If you've bought a physical Xbox game lately, you may have noticed the security sticker seal has vanished. Well, this appears to be a new packaging initiative, with reports suggesting that several recent releases have shipped without the added layer of sticky security.
According to VGP Video Games Plus, an independent distributor based in North America, the lack of a security seal is simply a new 'packing initiative' rather than a lack of security.
Games such as Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, Planet Zoo 2, and Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen all seem to be shipping without the seal. Other X/Twitter users have shared similar posts, adding Valor Mortis, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse to the mix. However, another post appears to show Konami's latest banger arriving with its Xbox security seal still attached.
All this to say there's no need for concern whether your cellophane-wrapped game comes with or without the security seal. It also looks as though the new packaging initiative VGP mentioned is still in its early days.
If I'm being candid, I'll miss those security seals if they properly go. Cracking open a physical game and shredding through the seal was all part of the experience for me. Ah, well!
