Re: New Xbox Policy To Block Unauthorised Accessories

GADG3Tx87

@Mephisto2869
What with their god awful new policies that are getting people banned without proper regulation (seriously I've been seeing people get banned for typing WTH). Price hikes with the consoles, games and GamePass and now this they're well and truly back on track to Xbox One launch Microsoft. A leopard never changes its spots.

Re: Phil Spencer Thanks PlayStation Boss For His Contribution To The Video Game Industry

GADG3Tx87

Look I've got no love for Phil but that's hilarious considering the battle they've had. As a PlayStation primary user I say good riddance. Jim is bad for PlayStation and all he has done from what I can see is raise prices and deliver what I've felt to be a shadow of what made PlayStation great. Pursuing gaas? Let's just hope his successor sees sense and produces what PlayStation is known for, great single player games. Revive dormant IP's like Resistance and Killzone. Maybe put a ring on SE's finger since they're practically married. Don't go too heavy on chasing gaas.

Oh and if it's a Japanese leader and I hope it is move your HQ back to Tokyo immediately.

Re: Well, It Looks Like The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Be Xbox Exclusive After All

GADG3Tx87

And Phil literally said last week when asked specifically and directly about ES6 'case by case basis'. So not only is his mind already made up as the document reveals but he continues to skate around it or flat out lie to look good to regulators.
Everyone knew it wouldn't be on PS5 but we also know Phil will dance around it while regulators are on his case to get what he wants.

Source of what he said last week.

Re: Oh Look, Starfield Is Getting Review Bombed On Metacritic

GADG3Tx87

Let's not pretend this isn't going to happen when Spider-Man 2 launches exclusively on PS5 from every Xbox die hard fanatic out there. People here still bitch about Spider-Man from 2018. It was funded and published by Sony, developed by insomniac and rejected by Xbox. For those reasons it has every right to be an exclusive before you @me.

It happened with Horizon, it happened with God of War and it'll happen with every exclusive so let's not act all high and mighty and victimised.

Re: Starfield's Game Pass Upgrade Is Currently The Best-Selling Item On Xbox

GADG3Tx87

@Dsswoosh

Never forget IGN and Gamespot gave this game a 7, whilst every other major review system including user reviews gave this 8's and mostly 9's or 10's.

There is no doubt Sony got their fingers dipped into IGN and Gamespot pockets.

Shameful practice.

I'm sorry got any proof on that? Or are you just clutching at straws and assuming because 'they' live rent free in your head?

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Now Officially More Expensive In Most Countries

Also a heads up. People are noticing just today that Gold > Ultimate 1:1 conversions have stopped. It now seems to be 3:1 according to this Reddit post.

Re: Microsoft's CEO Isn't A Fan Of Console Exclusives, Blames Sony

GADG3Tx87

@cragis0001
First of all Xbox fans do the same thing. They feel they are entitled to exclusivity and don't like it when PlayStation has something they want but cheer for their "team" to buy everything under the sun. Example, constantly saying, "now they must buy SEGA, UBI, EA etc"

Second, Sony have never bought a publisher. Only developers. Mostly ones they have had a close history with.

And third. Xbox has more studios, more IP's and more money than Sony. It all comes down to mismanagement. That's why they're losing. They can't get a good game out to save their lives and money isn't going to solve that.

On a minor note. Exclusivity started long before Sony entered the market with Nintendo and Sega.

Re: Microsoft's CEO Isn't A Fan Of Console Exclusives, Blames Sony

GADG3Tx87

Xbox literally owes its existence to Sony and an exclusive. Microsoft approached Sony to have games on the PS2 after failing with Windows Live. Sony said no. Microsoft stole Halo from Apple and the original Xbox was born.

This is the kind of thing you say when you're a sore loser and a hypocrite by using your wealth to climb to the top in the X360 days with exclusive third party games and content.

Without exclusive one of the consoles would die off eventually. Then with only one left there goes competition. And then the consumers lose without that choice because the monopoly company can take the p**s. This guy is clueless and like Phil, a sore loser and hypocrite.

It all comes down to poor management when you have more studios, more IP's and more money than your competitors. Sony is not the blame for your incompetence which you're now trying to compensate by doing what you do best. Buy everything. And try to justify it.

Re: Xbox Was Thinking About Acquiring Square Enix Back In 2019

GADG3Tx87

This just proves they were actively looking to buy out companies that didn't even advertise the need or desire to be bought just to take games away from a rival platform forever. Again, it makes Sony's timed deals look justifiable when Microsoft are clearly looking to buy the industry piece by piece.

