$550 for my most recent Series X, refurbished from It's Worth More.

Two day one Series Xs. $500 per.

Didn't realize they would be have a return in investment, let alone so soon.

After the Halo Infinite campaign released, I traded in my first-gen Xbox One and a small stack of Xbone games for a Series S for around $100.

so... it may sound odd however I bought my first Series X for less than 500€ on Amazon during the first months of 2021.
that console now is on my nephew home because he was without one.

for this reason I'm in the process of buying a new Series X.
I will let you know how much it will hurt my wallet 💸

I got lucky and got a near mint condition Halo Infinite Series X used in early 2022 for $500. Been rocking it ever since.

With console prices out of control and now having a powerful PC, I’m probably never buying another console again other than maybe whatever Nintendo console comes after the Switch 2.

1 TB Series X for $449.99 brand new at Target in April of 2024. My first and likely last XBox.

Even used some rewards I’d had at the time to put towards it.

It’s amazing that I could probably sell it for more than I paid for it now. I WON’T, but I COULD.

Think I bought mine for...$600 back in 2022 when it finally showed up in stock here in Sweden after having been out of stock since launch.

I bought my XBOX Series X 1TB for the now modest price of 500€ with the physical copies of Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 at 40€ each, since there was a sale in Portugal at the time.
Still remember coming from groceries shopping, entering fnac store, seeing the box for the very first time(they were sold out everywere) and since I actualy could afford it, I bought one the very same day wich was 9/11/2022 (weird date, I know).
Love the system a lot, have played great games in it and still have quite a few other ones I have purchased over the years, both physical and digital copies.
Strange times we live in when prices of old hardware increse instead of decrease over the years.

However I have a white all digital model now, with white core elite controller.

$350 in 2021 thanks to a combination of discounted gift cards and rewards points.

Then I sold my Xbox One X for around that amount.

I bought it at launch so i guess i got an early bird discount.

I don't see the point of launching new hardware at these elevated prices so we'll see what they do regarding that.

Got a used Series X for the son for about 400 dollars around four years ago or so. I also got two Series S before the price hikes. Turned out to be great value, sadly.

Hope they dont break, dont think I’ll replace them if I cant find a used one at a decent price…

I have a series S. I think it was 2021 (but maybe it was end 2020), paid the going rate - no sale, but prior to price increases. I had Next Gen FOMO and could not locate an X or a PS5 at the time. Even though it was not my first choice, I have gotten great use from that little box, no regrets! Upgraded it with a 1TB expansion when the price dropped on those a while back, and it is a perfect set up for me

Used Rewards points to pay for both. Bought the Series X in the first wave when Pre-Orders went live. Picked up the Series S for my wife a year later so we could keep gaming together.

$630 CAD after tax back at launch. Will sell it when I'm ready for around $550-600 now that a new ones cost almost $850 after tax. I am asbolutely all giddy over the idea of getting my money back on it after 7+ years of gaming on it, or however long until next gen arrives.

Got my series s on near enough launch for 350 euro and my series x 2023 for 450 euro seems extremely cheap for both now brand new!

It was my first ever Xbox and the main reason was the cheap entry point at £200

No chance I'd bother with one today at these prices

Day 1 2020, paid £329 had £100 Amazon vouchers through work, to bring it down to that price, did the £80 xbox GP hack for 3 years, so defo had VFM

I got my Series S free with a phone upgrade so I did ok with it

2022. S for $289 on Amazon. Who'd have thought the "good old days" would be only 4 years ago?

£240 on Amazon for my Series S used it daily until i got a PS5 still use it but not as much thinking of selling it and getting the Series X before it goes up in price.

€499.99 all inclusive for Series X, great deal. I picked up a Series 2 for €320 a year ago but returned it. Guess I should've kept it!

The stats are quite shocking, didn't expect the majority to be launch year. That means Xbox only sold 2/3rds of it's entire lifespan in 15 months. Crazy!

I remember it wasn't available in my country so I bought it through microsoft Poland, it converted to 525 euros. For the series x. So 25 above market

£199 pounds for my series S on a black friday deal, I don't really play many xbox games on it but as an emulation machine in devmode it's excellent

£380 2 years ago with CEX, mint condition, 5 year warranty, will easily get £450 for it next year when done with GTA 6, as I'll create a new dummy account and register GTA 6 to that and sell it with the console. I'll include the warranty receipt so the buyer will have 2 years warranty left.

Did the same with me PS5, sold it with account and a load of games, and on that one the buyer got 3 years warranty.

Pre-order my Series X to arrive Day 1 so paid launch price for a Brand New Console - I don't know what that was in $'s but as the UK includes Tax where as the US prices didn't, it would seem like a higher price if I converted the UK price tax to $'s and compared that to the US price without tax...

