I do love gaming on a TV, but my deck has just become my go to now, due to it's versatility and the fact I can cloud game and stream from my PS5 (plus connect to my TV) and play that way. Ultimately, this could be the future of gaming.
Yeah they smashed this out the park, felt like MS of old for sure, I can remember those days like it was yesterday and it was always magical this time of year. Over the years gaming in general has been so stagent and since E3 was abolished, nothing has quite been the same. but kudos to who ever did the lineup on this one, not just the games, but everything just ran so smoothly and consistently. Credit is where credit is due.
Tbh, nothing shocks me here in the slightest. It's been gearing towards something huge for quite some time. I think people forget the One announcement and how they wanted it all digitally and everyone went nuts. They just shot too early and now it's happening, but slowly. I've been using the cloud software on my deck, and for me.. it's quality. Runs perfectly and you wouldn't think it would. So for me, that's the future, wether we like it or not.
Id bet on Xbox going down the switch route. Something handheld, using the current Xbox UI that can connect to a TV. That way as it would technically be a PC, you should use other storefronts. Probably called Xbox still, but just different.
I agree with most, the games are where the issues are, no games = no marketing. you can't market the series x without a game coming up, if I saw a advert somewhere for series X showcasing games that came out last year, I wouldn't take notice. Really, they would definitely be better off remastering some old games, ala like Halo MCC. Not ideal by any means, but it gives something for gamers to look forward to and would run from a lower budget. The back catalogue is huge! And also very good. Xbox has been the same for years now, unfortunately no plans and no direction.
I think everyone needs to realise what makes Microsoft money. Even "if" every game from the umbrella goes to the switch and playstation, they will most likely want that via gamepass. That's the future of Microsoft. Yes.. consoles will still be created with gamepass in mind and extra functions to make it worthwhile, but gamepass is where the money is for them and they require games on that service to generate subscriptions. Who knows, Switch may well get an app with all that included, and you can subscribe accordingly. Id imagine it would work the same way as PC and Xbox (i.e two separate subs) and if they got PS on board. They would indeed be on every screen available. I think that's the future route for sure. It's just wether other companies want it. For playstation and switch, it's technically a no brainer.
I think it will be just a few games, I can't see Microsoft shifting games like Forza, Halo, Gears over. I can see star field making the shift, people do need to remember, it's business.. games cost millions to make and I can't imagine game pass is making enough money to cover those costs for some larger hitters, so making those multiplatform will allow a higher increase in income. (In turn. Providing more funds for other games) it could be a blessing in disguise. We already know playstation is selling consoles 2/1 against the Xbox and the switch has a ridiculous consumer base. That's potentially some large revenue to be had.
I wouldn't jump the gun at all. I genuinely believe some games will become multiplatform, but this isn't really anything new as such. They have always said it would be done on a case by case basis (since the Bethesda buyout) so that's what I truly expect. But I do agree that they should be just nipped it in the bud, bad decision after bad decision at Microsoft, since the One reveal they just haven't been the same. It could go either way for sure, but I don't think it will be the end of Xbox. (Not yet anyway) I mean, Sega did take a similar approach as they just couldn't keep up.
@GuyinPA75 I never said it was a good idea. I'm against it. Hence why I don't own an Xbox or have game pass. Unfortunately nothing has got me back yet.
Tbh, if you have an Xbox, it's likely you have game pass. Why store physical disks, especially games published by Microsoft. They probably can't shift them.
Salty. While it's a good game in its own right, it definitely does not deserve an award. Unfortunately it's come out the same year there has been an abundance for incredible games. And all of those games, Reviewed and are technically and written far better. If this came out last year it would have stood a chance.
Good. Unless it's a dev who is incredibly financially unstable I'd rather keep them all separate. Too much of a monopoly will just kill gaming for everyone. Plus when these big corpos get there grubby mitts on great talent, very rarely do games get better. Usually worse (i.e Bioware, Rare, just to name a few)
Honestly I don't read too much in this, it's great for Xbox, but let's not forget that this was in development prior to the buyout. This is all Bethesda. Let's wait and see how the next game turns out, that way MS will have had their fingers in the pie from the beginning.
I suppose the issue for them, is parity. If something is being released on X, it also has to work as is on the S. So when one gets delayed, it effectively holds the other back. So cutting that content, basically makes this an inferior product to the ps5 and PC. (Resulting in less sales and evidently a worse review score) Microsoft would be better off implementing a separate code release, so games can be released separately against either console. But I suppose that would effectively make the S redundant. (And old gen) unfortunately we all knew this would happen.
