I've dropped everything else this week and only played the fantastic Pragmata - such a good game! I've finished the story and the game really grew on me the whole way. The story and interaction between Hugh and Diana was great, they really nailed Diana as cute and loveable. Also really liked the gameplay and combat, and exploring was fun! Even the virtual training missions was fun 🙂
I havent decided if I'll get the platinum, lunatic difficulty sounds like it might be to much of a hassle to be worth it and I dont want to ruin the very good experience I've had with the game 🧐

Have a great weekend!

Cyberpunk 2077 - So I made the mistake of starting a new game just to see how the PS5 Pro update was and ended up playing for way to long and now I cant drop it half done so I need to finish a quick playthrough 😅The pro update is really, really good and the game looks amazing on Ray Tracing Pro with 40 fps. Love this game!

Pragmata - I´m really enjoying this game, very good imo. It feels fresh, looks great and the gameplay is fun, shooting and hacking works great together, and theres a half interesting story there so far. Also really like the interaction between Hugh and Diana and how you build a relationship to both of them. Havent made it very far, just finished the second area, and Im really looking forward to playing more.

Re: Xbox Is Officially 'Reevaluating' What To Do About Exclusivity

mac_da_man

I say timed exclusives and try and build the playerbase by making Xbox the best place to play Xbox games (also third party games by making awesome hardware) and if they can rebuild the playerbase to be big enough to support exclusivity for Halo, Gears, Fable etc then do it.

Dont expect MS shareholders want to loose money on exclusive Xbox games so dont think going back right now makes sense.

Planet of Lana 2 - finished and platinumed. Really enjoyed this beautiful game, its more of the same but better so if you liked the first game you’ll def like this one. Short and sweet, looks incredible with a nice soundtrack and fun gameplay and puzzles.

Also picked up Pragmata but havent had the time to boot it up yet, but hopefully I’ll find the time to play some later this weekend. Really looking forward to it!

Life is Strange Reunion - finished and platinumed! I'm a bit torn about this game. In the end, its a pretty good game that had some great moments but its also not as good as the first game and it doesnt make me feel all those feelings I got playing all those years ago. Also, changing the ending from the first game isnt the best idea even if they make it work in the story. That ending was a big part of what made the game so good, and the choice that had to be made... anyway, it was good to see Max and Chloe again and if this was to be the last LiS game then fine, I understand the choices they made making this game. Personally I hope we can get some more LiS games with new stories, I like them 🙂

Planet of Lana - Remembered that I had this game to play after reading last weeks comments, so thank you for that! I’ve finished and platinumed the game, and I really enjoyed it. Beautiful, nice story and a pretty nice soundtrack made this a very good game. Its also pretty short which imo suits the game as it would overstay is welcome otherwise. I already have the sequel ready to go but I’ll wait for a week or two before playing 🙂

Life is Strange Reunion - so, after reading and watching some reviews I decided to go for it. I picked bae before bay in the original LiS so that Chloe was back was storywise ok but for my first playthrough I’ve picked the other option (you get to decide the backstory) and I have to say that building on the last game, Double Exposure, they pull the twist that Chloe is around again off better than I expected. So, is the game any good? Yes, I havent finished it yet but I’m enjoying it a lot even if its not nearly as good as the original game. There have been some awesome moments in the game so far though, they’ve always managed to make these in their games. Doe it feel like a money grab? Not really, theres enough of a good story here that even if they’ve used a lot of the same places and people as last game it doesnt really bother me. Should they have left Max and Chloe with the first game? Yeah, it feels good to continue their story but it should have been left with whatever ending we chose in the first game. That was what made is special.
I think I’ll reach the end of the game this weekend, and I’ll probably play through it again immediately with the other backstory.