Funny really. Everyone thought this ordeal would bring out Sony's 'dirty laundry ' so to speak but behind the scenes Microsoft have been hiding much more nefarious plans to slowly take over.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Congratulates Sony On 'Nice' PlayStation Showcase

GADG3Tx87

I watched the whole thing and it was very mediocre. There are 6 games from the entire showcase that interest me and only 2 of them are exclusive.

Phantom Blade (looks interesting)
Metal Gear Solid (even though I have them all)
Assassin's Creed Mirage
Foam stars (yes I liked it)
Final Fantasy 16 (looks incredible)
And obviously, Spider-Man.

But for those saying it was "boring" are essentially saying 90% of games due for Xbox over the next year are boring because most of them will be on Xbox. I didn't think much of it but some look interesting.

And I'm glad E3 is gone. These kind of showcases are the evolution of that imo.

Re: Microsoft Reckons It 'Lost The Worst Generation To Lose' With Xbox One

GADG3Tx87

Why does it matter Phil? You said many times Sony are not your competitors 🤔.

Funny now you're trying to get an acquisition through that you're in competition with Sony for console sales when you yourself said "we're not in competition with Sony. Our competitors are Amazon, Apple and Google."

If we're being pedantic you're actually winning. Remember when you said "the Xbox One family is forwards compatible"

Re: Phil Spencer Says Xbox 'Needs To Improve' Its Development Process

GADG3Tx87

Kinda sounds like damage control to me. Blaming it on mid production despite delays? Just passing the blame.

If StarField doesn't succeed (and I've said for a while it looks mediocre to my taste) then Xbox is in serious trouble.

I see comments all the time of people claiming they're cancelling GamePass, and console sales are apparently down. Not looking good.

Redfall was hyped up by fans and execs alike and it's another classic case of hype over expectation. And that's also what I feel will be the case with StarField. Just as with Halo Infinite after multiple delays. Buggy and unfinished.
Look, I'll admit I'm a cynical guy. But I do feel that Bethesda have had their time in the sun. Fallout 3 was amazing. As was Oblivion and Skyrim, while it didn't hit me as hard was great. After that they've been pretty mediocre.

I really do believe there is a serious mismanagement problem internally. And yet they want more studios when they can't handle what they have? It'll be a disaster.

Say what you want about Sony. But with less money, resources, studios and IP's, they're kicking Xbox's butt.

Re: Microsoft Signs New 10-Year Deal Despite UK ActiBlizz Verdict

GADG3Tx87

And after 10 years they take full control of CoD and use it to assume a dominant position in a cloud gaming market that will become viable as the years progress.

This is exactly what the CMA are concerned about. They'll see right through it. And threatening the UK shows that they are prepared to leverage their position in markets to get their own way.

Not a good look MS.

Re: Microsoft President Makes Headline News With 'Furious' Response To UK ActiBlizz Verdict

GADG3Tx87

@Ashadelo
Is it? London is one of the three major economic sectors of the world and right now the EU is falling apart without the financial support from London. France has especially taken a huge hit and other countries are now considering pulling out. Greece is one toe out the door and others thinking about it. If you follow the political goings on it's a real s**tshow right now.

Trade has taken a hit across the UK and EU, some of which out of spite but in fact, since the split, which is still yet incomplete, the UK has been financially better off without having to provide EU countries financial support or member fees.

London and Brussels were the main financiers of the European Union, in which the UK provided the bulk of that economy.

The only thing about the entire ordeal that bothers me is if after the transition period the UK loses access (or pulls out) of the European Court of Human Rights. The conservatives have shown how mad with power they can be without additional legislation from them.

Re: Microsoft President Makes Headline News With 'Furious' Response To UK ActiBlizz Verdict

GADG3Tx87

@BBB
I hear that and it's only going to get worse. I hate consolidation and the bad practices we've seen only escalating since the start of the last generation.
The more this goes on, the more people will think they know what goes on in the boardrooms and how much money these corps have and who will kick who in the balls.

It's tiresome. And more often than not I find myself going backwards with games, not forwards. My PS2 has been on more lately than any new game. And when everything gets gobbled up, choice is reduced, delays and greed gets worse I'm done with the future of, quite frankly mediocre and underwhelming games. (Because they tend to get over hyped a lot now).

I've got a big enough library to last the rest of my days. So everyone can have their clouds, their services, their greedy microtranactions. I'll be good.

Re: Microsoft President Makes Headline News With 'Furious' Response To UK ActiBlizz Verdict

GADG3Tx87

@outswimmingtheflood
This exactly. I'm sorry but the lack of games and multiple delays and the Redfall fiasco just shows they have an internal mismanagement problem and for now should really focus their efforts on cleaning it up and getting some games out there. Not taking on more than they already can't handle.

