And finally. This is a demo. A week delay of a demo. It's hardly damaging.

@somnambulance My favourite Street Fighter mode is always the regular arcade tournament mode or however it's called now but I never start enjoying a fighting game until I learn how to properly control a character. It's not about the graphics or anything like that although the music is very important because you're going to listen to it a lot! (Super) Street Fighter II still has the best music. So, once I know how to properly control a character, Nash was my choice in Street Fighter V on my overheating PS4, I'll know how much I like the game.

I don't deny that that's a thing from fanatics and not the majority but does it mean you have to do the same and sink to that? Just be better and let it go. I'm primarily a PlayStation user myself and I see ridiculous comments all the time everywhere on all sides.

Do I agree with shady practices, timed stuff and consolidation? Absolutely not. But it happens and there's nothing anyone can do about it. The ABK deal will do damage one way or another because there will always be someone who loses out somewhere regardless. Just as if Sony or Nintendo do and will partake in such things. The consumer is the one who loses.

That being said there's no point anyone going around with hatred or negativity in your mind all the time. And as someone who suffers from mental health, believe me it does you no good.

@GADG3Tx87 I'm not offended nor full of hatred, don't worry. I write tongue-in-cheek comments and constructive criticism. The best thing about the ABK deal is that Sony's lies and shady practices are being exposed by regulators and judges. I don't want Nintendo, Sony nor Microsoft to pay third parties to hurt competition, that's the only thing I'm 100% on board. Of course, a one-week demo is not that important. I have never criticised any of them for acquiring studios. Both Sony and Microsoft didn't have any studios of their own. Well, maybe Microsoft had the MInesweeper developer from the beginning 😜.

I rarely ever come to comments or engage anymore because nowadays no matter what you have to say someone more often than not attacks you for it (not saying this is that DW). It fills me with anxiety to think about engaging in discussions anymore and what with my own problems I can't deal with that kind of negativity. I read news and that's about it except on rare occasion.

As for the ABK I don't care for CoD personally which is the main thing this seems to be centred around. But I'll miss Spyro. That's what I mean when I say despite what some fanatics might say that it's a good thing it really isn't because someone will always lose out somewhere. Sony have just acquired that 'Firewalk' or whatever their called. Never heard of them but I'm tired of everything being gobbled up.

Another example of weird things that happen that doesn't show evidence that a platform holder had anything to do with it is Octopath Traveller. It released on Xbox and Switch but not PS. The second excluded only Xbox. Did Xbox block it from PS? Did PS block the second? Not a clue but it's a very weird move. But I can't accuse anyone because we just don't know until someone in the know says so. It's for that reason I haven't bought Octopath 2, because I'm not sure about it. And it's things like this that create problems. None of them are innocent and there's usually more to it than we know.

But in cases of some dedicated boards if I dare point something out or try to say what I think regardless of who I may say it about often times you get jumped on by fanatics. So I mostly stay away now. Which can be a shame because there are times I'd like a discussion, but why bother if someone will try to ruin my day.

Which is only what I was trying to say really. Don't think too much, it just ends up making you miserable. Again, no disrespect.

@GADG3Tx87 Don't worry, I'm fine, honestly. I hope that you are, too. I respect if you decide to skip comments and don't say anything. If you decide to express yourself freely and someone attacks you personally, just report them and they will be banned or have their comments deleted. There is a difference between liking and disliking games, companies and business decisions and throwing personal attacks just to try to make others feel bad. The people that do the latter are miserable, not you.

People say that Sony is behind Octopath Traveller II skipping Xbox because every single Square Enix game is excluding Xbox now, e.g., Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection that is on Windows, PS5, Switch, mobile phones even but not on Xbox! So it's a fact that Sony is the culprit and it's anticompetitive because Sony doesn't own Square Enix, they are just paying a third party to specifically hurt Xbox players. That's illegal in other businesses.