Have a nice weekend 🙂

Ater a lot of back and forth, I decided to not get Crimson Desert now and let the developers patch it up a bit first. Which is always the best thing to do but then sometimes you just really wanna play a new game when it comes out. It was a real hard decision this one 😅

Metal Eden - so I finished the last of Metal Eden and really enjoyed it. By the end I was hooked by the gameplay, the flow of the game and the fast paced combat is really good imo. But, its also pretty buggy. I ran in to some towards the end and then with the lastest patch I started a new game + but you get softlocked where doors arent opening after a fight like they should, which is game breaking so... Real shame, hope they can fix it sooner rather than later.

Other than that I havent started anything new, I do think I'll get Life is Strange Reunion real soon. I picked bae before bay so it maybe the game makes a little more sense to me than if you picked the other way around. Early reviews seem positive and I really like the LiS games. But, no real rush so I'll wait for some more reviews before buying.

Have a nice weekend!

First off, I finished the Star Wars Oulaws DLC and I had a blast doing so. Love this game and it was great to return to it, and imo its a lot better than for example the user score on metacritic would have you believe. Especially after the patches for the stealth gameplay. Anyway, opinions and all that but for me is a great game!

Im not playing Crimson Desert, cannot bloody decide if I want to play now or wait for patches (which I should). The reviews and YT videos are a bit all over the place. I'm hoping that some of the commenters here will have played it, maybe some feedback from people outside of the business so to speak might help me make a decision.

Instead of Crimson Desert, I’m playing Metal Eden and I'm enjoying it. Its a fast paced, linear action game with good gameplay and fun traversal and interesting setting but its pretty repetetive. Imo its a very solid 7/10 and a perfect game for a service, I dont think I would have picked this up otherwise and I'm happy that I did. I think I'm nearing the end after maybe 6-7 hours of play so its a shorter game and thats ok, it means it doesnt outstay its welcome.

Happy weekend you all!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 14-15)

I'm basically waiting to see if Crimson Desert is a day 1 for me so I'm not starting any new and big right now. I watched The Digital Foundry video on the ps5 pro and the game looks ridiculously fantastic, its almost hard to believe. But looks arent everything so I'll wait for some reviews but I'll probably dive right in nect week 🙂

As for what I've been playing then

Thief VR - I've finished the missions (and story), and really liked playing them. Its a pretty short game, but priced lower, and its built around replayability of the missions so you can get all challenges and such if you like. There is a story but that lost me pretty early and as I wrote last week, I would have loved for them to make it more like a traditional single player Thief game with but then its not an AAA game in that sense. Still, its fun and plays and looks good where it really matters, the missions!

Star Wars Outlaws DLC - I found the DLC was on a sale, so I picked it up and jumped in, starting with Wild Card which I finished last night. I loved this game when it released, imo its a bit overlooked, and it feels great to jump back in. I did a new game to get to play the opening of the game again, which I really enjoy and the gameplay improvements for the stealth sections really makes a difference, and then started the DLC. The first one was pretty good, looking forward to the A Pirates Fortune DLC which I’m starting today! Still love this game 🙂

We'ev been on a skiing trip for most of the week, I brought the Portal so I managed to play a little at least while away and decided to pick up Thief VR yesterday 🙂

First though, I must yet again say that the Portal is amazing and the choice between connecting to your PS5 or play plus games via Cloud is great and both work very well given you have a stable connection. Played some favorite games for a bit and I’m still impressed at how well they run and look on the Portal, but I also played:

Mindseye trial - I've been curious about how bad this game can be, and after about 45 min of the trial I can say its very bad. Mostly because it was marketed as a AAA game but its more like an indie A game. Very generous of the developer to let us try their disastrous game without any extra cost (on ps plus). Try it for yourselves 😅

