Re: Roundup: The Legend of Korra Has Reviewers Bent out of Shape

JaxonH

These reviews are straight garbage!

I bought the game and I played it last night, and I kid you not the game is utterly phenomenal. It's superb! In fact I was enjoying the game so much I had to pause it in excitement just to go post on a fan site and tell everyone how good it was. I'm still doing that very same thing now!

To anyone reading this who likes Platinum's games, you will not be disappointed. Don't listen to these chumps and their garbage reviews- this is a really, really good game. Trust me I have really good taste in video games (so says the stranger on the internet lol, but hey it's true)

And on a side note, I notice the reasons that people are bashing this game is mostly politics. Either it's too difficult for them (said the same thing about Platinum's Wonderful 101, a modern masterpiece), or fans dislike how you can do bending without the elements present, and that conflicts with the official canon, etc. I don't watch the show and even if I did, I wouldn't renounce this game simply because it's not 100% accurate in regard to the source material. Once again, if people would just judge the game on its own merits instead of what they want it to be, we'd be seeing a lot of scores in the 8-9 range right now

Re: Review: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Xbox One)

JaxonH

This is a really good game, but where it completely and utterly falls short of classics like Arkham or Assassin's Creed is in the lack of gameplay diversity. There are no puzzles. There are no interesting NPCs walking around to talk to. There is no variety. None of that. Just endless orcs and faceless slaves to free, and it gets a little tiresome after a while to be completely honest. I wanted woodland dwellings of elves and mountains of dwarves, great fortified cities of men, towns of hobbits and strange creatures across the board. What I got instead, was orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs, and just for good measure, more orcs.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Our Resolution Resolution

JaxonH

No, there is a very clear bias against Xbox One. Anyone who's not up Fanboy Creek can see that. That's why so many articles focus on the ONE thing PS4 has an advantage in.

It's whatever though. As a gamer who owns everything, I just ignore the elitist articles and get my news elsewhere. I hate all the bias.

Re: Join The Official Pure Xbox Car Club In Forza Horizon 2

JaxonH

@SuperKMx

I never liked sports games much, but as a teenager I used to love hockey video games. And golf. Well, I liked the Mario sports games and Wii Sports and games like Mutant League Football or NFL Blitz, but as far as realistic sports games go, hockey was pretty much it.

I haven't played a hockey video game in so many years, probably since I had a PS2 in high school. Are there any good hockey games nowadays? Or is it just the EA Sports iteration?

Re: What's Out This Week: September 30th (North America)

JaxonH

I've never gotten into racing SIM games. Usually I stick to cart racers and futuristic hovercraft racers like F Zero or Wipeout.

But I am the slightest bit curious. Tried a racing SIM once, years ago, and hated it. I'm just not really into cars. Idk, maybe I'll give Forza 2 a try. Have to watch some gameplay footage first though.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Twenty Nine

JaxonH

Unfortunately Hyrule Warriors, Natural Doctrine and Shadow of Mordor are all in the mail on the way to my house, but probably won't be here until early next week. My employer is sending me to Minneapolis next week for training, so I'll be out of state when all these great games arrive! Even Smash Bros releases the week I'm gone.

So, I'm gonna finish up the Origin levels in Rayman Legends I think, maybe some Skyward Sword as well

Re: Amazon US Removes Kinect-free Xbox One From Sale Due to Hardware Issues

JaxonH

@hydeks I bought a Kinect-less Xbox One soon after it released, and haven't had any problems so far. Granted, I haven't bought any games for it yet, but I have browsed online, watched TV while running cable through the HDMI port, made an avatar, etc.

I will will be keeping a close eye on it once Sunset Overdrive releases, just to make sure that everything's okay

Re: Xbox One Flops In Japan

JaxonH

Sucks... the Japanese have very particular taste, but, I guess so do westerners. Very few western gamers appreciate the virtues of Nintendo platform exclusives anymore, which I feel is a grave oversight but hey, it is what it is. Those of us who have played games on Xbox understand that there is great fun to be had, but sometimes people just make up their mind they're not interested, and nothing anyone can say or do will persuade them.