Sony have been running rings around them at this point with releases making it look like Xbox is running into a barren Xbox One hiatus again. Albeit for now.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Widey85
In fairness there's nothing stopping Microsoft from making a deal with ABK for favouritism of CoD over Sony because they have the money to outbid them. And there would be nothing the UK could do about it because it's not considered a takeover.

There's always that option. But in regards to Sony IP's the have nothing compelling in the shooter genre. Even Halo wasn't able to stand toe-to-toe with CoD. Not even Battlefield. Maybe Fortnite though, in time.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Widey85
Thing is though it's the CoD name that holds power and would attract people who may not follow gaming as in depth as some like dedicated sites here. It's like the FIFA crowd. They know they name and that's all that matters. Install base or not.

Sony has Killzone, Socom and Resistance. I can never see those being anywhere near the impact of CoD no matter how big Sony is. Because the names are just not well known to the casual masses. They know CoD. And if it's not on PlayStation they'll be like "where is it?" And flock in droves. I think that's the fear Jim has.

I mean, for the record I despise consolidation and wish they'd all pack it in and let us play games.

TLOU factions is coming from Naughty Dog. And I doubt that will have much of a following at all. Even from gamers in the know. I know I'm not going to bother with it.

Everyone wishing for consolidation maybe doesn't seem to realise that they gain nothing out of it because they get the games anyway. But someone will always lose out because it gets taken away from one platform or another. And some are too well invested to switch.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Widey85
Thought the EU already said yes? Or atleast a majority.
But yeah I'm not trying to sound aggressive, and maybe I gave a huge worst case scenario granted. But in the end Microsoft makes more money by keeping Xbox products and services in the UK active than the expenditure of the ABK deal. They'd stand to lose a lot more in the long run and while competition is growing from the like of Amazon, Apple, Google etc Sony would hugely dominate in that market. More than they already do anyway. And I can't see an appeal being approved if they're adamant on this.

They told Sony/Jim to come up with a CoD competitor over the next 10 years of continued parity. But maybe they can take their own advice and do the same.
A new IP, new competition. Thats better for the industry in the long run. Because let's face it, everyone has access to ABK games anyway so gamers don't really lose out on all platforms but we could potentially see more games come out of this from the verdict given than a takeover.

Atleast that's how I see it. Otherwise MS contradicts itself if they think it's feasible for Sony to create a CoD competitor and they can't do the same.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Widey85
Did you not read what I just said? Even if their IT side of business was permitted to still operate within the UK it has no major impact to ban Microsoft's gaming division as there is much competition anyway.

And since a verdict has been reached and if Microsoft lost an appeal but still took over ABK with acceptance from other countries the fact is the deal was rejected so sale of gaming products and services from Microsoft would be banned in the UK.
It really wouldn't be worth their while going against that decision if they lose an appeal because Sony would have even more dominance than they already do.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Widey85
"Trust me bro!" 😂

I work in IT too certified in network engineering and towards cyber security analysis and you seem to be forgetting that Azure is still in its infancy with Google cloud making strides. You may also be unaware that there are many businesses starting to migrate to open source such as Linux and open source software. Apple also provides server software in many businesses nowadays. It all comes down to licencing.

And even if they didn't cut Windows Cloud, Server and Office, not complying with the CMA decision would no doubt result in a ban of Xbox and GamePass services in the UK. That makes no impact as it's just a consumer electronic device and software that Sony, Google, Amazon, Apple and now Netflix can fill the gap on.

It really wouldn't be worth it for MS to even lose that market in their gaming revenue alone.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

GADG3Tx87

@Seioni
Even though it passed in other countries it means that if MS go against the CMA decision then the UK government has the right to ban all Microsoft products and services in the UK. Meaning no Xbox, no GamePass, No Windows or Office. Leaving that market entirely open season to Sony and Apple. And potentially Google.

It wouldn't be worth their while going against them because they'd lose more than the deal is worth. If the appeal fails, and it highly likely will with this decision because the UK government is stubborn, then this deal is completely dead.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Stoned_Patrol
First of all, you have zero evidence and only speculation. Second, a demo is not and never has been a deciding factor for people to choose a console, that's just stupid
And third, why so angry? Lol. It's just a logo, go touch some grass and let go of that hate you so clearly have.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Banjo-
Excuse me sir. I came back here for a bit to have a read and noticed a conversation between you and some fellow above. You said something about a multi account and unless I'm mistaken indicating in relation to our chat this morning.

