@carlos82 You are right and I agree about the Microsoft store missing tons of PC games and some Xbox third-party games not being Play Anywhere, like Resident Evil Requiem. However, because the next-gen storefront will be the same for Xbox and PC, it's not going to be crippled like the Microsoft store for the simple fact that publishers have been supporting Xbox greatly for the last two generations despite being the third console, thankfully!
They said that they will be clear and announce platforms when the release date is revealed and that's good to hear!
State of Decay 3 will be multiplatform because it will focus on multiplayer. I don't have an answer for Hellblade III, because Hellblade II was released for PS5 one year later. But wait, they said that there are no timed exclusives, so they had to choose between now or never and decided to port it to PS5. This is definitely better than not knowing if it will be ported later. Hellblade is not multiplayer, so they have other reasons for this one.
The most important thing regarding console exclusives is that they assured that there will be more and that they won't be timed. The latter is important for both Xbox and PS gamers that want to know. Being timed would be speculating with releases. That said, I'm sure that future Gears of War and Halo games will be console exclusives regardless of the "future games in these IPs will be on PS5" before Asha arrived, with the exception being a Halo multiplayer game, as it has been separated from the campaign before.
Of course, as someone that loves backwards compatibility, I'm looking forward to those news more than anything else. Although a huge amount of Xbox 360 games are available and enhanced, I'd like more FPS Boost and more original Xbox games.
I'm always interested in new controllers and hoping that the Elite Series 3 and the next-gen Xbox controller have TMR sticks and triggers. The casual Bluetooth controller prototype looks good, although it's not for me.
@Jaxx420 I forgot the tag and thanks for the suggestion! If I can try it before buying, I will. Another example, I didn't like what was shown of Wolverine's new game for PS5. It seems a gory hack and slash game. I love Doom Eternal which is violent too, but there's something about these games that don't click with me. Actually, I think I liked the demo of Devil May Cry 5 more.
Funny that, after posting my comment, I checked the comments above as I usually do, and realised you and I agreed about the reasons for cancelling Project Mara.
I haven't played a single Devil May Cry game. I played the demo of 5 on Series X, but I'm not sure I like this kind of games. I also played Bayonetta 1 when it was on Game Pass and when it left Game Pass I didn't buy it despite being cheap and not having finished it.
Microsoft should be included in the Guinness World Records book as the only company required to share all its strategies and financial accounts with the world. It's also very suspicious that some supposedly multiplatform gamers are always interested in very specific data from Xbox and not from Sony and always to picture a constant failure scenario, even turning positive news (not this one) into extraordinary drama and faking disappointment, or only react negatively when Xbox cancels games or shut studios down or raise prices as if it was the only one to do so, but don't react when Sony does worse nor when Xbox does positive things.
In my opinion, this makes total sense. I didn't cancel Ultimate, but as I said here when the price was raised, I was already subscribed for a long time and cheaper. It's wise to exclude Call of Duty because we all know is the "culprit". It was already an exception (not included during the first year) in Premium before it was excluded from Ultimate, so I knew something like this would happen. EA Play has been there from the start and maybe it's cheap and great value for Microsoft because EA Sports is always topping the charts, but adding Ubisoft+ and Fornite Crew was not needed.
@Grumblevolcano Xbox is console + PC with cross-buy, cross-play with other platforms and free cloud-saves. There is not a single reason why Steam is more consumer-friendly than Xbox.
I'm not the biggest Hellblade fan and I haven't played more games from this studio that I'm aware of, but I'm going to guess that they are very creative but realised they also need to build an IP now that development is long and expensive and they are not a big studio. I also think that making a third entry now that they know how to use Unreal Engine 5/6 to create incredible graphics will allow them to focus on the gameplay more and make their best game.
@FEmblemFan The reservation system is what makes the most sense to me, because they can check a lot of things in the meantime, while clicking on "buy now" can be done by any human being or bot.
The conditions for having Sony as a publisher are very harsh according to some studios, so I understand that most of them are self-publishing or looking for a third party. Now that the majority of sales are digital, it makes total sense, not to mention they can sell on other platforms as a third-party title.
I wasn't sure if I'd like Persona 5 Royal. It was the first in the series for me. Then, I played 4 Golden, 3 Reload and even the strategy spin-off, and Soul Hackers 2 (another series), all on Series X (Game Pass). I loved them all. 5 Royal is one of the most immersive games that I've played despite the not realistic – and very stylish – graphics. The script and flow are excellent.