I think it just boils down to fear of change. We are creatures of habit, and most people prefer to associate themselves with a specific console brand, and aren't too keen on branching out from that comfort zone of familiarity.

Re: Mega Win Monday: Win The Golf Club for Xbox One

JaxonH

Hmm, The Golf Club. I've been secretly eyeing this game despite the fact I usually don't buy sports titles. Last real sports game I played was Tiger Woods PGA Tour with a Wiimote lol. Ironically, whenever I did break down and buy a sports game in the past, it was always golf, despite the fact I've never golfed in my life

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Twenty Six

JaxonH

Xbox One- nothing
PS4- Metro Redux..........Infamous First Light
Wii U- Rayman Legends..........Mario Kart 8

Vita- Borderlands 2..........Rayman Origins
3DS- Azure Striker Gunvolt..........Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

Wii- Zelda Skyward Sword

I basically put everything on the back burner for Skyward Sword, even the recent Metro Redux. I'm just so into Zelda I can't stop playing it. I'll get back to all my other games, but maybe not for a while cause I'm itching to play some Metroid Prime Trilogy after Skyward Sword. And once Bayonetta 2, Halo Master Chief, Dragon Age and Captain Toad release (along with 30 other fall releases) I'll be swamped. Too many games, not enough time to play them all!

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Twenty Six

JaxonH

@hydeks @Emanouel

Ok guys, Ive been asking around and nobody seems to have an answer. I've recently come to the attention of Diablo 3. Does it have single player off-line? And is it good? I'm a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I LOVE Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and I hear the game is similar to both of those in its own dungeon crawling sort of way. What is it like?

Re: What's Out This Week: August 26th (North America)

JaxonH

@EternalDragonX

Metro Redux is $49.99 so that's $10 off already. If you're a Best Buy Gamer's Club Unlocked member that's another 20% off, and Best Buy had a pre order offer for $10 back via gift card. Think I paid just $30, and that's 2 games included, so $15 each if you think about it. Oh, and another 10% back in rewards for using their CC.

You can snag deals day one, but usually Best Buy is the way to go. Even better if you join GCU, and combine with their pre order offers and the like. Something to consider...

Re: Legend of Korra Action Game Gets a Date

JaxonH

I'm so excited for this game. Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, Scalebound on X1 and Legend of Korra on PS4 (or X1). Little Platinum Games for everybody

When I heard it was releasing in October I flipped. Really wish it was a full retail release though. Still, can't complain about a great game.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Rise Of The Tomb Raider An Xbox One Exclusive

JaxonH

@Gamer83 It makes sense when you consider that it's going to be timed. That way, they're not losing a single sale. But they're gaining a whole truck load of cash from Microsoft. Only downside for them is dealing with crazed fans for the year in between the port announcement. I mean let's be honest here, it would take an awful lot of money to make up for lost sales on other platforms. And we both know they're not going to do that unless they come out benefiting.

It's a timed exclusive and they know it, they just can't say so. But what does all that mean for us? Well for me, it means I'm buying this game on Xbox when I would have otherwise been buying it on PS4.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Rise Of The Tomb Raider An Xbox One Exclusive

JaxonH

@eaglebob345 I agree. If they're going to buy exclusivity, make it permanent. Otherwise it means little. For instance, if TitanFall came to PS4 this holiday season, how many people would then buy an X1 for Tomb Raider? Knowing the likelihood that it would be ported within a year or so?

In any case, looks like I'm buying this game on Xbox.

Re: Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition Gets October Date With Xbox One

JaxonH

I've heard of this game but I've never seen it before. I think I saw my brother playing it a few months ago actually from PS Plus game or Games with Gold, come to think of it. Yeah, this was the game.

I know it's another remaster, but I'm ok with that. There was a lot of games I missed out on last generation. I'm realizing that fact more and more with every new port announced.