Thief VR I got this yesterday so I've only played the first two missions but I really like it, it looks and plays good and that thief-feeling is very cool in VR. What I would have liked is some more narrative and cutscenes or something binding the missions together a bit better, now its like they are instances with some chatter between your character and an NPC but I guess thats because its built so you can easily replay the missions when done and get rankings and fulfill objectives etc but I would have loved for it to be more... like a normal single player game I guess. You could have replayability of the missions anyway. Still, I like what I've played and I'm looking forward to more 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Re: Xbox Announces New 'Project Helix' Console, Says It Will Play PC Games

mac_da_man

@themightyant

Thats a lot of games, I totally get that it would be nice to have it all on "one" place. I prefer counch and TV + console but nothing is really keeping me from getting a PC hooked to my TV instead except that its expensive and I dont want all the extra work that comes with PC gaming. And that Playstation changed strategy with their single player games... So if this PXbox is good, nicely priced and has good software I might get one and have a ps5/6 for the exclusives. Could be awesome!

Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC

mac_da_man

@fatpunkslim

For not caring about playstation games, you seem to care an awful lot going by your comments. Sony is in a position where they can do these things now as Xbox is trailing so far behind. It may not be a good thing or something we like, but its better to face the facts and not do some impressive mental gymnastics to try and spin it into something its not.

AC Shadows - Claws of Awaji - I've finished the story content, which was very good and I really enjoyed returning to this game, its awesome imo. Its also story content I feel everyone who finished the game should play, without spoling anything 🙂

Marathon Server Slam - I've played 5-6 rounds and its not a bad game by any means, the gameplay, movement, gun handling and that is very good which is to be expected but then the rest is not as good, UI is a mess and I dont really see myself playing a game like this for very long as I just dont see what would keep me invested in the long run. But its early days and that might change, Im not getting it at release though, but maybe down the line. We'll see.

Other than that, not much gaming this week and next week we're on a skiing trip so I'll be on the Portal but havent decided what to play yet. Hope you all have some tips for me 🙂

A bit of shocking gaming news yesterday with both Spencer and Bond departing Xbox and the boss of AI taking over. Not sure if thats a good thing but time will tell i guess. Anyway, the games we've been playing is why we are here so:

High on life 2 - I've finished the game and I had a blast playing it. There are some very hilarious moments in various missions that had me laughing out loud (of course, its subjective but still). Im also impressed with how different the missions are, not all are brilliant but many are really cool imo. The only complaint I have is that the end part of the game could have been a bit better as it dragged on a bit but other than that, it was a very fun game imo, however its not a five star game without flaws and its certainly not for everyone just so you know. Perfect game to be on a service though 🙂

AC Shadows - Claws of Awaji - I havent really decided what to play next but remembered that I hadnt played Claws of Awaji yet. After a bit of a struggle remembering the controls (I actually managed to die more than once... wtf!) Im back to enjoying this awesome game again. Love it. Its really beautiful and it plays really well, also love to switch between the different playstyles of Yasuke and Naoe. Going to enjoy this revisit 🙂

Have a great weekend!

I've finished and platinumed Fallout 4 since last week, and I've enjoyed it more than I expected. Part of that is that it finally runs good with 60 fps and no lag or super long loading times, it was pretty bad on og ps4 when the save files got big. I also played the Far Harbour DLC, which was very good. Last time around I had to give up due to the suffering it put my poor ps4 through. Now I'm really hoping the next Fallout game focuses more on the story and side missions and exploration, which are the strong points of the game imo. Also hoping we'll get the remasters of Fallout 3 and NV sooner rather than later so I can get lost in the Wasteland again 🙂

High on Life 2 - We've resubbed to Game Pass Ultimate as me and my son both wanted to play this and he also wants to play Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar so I figured its worth a month or two of GPU. Anyway, the game seems pretty good avtually, I'm not far in but I've gotten the skateboard which makes gameplay more fun, the art style is great and the humor is more of the same which is also good (although very dependant on your kind of humor). The performance on the Series S isnt the best though, its not a stable 60 fps but close, but the image is very blurry and glitchy etc and its annoying. Still, the game is fun and the FPS is stable enough to make the game enjoyable so I'll stick with this version 🙂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 7-8)

mac_da_man

Except for trying the Pragmata demo, which is very promising but I'm a bit concerned the hacking while fighting gets old fast, I've paused all other games and only been focusing on:

