Re: Microsoft Stuffs Three Exclusive Games in New Xbox One Holiday Bundle

JaxonH

This is clearly marketed at the Nintendo fanbase- the games choses are a Rare collection, a Rare franchise, and a Metroidvania platformer than would make any Wii U owner take a second glance.

They know exactly what they're doing with this bundle. There's a lot of Wii U and 3DS gamers who haven't bought a PS4/X1 yet, and this is a very enticing bundle to draw them in.

Heck if I didn't own one already, I'd be preordering this right now.

@shonenjump86
Gosh dang- Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Mario Golf World Tour... impeccable taste my friend, that's an all-star lineup for sure!

What I'm playing

Wii U: Super Mario Maker (approaching 200 stars for my 8 levels, gotta feed the fans with more!)
3DS: Legend of Legacy demo..... Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer
PS4: Metal Gear Solid V
Vita: [nothing]
X1: [nothing]

I just can't seem to stop playing that Mario Maker. I'm not really even playing MGSV this weekend, I'm just "hoping" to if Mario Maker will let me I did play a little AC HHD and Legend of Legacy though.

Re: Phil Spencer Finds the Console Wars "Distasteful"

JaxonH

I love this guy. Phil Spencer is awesome.

So many people who try to make you feel like your console of choice is inferior. People spend so much time trash talking others and the consoles they enjoy, it's like hey, if you don't like it don't buy it. But let us enjoy it in peace, right?

Re: Review: Mad Max (Xbox One)

JaxonH

Hmmm, I've heard a lot of medicre feedback, but, I trust your judgement FAR more than I trust the average internet news site.

Maybe I'll grab this one on sale. I've got a 100+ game backlog, so no need to rush.

Re: Out Today: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Xbox One)

JaxonH

I like it. Tactical espionage, a genre you just don't see every day, or any day for that matter.

I suck at stealth. I couldn't even beat the tutorial for Splinter Cell Blacklist on VERY EASY mode lol, yet right before I was about to turn the game off I somehow finally beat it and managed to drag my butt through the game, which to my surprise I enjoyed a LOT.

I got stuck within one hour of playing MGS3 Snake Eater. Couldn't get past part where you crawl under building. And it took me several hours to beat Ground Zeroes, albeit with a lot of coaching from my diehard MGS fanboy brother.

So why did I buy this game you might ask? Because I want to believe that if I keep trying sooner or later it will click like it did with Splinter Cell. That and this is Kojima's last Metal Gear Solid, and it's a rare genre and I'm all about expanding gaming horizons.

I just really hope I don't get stuck on the first mission because so far that's been M.O. with this franchise...

Re: Out Today: Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Xbox One)

JaxonH

@Gamer83
Older Gears of War?

Ok so I thought this was a collection, but having now read this article it appears to just be a remake of the original. But then having read your comment it appears that it may indeed actually be a collection, and the others are download?

What is this game lol? It'd be nice to know seeing as I bought it and it's on the way in the mail

Re: Review: Mega Man Legacy Collection (Xbox One)

JaxonH

I own all these games on a Wii U, and again on 3DS, and again in the GameCube Collection, and again on the Wii.

Nevertheless, I intend to buy this when the physical copy releases on 3DS early next year. I want my MegaMan games in 3D- I've wanted it SO badly for SO very long.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Sixty Nine

JaxonH

It's a full house this weekend! 2 full days off and I fully intend to get it in

X1: Rare Replay
Wii U: Splatoon.....Fire Emblem (GBA)
PS4: Rocket League

3DS: Little Battlers Experience
Vita: Resident Evil Revelations 2 (who am I kidding, I'll just play on PS4)

@Tasuki
Excellent choice with Sonic Racing Transformed. I bought that game back around when Wii U launched, and I was NOT ready for how good that game is. Yes, I think it gives Mario Kart 8 a run for its money (as do I think Forza Horizons 2 does as well)

Re: Peter Moore: It Doesn't Matter That EA Access Isn't Available on PlayStation 4

JaxonH

@Gamer83
No, of course it's not. People enjoy different stuff. Which is why, as you say, its good to have choices.