@Stocksy I completely agree, but this is not one of those awful things that the three of them do. It's just a new CEO reacting to the top-requested feature by Xbox (not Twitter) users in order to make Series X|S and Helix a competing platform. If this was an article about a cancelled game or closed studio, the drama would be justified and I would complain as well, as I did when they cancelled Perfect Dark. I also praised Crystal Dynamics for trying to save the project and criticised first-party studio The Initiative for being the mess they were years before it was shut down. Those are the important things.
@Skinny-Pete The only people hysterical about this is the Sony fanboys that don't care about Xbox nor Gears of War and that supported then and celebrate now that Sony reportedly cancelled bringing their games to PC and Xbox. I guess Microsoft shouldn't say anything like Sony to avoid these embarrassing and ridiculous reactions. The truth is that this is just overblown on the internet and 99.99999% of the Xbox community don't give a **** about when did Asha cancel the first PS5 ports during her tenure. She just asked Nadella if she could do this and did it, like with Copilot. The remarkable fact is that Nadella lets someone handle Xbox so freely.
@Weebleman That was the last CEO. He was talking about the future of Xbox IPs on PS5, not announcing an specific game. He said the same for future Gears of War games launching on PS5 and Gears of War E-Day won't be released for PS5.
@AI-Generation Series X|S is sold out in many countries. It has been like this for months now. You just need to change the country on their website and check the store.
Basically, he's saying the same, multiplayer games everywhere, games announced for PS5 honoured and all the others depending on that data-driven and strategy-driven approach. Yes, the last CEO said that all games like future Halo and Gears of War entries will be on PS5, either to make PS players buy the first batch or because they believed that it was the way forward, but we know that it won't happen now. I think that the most important things that the three of them are saying is that there will more console exclusives as part of this program and that console exclusives will be definitive and not timed.
@RiverGenie They need to start now defining their plans because Helix is around the corner if it launches next year. I agree with @TheGameThrifter, Xbox is not a console, it's an ecosystem, and next generation, because of the cross-gen period and because the Xbox store will be the same on Helix and PC, they have 1.8b potential customers, on top of their fans playing on Series X|S and Helix. The only question that remains and the only doubt I have is Steam and if it will be available on Helix. It makes sense to publish your games on your own store instead. Steam, Epic and any PC storefront would do the same, but they don't have the most important thing: game studios. To me it wouldn't make sense to publish your first-party games on Steam if you have your own store on Helix and every Windows PC. PC gamers will say that Microsoft Store sucks, but it's going to be overhauled for the next generation, as will Xbox on PC be.
@DJKingaling They will never drop hardware now that their consoles will literally run Windows games.
@IllusiveMan First of all, who is "we"? Secondly, there are things I love and some I don't. I don't need to justify my preferences nor fake outrage to please others. Why would I say what you want to hear? Thirdly, if you respect other people's opinions, don't tag me to rant about me. It's rude and, honestly, I don't care.
This is easily the coolest Xbox trailer I've ever watched. I have no idea how to prevent scalping, but some companies try, so I guess they can copy what worked. Nintendo required users to be subscribed to Nintendo Online for buying a retro controller, for instance. Consoles is at another level, though. There was a teenager selling overpriced PS5 consoles when they were almost impossible to find and he made a fortune. I hope that they find an effective solution. I'd hate not being able to buy this and seeing scalpers ripping fans off on eBay. Some companies sign deals with those sites to prevent this.
@Swandivetotheasphalt The alternative being believing what random people say is not any better. If companies lie, shame on them.
@masofdas I'm going to guess that those games had already a PS version in development, like Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, and they decided to cancel two for now, which is a big decision for a CEO to make after just a few months in charge. This and the way they are supporting the Xbox consoles again is the way to pave the road for the next generation (Helix/PC).
I didn't say they don't, I said that the best-selling games on PS are not Sony's but Call of Duty, Fortnite (DLC), EA Sports, GTA, Minecraft... I usually name Spider-Man 2 as the exception according to Vgchartz. Besides, Sony were the ones that said that they could not support their walled garden with the sales of the single-player games on PS5, weren't they? And they cancelled most service games.
@Daniel1221 Hey, we get Rayman (previously announced), Crazy Taxi, Spyro... I always complain about not enough variety, but this year we got a bit of everything and all genres covered, 2.5D and 3D platform included!
