Re: Rumour: Xbox Exclusive Hi-Fi RUSH 'Didn't Make The Money It Needed To Make'

Dezzy70

Surely game pass subscriptions should be brought into play here.
If they say they have not made as much money in sales then that is obvious why game pass.

If game pass subscriptions have been included in compensation along with sales and they still made less money than they should have done.
Then the system as a whole maybe not working for Microsoft.
It depends how they calculate game pass subscriptions costs into what may have been games sold.

Personally I think the whole costs things is bank rolled by rich Microsoft for now and they need more full paying subscribers until they break even or make a profit on overall costs.
If it doesn’t all work out going forward there may come a point when Microsoft have enough of back rolling the whole thing and stop doing it.

The excited voice inside my head likes to think since the release of this generation all of sudden Xbox are going to blossom, big AAA must have games. Pioneering game play and IPs etc. Basically the 360 days.
But as each year goes by nothing really happens and Microsoft become Xbox own worst enemy.

Sony and Nintendo have not done to much magical, don’t offer a full Gamepass equivalent.
Been a bit quiet at times. Sony better last year and probably Nintendo better this year.

Imagine if Sony and Nintendo really got their act together simultaneously and for about three years back to back. Xbox would be flattened.

And please no one tell me the below is ok and healthy for a new console starting it’s third year.
Also with the most powerful console and the most cheapest console of all the manufacturers.

Worldwide for March 2023 compared to 2022.
Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 343,537 units (-38.2%).
And third world wide March 2023
2:1 compared to Switch.
4:1 compared to PS5.

If game pass was that wanted by everyone the Xbox console would be selling a lot better.
No it isn’t people would rather pay for games on switch and PS5, simple as that.

Re: 'No Xbox' Begins Trending On Twitter As Another Game Skips The Platform At Launch

@PsBoxSwitchOwner
Because they have lost any main momentum and are not trendy and useful as a games creator.

The switch has its characters and main games and family games and a hybrid console.
Has masses of PR etc.

Sony is the trendy kid to own and has some big AAA titles and is the main playground chat with COD and FIFA. Very good PR and advertising.

Xbox, basically has none of the above that gets the general public on board. General public don’t care about game pass and don’t even know about it really.
Xbox just brings up the rear with some hardcore fans and the main geeky gang and picks of a few general public.
Xbox still will never move beyond that currently in my opinion and sales show this with month on month less sales in 2023 than in 2022.

@NEStalgia
True, I’m an evergreen Mario platform , MK, Zelda, splatoon and the odd other title like Luigi and Yoshi game buyer mainly. Not forgetting Metroid prime remake 😂
You know me the big AAA game player only, same with all my consoles 😂. So they all get treated the same way no preference. You give me the big AAA banger games on whatever console I will normally be playing it.
Some of it is having time, like I have not turned a console on since last Friday so nearly a week now.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

@NEStalgia
Please no one on here get me wrong.
I would love to be proved wrong and we get those top end Xbox AAA games showing us what the series x and their studios can really do when asked to and managed well.

I want more than anything to be proved wrong and I would actually love to proved wrong in the very near future.

But I don’t think it is the direction Microsoft have planned for Xbox. It’s more a service game pass with mediocre AAA type games to keep feeding the service. On as many platforms as possible taking up the development time of the game.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@NEStalgia
I just remember them in an amazing way with amazing AAA games mainly in the 360 days but also the original Xbox days and even a bit in the Xbox one days.
I guess I just get frustrated that they still have the studios some of them and new ones and of course the powerful series x and are not coming close to the greatness AAA top end game wise compared to the 360 days.
In those terms I see it as such a dam waste and shame for the xbox brand and the games we don’t get nowadays to play.

It’s like they don’t really want to make those games anymore and probably don’t manage their studios to, so to me it’s a waste of development talent.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Now tell me Microsoft haven’t got their xbox division in order.
USA month of March 2023, compared to March 2022 USA.
Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 224,884 units (-38.0%).
They came third overall in USA March 2023 as I predicted yesterday.
This is xbox home turf and patch as well.
Don’t ask about Europe and Japan.

They have lost the general public and gamer momentum and enthusiasm for the brand.
They have a massive up hill battle, a lot than at the start of this new generation 2 years and 4 months ago.

@Sebatrox
The series x as hardware and some features like quick resume is an amazing console, so compact and powerful. The best console there is.