Re: The Last of Us Remastered Takes UK Top Spot Despite School Holiday Rush

JaxonH

I'm actually playing through The Last of Us Remastered now. It's good. It's really good. But I wouldn't get crazy and start saying it's the best game of last generation or of all time or anything. It's actually grown on me quite a bit through my playthrough thus far, and I would even go so far as to say it's the best survival horror game I've ever played (and certainly the pinnacle of what AAA can bring to the table) but that's where I'd draw the line.

Any way you slice it though, it's definitely a great game and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

I just can't wait for Halo Master Chief. For someone like me, who's never experienced Halo other than brief play sessions with the original many years ago, it's going to be an epic experience to say the least. It's really exciting!

Re: What's Out This Week: July 29th (North America)

JaxonH

I really can't wait until the X1 has the digital selection of the 360.
I love digital games. In fact, I find myself spending just as much time playing indies, VC/PSN and digital exclusives as I do on full fledged retail releases.

Maybe Xbox could start their own "VC" of sorts. Ya know, maybe start selling original Xbox games on the service or something. That would be pretty cool. And I know I'd have a lot of catching up to do.

Re: Killer Instinct Will Be Hitting Retail Shelves This Fall

JaxonH

Well, it's about time. Although I would have preferred to see everything on one disc. Now I'ma half to wait for Season 2 to release, and who knows whether that will be the last one or not...

Might just wait and see how it all pans out, because I'd hate to buy the individual seasons then see everything released on one game disc down the line.

Re: Talking Point: Has Games With Gold Turned You Onto a Game or Genre You Wouldn't Have Played Otherwise?

JaxonH

@DRL

Oh, right on. Thanks man. I'ma go read that review right now in fact.

And yeah I know, it's just that, well, with two consoles at $50/yr each, that's $100/yr, which is almost a thousand bucks throughout the course of the generation. And I almost never play online (Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, that's about it), so it's really hard to justify the sub fees. And I buy everything I like, even if I got it free I'd still buy it so I know I'd have when the subscription expired. So yeah... I did actually buy a year of PS+ on sale for $39.99, but I never used it. It's still sitting in my dresser droor Guess I've been waiting for a reason to need to use it, and that reason has never come.

Re: Talking Point: Has Games With Gold Turned You Onto a Game or Genre You Wouldn't Have Played Otherwise?

JaxonH

I don't do the whole subscription thing, but I'm always looking for new types of games to try. In fact, I just bought a game called Siesta Fiesta on 3DS (just released) and it was AMAZING! Like, scrolling levels of modern age Alleyway brick blocker gameplay, just FANTASTIC! Also bought a game called Armillo on Wii U that blew my socks off.

I'm currently on the lookout for some good Xbox digital exclusives that are, ya know, "gotta play must have" examples of gaming goodness on MS consoles, but haven't found any quite yet. That Peggle 2 kind of interested me, until I watched reviews pointing out the microtransactions and limited content compared to the first. Was also gonna get Halo Spartan Assault, til the review said you could only aim in 8 directions...(why?). There's a platformer called Max something on Xbox Live, anyone know if that's any good?

Re: Microsoft Announces Kinect for Windows v2 Pricing

JaxonH

I'm not paying that. I bought the Kinect-less X1 and now regret not buying the full version with Kinect, and up until this point had planned to buy a Kinect separately when they release. But that's too much. Especially in pounds- I'm in NA so that would be REALLY expensive in US dollars. I was thinking it'd be $100 or a little over, seeing as that's how much they discounted the console for dropping it.

I'll pay around $100-130, but anything more than that and I'll just do without, or wait until a price drop or sale or something.

Re: Crytek UK Staff Walk Out Over Incomplete Pay

JaxonH

See, we all knew what was going on, yet top brass tried hiding it from the public. They should have just fessed up, apologized to employees and decided how to proceed from there. Sounds like they just kept stringing the developers along...

I had a job like that before. Used to lay carpet and my boss wouldn't have our paychecks sometimes. He'd make promises to pay us next week, then next week would come, he'd pay us for the last missed check, but not for the current week. Didn't take long before we were considerable behind on our pay. That's when you quit and part ways.