I don't know what the deals with Indiana Jones and Marvel say, because they are not owned by Microsoft, but I think that they are seriously considering The Elder Scrolls VI as a console exclusive. It's not going to be just small games. Exclusivity has a bigger impact with big IPs. It makes total sense, because they won't rely on copies sold on console but on console, PC and Game Pass, and this game will likely launch after Helix (no date confirmed so far), so it will make the most of the more powerful hardware and being featured in the next-gen console-PC store.
@cragis0001 Horizon Zero Dawn hit 4.5 million, but it took five years to hit that number. God of War also took 3 yrs. Forza and Sea of Thieves hit their number in faster period and a far less time. HellDivers is expectation, not the rule, but that game was a cultural phenomenon.
On this thread you have been talking exclusively about sales, not culture. Call of Duty is a greater financial phenomenon than Helldivers on consoles and PC. Black Ops 6 sold 75% on PS5 and 15% on PC. Black Ops 7, considered "a failure", also sold more on PS5, and it was the 5th best-selling game across all platforms in 2025. The reason why Sony-published Helldivers 2 and most of Sony's games don't do that great on PS5 is simply because the best-selling games are Call of Duty, EA Sports, etc. In other words, PS is the most popular console, but Sony's games are not the most popular and, despite that and being released late and buggy, they sell well on PC.
@cragis0001 I joined Xbox with Xbox One so for me Play Anywhere is a natural thing that I liked instantly, mostly because of cross-buy and cross-save features. My laptop was not very powerful and cloud streaming was not a thing then, but I tried Forza Horizon 3 on it right away. Helix is the culmination of that strategy from a decade ago. Funnily, Forza Horizon 3 is the first game I'm going to run on Helix, because it's Play Anywhere and the Windows version supports 60fps.
The truth concerning Sony is that even being the best-selling home console (2.6x according to Vgchartz) doesn't guarantee that your first party lineup will meet the financial expectations in your walled garden, as they admitted. Service games were their big plans but most of them flopped or were cancelled. Sony going back to Steam or setting their own PC storefront up are possible outcomes at this point, if it's true that they are going to focus on "Sony's pedigree" games. We have to guess or wait, because Sony doesn't communicate anything publicly.
@IllusiveMan That's not true. I haven't advocated for multiplatform including PS5 then and for console exclusives now. You are making that up. I have always advocated for Play Anywhere (equals console and PC) since Forza Horizon 3 in 2016, that I think was the first Play Anywhere game I bought. My opinion is the same as it was a decade ago.
Now, I'm on topic about the reasons for their current plan. My opinion is that it makes sense what they are doing, considering that PS5 is apparently (no official statements yet) dropping Xbox and PC ports that they had previously planned and the fact that PS is a walled garden and the main home console around the world. It makes sense for Xbox to reinforce their ecosystem with what they have, games. What's your opinion? I think this is the first time you talk to me, so I have no idea who you are, unless you have multiple accounts.
@AverageGamer If Sea of Thieves has sold 3m on PS5 as you say, congratulations, Rare! The recent articles about the Xbox ports on PS don't list Sea of Thieves for some reason, likely because it's "old". Back then, I read that Sea of Thieves sold 1m on PS, don't know how much since then. The others are all listed around 1m or less. Sales are not the only factor they are considering, though, and both Forza Horizon 5 and Sea of Thieves count as multiplayer/service games.
look at Forza Horizon 5 selling more than Sony's output.
They have also realised that they need to be clear, so they have confirmed that platforms will be announced when the date is announced and, more importantly, they will not backtrack. If a game is not announced for PS, it won't be released for PS. This is very important not just for Xbox users but also for PS users.
Xbox, as the second greatest publisher, needs PC, but they realised that a decade ago. Windows PC has been part of the Xbox first-party lineup since Play Anywhere started on Xbox One in 2016. The part that is intriguing is Steam. Microsoft will overhaul their store because it will be the same for console and PC next generation, but if Steam is the main PC storefront and will be accessible on Helix, they need to do something to not sink under its weight. I don't think that they will reveal their plans regarding that until the next generation is close, but I'm sure they have included Steam along with the PS in their data-driven and strategy-driven approach.
A PS port published by Xbox can be profitable; look at Forza Horizon 5 selling more than Sony's output on PS. However, it's the only port that sold over one million on PS, and it could be affected by the novelty factor. Porting to PS gives the Xbox team the headaches, because Xbox users (Xbox Player Voice is not Twitter) don't see a single PS game on Xbox except Helldivers 2 (published but not developed by Sony), and, at the same time, it's a very risky strategy because it brings additional content to a walled garden that is also owning the market (outside Japan).