@somnambulance Actually, I like slower gameplay because I find it impossible to play a fast-paced fighting game properly unless you learn all the frames by heart or there are broken mechanics that balance the gameplay. (Super) Street Fighter II did that very well because there was enough time to counterattack or defend depending on the other player/CPU's actions. That's the gameplay I like the most, when you have enough time to play consciously and you don't need to learn the frames of every character which was easier in SFII anyway because the frames were more obvious and the graphics were cleaner. I hate the excess of visual effects (SFV) and blood (Killer Instinct 3) in fighting games because they are distracting.

To be fair do we really know that for a fact though? I agree that several SE games have excluded Xbox and it's wrong. But I'd supposedly read that SE have subtly suggested that services hurt their sales which is possibly the true deciding factor. And Phil himself recently admitted GamePass has had a negative effect on game sales. SE are not a huge company, and porting does have its costs. And they might not get a positive return on that investment from GP alone. So we don't really know for absolute certain. If Sony really are blocking every SE game why did the first Octopath skip PS? We don't really know.

I found it odd that Goldeneye, despite Xbox owning Rare was only on GP. My reasoning being that the Bond IP is owned by Amazon to my knowledge now. Rare was the original developer but that licence would have ended years ago and they don't have any ownership over the game or IP. In the very least since the original was on N64 I would have thought it would be there.

The FF Pixel Remasters I tried to get as a physical copy for the Switch. They were only in limited supply from SE own store and I missed out. Was gutted about that because I prefer physicals personally. And I'd prefer to play it on Switch over PS. It just 'feels right' oddly because of the originals from all that time ago I played on Nintendo.

@GADG3Tx87 There is a lot of misinformation about Xbox on PS. The porting costs to Xbox are minimal when there is a Windows version, especially with DirectX. I remember Phil saying exactly the opposite, that Game Pass boosts games' popularity and sales. I think it's pretty obvious that Sony is paying Square Enix for specifically excluding Xbox and that's also why they don't want to show the documents that the judge said that they must show.

Xbox and Windows are not one and the same though. The OS of Xbox is a custom overlay and only uses the Windows kernel underlay. So games do indeed require a full port to a different software architecture. I know this from my time working in the IT industry under Cisco and Microsoft in the past. I don't work with Cisco systems anymore though and started towards cyber security under compTIA.

But again, with respect we can't say for a fact that all games are being blocked. It's eerie granted. But if Octopath 1 is anything to go by it wouldn't have skipped PS in favour of Xbox.

I doubt Xbox paid for it to skip PS. But for all we know Sony has nothing to do with that until SE confirms it themselves. We know about FFVII remake for sure though.

@GADG3Tx87 Porting from Windows DirectX to Xbox is super easy according to all developers and I believe them. I've only read bad things about developing for Series X from Sony's friends and developers. Don't you think it's very suspicious that Square Enix games are suddenly excluding Xbox?

Even if some people play a game on Game Pass instead of buying it, that's not a bad thing, the subscription costs money and developers are pleased with Game Pass. I'm sure that subscribers play more games because they're included in Game Pass so they're supporting more games as they wouldn't have bought every single game they play otherwise. In other words, Game Pass gives money to many more games than when you only buy certain games.

I'm not a developer but from my experience in software it's really not that easy. DirectX only accounts for graphical rendering capabilities. The under coding for software architecture is a real headache. That's why I got out of the software side in the end and started towards cyber security. Underlying kernal similarities are one thing, custom OS overlays are another and do require work and cost.

I know that article was published by PushSquare but the source is supposedly Kotaku and more recent than the other. I take it with a pinch of salt because a lot of misinformation has been passed around during the ABK situation.
Although it has as I say been suggested according to some that SE are subtly against services and do need the sales.

And we have no idea what percentage of revenue is returned to developers which doesn't help when if what we hear is right Japanese games don't get much engagement on Xbox.

@GADG3Tx87 You can find tons of hypotheses to try to not blame Sony and this conversation would never end but I think it's pretty obvious reading non-Sony developers, regulators and trial documents what the real reasons are. Remember Call of Duty DLC? Hogwarts Legacy exclusive content? Forspoken? Final Fantasy VII Remake and every recent Square Enix game? Resident Evil Game Pass ban? Ghostwire Tokyo? Deadloop? Multiplatform Fortnite users losing purchases when logging in on PS? I'm sure that all those things were just coincidences and, oh surprise, Game Pass is not profitable and Xbox development costs are to blame.

