Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In August 2025

Nothing screaming must play for me there. Hope something more interesting gets added later in the month.

If you haven't yet, Gears of War is one of the best games you could choose to play.

I'm looking forward to Gears of War Reloaded although I am bummed out about it only being the 1st game. I really wish we had gotten the entire trilogy remastered though, Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 definitely deserve the remastered treatment. That being said I am grateful they have fps boosts and auto HDR making them look and play extremely well on Xbox Series X|S.

Well that's a really poor list as it stands. I have no interest in sports titles, and the farming sim is pretty niche. The other two are just performance boosts, one of which is for a really old game.

I'm sure we'll get some more come through over the coming days and weeks, but right now, that list has nothing on it that would have me subscribe if I weren't already a subscriber...

The strategy refers to "PS Studios software titles", it does not specify "mobile" and "service games" like the last time in that corporate presentation years ago, likely because mobile and service games didn't work for Sony as they expected. Moreover, Sony wouldn't open two job positions specifically for Xbox and PC if this was just a few games: Senior Manager, Platform Sales – Xbox & PC and Manager, Platform Planning & Performance – PC & Xbox.

I'd be shocked if it amounts to anything at all, @Millionski. Even Push state that there's a chance there's nothing to it. Even if Sony are porting more games, it maybe that they will only be going to the Switch and PC, and that the port to the Xbox is for Helldivers, or that only Live Service games will be ported to Xbox at all. Plus, how many, or few, games Sony does port maybe based off how well Helldivers does on the Xbox, and we all know that using a Live Service game as a bench mark won't give the best idea of how their games will do on the Xbox, and that's not counting the fact that the game is already 18 months old, which will do it no favours either.

Personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in this particular story that stems from some random job listing...

Whilst I understand where you are coming from, @Millionski, it isn't Sony that is porting Helldivers 2, Death Stranding, MLB or Final Fantasy. Yes, these games were exclusive to the PlayStation, but they were not made by Sony. Sony just bought exclusive rights for the game (and maybe assisted with development to some extent). It is the actual developers that are porting these games, after the period of exclusivity has ended. Sony basically has no say in the matter.

Do I think it would be relatively easy to port Spiderman or God of War to the Xbox? Absolutely it would, at least in terms of development. However, I really do not think that Sony would want to weather the storm of disapproval from their gamers, and, more importantly, I don't think Sony have any desire at all to give Xbox a leg up. Truthfully, if Sony had any say in it, none of the former PlayStation exclusive games would ever have seen any shade of green at all.

I think people are extrapolating a step too far when it comes to Sony's multi-platform approach. PC and Switch are absolutely on the agenda. Xbox...? Nope...!

@Fiendish-Beaver just to clarify, Arrowhead might not be a Sony/PlayStation-owned studio, but Sony does own the Helldivers IP, so absolutely they would have had a say in Helldivers 2 being ported to Xbox.

And if you now look at Push, @Millionski, they have updated the article stating that people are getting carried away.

Sony have a few more Live Service games in development, and it is more than likely those games that this job listing refers too. Nothing else of any significance, you could safely bet your mortgage on that...!

I agree, @Markatron84, but Arrowhead said a while back that they wanted to bring the game to the Xbox, and as I said, it is a Live Service title so Sony likely consented because of that one factor alone. Live Service titles are a completely different kettle of fish in that they need as many people playing the game in order to keep it alive. The smaller the ecosystems that you try and survive in, the more likely it is to fail. Sony know this, and it is for that reason they have allowed its port. Sony also know that it is a good look for them, particularly after Microsoft is throwing everything Sony's way. The difference is that Microsoft are basically desperate right now, whereas Sony are sitting pretty having convincingly won the console war. Sony know that few people will leave the PlayStation ecosystem in order to join Xbox, whereas Xbox knows that people will quit Xbox in order to join PlayStation. Xbox knows what Microsoft are doing is a bad move, but are powerless to stop it. Nadella simply does not care whether Xbox, as a console, survives what he is pushing. All Nadella cares about is how much money he can make for Microsoft, and right now, it's clear that the most money is to be made on the PlayStation...

The way that the jobs are described (by Sony themselves) tells that Sony will actually rely on the new managers to optimise the release of PlayStation Studios games on Xbox and PC, reporting to the bigwigs, obviously. That's why they are hiring senior managers, to begin with. They wouldn't need these experts to port Helldivers 2 to Xbox, whose release is imminent. The other service games were cancelled. These are big plans, indeed.

This is far more likely to be for their Live Service offerings, @Millionski. They still have Marathon, which is already known to be coming to Xbox.

I think the truth is that people are looking at the games that have come to Xbox, or are coming, and trying their hardest to see this as meaning that Sony are going to open the floodgates. They are literally trying to will this into existence, when the truth couldn't be further away. The only way that we will see Sony put their first-party, non-Live Service, content on the Xbox, is when it ends up on there by accident as a consequence of Microsoft putting out a PC as their next console meaning they can be played via Steam.

People thinking they are going to see the likes of Returnal, God of War, or Spiderman on the Xbox, as a direct port, are setting themselves up for major disappointment as it simply will not happen, not even 2 or 3 years after they came out on the PlayStation...

Very true, @Titntin. People are just trying to manifest a change in Sony's attitude to Xbox, and it simply will not happen...

I might try and save the GoW:R campaign for October.
