I love the optimism for Xbox guys! And also drag Sony in to it to take some attention away from the problems Xbox are facing.
I would like to know how Gears E-day does as an exclusive before cheering on more exclusives in the future. I’d rather have a health Xbox with studios than an Xbox bleeding money and having to close studios.
picked up two games after finishing Bond last time 😊
Darwin's Paradox-which I've finished and platinumed. It was a very fun, sometimes a bit frustrating and pretty original platformer. Pretty good humour too, imo. Theres a demo on Playstation at least, I can really recommend trying it. Took me about 6 hours or so, and its priced on the lower side so thats nice too!
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight - So, I used the "I can play this with the kids" excuse with the wife even if I mainly wanted to play it myself but for the love of my balls dont tell her 😬😂 I must say, I'm very surprised at how good this is. I have played it mostly by myself but I have played some shorter sessions with the kids too, which was really fun. It doesnt really play like a Lego game imo (at least not the ones I've played a little bit of here and there), its more like playing Arkham Knight in Lego form. Sure, the puzzles and such are a bit easier but the combat and exploration and the look of the city is great. The Batcave is also really cool. My only complaint is that its really heavy on the collectibles. Still, really good game and really fun to play!
They def can make Xbox games exclusive, whether or not it ends up a good decision or not will be clear in a year. They went multiplatform for a reason to begin with, but lets hope it works out this time
Cant for the life of me understand why the ***** Xbox management just cant go out and tell the truth, we had code for PS5 ready but decided to go exclusive as part of a new strategy going forward where more games will be exclusives and we'll share which ones with you down the line and then do that. Sends a much stronger message imo.
Anyway, as I already have several Xboxes it doesnt affect me but this wouldnt make me run and buy one if I only had Playstation...
As I’ve said, I like that they are trying exclusives again but I also believe it will be cruicial that Gears move the needle for consoles and subscriptions. And if it doesnt move it enough, they better not punish the developer!
007 First Light - I've earned my number, and my platinum. And its been awesome to do so. Really enjoyed this game, it was so much fun to play. The developer mixed the slow parts with the action, witty humour with serious and emotional moments and everything in between in a really good way! This will be a game I'll return to every now and then, and I'm also really looking forward to more Bond in the future.
And as so often after finishing a great game, I'm having some trouble starting or even deciding on the next game to play. Hoping for some inspiration from you all 🙂
@darylb24 I would love for XBOX to be a serious contender in the console space in the future but the problem is they’ve already tried that with exclusives and gamepass and it still didnt work. I just dont see how they could make it work this time, or want to spend the money trying when they can be a great, moneymaking publisher instead.
I see a lot of wishful thinking in the comments. And i get it. But MS and XBOX are a business and going back to exclusives would mean leaving to much money on the table, maybe even running at a loss. Why would they as a business do that? No point.
Since tuesday night I've put what gaming time I have into one game
007 First Light - and I've been loving it. Its so much fun to play, like an awesome mix of Uncharted and Hitman. Very good dialog, good story, fun gameplay, great brawls, so many options to solve different problems and situations during missions... its not all perfect but on the whole it has that special something that makes it really, really fun 🙂
Some weeks go by faster than others it feels like, still managed some solid gaming
Call of the Elder Gods - finished and platinumed. It was a fun adventure with some nice puzzles and if you enjoyed Call of the Sea you'll enjoy this one. However, I found the story in the first game to be better, and the story in games like these are pretty important so overall I would say I enjoyed the first game more but this sequel is still good and worth your time if you like these kind of games so check it out!
Cyberpunk 2077 - I've finished my playthrough of just focusing on the main missions, which really isnt how this game should be played but then I didnt plan to play the whole game this time, I was just checking out the awesome ps5 pro update and got hooked again. It really is one of my favorite games, even if its not perfect, but Night City has a special place in my heart!
Havent decided on whats next, if I should get the lego Batman game or wait for 007 instead... I'll probably wait for Bond, that looks great!
Mixtape - which imo was a magical experience, loved it. Its really special in a good way. Had to get the platinum for it as well which was a fun one 🙂 I’ll say though that this isn’t a game for everyone!
Pragmata - I did it, I finished lunatic difficulty and got the platinum. It wasnt as hard as I thought it would be, the first two-three areas was harder than the rest imo as then you had some upgraded gear and weapons and it was a smooth ride from there. Fantastic game, I hope we get more from this ip 🙂
Cyberpunk 2077 - getting closer to the final third, still awesome and still impressed with the update for the Pro!
I also picked up Call of the Old Gods but only finished the prologue so far. Hoping its ad good or better than Call of the Sea!