My wife's workplace gives 25% off any 3 items in the store as a Christmas bonus and they sell consoles so I was able to get a brand new XSX for way below retail price.

I got my Series X on sale around holiday of 2023 for $350, back when things were normal and consoles got cheaper as they got older. I can not imagine anyone paying these new prices...

Crazy to think awhile back a new series s was being sold on the Instagram store(while it was still up) for $150.

I think I've got my S (barely used) for like $100.

$499 in 2020 and $599 for my second one in 2025.

I have 3.

First one was at launch and paid MSRP 499 for it.

I later got a Series S on a wild Target Christmas sale for 200 and it came with a 50 gift card I think, so technically 150.

The last one was. series X Diablo bundle that I got on sale for 399 I think.

Bought it at the original launch price and still don't feel like I've gotten my value out of it... only reason I got one was an Xbox One X cost just as much at the time.

I was pretty lucky. I signed up a couple of years ago for Verizon 5g Home Internet, they were offering a free Xbox Series S with the service. Shortly after they apparently ran out of of those.
They sent me a Series X in lieu of the S. That was unexpected to say the least. But they did mention that could be a possibility if the S wasn't available. Getting one for free was a blessing at the time.
And in this current age of price hikes it still very much is.

Got it brand new + a free game at Walmart for $350 in 2023. Had no idea I'd be buying the dip. Who knew video game consoles would basically be like the stock market? If only I had this kind of luck with the actual stock market.

I bought and sold one in 2021 for £200. Then bought a used one for £130 in 2026.

Do we really think XBOX and PS will release new consoles November 2027.
We have only just seen the PS5 Pro start to shine with PSSR2.0.
We have just seen the series x start to shine it’s power with FH6 and gears e day.
And there is probably better to come if developers wish to.
These two consoles are just hitting their respective highs with a good few years left to get even more out of them as developers and development tools get better.
What drives these companies to want to release another generation way too early to my mind. They moan they don’t make money on consoles especially the first two years and with the prices it will be even worse and if new gen is released cross gen games will stay forever.
Why not just market and promote their existing consoles and make money of games and controllers and the ecosystem’s.
It’s almost like an extreme forced approach to release new consoles.

I did the maths. £450 minus VAT and converted into USD at May 2021’s exchange rate was equivalent to $515.

I got my Series X in June 2021. It was on the All Access deal at the time and cost £695.76 including 24 months of Game Pass. At the time I thought that was quite a lot for a console, but considering I'd have got Game Pass anyway the fact it was paid over 24 months interest free seemed a good deal.

It was basically the price of the console and Game Pass without much if any of a saving.

Series X - $300 in 2023 (refurb on Woot)

Got mine from GameStop during the pandemic iirc it was February 2021 because they had limited drops and it was a snowstorm that dropped 8 inches of snow and it was -5° outside. Stood in line and grabbed it for I believe mid 400s like around $460 give or take. Definitely worth being late to work that day when you look at the prices now.

Got my first Xbox, a One X, for $50 from a friend who was moving in December 2023 so the plan was to just skip this generation and wait for the next. There's no way I'd pay that kind of money, after the price increases, for a Series X that late in the generation. If I'm gonna pay top dollar, it's gonna be for the latest greatest hardware. Besides, my backlog on my One X and Switch is big enough to last multiple generations.

I definitely paid a lot less in 2021 than 2026.

I got my Series X on day one, and since we Europeans pay more, it was a bit over $500 if you convert it, which in today's market is a great price! Who would have thought this generation would have a reverse effect on console pricing. I sure didn't.

Luckily the way games come out, I doubt I will desperately need any new console going forward and my extensive backlog can be put to work.

I got my XSX for $0 on launch day, due to returning the extra bundled controller I didn't want, and the clerk refunded the controller but accidentally refunded the console as well. The store never caught the error. 😂 😂

Me: None as I don't care for PS5/Xbox Series right now. 2017+ Vita 200 ($100 I think), 2018 Wii U ($140 I think), 2020 New 3DS XL ($140 I think), Switch 1 OG model in 2021 ($300 used, weird I know but different regional prices), among variations of consoles/handhelds, 1st N64, 1st PS1 Classic, 1st Retron HD, SNES Classic.

Otherwise older consoles/handheld games/PS4/Xbox One/Switch 1. That's how boring 8th/9th gen was. Expanding genres, even FMVs this year, that's how pathetic I find 9th gen I'd rather play FMVs on 8th gen or Indies of varying genres (wait on 9th gen only ones), tactics games/dungeon crawlers since last year/hack n slashes/arcade racers/party games/visual novels, & more.