Porting the big multiplayer and service games to PS makes sense, because they're a constant source of revenue. As for why some single-player games are coming to PS and some not, this CEO has been in charge for a few months only. Making two games exclusive in such a short time is quite telling. Gears of War E-Day responds to both criteria: data-driven (poor sales on PS5) and strategy-driven (iconic IP), and has never been announced for PS5, which is another (not they only) requirement. One of the most anticipated Xbox games that I think will be exclusive to Xbox (console and PC) is The Elder Scrolls 6.
@AI-Generation It's not a crazy theory. There are reports saying that the same people bought the Xbox ports on PS and that it was partly a novelty. Fable is one of those games that were already announced for PS5 and they are honouring all games that had a PS port announced. Gears of War E-Day has never been announced for PS5.
@datboirsay Yes. Games can sell Xbox consoles, of course! The funny thing is that PS games are not more popular than Xbox games, but the PS itself is the most popular home console with casuals (not meant in a negative way) who mostly play Fortnite, Call of Duty, GTA, EA Sports or Minecraft. It's difficult even for Sony to sell some of their own exclusives in their walled garden to a significant degree, not to mention find success with multiplayer/live games. Not just Sony, only one Xbox port sold over 1 million copies on PS5, the 5 million copies of Forza Horizon 5. Like you said, it's a long-term mission and you need to sacrifice something. It's easy to sacrifice what is probably giving them the headaches because it endangers their own business and alienates a user base that don't see PS games on their console. It's also very easy to keep the big multiplayer games like Call of Duty, Minecraft, Forza Horizon and Sea of Thieves mutiplatform which make more money through sales and engagement.
@Krlozgod @datboirsay That makes sense, but to find long-term stability, they need to build their user base on Xbox and PC. If they include PS5, they're not getting the biggest sales there anyway, but are hurting their ecosystem, because PS is a walled garden that takes but does not give. PS is their main (only) competitor in the hardware business, and hardware also means storefront sales and subscribers. If PS gets everything from their competitor and stops the ports as rumoured, it's basically a monopoly.
@DJKingaling He also said something about being committed to the players, meaning what they had announced previously. It's possible that they come next year and say, "From now on, only big multiplayer and service games (Call of Duty, Minecraft, Sea of Thieves...) will be multiplatform." Actually, he said exactly that, but he also talked about what they have promised/announced. I'm sure that's why Asha didn't acknowledge that part, because her plans are drastic and porting games to PS5 comes from the previous CEO. I also believe that making the PS logo smaller and putting it at the bottom reflects the new strategy of Xbox going forward.
Quoting to be more precise:
We also want to be clear that our big multiplayer games and live service games are going to continue to be multiplatform (...) If we've promised something to players already, we're going to honour that promise.
EDIT:
On Xbox Wire:
These are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan.
@betterthings idTech is designed for Doom and other games would probably not look or run that great. It's often mentioned because it performs really well, but because it's made by them for their game.
@JustinSane Absolutely. It also looked to me as a way to celebrate together that Xbox is back and well, the part of the industry that supports you is who to celebrate with. There's something to celebrate indeed, new CEO, new ideas and good will.
Right, she said "Later this year", so when this edition is on sale, that I'd buy if I didn't have a launch Series X, is when the attenders will get theirs.
our principle is, when we announce the date, we announce the platforms. So, it's going to be case-by-case, but we're going to be clear.
That. Problem solved. Mystery solved. If you really want every Xbox game, you'd better get an Xbox or PC. If you want to know if an Xbox game will come to PS, you'll need to wait for the date announcement.
The second one is probably the best-looking Unreal Engine 5 game, although I think that Keeper should get more attention. Hellblade II was completely linear, gameplay was simplified and some puzzles didn't make sense, but it also has a few epic fights that played well. I suspect that the third one will be a proper game and look stunning.

Re: Three Questions We Still Have After The Incredible Xbox Games Showcase 2026
@Balaam_ That must still being assessed at this point. They'll say that we'll be able to play our PC games on Helix. They have these options:
1) Not include third-party storefronts on Helix.
2) Include third-party storefronts but release their first-party games on their next-gen console-PC Xbox store.
3) Include third-party storefronts and also release their first-party games on them.