Fallout 4 - I've been continuing my journey through the wasteland and I'm a bit surprised that I'm enjoying it as much as I do, given the the game suffers from a couple of flaws and imo is weaker than 3 and NV. I think one obvious part of that is that exploring the wasteland is awesome, but also that I dont remember all the details of the story or the different factions, and I have forgotten many of the side quests too and some of them are pretty good and that makes it all feel fresh. I'm at the end of the main story/stories (doing all the endings, then the platinum) but I havent decided which end to stick with. Probably BoS 🙂

Re: Talking Point: One Year Later, How Do You Feel About Xbox RPG Avowed?

mac_da_man

@theduckofdeath

For me things like arrows dissapearing after a few seconds, cups and small things not being interactable etc etc breaks the immersion to much in an RPG, even if other things were fine. Combine that with NPCs standing still all day etc etc it just didnt match my expectations, especially from a developer like Obsidian when these things have been around in RPGs for many, many years.

Re: Talking Point: One Year Later, How Do You Feel About Xbox RPG Avowed?

mac_da_man

It has some strong parts but for me the beautiful but static world and immersive breaking lack of physics and stuff like that made it difficult to enjoy as an RPG, it could have been much better imo. Its also a problem with me having the expectations that those things would be there, instead of going in blind and enjoying the game for what it is. All in all I'd say 6-7/10!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 31 - February 1)

mac_da_man

Its been a bit of a mixed bag since last week

Resildent Evil Village - Despite my weak heart and tiny balls I managed to finish the game 😅 Thank ***** it didnt get worse than House Beneviento as that would have been to much for me... its very hard to play games and hide behind a pillow at the same time 😂 Very happy it dropped on Plus so I could give it a go, very good game and I enjoyed it a lot despite some near heart attacks and such!

I've also given both Arknights Endfield and Highguard a fair try but neither of them is really good enough to be worth my time. They're both pretty okayish games though, so others may like them better than me. Highguard has some potential but for my own part they would need to make some big changes to get me back, the gunplay and worldbuilding was nice though.

Fallout 4 - Watching the show made me want to play Fallout 3 or New Vegas but since the remasters/remakes seems to be years away, I decided to play Fallout 4 instead as I've only played it once before. Its the weakest of the three imo but its nice to play the ps5 version, 60 fps makes the gunplay a lot better and its still great to explore the Wasteland and all that but I also remember why I only played it once. Feels like the first real step in the wrong direction for Bethesda. Hopefully Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 will be ***** awesome and that they've learned their lesson with this and Starfield. But, I'll finish Fallout 4 and might even go for the platinum 🙂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 24-25)

mac_da_man

Cyberpunk 2077 - Finished the Phantom Liberty DLC, which is very good imo, chose two for me new endings and picked the one where you basically go back to Night City and continue from where you were before you went to Dogtown, which was pretty neat as I got to finish the game of with my favorite ending with Panam. As I've said so many times before, this is such an awesome game despite some flaws imo and one of my all time favorites. Probably not the last time I do a full playthrough either 🙂

Resident Evil Village - Perfect game to drop on Plus for me, been close to buying it several times but I've been unsure if I have the balls to play it so figured I'd wait. And thankfully, its not as scary as I feared meaning my tiny balls can handle it, and on top of that its very good. I¨ve met and defeated the tall lady it was so much fuss about some years ago (cant say much about that, I'm all over Panam so... 🙂). Looking forward to continuing the game. But I'm not ***** playing it in VR, that would be the end of me....

Far Cry Blood Dragon - when I need a breather from Resi 8 I've been playing Blood Dragon. The new 60 fps patch was a great excuse to revisit this classic, which has aged a bit but its still very good imo and I like the old school humor in it.
