Re: YouTube Set to Acquire Twitch for $1 Billion?

JaxonH

I never liked Youtube once Google got ahold of it. This is how things work though. Buy out your competition before your competition eats you for lunch. YouTube's days are numbered, and they know it. Now it's just a game of defying their own fate. But if competing video streaming/upload websites continue to sell out, it will have the opposite effect. It could permanently cement YouTube's place in the social hierarchy of go-to sites.

I'm just waiting to see who's going to challenge them for the top spot. Last I heard, Yahoo was gearing up for battle with them.

Oh I see. Ya, I try to stay on the track at all costs! I know how much it slows you down, and it sucks.

In MK7 I didn't like alot of the karts, the way they handled or had lower speed. I'ma have to spend a little time experimenting to find a good kart that handles decent for drifting but also has enough speed and acceleration to stay in the race...

Haven't you ever seen Back to the Future? Hey McFly! Hoverboards don't work over water! Just one example of hovercraft speed being affected by the elements it travels over...

I don't think the game was meant to be realistic, but even so there are other instances of hover crafts slowing down or traveling at a different speed while over certain materials. Fast Racing saw you speed up or slow down depending if your hover car color matched the color of the pad. Think of it as science. Perhaps the tracks have greater magnetic opposition to keep hovercrafts gliding without friction. Perhaps off track there isn't the artificial field there to provide smooth sailing. Just sayin is all. You can use your imagination

Eh, I'm not having that good an experience with Borderlands 2 on Vita. I just popped it in and couldn't beat the little mini boss 5 minutes into the game because the controls are wack. You have to use the left and right sides of rear touchpad as actions, as well as left and right sides of OLED screen as actions. Doesn't work well at all in the heat of battle. Keep accidentally hitting the touchpad when I don't want to, and when I want to it won't register to sprint. The analogues aren't that good on Vita too so when I turn I find myself looking at the sky or ground half the time. NINETEEN ATTEMPTS and couldn't beat the mini-boss 5 minutes into the game because of the controls, and no difficulty setting doesn't help either.

Idk, I'm pretty bummed about this game- maybe the Vita just isn't cut out for home console experiences after all. The touchpad just isn't a viable alternative for shoulder buttons imo. The way I hold my Vita my fingers rest against it, so I have to actively try to not touch it while playing, and it's just not working for me. Idk, I'll give it another go later on tonight. Too upset with it right now to try again.

Re: Incoming! Halo 5: Guardians Confirmed for Xbox One in 2015

JaxonH

So, my only concern is that they will try to follow in the footsteps of games like Titanfall, Destiny, and Plants vs Zombies. I don't do online-only. I NEED my offline single-player campaign. Nobody thinks that would actually happen with Halo, right? I mean, they WOULDN'T... would they?

Re: Poll: Is Graphical Fidelity More Important Than Gameplay?

JaxonH

@DRL
You pretty much summed up my thoughts to the tee. I play Final Fantasy X on Vita and switch to Mario Golf World Tour, I don't feel like I'm switching to inferior hardware or an inferior experience- not at all. After I buy my Xbox One, well, sure I'll probably still buy the multiplats on PS4. It's a minor difference, but of course given the choice I don't see any reason to go with the slightly lesser resolutions/framerates. But it's not a big deal, it's really not. The exclusives on X1, like Sunset Overdrive, will look very comparable to exclusives on PS4 like Infamous. In fact, you could probably have interchanged the two and gamers would have never known the difference.

But ya, if I can jump from playing the Vita to 3DS and not think twice about the it, no way the difference between X1 and PS4 is going to be an issue. I mean, the systems are about as identical as they come in terms of graphical fidelity output anyways...

Re: These Are The Games You'll Miss Out On Without Kinect for Xbox One

JaxonH

This is a real eye opener for me.

I think it all comes down to price. If I can score a Kinect version of the console for $25 more than the vanilla SKU, I say why not. I'm curious to see whether or not the new SKU will go on sale like the Titanfall bundles were. I mean, even though I'm not interested in Titanfall, it would be hard to justify spending $400 on a basic model knowing they had bundles with Kinect and a game for just $50 more. Have to shop around, see what I can find...