I don't know who the other fellow is but if you're referring to me I'd very much appreciate not to be accused of such things that I simply don't have time for. This is a slight example of why I avoid comments nowadays. So much negativity goes around.

I left earlier because I simply don't want to run the risk of heated discussions because my head is messed up as it is. I'll be going away again because I don't need this kind of negativity. If it wasn't me your comment was in reference to then apologies but I don't appreciate the accusation if it was.

Have a nice night.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Banjo-
I'm not a developer but from my experience in software it's really not that easy. DirectX only accounts for graphical rendering capabilities. The under coding for software architecture is a real headache. That's why I got out of the software side in the end and started towards cyber security. Underlying kernal similarities are one thing, custom OS overlays are another and do require work and cost.

I know that article was published by PushSquare but the source is supposedly Kotaku and more recent than the other. I take it with a pinch of salt because a lot of misinformation has been passed around during the ABK situation.
Although it has as I say been suggested according to some that SE are subtly against services and do need the sales.

And we have no idea what percentage of revenue is returned to developers which doesn't help when if what we hear is right Japanese games don't get much engagement on Xbox.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Banjo-
Xbox and Windows are not one and the same though. The OS of Xbox is a custom overlay and only uses the Windows kernel underlay. So games do indeed require a full port to a different software architecture. I know this from my time working in the IT industry under Cisco and Microsoft in the past. I don't work with Cisco systems anymore though and started towards cyber security under compTIA.

Here is a recent article btw that suggests that GP is hurting sales.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/02/microsoft-cant-deny-xbox-game-pass-cannibalises-software-sales
That's where I got that impression from.

But again, with respect we can't say for a fact that all games are being blocked. It's eerie granted. But if Octopath 1 is anything to go by it wouldn't have skipped PS in favour of Xbox.

I doubt Xbox paid for it to skip PS. But for all we know Sony has nothing to do with that until SE confirms it themselves. We know about FFVII remake for sure though.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Banjo-
To be fair do we really know that for a fact though? I agree that several SE games have excluded Xbox and it's wrong. But I'd supposedly read that SE have subtly suggested that services hurt their sales which is possibly the true deciding factor. And Phil himself recently admitted GamePass has had a negative effect on game sales. SE are not a huge company, and porting does have its costs. And they might not get a positive return on that investment from GP alone. So we don't really know for absolute certain. If Sony really are blocking every SE game why did the first Octopath skip PS? We don't really know.

I found it odd that Goldeneye, despite Xbox owning Rare was only on GP. My reasoning being that the Bond IP is owned by Amazon to my knowledge now. Rare was the original developer but that licence would have ended years ago and they don't have any ownership over the game or IP. In the very least since the original was on N64 I would have thought it would be there.

The FF Pixel Remasters I tried to get as a physical copy for the Switch. They were only in limited supply from SE own store and I missed out. Was gutted about that because I prefer physicals personally. And I'd prefer to play it on Switch over PS. It just 'feels right' oddly because of the originals from all that time ago I played on Nintendo.

Weird things just happen.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Free Demo Coming To Xbox Next Week

GADG3Tx87

@Banjo-
I rarely ever come to comments or engage anymore because nowadays no matter what you have to say someone more often than not attacks you for it (not saying this is that DW). It fills me with anxiety to think about engaging in discussions anymore and what with my own problems I can't deal with that kind of negativity. I read news and that's about it except on rare occasion.

As for the ABK I don't care for CoD personally which is the main thing this seems to be centred around. But I'll miss Spyro. That's what I mean when I say despite what some fanatics might say that it's a good thing it really isn't because someone will always lose out somewhere. Sony have just acquired that 'Firewalk' or whatever their called. Never heard of them but I'm tired of everything being gobbled up.

Another example of weird things that happen that doesn't show evidence that a platform holder had anything to do with it is Octopath Traveller. It released on Xbox and Switch but not PS. The second excluded only Xbox. Did Xbox block it from PS? Did PS block the second? Not a clue but it's a very weird move. But I can't accuse anyone because we just don't know until someone in the know says so. It's for that reason I haven't bought Octopath 2, because I'm not sure about it. And it's things like this that create problems. None of them are innocent and there's usually more to it than we know.

But in cases of some dedicated boards if I dare point something out or try to say what I think regardless of who I may say it about often times you get jumped on by fanatics. So I mostly stay away now. Which can be a shame because there are times I'd like a discussion, but why bother if someone will try to ruin my day.

Which is only what I was trying to say really. Don't think too much, it just ends up making you miserable. Again, no disrespect.