Others around me: Launch price, 1 Series X. Have 1 Xbox One VCR/1 Xbox One X. I think Xbox Series even besides Gamepass has been used the least compared to the Xbox One & even then we used it so little but I've used it a fair bit more due to back compat or odd Xbox One games here & there even for my small Xbox One library at around 30 or so (1/3 my PS4 library and I find PS4 hit and miss, better OS layout, eh game line up still, half or less the 1st parties interested me and they go with the boring formula, Xbox has variety but I find interest in them less and less each year/console gen), as much as some of my retro libraries are around 1 to maybe 10 to maybe 30, to under 100.

PS5 launch model at launch price, later (one of the reduced heatsink versions) maybe launch price of it or a few weeks out from it, Slim near it's launch price. None since.

No Switch 2 yet I'll get one later I'm not fussed.

I ignored 3 discounts of PS5s at a big retailer as I can't be bothered to get one myself, it's not appealing at all. Neither is Series X or Series S, they are good hardware, eh prices, ok peripherals (PSVR2 is good, Portal is a joke software wise of no dual screen and joke resolution targeting for streaming and not remote play itself, WIFI5 like come on even if accessible to some regions not even WIFI6 models? what a joke of a remote play device, I'm ok with a remote play device it's just not a very good one).

No Shapes biscuits would interest me in an Xbox Series, or others with Gamepass, no interest in Microsoft or any other reward programs. I'll do Nintendo surveys for games and give feedback on the games, but that's about it. The platinum coins are worthless.

On the OS side Quick Resume is cool for Xbox Series, I think Series S was a fair idea, I respect it. That and I don't mind old gen versions too, did on PS2/PSP/Wii, now VR/mobile are the only unique versions platforms. Series S is a fair option for people who it's intended for. I'm not as I want physical and digital not digital only, but the lower power doesn't disappoint to me I think it's fair. Most of the tech features don't interest me of RT, HDR, I find them boring and uninteresting. Graphics I can see the differences, still don't care. Gameplay is boring. Artstyles are fine but wasted on boring gameplay.

Cards are hit and miss on PS5, quiet PS5 well Xbox One had that and I still keep it to that quiet/POST off setting.

Part 2:
Impulse Triggers of Xbox One/Series is great, I hate the Series controller grip, the Xbox One S/Bluetooth one was enough, Series controllers I hate it it's like sand or too far of a grip compared to other grips. It's like having the grip on a floor mat put onto a controller its terrible.

Share button sure it makes sense, not a bad thing to have it, it is fair over the software method I barely used on Xbox compared to PS4/Switch 1.

Groups I use more on Switch 1 then I did on Xbox One.

I just buy whatever digital PS1, PS2, PSP not PS+, back compat on Xbox One. No interest in services, no way am I going for NSO either.

I do think some of them are pretty cool, but the games are so uninteresting of 9th gen, I didn't like much of 8th gen and 9th gen is even more boring of games, trends, game design is basic and more story/graphics, nostalgic Indies with none of the gameplay skill just good enough to make games of code, art, click and drag, it's fine for them to get started but it's not very exciting of games to play. They are too basic, too boring. The odd Echoes of the Ends or others come along but most are bland.

I have no reason to care at all for either box. Switch 2 mouse mode isn't that exciting either but I'll still get it to see how game upgrades are (maybe or just test the translation layer effectiveness for 'some' I mostly buy 3rd parties and the niche 1st parties, the popular ones later, otherwise Gear Club Unlimited 3/Grid Legends Deluxe on Switch 2, Ride 5/6 or odd other games on PS5 maybe but even then I can wait), but the IR was eh too. Touch screen/gyro do the job, HD Rumble was boring and underrated, too situational to easily see through. Even the PS4 Dualshock 4 vibration scaling in Azure Gunvolt/Clannad (a visual novel on many platforms) used it well.

When there is less then 10 games on PS5/Series I'd want, and I wanted 2 key games and have 100s of Switch 1 games, still going with old consoles/handhelds.

8th/9th gen are boring, so why would i upgrade? Price isn't the issue for me, it's high sure but the consoles are so boring.

Got mine as a random act of kindness on a subreddit group I'm in. Some guy got a bonus from work and decided to buy a Series S and give it to the first person that replied. I happened to be online and got it. I donated some money to a charity of his choice as a thank you

I got mine through Affirm in November 2024 with 18 monthly payments of $30 - so around $540. I actually just got it paid off in May

Got first Series X 6 mths after release about a week after Starfield released my Series X started acting weird. I thought it was done for so ext day I got a 2nd one. Got it home n thought let me see if my first one was still not working turned it on and it was working fine and has worked great sense then. The 2nd one I bought i put in my closet and is still in there I have never cracked the seals on it it has never been opened. I guess it will stay in closet unless I have a need to open it. Sucks for folks that wanna buy one now