I'll play the game a bit on the SS but will wait until I can get it on the Ps5 pro before really putting some time into it. Such a pretty game needs to be experienced at its best 🤩
I've dropped everything else this week and only played the fantastic Pragmata - such a good game! I've finished the story and the game really grew on me the whole way. The story and interaction between Hugh and Diana was great, they really nailed Diana as cute and loveable. Also really liked the gameplay and combat, and exploring was fun! Even the virtual training missions was fun 🙂 I havent decided if I'll get the platinum, lunatic difficulty sounds like it might be to much of a hassle to be worth it and I dont want to ruin the very good experience I've had with the game 🧐
Cyberpunk 2077 - So I made the mistake of starting a new game just to see how the PS5 Pro update was and ended up playing for way to long and now I cant drop it half done so I need to finish a quick playthrough 😅The pro update is really, really good and the game looks amazing on Ray Tracing Pro with 40 fps. Love this game!
Pragmata - I´m really enjoying this game, very good imo. It feels fresh, looks great and the gameplay is fun, shooting and hacking works great together, and theres a half interesting story there so far. Also really like the interaction between Hugh and Diana and how you build a relationship to both of them. Havent made it very far, just finished the second area, and Im really looking forward to playing more.
Well buying studios has worked out so good for them the last few times… No, focus on the ones you have and make them better and producing high quality games. Not more badly run studios please.
I say timed exclusives and try and build the playerbase by making Xbox the best place to play Xbox games (also third party games by making awesome hardware) and if they can rebuild the playerbase to be big enough to support exclusivity for Halo, Gears, Fable etc then do it.
Dont expect MS shareholders want to loose money on exclusive Xbox games so dont think going back right now makes sense.
I would love for an option to select Xbox games only, but then my son plays exclusively on his series X so I dont expect I would get him to agree with me 😂 but if the price is right it would be cheaper to buy a few games he wants here and there…
I would do timed exclusives at this point, as Xbox doesnt have a big enough console player base to support full exclusivity and dont have the system sellers to generate it either. But, 6-12 months for Halo, Gears, Fable etc would make a bit of a difference for Xbox players at least and wouldnt impact sales on other consoles that much I guess.
Planet of Lana 2 - finished and platinumed. Really enjoyed this beautiful game, its more of the same but better so if you liked the first game you’ll def like this one. Short and sweet, looks incredible with a nice soundtrack and fun gameplay and puzzles.
Also picked up Pragmata but havent had the time to boot it up yet, but hopefully I’ll find the time to play some later this weekend. Really looking forward to it!
Cant say that Im surprised really. The numbers didnt make sense back then and even with the price increased for GPU it doesnt make sense now. I really, really hope they dont go down that path though, wont end well for us consumers.
Life is Strange Reunion - finished and platinumed! I'm a bit torn about this game. In the end, its a pretty good game that had some great moments but its also not as good as the first game and it doesnt make me feel all those feelings I got playing all those years ago. Also, changing the ending from the first game isnt the best idea even if they make it work in the story. That ending was a big part of what made the game so good, and the choice that had to be made... anyway, it was good to see Max and Chloe again and if this was to be the last LiS game then fine, I understand the choices they made making this game. Personally I hope we can get some more LiS games with new stories, I like them 🙂
Planet of Lana - Remembered that I had this game to play after reading last weeks comments, so thank you for that! I’ve finished and platinumed the game, and I really enjoyed it. Beautiful, nice story and a pretty nice soundtrack made this a very good game. Its also pretty short which imo suits the game as it would overstay is welcome otherwise. I already have the sequel ready to go but I’ll wait for a week or two before playing 🙂
Life is Strange Reunion - so, after reading and watching some reviews I decided to go for it. I picked bae before bay in the original LiS so that Chloe was back was storywise ok but for my first playthrough I’ve picked the other option (you get to decide the backstory) and I have to say that building on the last game, Double Exposure, they pull the twist that Chloe is around again off better than I expected. So, is the game any good? Yes, I havent finished it yet but I’m enjoying it a lot even if its not nearly as good as the original game. There have been some awesome moments in the game so far though, they’ve always managed to make these in their games. Doe it feel like a money grab? Not really, theres enough of a good story here that even if they’ve used a lot of the same places and people as last game it doesnt really bother me. Should they have left Max and Chloe with the first game? Yeah, it feels good to continue their story but it should have been left with whatever ending we chose in the first game. That was what made is special. I think I’ll reach the end of the game this weekend, and I’ll probably play through it again immediately with the other backstory.
Ater a lot of back and forth, I decided to not get Crimson Desert now and let the developers patch it up a bit first. Which is always the best thing to do but then sometimes you just really wanna play a new game when it comes out. It was a real hard decision this one 😅
Metal Eden - so I finished the last of Metal Eden and really enjoyed it. By the end I was hooked by the gameplay, the flow of the game and the fast paced combat is really good imo. But, its also pretty buggy. I ran in to some towards the end and then with the lastest patch I started a new game + but you get softlocked where doors arent opening after a fight like they should, which is game breaking so... Real shame, hope they can fix it sooner rather than later.