Re: Guide: Setting Up US Netflix on Your UK Xbox One

JaxonH

Oh snap. That's pretty awesome. Maybe this would be good for Nintendo consoles seeing as they're region locked. Good way to grab a few downloads from the Japanese eShop maybe? Hmmm... I'll have to look into this.

I'm in the US and I know that when I go on Netflix there's quite a bit of British content, like the original House of Cards (not Kevin Spacey version), The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo trilogy, Dr. Who, etc. But I guess they just put up the most popular stuff. This method would be good for getting all the other stuff.

Re: Editor's Opinion: The Right Moves

JaxonH

Excellent article. You're handling things the right way, no doubt in my mind. There's a good number of gamers out there that don't really wanna hear the bragging and little jabs taken at the other platforms. They just wanna play games. Having a fair and neutral fan site is a really appealing thing to those who might be considering branching out with a new console they've never owned.

You don't necessarily have to agree with everything MS says or does in order to get behind the Xbox and enjoy it for what it's worth. As for Sunset Overdrive not running full 1080p, well, many titles don't- the latest being Watch Dogs. I don't think the people who say that sort of thing really understand how small a difference it is. But, like you say, that sort of thing is their loss. Me personally, I intend to miss nothing.

Re: Breaking Down The Wall: Entertainment Apps Go Free On Xbox Live

JaxonH

Wow. Hell has officially frozen over lol...

I must say, job well done on part of MS though. This was always one of my biggest complaints seeing as I hate subscriptions. I refuse to go PS Plus, and when I get an X1 I won't be a paying Xbox Live Gold member either. So yeah, this is really good news. Bout time too I say...

Re: Microsoft Announces Kinect-Free Xbox One

JaxonH

Um, I actually think I'd rather buy the Kinect model. I mean, they've already got bundles WITH a game for $450. Why give up Kinect and a game just to save fifty bucks?

This is good new though. Flexibility and responsiveness are what we want to see in a platform holder.

@Gamer83

Ya no doubt. I could afford it right now, but I like having a little cushion for emergencies ya know. Rather wait until later in the year when A) possible price drop or at the least, better valued bundles B) possibly bundled with a game I actually want and C) possible slim model released and D) I have a little time to save some extra money up for it, cause it's gonna cost games too (probably grab 4 or 5 off the bat), and an extra controller, and plug-n-plays for both of them, and ya... when everything's said and done it's gonna be $450 (console) + $60 (extra controller) + $30 (2 plug-n-plays) + $20 (controller charging dock) + $200 (4 games, thankfully only $47.99 ea since I have GCU through Best Buy) + $40 (tax) = $800.

$800. Ya, I think I'll wait a bit until I have a little more cash. That'd just about wipe me clean if I bought it now. I just bought a car 3 months ago (which was totaled by a driver while parked in front of my house), so I bought ANOTHER car last week. Too many expenses in a short period of time. Q4 is sounding like the perfect time, and at least that will allow me to plan in advance.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes (Xbox One)

@Gamer83

Gotchya. Yeah for me, it's all about the Xbox exclusives really. The multiplats I can already get on PS4. But I'm noticing that MS is really trying to differentiate themselves from Sony this time around. I'm seeing quite a few MS exclusives for the console only being out 6 months. Not all of them are good or games I would personally play, but some of them are.

I've been eyeing Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare for quite some time now, and this new Sunset Overdrive game is looking pretty slick as well. Thing is, games like Titanfall just aren't for me. I do enjoy the occasional FPS or CoD, but only to the extent of the offline single player campaign. Online-only just kills it for me. Multiplayer-only DEFINITELY kills it for me...

@Gamer83

Hey what's up! Wasn't expecting to find you here on this site. Do you have an X1 also in addition to your other consoles?

So, I'm thinking it might be time to take the plunge soon. I was going to wait for a slim model but as long as they announce some decent exclusives I can't get on my PS4 or Wii U, I think that's reason enough. E3 is coming up soon, and I'm sure along with it quite a few new Xbox exclusives. I've never owned an Xbox console before, but I guess there's a first time for everything, right?
