Re: Star Wars Outlaws Compared Across Switch 2 & Xbox Series S, And The Results Are Interesting

ElkinFencer10

I picked up the game on Switch 2 even though I have a Series X and a PS5 (I can't help it; I'm a Nintendo guy at heart), and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the look and performance. It's definitely a big step down from what my two higher power consoles could do, but it's a fantastic Star Wars experience nonetheless. I hate Ubisoft as a business, but this seems to a game with no bad verison, and that's a breath of fresh air.

Re: Switch 2 Tech Specs Revealed, Here's How They Compare To Xbox Series X|S

ElkinFencer10

What's also important to note, which a lot of people forget about when we do these kinds of comparisons, is that the Switch 2 is a handheld while the Series S is a home console. When you take that inherent difference in design philosophy, the Switch 2 vs Series S comparison becomes a little apples to oranges, in my opinion. And at the end of the day, these are game consoles; what's most important is not the raw power of the specs but the gameplay experiences that each can offer. Xbox can offer me smoother and prettier gameplay on my couch; Switch 2 can offer me console experiences on a bus or plane or doctor's office waiting room. I will proudly have both in my gaming lineup.

Re: Gears Of War: Reloaded Is Getting The Free Upgrade Treatment On Xbox

ElkinFencer10

@BAMozzy If there were some inherent difference in how physical and digital games have to handle this type of upgrade, I wouldn't be able to play the Series X versions of Cyberpunk, Doom Eternal, or The Witcher 3 with my Xbox One discs. It's a conscious decision by Microsoft despite precedent to the contrary, not some inherent disadvantage of physical media. All they'd need to do is have the Xbox store detect the Gears Ultimate disc and apply a 100% discount to the download of the remaster's remaster and continue having the disc required for play. Literally just do what Nintendo is doing with the Switch 2 game-key cards.

Re: Xbox Is Raising The Price Of Consoles, Games And Accessories

ElkinFencer10

@carlos82 This. Nintendo wasn't being greedy with the Switch 2, Sony wasn't being greedy with the PS5 price increase, and Microsoft isn't being greedy with this price increase. It's just the economic reality of the world right now, especially in the United States. We don't have to like it - I certainly don't - but we ought not delude ourselves into thinking this isn't a reasonable and rational thing for these companies to do in the face of inflation and rising production and import costs.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2's Crazy Game Prices Could Be Terrible News For Xbox Fans

ElkinFencer10

Does this suck? Yes, egregiously. Is it shocking? Not really when you consider that inflation in most of the world - especially in the West - has been pretty high for most of the past few years. I'm quite surprised they're going for $80, not $70, but I wouldn't shocked. Remember that Virtua Racing released for $100 on Genesis in 1994, and that's over $200 in today's money.

Re: So Long, And Thanks for All the Clicks

Thanks for all your hard work, guys. PureXbox has been great, and I'll be sad that my daily news check will drop to just NintendoLife and PushSquare; having all three made it feel complete. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Re: Review: Quantum Break (Xbox One)

ElkinFencer10

I'm only a couple hours in, and I'm enjoy it so far, but as of right now, I'd probably give it a 7. It's a good game, but in addition to the visual imperfections noted, I've noticed some framerate drops as well. Nothing that egregious or anything, but noticeable.

Re: Spencer Fully Expects Microsoft to Make Another Xbox Console

ElkinFencer10

I vote for Xbox Alpha for the next Xbox's name. I'm really glad about this because, as a console collector, I was seriously afraid that Nintendo would be the only ones to release a 9th gen console. If Xbox is staying in, though, then that all but ensures that Playstation will, as well.

Also, people seem to misunderstand - albeit understandably so - how long the normal console generation is. Granted, the industry has a changed a lot, but Nintendo isn't releasing a new console early with the NX; it's right on schedule. The normal lifespan of a console is between 5 and 7 years. Some, like the Xbox, last less than that (it had a 4 year life span), and some, like the Xbox 360, last more than that (it had an 8 year life span), but if my guess is correct for the a 2017 launch for the NX, that will fit perfectly into Nintendo's normal console lifespan of 5 years (except for it's two juggernauts, the Wii and NES, which had 6 year life spans in North America). That's a bit off topic, but my point with all that was that I'm expecting to see a new Xbox and Playstation around 2019.

Re: Review: Wasteland 2: Director's Cut (Xbox One)

ElkinFencer10

This is an AMAZING game, and I sank 20 or 30 hours into it without a single regret - one of the few games that I've actually played to completion. My only grip (and admittedly, I played it on PS4, so I don't know if the Xbox One has the same problem) is that it crashed on me a lot. The game probably crashed entirely 20 or 30 times during my playthrough. With the frequency of autosaves and the ease of quick saving, though, it's a minor gripe.

Re: Review: Forza Motorsport 6 (Xbox One)

ElkinFencer10

Forza 5 was....lazy, I felt. It felt like Microtransaction Simulator 2013, and for a $60 game, I'm not okay with that. I'm not a driving sim fanatic anyway, so I'll wait and see how Forza 6 turns out in the months after release, so while I'm hopeful this will get back to the enjoyment I had in Forza 4, it's not very high on my wish list.

Re: Review: Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Xbox One)

ElkinFencer10

@sinalefa
If it were the whole series (or even just the original trilogy), I'd DEFINITELY buy it. Between its being just the first game and still only running at 30 fps, though, I'm not jumping at this. Maybe when it's cheaper used, but I'm not paying $40 for a game I already have if there's no framerate improvement. The Last of Us Remastered, for example, went from 720p and 30 fps to 1080p and 60 fps. That was worth it in my opinion, but not if they're keeping the lower framerate.

Re: Review: ZOMBI (Xbox One)

ElkinFencer10

I LOVED ZombiU and picked it up on launch day along with my Wii U. While the game is a lot of fun, this does look like an extremely sloppy port. From what I've seen in comparison videos, the graphics are pretty much identical (while I have no problems with the Wii U's graphical abilities, it was a launch title that's been ported to a MUCH more powerful console after 3 years; they shouldn't look the same). Add to that the loss of the second screen which, in my opinion, made the game stand out from the crowd and added a great, unique charm to it; as well as the local multiplayer - arguably the best part of the game in terms of replay value - and I'm left asking "What's the point?"

Don't get me wrong, for those who only have a PS4 or an Xbox One, I'm glad they get to the play the game, but the Wii U is definitely going to shine through as the best console to play this on. Hardware superiority or not, the game was designed specifically for Wii U; a sloppy port to another system can't top the original.

Re: E3 2015: Xbox One Backward Compatibility Confirmed

ElkinFencer10

@SuperKMx
Poppycock. The Atari 7800, Sega Genesis, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Wii, Wii U, and every Nintendo handheld have all had full backwards compatibility. It's just a matter of adding compatibility with old games; there's nothing new to be published.

Re: E3 2015: Xbox One Backward Compatibility Confirmed

ElkinFencer10

Not only should this have been a feature available since day one, but they're half-assing it just like they did with the 360's backwards compatibility. I'm glad they're doing SOMETHING, and it's better than the PS4 has, but I'm definitely not impressed. It's like a kid who spends a whole semester failing a class and then brings his grade up to a D - yeah, it's definitely a welcome improvement, but it's still not impressive.