Other than that I havent started anything new, I do think I'll get Life is Strange Reunion real soon. I picked bae before bay so it maybe the game makes a little more sense to me than if you picked the other way around. Early reviews seem positive and I really like the LiS games. But, no real rush so I'll wait for some more reviews before buying.
First off, I finished the Star Wars Oulaws DLC and I had a blast doing so. Love this game and it was great to return to it, and imo its a lot better than for example the user score on metacritic would have you believe. Especially after the patches for the stealth gameplay. Anyway, opinions and all that but for me is a great game!
Im not playing Crimson Desert, cannot bloody decide if I want to play now or wait for patches (which I should). The reviews and YT videos are a bit all over the place. I'm hoping that some of the commenters here will have played it, maybe some feedback from people outside of the business so to speak might help me make a decision.
Instead of Crimson Desert, I’m playing Metal Eden and I'm enjoying it. Its a fast paced, linear action game with good gameplay and fun traversal and interesting setting but its pretty repetetive. Imo its a very solid 7/10 and a perfect game for a service, I dont think I would have picked this up otherwise and I'm happy that I did. I think I'm nearing the end after maybe 6-7 hours of play so its a shorter game and thats ok, it means it doesnt outstay its welcome.
I'm basically waiting to see if Crimson Desert is a day 1 for me so I'm not starting any new and big right now. I watched The Digital Foundry video on the ps5 pro and the game looks ridiculously fantastic, its almost hard to believe. But looks arent everything so I'll wait for some reviews but I'll probably dive right in nect week 🙂
As for what I've been playing then
Thief VR - I've finished the missions (and story), and really liked playing them. Its a pretty short game, but priced lower, and its built around replayability of the missions so you can get all challenges and such if you like. There is a story but that lost me pretty early and as I wrote last week, I would have loved for them to make it more like a traditional single player Thief game with but then its not an AAA game in that sense. Still, its fun and plays and looks good where it really matters, the missions!
Star Wars Outlaws DLC - I found the DLC was on a sale, so I picked it up and jumped in, starting with Wild Card which I finished last night. I loved this game when it released, imo its a bit overlooked, and it feels great to jump back in. I did a new game to get to play the opening of the game again, which I really enjoy and the gameplay improvements for the stealth sections really makes a difference, and then started the DLC. The first one was pretty good, looking forward to the A Pirates Fortune DLC which I’m starting today! Still love this game 🙂
It looks fun but co-op where single players understandably dont get as good an experience means I wont be picking it up, not until a deep sale or its on a service.
We'ev been on a skiing trip for most of the week, I brought the Portal so I managed to play a little at least while away and decided to pick up Thief VR yesterday 🙂
First though, I must yet again say that the Portal is amazing and the choice between connecting to your PS5 or play plus games via Cloud is great and both work very well given you have a stable connection. Played some favorite games for a bit and I’m still impressed at how well they run and look on the Portal, but I also played:
Mindseye trial - I've been curious about how bad this game can be, and after about 45 min of the trial I can say its very bad. Mostly because it was marketed as a AAA game but its more like an indie A game. Very generous of the developer to let us try their disastrous game without any extra cost (on ps plus). Try it for yourselves 😅
Thief VR I got this yesterday so I've only played the first two missions but I really like it, it looks and plays good and that thief-feeling is very cool in VR. What I would have liked is some more narrative and cutscenes or something binding the missions together a bit better, now its like they are instances with some chatter between your character and an NPC but I guess thats because its built so you can easily replay the missions when done and get rankings and fulfill objectives etc but I would have loved for it to be more... like a normal single player game I guess. You could have replayability of the missions anyway. Still, I like what I've played and I'm looking forward to more 🙂
Rewards was great when I got my Series S a few years back but after the nerfs its just not worth the time and effort anymore and hasnt been for a while. It was simply too good to last!

That was what made is special.
I think I’ll reach the end of the game this weekend, and I’ll probably play through it again immediately with the other backstory.
Have a nice weekend 🙂
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 28-29)
Have a nice weekend!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 21-22)
Happy weekend you all!
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Game Pass Players, What Do You Think Of Cyberpunk 2077?
10/10 but havent played it on the Series S so dont know how the performance is. But the game is so good imo 🙂
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 14-15)
Re: Roundup: Toxic Commando Is Out Today On Xbox, And The First Reviews Have Arrived
It looks fun but co-op where single players understandably dont get as good an experience means I wont be picking it up, not until a deep sale or its on a service.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 7-8)
Still, I like what I've played and I'm looking forward to more 🙂
Have a great weekend!
Re: Microsoft Rewards Reduces 'Daily Set' Points Across Multiple Regions
Rewards was great when I got my Series S a few years back but after the nerfs its just not worth the time and effort anymore and hasnt been for a while. It was simply too good to last!
