This is...laughable. In a really sad "Why the hell does anyone believe this?" kind of way. As has been said, I have no doubt that it will increase CPU and GPU performance a bit, but not that much. Good lord.
Forza 5 was....lazy, I felt. It felt like Microtransaction Simulator 2013, and for a $60 game, I'm not okay with that. I'm not a driving sim fanatic anyway, so I'll wait and see how Forza 6 turns out in the months after release, so while I'm hopeful this will get back to the enjoyment I had in Forza 4, it's not very high on my wish list.
@sinalefa If it were the whole series (or even just the original trilogy), I'd DEFINITELY buy it. Between its being just the first game and still only running at 30 fps, though, I'm not jumping at this. Maybe when it's cheaper used, but I'm not paying $40 for a game I already have if there's no framerate improvement. The Last of Us Remastered, for example, went from 720p and 30 fps to 1080p and 60 fps. That was worth it in my opinion, but not if they're keeping the lower framerate.
I LOVED ZombiU and picked it up on launch day along with my Wii U. While the game is a lot of fun, this does look like an extremely sloppy port. From what I've seen in comparison videos, the graphics are pretty much identical (while I have no problems with the Wii U's graphical abilities, it was a launch title that's been ported to a MUCH more powerful console after 3 years; they shouldn't look the same). Add to that the loss of the second screen which, in my opinion, made the game stand out from the crowd and added a great, unique charm to it; as well as the local multiplayer - arguably the best part of the game in terms of replay value - and I'm left asking "What's the point?"
Don't get me wrong, for those who only have a PS4 or an Xbox One, I'm glad they get to the play the game, but the Wii U is definitely going to shine through as the best console to play this on. Hardware superiority or not, the game was designed specifically for Wii U; a sloppy port to another system can't top the original.
The environments and lighting are definitely MUCH better on Xbox One, but honestly, I'm not a big fan of the character model blurring in the Xbox One version. I understand it's a stylistic choice, but I'm not crazy about it personally.
@SuperKMx Poppycock. The Atari 7800, Sega Genesis, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Wii, Wii U, and every Nintendo handheld have all had full backwards compatibility. It's just a matter of adding compatibility with old games; there's nothing new to be published.
Not only should this have been a feature available since day one, but they're half-assing it just like they did with the 360's backwards compatibility. I'm glad they're doing SOMETHING, and it's better than the PS4 has, but I'm definitely not impressed. It's like a kid who spends a whole semester failing a class and then brings his grade up to a D - yeah, it's definitely a welcome improvement, but it's still not impressive.
The lackluster graphics kept in line with Ubisoft's trend for launch titles; they always have graphics FAR below a system's capabilities for launch titles. Even with in the context of the Wii, which (as much as I love mine) isn't a graphical powerhouse, Red Steel was a muddled mess.
ZombiU wasn't a groundbreaking survival horror game on its own, BUT the use the gamepad made it remarkable. The way the gamepad was used and the way they implemented the permanent death made it fantastic. Unless they make the SmartGlass (or Vita in the case of PS4) work EXACTLY like the Wii U gamepad did, then yeah, it will just be another subpar survival horror game.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi I echo your thoughts exactly. The controller is great as it is EXCEPT for removing the headset (I wish the control sticks were symmetrical instead of diagonal, but that's a personal preference, not a problem to be "fixed"). A 3.5 mm jack like the PS4 controller or Wii U gamepad would certainly be ideal.
@SuperKMx You've had better luck than I, then. I had an overall fine experience when my Xbox One died (though I could have done without telling me to try the same thing over and over again for three hours), but my friends and I all had HORRENDOUS experience with the 360, spending hours if not days (on and off, obviously) arguing with them about the warranty and what counted as a hardware failure and what didn't. I'm certainly glad you've had good experience, and like I said originally, I only have my experience and the experiences of my friends go on with customer service, but from that experience, I've been left with a bad taste in my mouth. I hope I'm just the unfortunate exception.
Oh, no, $15 isn't bad for a game. I meant if they made you buy digitally instead of physically (since that would pocket way more money for Microsoft). To be honest, though, I think Microsoft is terribly money grubbing between the bullshit proprietary hard drives for the 360, the fees for Xbox Live (the only service that charged a fee for a long time and still the highest fees), and the less-than-stellar customer service (at least from my experience and my friends' experience).
When you say loaded, does that include those of us who bought it physically? I never know with Microsoft and their money grubbing....I mean, I'll get it either way, but I'd be great not to have to pay extra just because I bought the disc instead of the download.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi I understand that, and for those of us who remember the short-lived glory and fall of the Dreamcast, that's certainly an understandable fear, but all three companies are financially sound whereas Sega had been bleeding money for years (it's true the Sony isn't in the best financial situation, but the Playstation brand is just raking in money).
If any fans should be concerned, it's we Wii U fans. PS4 and Xbox One are both selling fine, but even with the Wii U's not in any danger of folding. If the Wii U is safe from collapse, PS4 and Xbox One fans have nothing to worry about no matter what sales do. That's just my view of things, though, and I don't claim to be a marketing expert.
I'll say here what I said on PushSquare's article about this.
Does it really matter who sells more? Just enjoy your games, whatever your console of choice may be. I have all three, but my preference is Wii U, so that's what I buy most games for and what I play most. I don't really care that it doesn't hold a candle to Xbox One or PS4 sales; my enjoyment isn't dependent on its success relative to its competitors. The same should go for PS4 fans with this report. The console war really needs to end, yo; the only good console war was the Super Nintendo vs the Genesis, anyway.
tl;dr - sales shouldn't matter to gamers. Play the games you like on the system you like, and to hell with what other people buy.
@shonenjump86 I usually always get mutliplats on the system I like the most (which, for me, is always Wii U), but the mention of Battletoads convinced me to break that rule for this game. I was actually like fifteen minutes from downloading it on my Wii U when I read the articles that they were being included over on NintendoLife.

I loved those indie games. Most were crap, but they were the hilariously awesome kind of crap.

Bayonetta 2 will never come to Xbox One or Playstation 4 ; Nintendo funded the game, so they rightfully get to keep it as a Wii U exclusive.
