One) but even then I haven't found them that great either.

The circuit/menu ones are great (for what they are of content, handling, eh drifting in Shift 2 but good in Shift 1 and other racing games with fun modes/events or fair handling and presentation) Even NFS 2 for PS1 was more fun then modern games and it's limited compared to 'modern expectations' of games. Even Nitro/Hot Pursuit 2010 on Wii/DS were more fun. The Run was more fun.

The open worlds I don't have much to say other then Undercover or Carbon so far and both were fair.

Undercover had it's annoyances, not because of lacking content my expectations were set clear what it adds, but even MW20005 hasn't wowed me but I also don't have a working copy either my PS2 Black Edition one wouldn't play a single event, gets to the menu and nothing is playable so that's fun. $35 to save if it didn't work. Could emu but not interested enough.

The only open worlds that have been decent are NFS Carbon or Burnout Paradise (annoying to navigate the city but it is Burnout in an open world and does the job and the events are actually GOOD, something modern ones aren't and don't even come close to Burnout's with ideas in mind, modern ones are the most safest events, Burnout Paradise feels like playing Onrush compared to MotoStorm how I felt about it in a good way, most others are just generic XD) but they are also older so my expectations are also different.

When Burnout Paradise has more fun modes old or modern era then everything else for an old game, you know modern racing games modes/events are trash and weak event identities, but sell for the cars/locations as that's all they need, forget gameplay ideas.

I'm not expecting Stuntman or some kart racer. But come on, weak modes in NFS, The Crew and FH, is just pathetic. When Burnout Paradise a game that came out in 2008 has more identity to stand out then 2010s/2020s ones do. XD

Forza Motorsport the series I actually care about. I thought 1 was good, 2 was ok and a step down from 1 despite some things it changes, 3 and 4 are great, 5 isn't that bad, 6 was a remix and while the ideas in the showcase were good the mods were useless other then weight and the tours were really really bad. Anniversary title or not it's terrible. 7 was a fair remix as well.

2023 or 8 is no idea as haven't played it and the only think I thought was good was the position credit payouts, a good idea but the races are so bland, why would I bother. Their creativity went away, why would i play that? XD

Sunset Overdrive, Infamous Second Son/First Light, Gravity Rush non-racing.

Burnout/Carbon/Undercover only ones played. Burnout was the best. Even then I struggled with it at times but that's just me and how I play Burnout games. Got fair way in and the events were tougher but still. Beat Burnout Revenge so that's something Well 90% or so as the additional events didn't get to but the main ones I did..

If that's the best the genre has for open worlds, XD wow is it not worth my time. The games just aren't compelling enough. They lack content, meaningful ideas and just go 'insert cars/locations here'. They push visuals and brands people know wow how surface level is that?

Is that the best they can do? Seriously? Where did the ideas go? Gone because most of these devs racing or not types have got any it seems. Or audiences want 'realism' and all the creativity disappeared to old games unless remasters like Burnout happen and show what they used to be like, way more creative back then.

If that's the best they can do, no wonder I don't care to play them. They are just bland and forgettable with no depth, the bare minimum and people eat it up.

Easy pass for me.

I'll buy Gear Club Unlimited 3 like I did Grid Legends/Gravel/Gear Club Unlimited 1 and 2, is because they were decent. Not great but decent.

Most others are just hit and miss or boring.

No Screamer, Tokyo Extreme Racer and others have not impressed.

I don't see much in Super Woden GP 3 either. Inertial Drift was good at least.

Wreckfest was lacking content too, varied vehicles that do 1 event, wow and it's just a race, nothing exciting to use them for. Just visual variety, wow that's some depth to the game there. Kickstarter or funded later by THQ, yeah no. 2 and Wrecreation don't look much better.

Playing Dirt Showdown was an 'experience' it was ok. Has variety but still kind of hit and miss. Better than Wreckfest was though, no I don't care what an IP title or subtitle is. A game is a game and if it has good ideas I'll care.

I don't play oh it's Banjo Nuts and Bolts and go oh this is bad for the series. I play anything no matter how different style/gameplay because it's still interesting. Comfort does not interest me.

Why is the genre so bland?
