As a videogame adaptation, it's exceptional. As a show, it's just fine. Everything about it feels a little bit flat and generic, but the production values and acting are typically of the quality you'd expect from a prestige HBO drama.
Haven't noticed anyone mention that guy who stars in Reacher on Amazon Prime, Alan Ritchson, for Marcus, so I'll throw it out there. Let's be honest, we need competent actors, but mostly we need them to be the size of silverback gorillas, so they can convincingly square off with a locust. Hopefully they go practical with the effects as much as possible, and don't hold back with the gore.
@Somebody Okay, but how many of those 71k jobs are classified as "independent contractors" so MS doesn't have to award any benefits or pay FICA or unemployment taxes for? I'd wager it's good amount, given the company history, and that's one of the scummiest tactics around.
@UndyingInsurgent95 its not about this game specifically, but going forward, more and more concessions will have to be made to get games running on what is essentially an Xbox One X with a RAM stick taped to it. But keep telling yourself it's a current gen console and maybe you'll be able to ignore being stuck with 30fps lol.
@Tharsman who said anything about ray-tracing?The current gen update for Witcher 3 runs like utter crap on a supposed "current gen" console - it was a waste of CDPR's time and manpower to attempt it. MS may as well be forcing developers to also develop XB1X versions of current gen games, at this rate.
Anyone who says this console generation isn't being ham-strung by the Series S has their head in the sand. Or they bought a Series S (more likely their parents bought it) and they're trying to convince themselves it wasn't a big waste of money.
I have XSX and PS5, and while I prefer the Xbox team's approach in many ways, I really hope the FTC brings the hammer down on the merger. Monopolies are never good for consumers, or the employees that work for these mega corporations. I do think it's fine to keep some of the Bethesda exclusive, however, just because the Xbox hasn't been very competitive as far as exclusives for a couple generations now.
That PCGamer saying it has "no patience for filler" is very funny, because "filler" was one of the main criticisms of the game upon initial release. Way too many tedious "go here, kill these guys, come back" missions with little to no relevance to the overall plot.
@StylesT I played Dead Space at launch and found it pretty overrated. It was a 7 for me. Decently fun combat mechanics and great visuals for its time, but not at all scary, unless you are just highly susceptible to jump-scares. I love survival-horror, but it felt much more like action with (highly predictable and rote) horror set dressing.
@BRUTALSAM yeah, it would be more accurate to call the reviews "mostly positive." There are far more above-average review scores listed in this article than below-average.
@Dr_Luigi Most 3rd party games for the SNES were $70+ dollars, and that's in early '90s money. You were also much more likely to get an unplayable piece of shovelware that was essentially unbeatable without cheats. Count your blessings.
Star Wats means nothing any more. Way too many soulless, middling releases that have only made the prequels look better in hindsight. At least there was some actual heart and humanity behind those, all the Disney stuff is made-by-committee, and run through so many focus-groups that every rough edge that might have made it interesting is sanded away into nothingness.
This guy has been at it since the early '00s at least, and his predictions come true probably 2% of the time. Just another capitalist money guy trying to tip the scales one way or the other w/r/t stock prices, nothing more and nothing less.
@Richnj Nah, seems to me like they're more worried about their bottom line and quarterly reports. No doubt GTA6 will vastly outsell any remasters of older games, particularly ones that don't sell as well as mainline GTA entries, I'm sure shareholders would much prefer they devote resources to that instead of remasters that will bring in a tiny fraction of the revenue that a GTA6 would bring.
@Kooky_Daisuke someone didn't play Witcher 3 at launch, lol. Nearly as bad as CP2077 was, but most people weren't playing it or paying any attention to it, until it had been patched several times. CP2077 had everyone's eyes on it from the get-go.

@Notoriousmakavel did you miss the 60fps part? The game could greatly benefit from an improved frame rate, looks like this is a step towards that.

@Kaloudz "I actually prefer playing games at 30fps, honest!"

@Savage_Joe I have a Series X, guy. I skipped last gen of Xbox, why would I choose to buy what is essentially a One X with the disc drive removed, lol

Good call. 60fps vs. 30fps is such a massive difference, especially compared to 1080p vs. 4K, which is only a marginal improvement.

Desperately needs a 60fps patch, and that's literally it. The game is still stunning, but 30fps feels so sluggish now.

@Richnj have you looked at the total sales for GTA5 across all platforms? Seems like a safe enough bet, to me.