Just pointing out a mistake at the bottom of the article, the game isn't releasing on Xbox One, else I would be buying it on Xbox instead of PC 😊

Can you provide sources saying that developers admit that developing for Series X or porting from Windows DirectX to Xbox is difficult as you claim? @somnambulance I appreciate your comments. I have a PS4 but I haven't downloaded the demo. Normally, I ignore demos if I know I'll buy the game (Resident Evil 4 Remake, Street Fighter VI...). I'll get the game for Series X, obviously. I mean, between an overheating PS4 and a Series X, what version would you get?

I played as Cammy a lot in Super Street Fighter II, she's fast as well. Fast characters are a lot of fun in that game. Chun-Li is fast and fun. What do you think about SFV? It's not that I don't like it but I can't put my finger on what's wrong... What do you think about clean graphics versus visual effects? I'm very curious about SFVI. What previous game does gameplay and speed remind you of?

@somnambulance LOL about your hideous character. I know that you'll get it for PS because you have a PS5 but not a Series X if I remember well. I used to think that Ryu is boring to control. I agree about V, I think that it looks great and gameplay is a bit friendlier than IV but with the huge updates every week and the loading screens and adverts it was like, what am I doing here? Most of the characters were also behind paywalls. When they added the arcade modes it was nice but I found them disappointing. III is the only one that I haven't played properly but I have it in the 30th Anniversary Collection. What do you mean by deliberate SF VI?

I don't know who the other fellow is but if you're referring to me I'd very much appreciate not to be accused of such things that I simply don't have time for. This is a slight example of why I avoid comments nowadays. So much negativity goes around.

@somnambulance Then I think that SFVI will be easy to read, that's good. I bought the first edition of SFV, it feels like a free-to-play game but it isn't😅. I think that your impression might change when you play faster characters like Chun-Li.

Apologies then. I've had an account for years now and don't comment much. But I certainly don't do the whole multiple account trolling thing. Just been progressing a professional rank run in RE4 Remake before I get some sleep.

Glad to have SF back on XB, with crossplay at that! If any of you intend to play online, HMU. Been a while since I've done any competitive FGC stuff and going to see if SF6 inspires.

Planning on maining Cammy at launch, though Manon and the big lady look fun as well.

But that is exactly what Playstation has been b*tching about for the last year and a half. That Xbox would start doing things like this with Call Of Duty... Yet PS does this stuff all the time.

Very recently PS also got the Resident Evil 4 Remake demo before Xbox.
And if you think that Playstation did not pay for the opportunity to have these demos on their platform first... Then you really are just in denial haha.

I have a PS5 as well as a Series X, and this demo actually really brought down my excitement for this game. The trailers n stuff have looked so cool and fun to me. But after playing the demo, I do not like the open world part of the game very much at all. And then playing the game traditionally, it just feels the same as always and with all of the great games coming out around the same time, I think I will wait for a nice sale.

@GADG3Tx87 SF5 did not release on Xbox at all. No sense in pretending that wasn't Sony's doing. This 6-day delay (for Xbox and PC, BTW) is completely within their doing and fits their M.O. Sony has exhibited a propensity for this type of thing. From small scale to large scale interference. It is irrefutable. They are pathological at this point.

We were drifting happily towards a pleasing evolution of 3rd party games launching on the two similar consoles and PC. Sony has been putting up heavy resistance, trying to drag things back to the PS2 days. Some 3rd party exclusives here and there are expected but come on.

@Banjo- Square Enix not makin games for Xbox is nothing to do with Sony. Square Enix openly said they chose not to release on Xbox as Xbox game sales don’t warrant the extra work. The games you mentioned that were PS timed exclusives were so because Sony an the devs struck up the deal. This isn’t a new thing. Xbox did the same in 360 days when Xbox player base was similar to Playstation’s. Atari 2600 was the first console to have timed exclusives.