Jim just wants his cake, like anything you can't have everything. I mean, if you have warranted reasons then fair enough, but you can't just expect a competitor to put their now "exclusives" on your platform. Sony definitely wouldn't be doing that. Phil should have requested a bunch of games in return.
Why would they? Unless they know it's not going to be a big seller, why lose £70 per game. I can't imagine the MS payout would cover all the sales you could make. Obviously this is all depending on the game and how much potential sales it would generate.
While I don't agree with all these companies buying Devs out, In certain situations it 100% works and helps save some. They are a talented bunch and deserve the right to keep creating their art.
@Moonglow why would they keep making consoles if they're not profiting enough? They've already stated they have lost the "console wars" if most of their profit is primarily from Gamepass and cloud gaming is going to take off in the future (which is seems they are banking on) it realistically takes away the requirement for a disk based console. Provide a smaller streaming unit, or.. better add availablity on existing devices, no production required, just tech and servers. This isn't the 90's correct, as this option would have never existed. We can all remember the original Xbox one announcement, DRM, always online - realistically this has always been their path, they were just too early into that game.
I just wish they continued with the original plan they had with the Xbox and 360 era. So many great internal games created. I can honestly see Xbox doing a Sega eventually. Jumping out the market, but keeping gamepass going, surely that's where they see the true value, and could technically operate everywhere if the console isn't an issue.
I LOVED zero on the 360, one of the first games I picked up with the system. While it got mixed reviews I can just remember how good it looked and how difficult those achievements were! Haha
Not a lot of games I'm overly interested in (that are coming up for release) so I would say a D, the games did look good though. However, lots of CGI trailers and no dates which is pretty dull, but seems standard... starfield however looks very good, very impressive.
They know as we do, they need to smash this out of the park. After everything else that's been shown, the ball is in the MS court. And if they can provide some solid release dates and real time gameplay for games up until next march, I think they will get people going. If they can get a good showing for starfield, a release date for Forza (both this year) and maybe one for early next year - like Hellblade 2 (with a date) that's a good platform to work with. They could even do a gears collection too, remastered originals. And maybe just an insight to how other games are developing but no time frames.
@Chaudy definitely mate! They really need those releases this year, but they all need to be top tier. But in terms of Activision, I'm quietly confident. Ive thought the same in the past but they have ended up being rather awful. So hopefully lessons have been learnt and they can really expand and develop well this time.
I enjoyed it, it's not going to knock your socks off, but like anything that's free, it's a nice game to play. If however, this was a full priced game.. I would have been a different story. But you have to give kudos to the dev for being a little incentive with it.
Don't all complain when they ruin COD.. haha, no seriously fair play, I do hope they really learn from their previous mistakes if everything goes through on this takeover. I honestly believe team green could have some great potential, and has just been underused all these years, I'd love to relive those original Xbox and 360 days.
The biggest difference being Zelda has been going for years and this is based on one of the already greats, to expect a new IP to even reach those greats is quite a reach. Plus, the last great game Bethesda made was indeed Skyrim. I think too much pressure will crash this game, hype kills releases. Hopefully it at least is sitting close to a 8 or 9/10. That would be a success in my opinion.
I think the most worrying part of this game, is that someone has let it be released. Clearly was not in a ready state, but they green lit it. I honestly think someone here needs a good look at themselves and change their approach to how and when games should release. (But now it's acceptable) what they say and do is two different things.. it's all about profits and always will be. Sony are no different. The whole gaming market is awful and it's generally lost its identity.
I don't think Sony stand a chance in blocking this, I know it doesn't suit them but they should just accept it, move on and start to focus on themselves and the people who invest in the playstation. Otherwise, it will get accepted. MS will say screw you and they will end up losing the all mighty COD. Anyone would think call of duty was some high god in life..
Who knows how this will turn out. Their games are usually very very good. Just a little buggy, I think if they can nail it down completely it should be a very good game. And tbh, they actually need to have that golden game. I think after 76 and how that was released, they need to prove a point.
Tbh, if you only played certain games, like COD or FIFA, you would definitely switch. But I think the average gamer probably wouldn't. It all depends on how important that particular game is to you. I know some people who play nothing but games like COD. Multiplayer focused shooter. So yeah, of course they will, especially if their friends did the same. But we could say the same for any game.

Honestly doesn't matter if Microsoft get ABK or not tbh. (They will of course) but unfortunately their track record isn't great and usually tend to ruin franchises. I would put money on alot of internal staff moving on eventually and COD becoming a former shadow of itself. How many developers and games have actually succeeded under their rein? Not a huge amount unfortunately. Realistically, they need to evaluate their departments and staff and start look at old IP's to ressurect. Damage was done from the One generation and they have really struggled to find some form again.