In fact I can totally understand why some aren't really interested in Nintendo. I mean, if you don't really enjoy gaming on a handheld, or (in the case of Wii U) if you don't enjoy the large majority of their games, there's really not much value there.

As for myself, I didn't game much in the 6th and 7th gens. Aside from F-Zero GX, the Metroid Prime games, Zelda Twilight Princess, DKC Returns Wii and a few EA Sports hockey games on PS2, I dont think I played any other games for the span of that decade. Naturally Nintendo was what I grew up on and was familiar with, so that's whose console I would always buy first. I had a PS2, PSP and PS3, but never played them much (granted I didn't play Nintendo much either). It wasn't until this gen that I realized how many of their games I actually loved.

I really hadn't much experience gaming since my early childhood, so every time a game came out on 3DS/Wii U I felt like a kid in a candy store. New Super Mario Bros was my first console Mario game in like 20 years, and I loved it. Then Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate released, and Fire Emblem Awakening, and they've become my top 2 all time favorite franchises. Pikmin 3 released and I adored it, DKC Tropical Freeze, W101, Splatoon, etc etc. Its just been a joy getting to experience all these games, and I find them all to be so enjoyable. Too many to bore you with a list obviously but you get the idea.

And to some extent the same thing has been going on with the AAA scene on PS4/X1. I try Dragon Age Inquisition, love it. Try Far Cry 4, love it. Try Forza Horizon 2, Infamous Second Son, Ori and the Blind Forest- love it, love it and love it.

I think I just love games lol. Because no matter what system I'm playing I can find a crap load of games that I love. The Vita actually has some good games- I LOVE Rayman Origins and Legends and Sonic Transformed. Wipeout 2048 and Gravity Rush, all good stuff. I think my problem is there just hasn't been anything I've personally been interested in for well over a year and nothing on the horizon that interests me either. Well, aside from a digital copy of RE Revelations 2 and World of Final Fantasy. So I guess there's a couple now. But once again, both games I'll be playing on PS4 instead.

Re: Peter Moore: It Doesn't Matter That EA Access Isn't Available on PlayStation 4

JaxonH

@Gamer83
"I just buy consoles with games I want to play"

^^^ The right approach.

Although I do enjoy so many Nintendo games I seem to have a much stronger adoration of their IP than anything else. But as you say, everything's on the table and it's all fair game. I go where the games are. Which is usually every console and handheld. Some provide more games I like than others, but I don't regret any of them. Except maybe Vita (I kid, I kid)

Re: Review: Rare Replay (Xbox One)

JaxonH

@Sanqet
That would have been a great idea. Compile ALL of Rare's games. ALL of them. DKC, DKC 2, DKC 3, DK64, GoldenEye, Killer Instinct (whichever wasn't included), Diddy Kong Racing, etc.

Then release the game as a joint collaboration on both Xbox One and Wii U.

Re: Dishonored Definitive Edition Preorder Now Available at a Discount, New Screens Revealed

JaxonH

@flameboy84
That's the best part! Get em all!

There's nothing like getting 17 pre ordered games delivered to your door in a 30 day period lol. Every fall it's like that for me. Currently have 47 games pre-ordered across X1, PS4, Wii U, 3DS and Vita. Once late August and early September hits, it's going to be like Christmas morning for 3 straight months every day I come home from work to check the mailbox.

Should try it some time. Baby steps though. Those 3 you mentioned would be a great start!

Re: Rare Replay Installation is One of the Largest On Xbox One

JaxonH

@Rezalack

I miss the days of double discs (or quadruple for that matter). They were particularly prevalent on the Gamecube too. While they have their benefits they can also be an inconvenience of having the games split up.

But I admit, I do like the idea of having all the games on disc.
