Well, we're officially six months down, so it's time for another look at the Metacritic rankings for 2025! It's been a very busy year for new Xbox releases, and even if 2025 were to end today, we'd be pretty happy with this top 10 lineup.
Unsurprisingly, the likes of Split Fiction and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are amongst the guaranteed Xbox Game of the Year contenders, but there are also a few surprises in the mix such as Mullet MadJack and Two Point Museum.
So, let's take a look at what Metacritic is ranking as the best 10 Xbox games of 2025 after six months:
The following list is based on games with at least seven professional reviews for Xbox on Metacritic.
- Split Fiction - 93
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - 91
- Blue Prince - 90
- Monster Hunter Wilds - 90
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - 88
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii - 87
- Two Point Museum - 86
- Mullet MadJack - 86
- Assassin's Creed Shadows - 85
- DOOM: The Dark Ages - 85
As mentioned, these rankings are based on the games with at least seven professional reviews for Xbox on Metacritic, which means they might have scored better or worse for other systems. There are smaller titles that haven't yet received seven reviews on Metacritic either - so those ones don't even have a chance of making the top 10.
If we look beyond the top 10, we find the likes of Elden Ring Nightreign (84), WWE 2K25 (84), The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (83), Ninja Gaiden 2 Black (81), Avowed (81) and South of Midnight (76), just to name a few.
Metacritic never tells the full story with stuff like this, so don't take the top 10 list too seriously, but it's still nice to get an idea of how the reviews have fared over the past six months. Looking ahead, there's plenty of potential for this list to change a lot over the next six months, and it'll be interesting to see if anything can top Split Fiction's average of 93!
