After landing on Xbox consoles a year ago, Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy is finally getting its free Xbox Series X|S upgrade next week - bringing a host of current-gen console enhancements to the first three Stalker games on Xbox.

Those console enhancements include native 4K and both 60FPS / 120FPS gameplay modes on Xbox Series X, alongside "optimized performance and visuals, with a range of quality modes for Xbox Series S". The three titles are getting some under-the-hood upgrades as well, which we'll detail down below.

The Legends of the Zone trilogy Enhanced Edition brings the classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles back with visual upgrades, console enhancements, and more to give both newcomers and long-time fans a current-gen experience. This includes:

  • Upgraded visuals: New lighting, reflections, textures, shaders, and 4K cinematics bring the Zone to life like never before.

  • Console enhancements: Native 4K with both 60 FPS and 120 FPS modes for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro. Optimized performance and visuals, with a range of quality modes for Xbox Series S. Support for keyboard and mouse, and Mod.io integration.

  • PC improvements: Steam Deck compatibility, mod support, and Xbox & PlayStation controller compatibility for PC.

This all arrives for Xbox Series X|S consoles on May 20th, and will be a free upgrade for those who purchased the original Xbox One release last year. PC players will also be eligible for a free upgrade if they own the original Stalker games on the platform.

Speaking of which, we went hands on with that release when it first dropped - and came away pretty impressed by the team's console conversion. It wasn't perfect though, so we're hoping that this upcoming enhanced edition suitably smooths things over on Xbox Series X|S next week.