The first option would be backtracking but could also be possible.
The second is what makes the most sense to me, even though I don't even have a Steam account and would probably not even use Steam on Helix.
The third option doesn't make any sense to me and doesn't match the data-driven and strategy-driven approach.

Why would I say what you want to hear? Thirdly, if you respect other people's opinions, don't tag me to rant about me. It's rude and, honestly, I don't care.
Re: Microsoft Aims To Ensure Scalpers Don't Ruin Xbox Series X25 Release
@Weebleman Yep, I heard some horror stories.

@J_Mo_Money Lucky you!
Re: Microsoft Aims To Ensure Scalpers Don't Ruin Xbox Series X25 Release
This is easily the coolest Xbox trailer I've ever watched. I have no idea how to prevent scalping, but some companies try, so I guess they can copy what worked. Nintendo required users to be subscribed to Nintendo Online for buying a retro controller, for instance. Consoles is at another level, though. There was a teenager selling overpriced PS5 consoles when they were almost impossible to find and he made a fortune. I hope that they find an effective solution. I'd hate not being able to buy this and seeing scalpers ripping fans off on eBay. Some companies sign deals with those sites to prevent this.
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
@Swandivetotheasphalt
Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2026
@Daniel1221 Hey, we get Rayman (previously announced), Crazy Taxi, Spyro... I always complain about not enough variety, but this year we got a bit of everything and all genres covered, 2.5D and 3D platform included!
Re: Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Console & Controller Announced
@J_Mo_Money Ha! I wouldn't like it green, but I'm loving this translucent green.
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
@AverageGamer
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
@cragis0001 Right, and Helldivers 2 sold way more on PC (13.1m) than on PS5 (5.6m).
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
@McKeownPlayz Like someone said on PS:
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
I was meaning Sony's output on PS5 and not on PC.
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
They have also realised that they need to be clear, so they have confirmed that platforms will be announced when the date is announced and, more importantly, they will not backtrack. If a game is not announced for PS, it won't be released for PS. This is very important not just for Xbox users but also for PS users.
Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives
Re: Xbox Confirms Its Two New Console Exclusives Are Not 'Timed'
@AI-Generation It's not a crazy theory. There are reports saying that the same people bought the Xbox ports on PS and that it was partly a novelty. Fable is one of those games that were already announced for PS5 and they are honouring all games that had a PS port announced. Gears of War E-Day has never been announced for PS5.
Re: Matt Booty Explains Xbox's Plans For Exclusive Games Going Forward
Re: DOOM: The Dark Ages Brings Its 'Revelations' Expansion To Xbox In July
@dreadful His abs were there from the start, but pixelated. 😁
Re: Matt Booty Explains Xbox's Plans For Exclusive Games Going Forward
@DJKingaling Thanks! I like your input, as well.
Re: Matt Booty Explains Xbox's Plans For Exclusive Games Going Forward
@Krlozgod @datboirsay That makes sense, but to find long-term stability, they need to build their user base on Xbox and PC. If they include PS5, they're not getting the biggest sales there anyway, but are hurting their ecosystem, because PS is a walled garden that takes but does not give. PS is their main (only) competitor in the hardware business, and hardware also means storefront sales and subscribers. If PS gets everything from their competitor and stops the ports as rumoured, it's basically a monopoly.
Re: Matt Booty Explains Xbox's Plans For Exclusive Games Going Forward
EDIT:
On Xbox Wire:
Re: DOOM: The Dark Ages Brings Its 'Revelations' Expansion To Xbox In July
@betterthings idTech is designed for Doom and other games would probably not look or run that great. It's often mentioned because it performs really well, but because it's made by them for their game.
Re: Xbox Fans Go Wild As Asha Sharma Gives Free Consoles To Everyone At FanFest LA
Re: Matt Booty Explains Xbox's Plans For Exclusive Games Going Forward
That. Problem solved. Mystery solved. If you really want every Xbox game, you'd better get an Xbox or PC. If you want to know if an Xbox game will come to PS, you'll need to wait for the date announcement.
Re: Senua Brings A 'Different Kind' Of Hellblade Game To Xbox Game Pass In 2027
The second one is probably the best-looking Unreal Engine 5 game, although I think that Keeper should get more attention. Hellblade II was completely linear, gameplay was simplified and some puzzles didn't make sense, but it also has a few epic fights that played well. I suspect that the third one will be a proper game and look stunning.