The rest GUI and software is a complete 180 for me. Shame such a waste of amazing hardware.
Just my opinion. Please remember I’m a big new AAA gamer mainly the likes of HFW or BOTW or Assassin creed or Forza Horizon 5.
So I think with my passion for the Xbox360 days and big AAA Xbox exclusives etc, you may understand my passionate disappointment in Xbox this generation.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Weekly Hardware 01 Apr 2023
USA. Europe. Japan.
PS5 TBA 111.1k 34.7k TBA
NS TBA 55.8k 56.6k TBA
XS TBA 28.8k 0.6k TBA
PS4 TBA 0.9k 1.5k TBA

So the first week of April begins for Xbox
The same as the other months in 2023.
Down in third outsold at least 2:1 by Switch and loads by PS5.
It’s not even close and you should see the month of March 2023.
NPD for America tomorrow and third there as well.
That’s what Microsoft have done to Xbox, go love them some more whilst then ruin our once beloved Xbox brand.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

@old-dad
Absolutely spot on can’t wait for TOTK.
The thing with Xbox they are stuck in the middle of Sony and Nintendo and can’t develop either.
Their own studios can’t seem to produce a big banger AAA like GOWR all attention grabbing and a show piece etc.
And they can’t develop a game of the likes of gameplay and imagination of Mario Odyssey or Zelda at a lower graphical level.

They are in this weird get the game whack it out on game pass and also have to deal with development for series s and series x and PC and cloud gaming all at once.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Sebatrox
Don’t care for PSVR2 don’t like it can’t play it motion sickness and why should I buy something I don’t like. Don’t care if it flops, if it does then Sony should have known their market better and not bothered.
And it’s not a mistake to have enjoyed so many gaming moments on Xbox especially Xbox360 and even Xbox one days and seen what almost absolute trash they have been turned into take 2022 what a joke and they not doing any better this year.
Sorry I’m wrong the only thing they have done good at this year is lose sales year on year and month on month in 2023 world wide and stayed a very low third like by a lot.
Xbox ain’t going anywhere this year or in the future.
There is only two gaming companies that most and general public go for Sony and Nintendo.
And that’s Microsoft’s fault. They had it all and blew it and won’t get it back, the only slim chance and only way is actually doing what they are trying to do. If you can’t beat them buy them.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Kaloudz
This is why some developers have a bit of bother with series x console.

the split RAM pool of the series x does not help some developers.
PS5 RAM:
16GB GDDR6/256-bit
448GB/s Bandwidth
Series x RAM:
10GB @ 560 GB/s, 6GB @ 336 GB/s
See above the series x split RAM even though the first 10gb is faster than PS5 causes allocation issues when using the slower 6gb.
They should have had just one 16gb RAM pool unified. It helps with development.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Sebatrox
Don’t care for PSVR2, care what Xbox have done to Xbox over the years.
Take the Redfall 30fps saga. Yes of course series x can easy do it and probably at native 4K. The graphics are not up to much really.
But Xbox stretch their studios to far and miss manage them.
Redfall I think has to work single player and multiplayer.
Series s and series x, pc and cloud devices etc.

No wonder they don’t get a top AAA out the door in the way others do. So they end being their own worst enemy and doing more damage and good to the once beloved Xbox brand I once knew.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Trmn8r
If optimised correctly yes it should do.
But Xbox studios are yet to give us a big banger say like HFW and GOWR etc. These are the showcase games that get the PS5 noticed.
Redfall won’t do it and I don’t think Starfield will either.
FH5 did a bit but a bit little niche.
Also Xbox need to PR and to big up their exclusive games and make some showcase stuff.

The graphics don’t even have to be amazing look at Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, BOTW and TOTK coming soon. These games are critically acclaimed and sell consoles and software.

Xbox need something to turn the general public and go I must get an Xbox or game pass.

At the minute and over two years in, it seems so lacklustre and plodding along type approach.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Trmn8r
Yes and no because if the developers struggle
with the split RAM of series x. Which given more time and optimisation can get around. You end up with more development time and cost.
Also considering most third party games sell a lot more on the PS5, what you actually end up with on your TV screen is not as good as it should be on the series x and sometimes sub par to the PS5.

That is the reality of what you see on your TV screen specifications slow or fast.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@Trmn8r
I don’t disagree with you but in practice the split RAM pool of the series x does not help some developers.
PS5 RAM:
16GB GDDR6/256-bit
448GB/s Bandwidth

Series x RAM:
10GB @ 560 GB/s, 6GB @ 336 GB/s

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Xbox Version Described As 'Big Disappointment' In Digital Foundry Tech Review

Dezzy70

@GamingFan4Lyf
Even though the larger RAM pool in the series x is faster than the PS5. There is a smaller RAM pool that is a lot slower in the series x. Both can be called upon by the developers but of course it is a split RAM pool of fast and slow RAM.

The PS5 has one large unified RAM pool all at the same speed no split speed or difference.
Slightly slower than the main series x RAM pool.

The issue I have heard is the series x having two RAM pools one faster than the other is a pain for development over the one large RAM pool of the unified PS5 RAM.

They both have the same amount of RAM it’s just the series x RAM is split into to pools of different speeds and not one speed of unified PS5 RAM.

I did think it daft of Microsoft to design it this way in the first place. I bet it was cost that lead it that way though.
